Tom Ingram Team VERTU - Race 1 - Snetterton - 24 May 2026
Well Tom, uh that was uh an interesting opener here for uh for Sunday, but a a very nice drive from you. Thank you very much.
SPEAKER_01Hey, did you listen to my podcast?
SPEAKER_00I will do.
SPEAKER_01I haven't yet listened to it yet. What is it called? You really should. It's called Anything But Racing. It's available on Spotify, YouTube, and all the other podcasting streaming systems. As you know, I'm delighted to be able to get you to mention that. Now let's talk about the race. The race was good. Um yeah, we had a really good race actually. We um we managed to do what we needed to do, which was try to get out of the TTB race that it was going to open up to be. So got shot at Josh quite quickly, managed to sort of get shot, managed to get a nice kind of cut back out of uh Alabakas then he didn't make it too difficult, so yeah, fair play, he was great for that. Um and then just tried to sort of work into the clean air that that uh Charles had created. Worked perfectly, worked exactly as we needed it to do. So um, yeah, really chance.
SPEAKER_00Was there any chance of of you catching him in that BMW?
SPEAKER_01I thought about it, but look, the c the BM is the car to beat round here in these conditions, so I wasn't uh I wasn't too fussed about chasing after him too too aggressively.
SPEAKER_00Um how concerned were you about what was coming up behind you? I mean well behind the chasing pack. Was there was there any opportunity for for anybody? I mean just.
SPEAKER_01Oh I was I was I was happy. Um once I got into a bit of a gap, um I was sort of happy with the gap that we created. That was the important thing in those opening laps. So no, I felt I felt fairly in control with it. It was quite nice for recipe.
SPEAKER_00Was it useful having a little bit of air between you and uh and Charles because of the temperatures?
SPEAKER_01We're like 30 odd degrees Celsius ambient temperature, the track temp's like 45, 44. So it's really important to try and just get some clean air through the car. So you know there's such an element around here of um being in clean air, but also when it's this hot, you don't want to just get everything too warm because you know you you'll you'll lose brakes, your charge temps will go through the roof, water temps will go up, oil temps will go up, and all of a sudden everything starts winding back, there's just no point going into it. So, yeah, you just have to be a bit tactful. And as always, very important to get those points in the back. Yeah, exactly. That look it's only in that race. You know, obviously Ash Dan and uh Dash Dan in 11. We're just trying to make progress whilst Ash was going to uh struggle to get through. Won't be the case in this next race, he'll be through and he'll be on our on our rear bumper in uh in two laps. So we just have to try and see how that plays out. Another good drive, Tom Wells on. Steve, thanks.
