#239 - Why You Need to Define "Good" and "Bad" For Yourself (5 Minutes or Less)
Have you ever stopped to define what makes a day "good" or "bad"? In this compact, value-packed episode of Hashtag Clocked In podcast, I share a perspective shift that could completely transform how you experience every single day of your life.
Most of us unconsciously allow external circumstances to dictate whether we're having a "good" or "bad" day. When your boss criticizes you, traffic is terrible, or small mishaps pile up, you might write off the entire day as "bad" without a second thought. But what if the power to define these fundamental concepts rested entirely with you?
Drawing inspiration from Tony Robbins, I explore the liberating definition of a "good day" simply as waking up and having another opportunity at life. This immediate reframe acknowledges the gift that each new day represents—regardless of what challenges it might bring. Paired with this is a more meaningful definition of what constitutes a truly "bad day"—reserving this label exclusively for days when we lose someone close to us, rather than everyday setbacks.
This five-minute mental framework offers a powerful tool for maintaining perspective, avoiding self-pity, and appreciating the fundamental gift of being alive. Whether you're facing major obstacles or minor inconveniences, taking control of how you define your experience can be transformative. If you find value in these shorter, concentrated wisdom sessions, let me know in the comments—I've got at least ten more planned if you're interested!

Hey, it's Jordan with Edwards Consulting here and I'm the host of the Hashtag Clocked In podcast and I'm going to start out with a new segment. So a couple of the times that you guys heard me do one-on-one just me and the audience I gave a 25 to 30-minute speech about a topic, gave a 25 to 30 minute speech about a topic. This time I'm going to do it very quick, very precise and it will be five minutes max. So what we're going to talk about today and I plan on doing at least 10 of these to see if people are interested in these. So if you are, make sure to click it, share it, do everything you're going to do with it, because, so the first thing I want to give you the major value bomb here I want to give you is defining words for yourself. So what I mean by that is two of the ones I my go-tos are defining a good day and defining a bad day.
Speaker 1:There's so many of us that go through life and we use these terms and we don't know what they mean. We have never given them a definition. Some people's good day is when everything goes their way. How often does that occur? Very infrequently, so a much better solution to that might be when it can be anything. You know what I mean. So we start to sit there and really think what would actually be a great good day definition and for me, the one I learned through Tony Robbins is that a good day is waking up, a good day is having another opportunity, a good day is having a chance, it's waking up.
Speaker 1:Now let's get into what a bad day looks like. So a lot of us will say, hey, my boss was mean to me. Or someone might say I got in a car accident. Or someone might say my cat died. What is the realm of that? That is a bad day, and what I've realized, for me at least, that it's whenever a close family member or friend or animal passes away. The reason I think that's so important is because then it doesn't allow you to get in this self-pity area where each day, when something hard happens, or maybe your expectations weren't reached, you have a bad day Because here's the truth, or maybe your expectations weren't reached, you have a bad day Because here's the truth. Every day that we're trying something, every day we're going after something, we are having a good day, and a bad day can only be when someone close to us passes away, so I hope this allows you to reframe your perspective. Let me know if you like these short videos because I can keep them coming, and I look forward to hearing from all you guys in the comments and seeing what you
