Stop Filling Your Calendar And Start Moving The Needle (5 Min Friday)
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
You can grind from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., stack your calendar with meetings, and still end the day with zero dollars to show for it. That’s why I’m drawing a sharp line between being busy and actually building, because this difference quietly destroys businesses that look “productive” on the surface. Busyness is motion. Building is momentum.
I talk through the mindset trap that makes busyness feel safe and rewarding, even when it doesn’t move the needle. Then I give you a practical filter you can use immediately: ask better questions about every commitment. Is this activity creating leverage, freeing time, or producing an asset that compounds? Or is it just keeping you occupied? This is also where your zone of genius matters. When you spend your best hours on low-value tasks and unnecessary meetings, you give away the very work only you can do.
To make it stick, I share a visual I love from my trip to the Amazon rainforest in Peru. When you’re under the trees, you can’t see far, so you keep pushing forward and hope you’re headed somewhere good. The real advantage is lifting your head up, looking around, and evaluating direction so you can make a small adjustment before you waste weeks. Your takeaway is simple: identify one building task you’ll implement this week, then track the change it creates.
If this hits home, subscribe for more short, practical business advice, share this with a friend who’s drowning in meetings, and leave a review so more builders can find the show. What’s the one building task you’re choosing this week?

Busy Vs Building
SPEAKER_00It's five minute Friday, and we are going the difference between being busy and actually building. The difference that's destroying your business. Who here has been busy from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. attending meetings, talking to people, having those things. Who's done that and made zero dollars? I see that every day with my clients. They're attending a ton of meetings, they're doing a lot of stuff, but nothing's actually building and moving the needle. So I want you to realize that busyness feels productive, but it's not actually. Building is the thing that's going to compound for you. So what you need to start doing is you need to start asking yourself better questions. Is this you? Are you someone that struggles with busyness, with the attraction to busyness, with being obsessed with busyness that doesn't allow you the space to actually think for yourself? You need to start asking yourself, what am I doing today that that could actually eliminate so much of these people's time, that could free up a lot of my time, that can help me get to where I want to go. You need to ask yourself better questions. You need to start stepping into your zone of genius instead of just attending everything. A lot of the meetings do not move the needle for you. So what you need to do is get yourself into action and see what is the activity that's actually going to help you. And what I do with my clients when we're going through this, I think of us a lot of the time in the
Ask Better Questions
SPEAKER_00Amazon rainforest because I like the Amazon. I went there in Peru and it was very fun. And what I started to realize is that a lot of us are in the rainforest. We're under the trees and we can't see a lot that's going on. Now, one of the biggest assets I think we can all have is the ability to lift our head up. So imagine we're in the jungle, can't see anything, just know the direction we're going in. And we lift our head up and we start to look around outside of the jungle, and we can see all the different directions. One place is going to end up at the beach, one's gonna end up on top of a mountain, one's gonna end up on a volcano, one's gonna end up in the worst place ever. It doesn't really matter, but it's that moment where you ask yourself, am I going in the right direction? Is there something we can adjust? Is there something that we can change to get us going where we need to go? And the reason I say this is because every time we lift our head up, it's
Lift Your Head Above The Jungle
SPEAKER_00a great way to plan. It's a great way to evaluate, and it's a great way to build a new brick and build the brick that you're actually looking at building so that you can get to the next level. Because as you continue to build this life and build what you're trying to do, it's important and pivotal that you take moments of reflection to figure out what is that next step, where do I want to go? How do I want to do it? You can always reach out to me at Jordan F. Edwards on Instagram. And I look at all the messages, I look at all the comments, and I would be happy to have a conversation with you and see how I can assist you in some sort of way. But remember, this week, identify one building task you can start to implement into your life. And I'm telling you, it will make a change. And message me about what that change is. I can't wait to hear about it. And that is five minute Friday. Thank you.
