Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
We unpack why motivation collapses after a setback and how to stop treating your biggest goal like a single risky bet. We use a “goal portfolio” system so your momentum survives bad weeks, missed deadlines, and slower seasons without burning out.
• framing lost momentum as a goal design problem, not laziness
• using an investor mindset to diversify motivation and reduce risk
• building a blue chip long-term vision that aligns with your values
• creating dividend plays with daily and weekly wins you control

Why Big Goals Fall Apart
SPEAKER_00Most leaders don't lose momentum because they're lazy. They lose momentum because they build their goals the wrong way. Tell me if this doesn't sound familiar. You start a massive goal, completely fired up for about two weeks, you're unstoppable. And then one setback hits, a missed deadline, a rough week at work, a number on the scale you didn't like. And what ends up happening to us? And suddenly we feel like you're right back at zero. I've lived that cycle more times than I can count. I used to think something was wrong with me. And I realized I'm Jordan with Edwards Consulting. And I realized like many other people were just born more driven. But that's not true. Because I started to pay close attention to how the most elite CEOs, athletes, and top performance manage their time and their motivation. And I noticed something. They all had something in common. They weren't relying on willpower. They were relying on a system. In my podcast, hashtag clocked in, I've interviewed over 280 individuals, including the founder of Reebok and billionaire Jeff Hoffman. And this is what I learned. A system I now call a goal portfolio, a structure that makes your motivation resilient no matter when the setback hits. In this video, what you'll learn is you'll learn what a goal portfolio is, why it works, how to build your blue chip long-term vision for your life, how to choose growth stocks that fast track progress, and how dividend plays keep you winning every single day. And how a hedging goal can protect you from burnout. If you stay until the end, I'm giving away complimentary access to one of my courses to a few people from this video, and I'll tell you how to enter. Plus, I'm sharing a final bonus insight used by top performers, the top
Willpower Fails, Systems Win
SPEAKER_001% of leaders to stay motivated for years, not weeks. So let's dive in. What and why the goal? For me, the goal portfolio, what is it actually? What is a goal portfolio? The easiest way to understand it is to think about think like an investor. Who's invested money before? You have the whole portfolio. No smart investor throws their entire life savings into one risky stock. They diversify. Because if that stock tanks, they'll lose it all. But that's exactly how most of us treat our goals. We pick one big goal, high stakes outcome. I'm going to lose 100%. I'm going to lose 100 pounds. I'm going to scale to eight figures. I'm going to become the number one rep in my company. And we pour all of our motivation into that one thing. Then one
The Goal Portfolio Investor Mindset
SPEAKER_00setback hits and the motivation portfolio crashes. We've all experienced a stock crash. And I experienced this early in my career. I had a huge goal. I was obsessed with it. Everything was tied to it. But the moment that I faced a challenge, something went wrong. And I spiraled and I would lose motivation and I would stop. It happened with my podcast when I first started. I couldn't be consistent. It was a challenge for me because I had nothing holding me up. That's when I realized elite performers don't rely on one goal, they diversify their motivation. A goal portfolio gives you this, it gives you a long-term direction. So for me, what ended up happening, and it gives you midterm progress, short-term wins, and emotional insurance. So for me, what ended up happening, I ended up having three pillars back in 2018. I was going into 2019, didn't know what I wanted to do. And I set three goals for myself: build the business, pass all four sections of the CPA, and run a marathon. It had different areas. So it allowed me to dip into these different areas and feel comfortable with what I was doing. So let's continue on. Let's define your blue chip goal. And I want you to realize that I'm going to keep carrying these three different goals with you. So your first step is to define your blue chip goal. What's your five or 10 star, 10-year north star vision? These goals are long-term, stable, and inspiring, and deeply connected to who you want to become. For me, one of my blue chip goals was simple but powerful. It was to build a life where I wake up excited every day, do work that actually matters to me, and help people transform their lives. And that's where Edwards Consulting came in. And that goal has guided me for years, and that's led me to traveling to 31 different countries. And it doesn't change with the weather. I keep these blue chip goals no matter what. Some goal examples for
Choose Your Blue Chip Vision
SPEAKER_00you could be become a VP at your Fortune 500 company, build a $10 million business, write a best-selling book. Any of these can be your big North stars. You could also do complete an Iron Man by the age of 40. The key, though, this is the big thing. The key for you, it must be aligned with your values. Not what you think you should do, not what your friends said you should do, not what your parents said you should do, but what your soul actually wants from you. When your blue chip goal is authentic, it will start to pull you forward, not hold you back, and it will start to push you. But a long-term vision, that's not enough. We need more. That's why I'm here right now in the studio. Each week I come in and speak because I want to work on my communication skills. So whether I get a keynote or not, I'm still practicing. And that's gonna start to pay out every day and every week. There's gonna be progress-based goals, but I want you to control them 100%. During one of my hardest seasons of my life, dividend plays were the only reason. These were the small, tiny wins that I didn't lose any momentum at all. Even when the bigger goals were going sideways, I couldn't see them. I didn't know where my keynotes were gonna come from. I could still look at my week and say to myself, I still kept my promises to myself, regardless of what it was. Maybe it's writing 500 words every morning, maybe it's contacting five new leads every day. Maybe it's completing all scheduled workouts this week. You have to do something that's in your control,
Dividend Wins You Control Daily
SPEAKER_00or you'll lose control. These are your consistent wins. This is gonna be your steady cash flow of motivation, your reminder. I'm showing up. This prevents those week-to-week collapses that kill most people's progress. So don't let the big goal kill your progress. Start to get the dividend pays. Do the little things that will make a difference and create your hedging goal. Because I want you to realize that a hedging goal, this is the final piece that's going to make your system unbreakable. You need a hedging goal. A hedging goal is your key to success. It's something outside of your work or your main dream. And when everything in your life is tied to one thing, one identity, one setback, it feels like a punch to the soul when it doesn't work. That's why your hedging goal is going to start to diversify your identity. It's going to give you another place to grow, learn, and win. For me, a simple hedging goal was for me, a simple hedging goal was improving my fitness and getting consistent with training Muay Thai. Because once I started doing that, I trained Muay Thai and then I started to go to the gym a little bit more. I would start to
Hedging Goals Prevent Burnout
SPEAKER_00run a little bit more. And it had nothing to do with business, but it gave me confidence and momentum. Even when work hits bumped, I got hit with bumps. I still was able to grow. Some other examples you could do is maybe learning guitar or training for a 10K or joining a more martial arts school or building something with your hands or learning a new language or going to dance class. This goal is going to protect your emotional well-being. It ensures a setback in one area. Never, I repeat, never takes out your entire system. Motivation can be built, not found. So here it is. You're going to have your blue chip goal, your long-term vision, your growth stocks, your medium-term leaps. You're also going to have your dividends, your dividend plays for your daily and weekly wins. And the last part is your hedging goals, your emotional insurance. This is your protection. It's your emotional insurance policy. This is how you stop relying on motivation and start relying on structure and systems. This is how you build momentum that actually lasts. So I want to offer you guys something. I told you that if you stayed to the end, I would give you something. And that's where this is coming
