Have you ever made a promise to yourself and not kept it? Yeah, I think we're in the same boat on that one. I've been pretty sure everybody's done this. But I think what a lot of people don't know is how damaging that can be to ourselves when we don't keep that promise. We're going to be talking about that today and how important it is. And hopefully together by the end of this episode, we're gonna be a whole lot better at keeping our promises to ourselves. Let's get started. Welcome to worth it, the podcast where we answer anxiety, deflate fear, and shut down shame, because ain't no woman got time for that you were made to thrive. My mission is to help you get deeply rooted with God and reclaim your weapon that the enemy of God has been using against you. After going to battle for my own mind. Three years ago, I realized that there is a war going on for our minds. A battle that begins with how we think since you have much more control than you realize. With each episode, you'll learn how to fight back and become more confident in the truth that God already knows. You are worth it. I'm Michelle Remington, Christian mindset coach, thought strategist and more your mama. Grab your sword, daughter of the king, it's time to unleash your inner warrior princess. Welcome back warrior woman to the worth it podcast. Thank you so much for joining me once again, let me ask you a question. Is there a promise that you haven't kept to yourself? If you're like me, there's probably too many to count, you end up forgetting about them. But what I didn't know until now is that by not keeping my promises to myself, I was subconsciously telling myself, you're not worth the effort. Ouch. Yeah, that one stings. And do you know what else happens? When those promises get shoved to the side, it breaks down our confidence. And confidence is so important, especially in our current society, when there is a near constant barrage of things that can break you down. I mean, one little flick on social media with everybody posting their highlight reels, or turning on the TV and seeing all these commercials with perfect people and perfect families and everything else. Confidence is key. And confidence with the king. That'd be Jesus. Yeah, it's life giving. Jesus loves you. And he wants you to thrive. Now the enemy of God, he wants to break you down to dust. Yeah. So when you have confidence, and, and with Jesus, it brings life to you. So choose life, choose to speak life, choose to think life, choose to consume life. I mean, like, you know, media stuff, and books and things like that. I just want to encourage you, because there's so many things that we do subconsciously, that can really sabotage what we're doing. And that's why it is so important to keep your promises to yourself. And there's so many ways that you can keep your promises to yourself. So I mean, the obvious one is if you say you're going to do something, do it. Pretty simple. But that comes down to remembering the power that we have in our choices and how we can change our life with every single choice we make. Now, some other simple ways that we can start to kind of train ourself to keep those promises are things like doing affirmation cards, reminding yourself who you are, because quite honestly, a person in a depressed state is not going to be keeping promises to themselves, and probably not keeping promises to others, as well. And the more you break yourself down, the more you break down your confidence. You may be like, you know, what's the point? You know, why do we even bother? Or, you know, you talk yourself out of it, which is the crazy thing, he started to talk yourself out of it like nobody cares. Nobody's gonna want me there anyway. Stuff like that. So maybe your affirmation card is gonna say, I am worth the effort. Go on now girl, tell yourself I am worth the effort. Now I mentioned in another podcast quote from Zig Ziglar that really resonated with me and still does today. It says, it's not going to be easy. It's gonna be worth it. And I even saw another quote that I paraphrased for my ladies on the Facebook worth it podcast group. And that is life is hard. So choose your hard and make it worth it. So I mean, yeah, parenting is hard. Yeah. adulting is hard these days. Marriage is hard. Relationships are hard. Work is hard. Things are hard. But you choose the life that you are wanting you prioritize those things that yet hard, but is it worth it to you? Okay, let's remember that. So you choose your hard, and you make it worth it. And you may be in a situation. I mean, let's be honest, right? Everybody goes through this. Nobody has a perfect life. So raising kids is hard. Kids have tantrums. Kids have emotions, you know, you got to deal with with another human being that is, is feeling these things and going through these things, and you are their number one human that they go to for these things. Like you are the one and you're like, I don't feel qualified. Got that you were and got that you're worth it. Yes, it's hard. But is it gonna be worth it? Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. Marriage is hard. He goes through different things. people going through different emotions, different things in life, and growing through things. And there's so many factors there. So yeah, marriage is hard. But are you gonna make it worth it? Yeah, there's so many things. And you may have other things in life like this career? Am I gonna go for it? Is this worth it? Remember the reason you started? And when you're looking back on things like this, as you remember the reason why you started? Does that resonate with you as a priority? Okay, let's go on. You know, there's so much to this journey. There's so many facets, so many different layers to it. The one thing that's constant is God, and his truth, and all the traits and characteristics that He created us with everything that God has done for us and in us is true. That's the constant. So yeah, life is crazy right now. And you know, it's funny, just thinking back, you know how those pictures come across on your Facebook. And it's like memories from so many years ago? Well, this particular one that came up was the picture that I took the night that God pierced through the darkness. For me, I was working at a radio station at the time, took a picture with the band, and I was made a post, like, I love my job inside, though, I was broken inside, I was done. I was I was ready to let myself go. And I saw that post. And it was just a big reminder for me of what happened and where God's brought me from. And now I look back on that. It's an interesting perspective to have. Because I remember being in such misery and thinking, is this ever gonna end? Is this ever going to get better. And now I'm able to look back at it and be so thankful and amazed, looking at what God has done in my story. And maybe you have a moment in your life like that, that you can look back on. And just think of how amazing God is and how much he moved in your life at that point how much he moved in you. Everybody's got a story with God. So what's your story? Maybe it would be helpful to write it down. You know, it's funny has we go on through life, we can actually forget those little moments of things that God did. But God is so cool. He brings them back at just the right time. God is so careful with us. He knows what we can take and what we can't take. He knows when to when to push and when to not push. And he knows how to lead us when we don't even know we're being led to the next victory. So wherever you are in life right now, I want you to just remember a few things. Number one, that your life is this beautiful, flowing journey with God. And you may not know what's coming up next. But what you do know is the nature of God and that God loves you. And he'll never give you more than you can handle. He's equipped you. But even as he's equipped you, as long as you stay teachable, he will show you and He will continue to build you up and grow you You know, the other very important thing is that you are worth the effort, those promises that you make to yourself, maybe start with just one little promise. Because I mean, we're talking about building on your learned behaviors. Because as you build on and start to learn new good behaviors, it starts to cancel out the bad behaviors, because you're re writing your program in your brain, basically, a nerdy way of explaining it, but there it is. So maybe take a small promise, every day is kind of like if you have a to do list, right? And you want to make yourself feel better about getting things done. And then you decide, you know what, Okay, I'm gonna write, make my bed, wash my face, wash the dishes, simple things like that, that you would normally do is not necessarily to make yourself feel better. Yes, it does do that. But it shows us a bigger picture of what we've accomplished in that day. Isn't that funny, so many times we make our to do lists, and we leave out the small things that we would normally do in the day. And then why don't we count those when we look at our day? And how much we've accomplished in the day? Why do we leave out that stuff that you already did, doesn't make any sense. So start with the small choices, the small promises, and keep those promises to yourself. You're retraining your brain, and you're building your confidence and your belief in yourself. Now, it may sound a little contrary to what we read in the Word of God. But let me ask you a question. Number one, I have no intention of going against the Word of God. But I'll ask you a question. If you look at the scriptures, do the scriptures give us instructions on how to let go of the things that are weighing us down? Oh, yeah. So do we continue in sin that God's grace may abound? God forbid, if we know that we have the ability to start setting these things aside, and start building up our temple for God. Why won't we do that? Because it gives us an advantage. And it gives God more to work on more to work with. So you're worth it, you are worth the effort. So why do I keep on going on about being worth it? Quite simply, because I know what it feels like to be in a place where you no longer think that you are worth your effort, that you're worth your family's love worth this life. And I want to instill that into you because that is a huge lie that the enemy has perpetrated on to this generation of people that you are not worth it. But I am here to tell you that God came down from his throne in the form of man and died on the cross shed his blood for you. Now, I may be hearing that wrong. But it pretty much sounds like God thought that you were worth it. Because he saw you even before you were formed in your mother's body. God knows you. God loves you. God died for you on the cross and He has work to do in you right where you are. So I want you to be encouraged today. As always, let's go ahead and finish out in prayer. Lord Jesus, I thank you for this opportunity to speak to the hearts that need to hear this today. Lord, I pray that you would continue to work mightily in the hearts of all those that hear this. And I pray, Lord, that You would help them to feel and know that you are working in their hearts as well. I pray, Lord, that You would help this sister to continue to draw closer to you each and every day, even when it's hard. Even when she's not even sure if you're listening. I pray Lord, that You would help her to persevere, to press on. I pray, Lord that you would help her to press into your word and press into your love because your love is everlasting and enduring and more amazing than anything than we had ever imagined. Thank you, Lord for the work that you are doing. I praise Your holy name Jesus, You alone are worthy of the praise and there is none. None like you in all the earth. And everything that you've created. Lord, there is none like You Jesus. It's in your name we pray, Amen. And Amen. My dear, I want to thank you so much for joining me once again today. I hope that this has enriched you. resonated in your heart touched your heart in some way that it helps you draw closer to God. Until next time, remember, you are worth it.
