#551 Bringing Out the Best in You! - Featuring Joyce Jackson
Joyce Jackson attended a very small private school in Selah, Washington and enjoyed playing team sports for fun. When she moved to a public high school her senior year, she made the varsity volleyball team, and this sparked her lifelong engagement with fitness. Diagnosed with Crohn’s disease at 23, Joyce turned adversity into purpose by becoming a certified aerobics instructor and later a personal trainer, teaching seniors, military-bound youth, and athletes of all ages. She has worked in gyms, private homes, and virtually—adapting during COVID with creative solutions like soup can workouts. Now 61 and semi-retired, she coaches group classes, strength trains, and golfs 2–3 times a week with her husband. She also paddleboards, plays pickleball, and remains deeply involved in fitness education. Her go-getter mindset, combined with personal experience overcoming chronic illness, makes her a role model for staying active, aging well, and customizing movement to every body.
