Trevor Morris - The Scoring Sommelier

The Screen Composers Guild of Canada Season 2 Episode 1

[Episode contains some strong language]

Trevor Morris is without a doubt one of Canada’s most successful exports in the screen composing world.

After cutting his teeth writing jingles in Toronto, he made the jump to Los Angeles, where a chance meeting landed him a gig with his hero James Newton Howard. This led him to Media Ventures, where he put in 4 years of incredibly hard work and learning under Hans Zimmer.  At the dawn of the Golden Age of television, his music was part of the winning formula that saw The Tudors revolutionize the costume drama, and become a massive international hit.  His music also graces blockbuster shows like Vikings, video games including Dragon Age: Inquisition, and big studio films like London Has Fallen and Hunter Killer, starring his buddy Gerard Butler.

This two-time Emmy winner shares his candid perspective about the ups and downs in this tough and competitive business, being a Canadian in Los Angeles, the dangers of being honest on social media, and how he sees the industry changing.
