ON THE BALL The Mental Side Of Sport
Michael Lodewyks  Writer  |  Teacher  |  Coach  |  Athlete

Michael Lodewyks is a writer, coach, teacher, and athlete. You might say his life "revolves around sport." He is also an avid meditator, which has taught him the power of the mind not only in sport, but in life. Because he believes the mind is so powerful, he recently wrote a book about the mental side of sport, called On the Ball. The book reflects on his experiences as a volleyball coach for over twenty-five years at a variety of levels, including high school, club, provincial team, and university. He has also spent a great deal of time teaching tennis.

After completing a Masters of Education Degree in coaching studies in 2013, he began teaching kinesiology courses at the University of Winnipeg. He also taught motor learning for one year at the University of Manitoba, and biomechanics for one year at the University of British Columbia.

When there's time, you'll find him playing tennis at the local courts where he lives in Vancouver. He lives with his partner, Angella Griffith, and their dog Rudy.
