It’s possible to have a diabetes-related eye condition such as diabetic retinopathy and not even know it, as people with early stages of the disease may experience few, if any, symptoms. That’s why recognizing the risk, learning the symptoms and seeking early treatment from a retina specialist are critical to preserving and protecting vision.
