Hey there and welcome back to the podcast. Today I have a short episode for you. I was just working on writing an Instagram caption. And it was a picture of my son sitting and in a coffee shop. Across from me in my laptop while he was, uh, or while I was working, he was watching something on the iPad, had his headphones on and.

I asked the question. I started the caption with, does this make me a bad mom? And talked about. Just how I totally used to judge. Parents for letting their kids sit there on a phone or a tablet while they're at a restaurant or, you know, when they're out. I was totally that person sitting and judging them silently.

Um, for their parenting choices, that was until I became a parent. And I feel like I've become much less judgmental. Um, now that I am a mom and I understand all that it takes to parent and be a mother and take care of children 24 seven. And, you know, in the caption, I was just talking about how you never know the situation and that's what I've learned is you never know what's going on. You don't know if.

You know, maybe. They had to bribe their child with watching something on the phone to even get them out the door. To the restaurant or maybe there's some special needs involved in it is just not worth the battle of fighting it. Or maybe, you know, they need their kids to have some headphones on so that they can have an adult conversation or.

Maybe it is like my case where I let him watch something for that like hour and a half, because it allows me to have 40 extra minutes. Oh, work time rather than driving 20 minutes home. And 20 minutes back to pick up my oldest from half-day pre-K. Uh, which, uh, don't get me started on half-day pre-K that is only two hours long.

But going to the coffee shop across the street and, you know, letting him watch something on the iPad while I sit and work on my laptop. It gives me 40 extra minutes of work time. And so that's what I choose to do right now. This is not the point of this conversation, but the point is I'm being judged.

I titled this, that, uh, it's, this will happen to you. And that this is being judged. You will be judged. You will be judged as a mom. You will be judged as woman. You will be judged as a business owner. And the reason I wanted to talk about this is because I know for me, Um, sometimes I, I don't put myself out there. I don't do the things that I know I should do in my business, or even, you know,

Just thinking about what I put on in the morning or the parenting decisions that I make. Um, a lot of it, you know, I will think about what will other people think of this? Or will people judge me right. And I wanted to, to just come on and chat with you about the fact that. No matter what you do. No matter whether you start a business or not.

No matter whether you do the Facebook live or not, no matter. The, the parenting decision you make, you are going to be judged one way or the other. You will be judged. So maybe you'll be judged for putting yourself out there and doing that Facebook live, even though you feel really silly doing it, there may be people on the other end that judge you for it.

But. If you don't. Right. If you hide away and you don't start your business, or you don't put yourself out there on social media, because you're afraid of what other people are going to think. And you don't follow. You know that passion or that calling that you're feeling. There may be some people that are going to judge you for that.

Right. Like, you're going to be judged either way. You're going to be judged for whatever decision you make. So you might as well do. What the heck you want. You might as well do what, you know, you are supposed to do what you feel called to do. What you want to do what's right for you and your family.

You might as well just do it. Because you're going to be judged either way and I'm totally preaching to the choir here because. I deal with this daily. Of just, you know, even putting out an Instagram post thinking of what will people think. Right. What will people think? I think I've shared this before.

Of my mom and sister. Literally. I would make fun of people when they would do Facebook lives. And hopefully none of their friends are listening.

That do Instagram or do Facebook lives. Um, no, they're, they're wonderful people and they're very kind, but. Um, they are a little judgmental, um, On that. Aspect of things on Facebook lives anyways. Um, just because it's different to them, right. It's just, it's weird to them. And, um, and so especially like starting out, like, and even still, like, I still kind of have that in my head of like, oh, if I do a Facebook live or.

Whatever they're going to judge me and people. Are going to think I'm silly. And, um, you know, I go to stumble over my words and people are gonna judge me and think like, who, who is she to be doing that? And, you know, there's, there's all of these thoughts that, that come up and creep up. And, and we worry about what other people are going to think, but.

I have to remind myself. And that's what I'm here to remind you of today too. Is. People are gonna judge you no matter what. And I mean, yeah, that, that stinks and we should definitely be less judgmental. Um, which I think is where I've I have. Grown a little bit. Um, especially since my high school days of just learning.

Learning not to, to judge. Um, The people as much because you, again, you never know what's going on. Behind, um, you know, what's being presented. And, and even still, I mean, you know, it's just kind of a, you do you mentality. Um, that I've, I've kind of adopted, trying to be less judgmental of others and just supportive of others.

Um, but the honest truth is that we, as human beings are judgemental. And so no matter what you do, you're going to be judged. So I encourage you to do. What it is you want to do? Do what is going to make you happy? Do you, what is going to be the best thing for your family? And just accept that there's going to be people that don't like it.

And that's okay. That's all right. There may be people that make fun of you behind your back. That's all right. It doesn't change anything. Okay. It doesn't change the fact that you're doing what's right for you. So. If you have ever felt, um, afraid if you have ever felt, um, just kind of reservation.

Of of maybe pushing that, you know, go live button or making that post about starting your business. Or reaching out to a friend, um, about, you know, your business idea. I encourage you just, just do it. You can do it. You can do it. And, you know, You'll be all right. Because either way, you're going to be judged. So just do what is right for you.

All right. I hope that was helpful and encouraging for you. I really appreciate you being here and listening. And coming back week after week. If you are enjoying this episode.
