Transcript

Welcome again to the axis of football. Week two is in the books and man, oh man, was it one hell of a week, three giant comebacks by Miami, the jets and the Cardinal. Jimmy G in after trade land suffers a season ending injury against Seattle. We'll talk about that. And the implications there. Why Jim ssay owes Carson once a massive apology. Brady finally off the Schneider against the saints cowboy season might not be on life support, we'll talk about the implications of their. And more impressive money tonight, win Eagles or bills. Very, very nice showing by both those teams char and I will talk about what impressed us more gross, a alongside sharp ish, char, how you doing, man? How was the weekend of football for you? It was great. I was in Vegas again and enjoying enjoying the championship fight. I was I was ringside for that and it was a, was a great weekend. No big deal. He just ringside for canal of triple. Just normal weekend for sure. Well, I was, it's not a normal weekend, but it was, it was exciting. You know, the Steph Curry was there, Joe Rogan and Dave were there. It was, it was pretty cool. That's that's awesome, man. The part that I thought was hilarious was I was talking to you on when you were on the way there. And I was like, where are you staying? You're like, I don't know. I'm just gonna figure out when I get there. I'm like, Who who does that? You're just who? That, that that's just a boss. Move it. It's a boss. Move on your part. I gotta say it. I, I always do that. I always, when, when I, whenever I go, I always just because who knows what kind of, you know, I, I might feel like going to a resource style hotel. I might, I might feel like going to a quiet hotel. I might feel like going to a glitzy one. I might feel like going to a the budget one who, who knows it's. So I, so all by your mood, as you're pulling into. Absolutely all by my, we accepted almost backfired this last week because you had the triple G and canal fight. So you had people from Kazakhstan all over. And also all from Mexico, then you had the UFC fight. Then you had everybody from Oakland and LA, all the Raiders fans from Oakland and, and LA in Vegas. And you also had all the Arizona fans in here. So K I couldn't find any, I couldn't find any hotels until the last second. I had to stay 30 minutes north of a strip. Oh my God. What a weekend to be in Vegas, huh? Oh, it was crazy. It was absolutely crazy. Yeah, it it's listen I. I'm telling you, it, it, it was just, it was just nuts. It, it was just absolutely nuts. I rolled in around 9:00 AM and I got the last room that was like available and, and, and literally I called a, you know, you know how the credit cards have a concierge, even Costco business as a concierge, I called all of them and they couldn't get me tickets. I mean they couldn't get me rooms that, that tells you how insane it must have been. If the concierge just can't do. Oh, it was crazy. It was crazy. So wow. But it sounds like it was a good time, nevertheless. And you, you did, I think take down some kind of a massive looking inized burrito too, if I'm not mistaken. Yeah. The, the world's largest burrito, but it's like, it feels like it's like 50 pounds, but obviously it's not, but yeah, it's a$60 burrito, but it's well worth an LP. 10 LP, 10 people, hell of a weekend, man. Hell of a weekend. Well, listen, I, you know, I did enjoy on Sunday. The wife was kind enough to take the kids. And so I, I, I had a, a pretty for the most part, a very peaceful, quiet viewing session in in my home of all the games. So I'm super excited to talk about it, man. Three huge comeback, char all hap actually know two of them happening in the early games. The third happening in the late slate, Miami over Baltimore, the jets over the Browns Cardinals over the Raiders to go into some detail here, Miami facing. 35 14 deficit in the fourth quarter comes back to win. 42 38 jets down 30 to 17 with a minute 55 remaining. They come back to win 31 30 and the Cardinals over the Raiders. Cardinals down 16. In the fourth quarter had to score two touchdowns convert two, two P of version supports over time where they won it off a scoop and score fumble. And over time char so much, we can talk about all these, all these results, which one out of the gate impressed you the most. Honestly, the, the jets, because, you know, they were behind they, they were behind. And and, and look, you, you had a situation where they had to score, you know, score touchdown, kick onsite. Kick can do that. The odds of just doing that is just so little yeah. That you would've never thought that it would happen, but you also can't, you know, like there are so many good ones you're talking. You're talking about, you know, the Miami game and then, and then also the who's Raider game. Yeah. That, that was just amazing. It's amazing. Just amazing. Yeah. I mean, look, we'll, we'll talk about it here to a, in that comeback, char 199 yards and four touchdowns in the fourth quarter. I mean, unbelievable stuff. Talk about using your weapons. I mean, you wanna talk about that? Tyre kill and Jalen wall shark, both over 170 yards receiving tyre hill touchdowns of 48 and 60 yards in the fourth quarter and the game winner going to Gillin waddle. These two receivers, absolutely showing out char let's just pause there because. I will say this. This is a bit of eating Crow for me on two a I'm still not like fully sold to us, turn the corner, but this was a hell of a step for him. 450 plus yards, six touchdowns, almost 200 yards of that. And four of those touchdowns coming and excuse me, six touchdowns, four of those coming in the fourth quarter. What can you say about tah? I mean, this is, this is what is showing for him. Yeah. It's look I, I know that you still don't believe in him. My only question about ATU was never his efficiency or his accuracy. My issue with two always was the situation of him being able to throw deep. And I saw him connect on, on a couple of beautiful, deep bumps. So it, you know, now was it luck, of course, there's a certain amount of luck involved with that, but, but also you have to think if he's capable of doing. That's all the question was we were wondering, is he capable of hitting, you know, hitting his deep receivers like that. And he showed that he is capable. Now, does that mean he's gonna go out there and do it every time? No, but really what was the biggest question about two was his ability to be able to go, you know, to go deep. And and he, he made a believer outta me. He, he, he looked good. A couple of those were underthrown right. And of course, like, you know, Tyre kill is a, is, is an easy guy to under throw, obviously, right. Given his incredible speed to you. I, I, I don't want, this is not the day to criticize tour, but what I'll say is to my eye, the ball still comes out, slow for him. This is a hell of a game and he turn it on. I, I just, I wanna see more zip a look, if he's getting it done, he's getting it done. This is a hell of a game. I will say. Miss Trubisky had a six touchdown game with the bears and people looked through the box score and were just head over heels and falling in love and saying it's in the corner and this, and. It never really worked out. Right. So I'm not saying this is that obviously the weapons that two has are elite and he's with an extremely brilliant offensive minded coach that clearly knows how to get the most out of his talent and skillset, and also utilize the skillset of the folks around him. So I'm not saying it's that, I'm just saying it's still just one game. It's slow. Just one game. I wanna see more, but this was a hello step or two. And look, he, he, for, at least for this week, he, he proved me wrong about him. And, and so, Mike, well, look, look, it's, I know it's one game, but I, I literally was questioning his ability to be able to throw deep. And I know that he, under some of those look, he under threw. I know, I know he under threw Ty kill, but the whole point is that is he trouble throwing at 60 yards down the field. And we saw that he is. Yeah, no, he is. He is. And, and really Miami's offense just struggled for the most part leading up to that fourth quarter and the Raven's moving it at will. I mean, Lamar Jackson, what's overshadowed here. Lamar Jackson had one hell of a game, right? He had 300 yards passing out, a hundred yards receiving. He had char the only player in NFL history in the same game have two touchdowns of studying five yards or longer. He had an 80 yard rushing touchdown and a study five yard. To rookie Rashad Bateman as well. So hell of a game from Laar Miami just turned it on in the fourth quarter. It was incredible. Yeah. He's look he's what, what, what else can he do? Tyre killed really? And you know, I'm a big fan of that safety for, for Baltimore from is it Notre Dame? Yeah. But, but he, he got, he got a nice baptism by fire you know, all Mr. Tyre. And, and, but, but then Tyreke does that to everybody. He also did it to Marcus Peters. He ran right by him and, and, and I was watching and I'm like, oh my God, he, it looked like, it looked like Marcus Peters was like on, on gear five and, and Tyreek was like year seven. That's how much of differe shoulder was in terms of, you know, him running down? It was just amazing. Just absolutely amazing. He gaves a whole new definition to the term. Elite speed. Incredible. Going back to the jet game real quick. The big mess up here was two. Cleveland had a first down that would've ended the game because the jets had no timeouts left. Okay. And Nick Chub opts the score with 1 55 left on the clock to put him up 30 to 17. Here's the other thing. The hero last week, Mr. York, who kicked the Browns to the victory of 58 yard figgle in Carolina will guess what? He missed the, a extra point. You're thinking. Okay. No big deal. There's slope 30 to 30 to 17, less than two minutes left. No time out. Jets first play of the next drive, blown coverage, 75 yard touchdown pass from Joe Flaco, Joe Flaco, ladies, gentleman to Corey Davis. And then like you said, sure. The improbable recovery, the onsite kick gave me flashbacks to that one a couple years ago that Dallas did against Atlanta where the guy lid li the ball flat. And it did one of those casual little pooch kicks and it just rolls and rolls and bounces funny. Jets recovered it, they just drive. They just drive right down the field. And man, they even had time to spare. So the jets score that final touchdown with like 22 seconds left in the game. It was a 12 play 48 yard drive. And how about the jets? Rookie receiver coming out? Do you see this kid in this one? Char the, a kid from a Ohio state, right? Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Wilson was just sensational in this game for New York. A lot of respect there and Flaco, who's saying, look, I've been around 3 0 7, 4 TDS. I mean, this was a hell of a comeback and look, their kicker did not miss the extra point. And that missed extra point was the difference. 31 30, the Jeff Victorias. And if Nick Chub just goes down, the Browns can ice the game, take three needle downs and end it. But he scored and gave the jet to window and they took it. And this is just a lot to go around for most a coaching. Strategy to defensive breakdowns. It was just, it was so bad for the jets at the end, excuse me, for the Browns at the end and the game they had full control of seeming. Yeah. Here's, here's what I don't like. I, I, I don't like looking at it in hindsight and saying if only if only if only you're up and you just scored a go ahead, touchdown, you're punching it. And you're making a statement. You're tr you're trying to make a statement that, look, we just gotta win last week here. We're gonna, we are gonna beat a, a team that was, that was basically in the same class as us. We got beat them by two touchdowns. Not only are we gonna.'em by one touchdown. We gotta beat em, beat'em by double digits. So this is the thought process that's going through the, through the Cleveland Browns players. And I really can't blame them. The people that I can't blame is their freaking defense. Are you kidding me? You're trying to tell me they gave out what they gave up 50 yards on the second touchdown and they gave out what 80 yards on the on, on the first one, the, the de bomb or 75 yards, whatever it was. Yeah, it was well, well, it was a 75 yard. Yeah. Blown coverage at Corey Davis that put them within one score. And then after, after they recovered the onsite kick, they drove 12 plays, 48 yard, 12 plays. Yeah. Which was capped off by the 15 yard touchdown of Wilson to tie the game. Then the extra point obviously gave the lead. Yeah, look, it's really easy to say if, if Chu, if Chubb would've done this, if no, fuck that char, but you've seen like Todd girly in the past do this a lot, you know, and fantasy owners didn't like it. Todd girl did it. Yeah. Todd Gurley's situation. He was with the winning team. He was with the Rams. The Cleveland Browns are fighting for the survival until their quarterback comes up. They're trying to keep their heads above water because all year they've been hearing how shitty you're gonna be, how shitty they're gonna be. Oh my God. They're gonna be crap. They're gonna be garbage, gonna be garbage. You think all of that was in Nick Chub's mind as he was running it to, to the end zone? Like I, I think, no, I don't think that's going through his mind, but I think the mentality of the jets on the sidelines, like, I mean the, the Browns on the side is like, fuck yeah, you guys, you guys thought that we're a team in the same class as the Browns, check this out, we're beating them by, we're beating them by two scores. We're beating them by two scores. We're them out. I picked the jets to cover, so saved me. But in any case, char, that was one I, so to answer the question, I actually think to me. The dolphins wins the most impressive because I'm sorry, Tua to BYOA 200 yards and four touchdowns in the fourth quarter. I mean, what's more impressive. That's incredible. And I understand the unlikelihood of recovering an onsite kick with all the new rules to me. You gotta go with it to a real quick shower on Cardinals Raiders. This is a tough one. This is the one that makes Raiders sick. You're up 16 points in the fourth quarter. You give up two touchdowns, two, two point convers. Tyler Murray, another eat Crow moment for me, char, I'm not a fan of Tyler Murray, but you gotta give it up on the first two blunt conversion kid runs 85 yards in total scrambling to run it in for the two points, right? Not it wasn't an 85 yard play, but he ran a total of 85 yards up and down across his field. They can't keep up with mighty mouse. And then on the second two point conversion, I mean, what a Gor, he hit that ball in a tiny window between two defenders to AJ green. It was just a beautiful throw. That's beautiful. Send it to overtime. And an overtime hunter run throw fumbles twice second. One's recovered by the Cardinals running for a touchdown. And that's it. That's it just like that the Cardinals win the game. I mean, you gotta be sick of your Raider fan. Yeah, it was. I, I was watching that game and and it was, yeah, it was, it was. It was really, it was really hard to watch because I, I, I love hunter repro. I, I, I wake plays. And if you notice he was trying to get that first down and he's got so much awareness that he was like, literally fighting to get to get that first down so they can keep the drive going. And I think it was Jeffrey Simmons that came in and just perfect, like talked about, talked about a knockout blow. He put a helmet to the side, hit him with the shoulder right in the ball. And it was just, it was just one of those things. It was just one of those freak things. And, and it really, my heart goes out to a hundred Ren for, cause he's such a freaking warrior. He is such a freaking warrior. And unfortunately, you know, he's gonna, this is gonna be on his mind for a. Tough break Raiders falled on two Cardinals, go to one. And. Moving to some more somber news char outta San Francisco, the tray Lance experiment, at least for 2022 is over Trey, Lance breaking his ankle and a couple FRA compound fractures down there and his lower leg against the Seahawks. And this is tough, man. It was early in the game. Jimmy G came in and led the Niners to a 27 to seven victory. But. Tough break for Lance. I guess literally UN figuratively, unfortunately for him. And you know, Shahan caught a little bit of heat from some people saying, well, he was running, you know, five straight QB draws or whatever it was and putting him in harm's way. But you know, you get the kid for the running talent, right. So you're trying to use him for it. And it just was a. An unfortunate way that he went down and as many of these accidents are, it's a freak thing and it, it can happen to any play. And it happened to him. And look now it's we talked about this, it's making this Jimmy G move look really smart. Cause you've got a Superbowl ready team. Lance there's some questions. Was he fully ready? Even leading up to that point. Now you got an experienced veteran coming in and leading the offense. And he, he look, he came in and picked up right where he left off, you know, say what you owe about Jimmy. The guy is an absolute model of consistency and this offense looked like it just never. Missed a beat man. And when, when he came in, Jimmy finishing this game 13 at 21 for buck 54 and a touchdown sharp, your thoughts on the Lance injury and Jimmy coming in and, and getting the victory first team. Well, I mean, terrible injury for the kid. People need to shut up about, oh my God, he did this, you know, I'm so sick and tired of people just playing the Monday morning quarterback you know, oh, if he should have done this and Nick chop should have taken a neon, you know what, shut the fuck up. You get, you get, you get this guy because of his running capability. The same way that nobody expected him to run it five times in a row. Neither the, you know, probably the defense injuries are part of the game they will happen. And, you know and, and you just wish the best for the kid. You hope he makes the speed of recovery and is ready for next year. Now, in terms of Jimmy G what a, what a, what a great move. What a great move in terms of keep him, right. So we knew it was a great, it was the best thing for them because either, either trail lands, unfortunately, Gets hurt in the situation or, or, Hey, maybe you realize a few weeks in the kid's just not ready. You've got a proven option now to go to go to, so either way the work stop for the Niners and I don't know about Usha, you see, it's almost like. There's like a physical reaction to Jimmy and you see the way the team rise around him. The, the spirit got lifted up as soon as he came in the lineup. And I even read a report after this, that there's like players that are, were already saying our offenses so much better with Jimmy in it. We knew the veterans liked him a lot and we're not, I don't wanna say torn, but it was something where they felt like, Hey, we, we, we can win with Jimmy. Do we need to get rid of him type thing? Did this help that? Cause. Yeah, the guys are gonna rally around Jimmy. I mean, his, his smile is infectious. His beauty is, is world class. So yeah. So I mean, how can he not right. How can he not? So but you know, the guys love him. I've, I've heard, I've heard nothing but great things about him. I've heard that he's just a phenomenal, like this guy needs to go for politics, but with, with the exception of the fact that he dates. He dates porn stars, maybe that could come back to haunt him. But, but from everything that I've heard, this guy, this guy is just a phenomenal charismatic character. Yeah. So and, and look, not believe I'm, I'm telling you. I think, I think if Jimmy was playing in that first game, they beat Chicago, you know, you know, so he might have, cuz he he's at least more accurate than lances and maybe he would complete a few more passes there and kept some drives live. Right. But, but that, that game was tough. Anyway, man, that, that game was. The weather almost made it impossible to evaluate anybody in that game. But but yeah, I mean, hello, win for the Niners, but look, it's tough. I, I feel for the kid, Niners are gonna be fine. I mean, you, you could argue, and this is not, this is not kicking a guy while he is down or putting salt in up a wound. You could argue, they, they actually might be better this year. On offense with Jimmy than they would've would trail lands. So you know, I don't them really fall. It's gonna be a different offense, but it's gonna be productive. Yeah. Look, look again, Jimmy, Jimmy is right there between the quarter ranking and probably any. Are from number 12, 13 to number 20. So, I mean, you know, he, he's a, he's a professional quarterback, he's a professional NFL quarterback that, that has done it before. Been there, done that, you know, and, and, and has, and, and knows what it takes to be in the playoffs. So I, I think they're better. And, and look to me, my top two teams and you know, two outta three top two chiefs out of the best three, in my opinion, are the Packers and the, and the Rams. And Hey, the 49ers have both their numbers. The 49ers have both the Packers numbers and the Rams numbers. So it's like, yeah, they're, they're, they're classing. It's the kind of team where, when you measure everything on paper, They might not stack up to, to like green bay or the Rams, but I can guarantee you, those guys don't wanna play'em they want no for, oh, absolutely not. They don't. You, you think, you think the 49ers are gonna be afraid, like, let's say, you know, if you fast forward three, four months into the future and they have to go either play you know a wild card or championship game NFC championship game, either in LA or in green bay, you think they're afraid of it. They literally were one dropped interception away from going to the super bowl. Yeah, no, they are a ball tested team with a ball tested QB. They won a lot with, and look it's it's, it's, we're off, we're off to the races, man, Jimmy G back at the helm sooner than we thought. And he gets to keep keep us to starting roll for this season at least. And and it's gonna be interesting to see how this goes, man. I mean, we'll see how far they go, if, but I mean, if, if Jimmy G hates you to a super bowl, do you let him, do you let him. He still hand the keys to, I mean, Lance that's that's. That is an interesting question. We're we're not anywhere near that part of the season, but damn. What do they do that if that, if he goes to the super bowl and if he wins it? Absolutely. I think winning his, what if he goes though? Yeah. But then if they lose, because he can't make the big throws, like, like against Kansas city a couple years ago. Yeah. Okay. What, what if he, what if they go and they lose, but not because he couldn't make the big throw. So you're telling me that Jimmy ends up throwing for 2 95. Yeah. And 2, 2, 3 touchdowns on one interception. They have to keep them, they have to keep them. Okay. Okay. Okay. Interesting hypothetical. We're not again, we're not anywhere near that, but man, would that be a juicy storyline char right? You speaking of storylines, what, what did I say? So week one, the, the, the, the comic relief I was rooting for was for the Browns, the. The Panthers wizard, Jacob Burett as kind of like a haha to baker Mayfield, right? It just is common. Really? Remember what I said this week? I said, wouldn't it be funny if after all the bashing public bashing Jim Mercer did of Carson wins, basically making him the scapegoat for all our failures, namely that week 17 flu of a performance last year that had to miss the playoffs. Now they've. Matt Ryan is supposed to be this, this, you know, seasoned you know, a battle tested veteran. Who's been to a super bowl and played in big games. He's gotta be the answer, right. Well, how about this cult at Jags? Same teams, same venue, worse result, Jaguars just TRS the cults 24 to nothing. I mean, what a performance by that? Number one we'll pick Trayvon Walker. Get into the quarterback again. Trevor Lawrence looking good. Two touchdowns to Christian Kirk, James Robinson, the guy you keep saying, char, they're trying to get rid of. He keeps ticking. He's clearly the workhorse back over there. Jaguar, the phenomenal performance. They're at one on one and now char two games in indie could not log a win against Houston. And now Jacksonville, they sit at oh one and one in the AFC south. What the hell is going on in, in ind? And my God ate. You need to apologize to Carson wins. Pick up the phone, call the kid and apologize right now because it was not him, buddy. It was not him. What do you think shark? Well, first of all, it's not never gonna have him. Billionaires do not apologize. Billionaires might deflect and say they've learned from it, but they're not gonna apologize. That's something that I learned early on. through my experience, you know, a couple of these guys, but they don't, they don't apologize. Number one. So, but here's look, it it's, it's just different coaches, different quarterbacks, like, like what is it that this team just can't play against the Jaguars and, and this was in Florida, right? This game was in not even, yeah, it was, but it's not even camp. They got shut out, man. They got shut out. Matt Ryan was golf. Awful. Honestly, you know, you know what I would do next year if they're playing Jacksonville would not. If, when they're playing them next year, what I would do is the entire week I would, I would take the entire team to Jacksonville and stay there and practice practice in Florida. Yeah. But, but, but, but now you're like giving you now you're like kind of giving them more, both board material, I guess, in a way, but yeah, but you gotta figure, okay, here, here's the thing. Why, why can't they beat them? It's it's not, I mean, you can't do anything. You can't do anything about. And it was, it was ugly, man. Three picks for Matt, Ryan Sharp. Jonathan Taylor, the great Jonathan Taylor, just 54 yards on nine. I mean the average six yards of pop, but he only got the ball nine times nine carries for Jonathan Taylor. I mean, how does that happen? No, it's it's one of those things they fall behind and, and the quarterback is, is just outta rhythm that he can't get to. You're trying to get him to, you know, get him rhythm for you. And it's one of those curse type of things. It's, it's, it's just it's just, it's just stupid. It it's like, you know what it is. I, I, you know, it's, it's almost like the Cowboys and the playoffs in the last 20 years, you know, they, they, they just have, oh, thanks. I appreciate that one, buddy. Thank, thank you for that. Very lovely comparison. That, you know, I obviously can't relate to it right. In any way. Of course not. Right. I know, I'm sorry. I have to throw that one in there, but, well, Hey listen. Point it's one of those things though, you know, point, point made point made. Yeah. No, it's it it's bad. And look, I mean, looking at the cold schedule at the beginning of the year, you think, okay. Houston, Jacksonville chalk up the two and oh, record, right? I mean, I think anybody would, would think that, but I mean, look and think of it. We'll talk about this. The Titans got blown out last night. They're own to the culture winless. Okay. The Jags are first place at one on one it's early, but like with the Titans going through some transformation, the cults clearly not being who they are. Right. Houston's rebuilding. I think it's week two. It's not inconceivable for Jacksonville to make a serious run at this division. Is it. I mean, are we over reacting a little bit? I know, but look, they, I mean, Trevor Lawrence, 25 out of 32 35, 2 TDS, and they were committed to the run. Look, James Robinson only averaged 2.8 yards of carry, but 64 yards in that long touchdown, like they had a, they had great, great balance. Sure. They ran the ball 37 times in this. I mean, they were committed to the run and they got their plan makers involved. Christian Kirk, Evan Ingram, the two free agent signing char in this game combined for 13 catches for 124 yards. I mean and two TDS. I mean, they're getting used outta their new guys. This is impressive. And the defense, what can you say about the defense man? I mean, they, they shut out a pretty darn good offense on paper, at least Jas man. It's two weeks in, but with how. Influx of Titans. Look with the cults being clearly in disarray and the Texans rebuilding. It it's early, but man, the jazz gotta be, have some confidence, right? I'm I'm sure they do. They, they just gotta keep playing football. So a long season and, and look, it's it's, it's a great, it's a great way to start for them. But again, let's, let's not, let's not right now. You just need to look at the next week and the next week, the biggest mistake teams start making is looking to future. I remember in 96, kuru, we, we started off seven. 1996, my, my first year with the red, cause we started off seven and one and honestly, God, we were all thinking, okay, who are we gonna, who's gonna come and play us in the, in the, you know, because we're gonna have the number one seat. Of course who's gonna come and play us. And K, we ended up with a nine and seven record. Oh. You know, and we were seven and one, and then, and, and our ninth win came against the Cowboys that weren't starting their quarterback and, and their, their, you know, it was without Troy Aikman and right. It was a meaningless game. I remember that. That was the last game at Jack stadium. I remember that. Yeah. So literally, literally in the next, you know, we start, we start off seven and one, and in the next seven games, we literally go one and six. So it it's and, and, and these games, if you're inexperienced, these, these things can creep up on you. So you just gotta, you just gotta, you know, put your head down and just think about, you know, think about. The the, the next game coming up and, and go ahead like that, because here's the thing, the Colts weren't they miss? They were missing SHA what's his name? The, the, the linebacker. Yeah, SHA Shakiel Leonard, Jack Leonard. Jack Leonard. Yeah. Thank you. And they were also playing with their number one white out. So let's, let's, let's everybody. Let's, let's just take a deep breath and, and let's just, you know, just, just listen, listen, or say look, and here's the. Who who did, who did the, who did the Jags lose to in week one? Char reskins who's their quarterback Parson. Wence I arrest my case. No further questions, your honor. Like, like he needs to apologize. He needs to apologize. I'm sorry. I know what he needs to. Okay. Oh boy. God. Okay. So, so, so, so according to this logic, the, the lines, just the lines, just be the Redskins, the Redskins beat. I'm not, it's not that sure. He directly came out and attacked Carson once that's that's D. Agreed. I'm not, that's a, if he had just cut him or released him and traded him, I say, but he, he identified him as the biggest part of the problem publicly agreed. Multiple times. Agreed. That's the problem. I have agreed. So, no, I listen. Yes. In terms I don't about, I don't like car, I'm not a Carson's fan, but, but that was not, that was not right. Hey, listen. Here's what I gotta tell you. I think Carson Wence is the best quarter quarterback. If had, since Mark Griffin or, or Doug Williams. I'm I'm he who hope they had that's better than Carson Wentz. He lives good. I mean, obviously RRG three, his rookie year was pretty damn good, but, but you know what I'm talking, I mean, come on. And here's the thing. And, and Terry MC Lauren and Curtis Samuels and Johan Dodson are probably the three best receivers of Carson Wentz ever played with. Very nice, very nice. I love the kid. I, I love, I love Dotson and I love the way Curtis, Curtis, Samuel, unfortunately had a season, any injury, I think in camp last year. Incredible. He thinks incredible. So big things happening out there in Washington. Right? So, so, so I'm, I'm, I'm just saying Carson win. Remember you and I, you and I were both saying, it's not like that MVP Carson wins all of a sudden forgot how to sort a ball. We were just saying, you know he, so we know he's capable, he's capable of, of doing great things. We know that. We know that. So, and look, no, I look, I, I agree with you. I'm a guy who always defends the players. The fact that you had an owner naming, naming your player, you know what, and again, I don't wanna say that cause I actually liked your me. I actually like him, but you know what? You put the fucking pads on and you go and play, you go and play your me. I, I love to say I'm, I'm love to see, I think there's an imaginary band that he's. But but yeah, he thinks he's Bruce Springsteen. So yeah, I, well, well, in any case speaking of, of revenge, man, Tom Brady finally getting its first regular season win against the saints. I mean, this was a bit of a, this is a bit of a slug Fest, the big theme in this one. Sure. Mike Evans and marshal Latimore, surprise, surprise. Getting into it yet again. Sharp. It's the third quarter, the score is noted up three, three, both defense is playing well, neither offense moving in particularly very well. And I think it was a third down where Brady and looked like he threw a deep pass to like Briad paraman and he looked like he was PI they didn't call it. Brady was pissed and him and Latimore start drawing off at each. You know, and then he started drawing off to lateral. No, don't don't. Yeah. Cause I, I think he didn't get the call and he was saying probably something like you're like, you're lucky you got away with it or stop whatever he was saying about the no call. Right. They started getting after. And then I don't know what was said, whatever happened, Mike Evans got, I mean he perked up and came and just shoved Latimore, knocked him under the ground, scuffle and Suze. And the fallout of that now is Mike Evans is gonna. Suspended for a game. Here's the strange thing about that shark, by the way, I was reading about this, a lot of weird, kinda like conflict of interest, 30 politics here. So the person that, that in state of the suspension is John Runk. I dunno if you remember John run, I knew John run John lineman. Yeah. So John run's son plays for the Packers who are playing Tampa next week. Right. And guess what? Evans is appealing the suspension. Guess who's overseeing the appeal for the suspension. Derek Brooks, the former bucks middle linebacker. Right? You got, you got massive complic OUS on both sides here. I didn't think Evans should suspend cuz Evans was already ejected. To me. That's that, that, that is how is that? No, here's, here's why he got ejected. Here's why he got suspended. Corru. He left, he went, he came across the field. He came across the field and I can tell you this Evans never heard Al Latimore say a word to Tom Brady. He just saw him John off. And what he, and you know, what's funny char you're probably right, because you, you can, you can, you can lip read. Evans when he is trying to justify it. After the fact he said, quote, what do you want me to do? He was, he was talking trash to Tom Brady or something that like, all he saw was. So what do you think of him defending his quarterback like that? I, I, it, I always do. And I think at the end it was a net positive for the bucks cause, oh my God. Char, are you, I mean, so final scores, 20 to 10 after that happened and Latimore was out of the game. Things just open up for the bucks. Didn't it? I mean, escort unanswered points. True. The whole point, why I thought new Orleans was gonna beat them is because I, I remember why I told you, I, I, I said that the anecdotes for my is marshal Latimore. So if, if you gonna take out if they took walk, but they're both out now, right? Yes. But here's the thing, Joe, it's a lot easier to replace Mike Evans with B Parman. Who's already had a rapport with with Tom Brady than to, than to, to try to, to try to stop the box office than against Tom Brady. Yeah. It's a lot more difficult to, to try. You know, you have Tom Brady on the other side. Now, if you didn't have Tom Brady on the other side, then yes. I would say, you know what? It's probably worse for worse for the bucks because they don't have any other receivers. But when you have Tom Brady who knows, he can sort of ball to anybody and make anybody successful, whether it be Scotty Miller or Behar per or whoever they might bring at. Yeah. You know, so that's, that's why I think that's why I think it was a it was a, a positive net positive for the bucks. And, and here's the thing, the reason why Evans came across is because the dude has his number. The dude has his number and he's so frustrated because he can't, he literally can't do anything against Marshon Lamore. So I, I, I get it. I get it. I've been in situations like that before. I, I understand, but, but Evan's had like, he, he was having a pretty decent game up to that point though. Maybe I don't, I don't know if it was all on LA. But statistically he, he was doing okay. Okay. Yeah. I was watching the game, the guy's all over him, the guy like on those routes, he's just, he's just such a phenomenal defender. He's he's all over him. And, and and, and look, I have a friend of mine who really challenges me on saying that Tom Brady's the greatest athlete of all time. And he made a case. He, he BA he actually believe it or not. He send me, he send, send me a document showing me that Tom Brady. Is the, has the worst stats for any winning quarterback, super bowl, winning quarterback through the through the super bowl era. And that he's had the greatest defensive performances ever. And I always keep telling them that, that, okay, you know what, Tom Brady has a lot to do with those guys playing so well. And, and things like that. And this game, he just let me have it. He was just saying, okay. Oh really? Tom Brady's that grade really? How great is Tom Brady? And it it's, it's like what game? When he is 45 going into Saint's defense, like, like this sky partner has an agenda. Tell, tell you what though. He does course he does. He does make some, a lot of, he does make a lot of convincing points. I gotta, I gotta tell you that I'm not even gonna, I'm not even gonna go there. I'm gonna cause it it's it's the stupidest argument. Like every quarterback that has had success has had team around them and good coaches and good receivers. Like, it's just, it's just dumb, right? Like these people wanna see somebody, you know from the gutter and, and play for the worst coach and have a bunch of force stringers on their team. And then you have to win 10 super bowls. And then, and then, okay, now you're really good. No that's but Tom, but Tom Brady's numbers. Like when, when you look at the statistics, it's eye opening, it's eye opening. I, I might, I might have to, like one of these times that we have extra time, I might have to come and read it to you and, and get your reaction. So it's a coincidence that he's been attempting to roles in one seven of them. And it's a coincidence that was when they file, he calls him, he calls him the luckiest person in humanness. Yeah. Right. These are, these people say, right. It's just, when you, when you, when you can. Go anywhere else and explain the results you have to just defer to it. It's luck. It must be luck. Right. And when someone goes to that many ear balls, I'm sorry, it's some, it's not luck anymore, buddy. Anyway, and by the way, you know what that matters most to me, the one season they give Tom Brady an elite target and Randy Moss, what does he do? Shatters every passing record known to man that year. He never had Reggie Wayne or Marvin Harrison or those. And you give it to him and he absolutely destroys the record book and goes undefeated. I'm sorry. That's not luck. Anyway. Let's moving on. Big win for the buck. Shark bucks, play host for the Packers next week. That'll be a good one. That'll be a good one. Obviously, if Evans is in the lineup, Yeah. Gonna be a little bit, but Chris, look, Chris, Godwin's gonna probably play they're they're gonna, they're gonna maybe ju cause yeah, Julio was out for this one. Evan's got suspended. Godwin was out. I mean, they were really, and they signed who do they sign Beasley, baby Beasley. Mr. Cole Beasley is a fucking ear now. So who knows he is gonna get in the game, but interesting signing for the books. Right? If he look, if he plays, I'm gonna put the over and under on his receptions at six and a half. Really? Yeah. Okay. Okay. He likes his tiny little slack eyes right down. Right. Cold, cold, cold Beasley is like, it's, it's like a, a quicker, more explosive Julian Edelman. Right. You know, he, he is what, 33, 34 years old. And it's prime. He was, I'm interested to see if he's still in that type of form. Right. But yeah, but he was pretty darn good. Last. He was pretty darn good. Last year. He was good. He was good. So we'll see how that plays. We'll see. Look, we'll see if Derek Brooks overseeing a case where he can help the bucks, you know, does fair for his old team and overturns Evan's suspension. We'll see about that. It's it's not gonna get overturned because if here's the thing, if he wouldn't, if, if Mike Evans would've been in the vicinity and he got in the fight, then it would've been left at the fact that it's. You know, the, the injection, he came across the field, he came across the field. So I don't think, yeah, yeah. It's, it's no question. It's gonna be an uphill battle over there for him to have a shot at even playing in this game. So more than likely to not the bucks are gonna be without the services of Mike Evans, just like char the Cowboys were without the services of one Dak, Prescott, but somehow some way, are you a cowboy fan again? Absolutely not. Are you sure? Are you sure? No, I think, I think, I think you Dishon the cowboy. Got got them to take this win. Well, you know what, then, then, then, then they need to do it again next week then, because I'm, I'm still just selling them. It was a nice win. Okay. So look, you gotta say it's impressive. Cooper rush really on, on paper had a better day at the office than Joe burrow, Cowboys defensive story than this one though. Char holding Joe burrow to less than 200 yards passing six sacks in this game. And how about mic Parsons? Two more sacks for him. And the Cowboys had 15 QB pressures in this game, 10 of them, 10 coming by way of Michael Parsons. This guy just seems. Unblockable. I mean, UN unreal and great to see for the Cowboys too. He lost Randy Gregory's Armstrong, the speed rusher. They got out the university, Kansas few years back he's coming on. He added two sacks of his own as well. And like loud Collins, man. Not, not a good homecoming for him. Pebble fall false start penalties. He got beat consistently you know, by both DeMarcus Lawrence and Michael Parsons. He was just seeing ghosts, man. It was a tough, tough game for. Cooper rush played good enough. Played. Good enough. And I think for me in this game, the frustrating part with the Cowboys is just like against the bucks. You have a great opening drive, you score. And then really not much after that. Sure. In the second half, the Bengals possessed the ball for 22 of the 30 minutes, the Cowboys only had the ball for eight minutes. Were completely shut out in the second half, they were losing 14, nothing in the second half, and they just needed one last drive by Cooper rush to get in range for Brett Maher, 50 yard field goal to lift them 20 to 17. Pass the Bengals. Char were you impressed at all by this win from Dallas? I I, I was because honestly there wasn't much of a drop drop off in, in, in quarterback performance from Dak Prescott to Cooper rush. I don't know about that. I mean, come on. I, I know you're fair. Not really. You have to really scheme it, right? Like once you get in a drop back passing game, he gets flustered. A lot of balls get tipped. Like he has, he has a lot of limitations, but, but they did a good job. I think designing plays and limiting the playbook to his strength. It's just, he, he's very limited in what he can. Yeah, no, look, it it's kudos to Cowboys. I still want to talk to the Bengals and say, do you still think that you shouldn't play your offensive line in the preseason? Yeah. So that, that that's now 12 times Joe burrow has been sacked across the first two games of the season. I mean this old line looks worse. Doesn't it? It's yeah. It's not a it's it's not a good, it's not a good situation. Look, they long Collins, we know he's a good, we know he's a good offensive tackle. Yeah, he is. We, we know he's a good offensive tackle. Was it Alex capo? Who's who's the guard like, like we know they have good offensive line. Yeah. Alex CAPA. And then they got yeah, they, they added a center to who the center they added was. Yeah. They added four new guys on their. My, my point is, so it has to be schematic. I mean, like it has to be schematic. So I, again, I said it last week, I wanna talk this week. I really want to talk to the offensive line coach. Of the, of the Bengals and say, how are you, what kind of, what kind of a protection schemes are you running when you offensive line? Look at some point, at some point when people are beating your players, one on one, anybody can coach, if you say, well, just go and win the one on one, a good coach is gonna try to figure out a way to help out the shortcomings of his players. No question and, and it just, it just didn't, it just didn't happen. I really wanna know who to who the offensive line coach for the Bengals is and, and what his qualifications are because it's, it's just crazy. It's, it's just crazy how he's not helping out that old line. Well, like you said, old lines, a lot about continuity and playing together and this, you know, four of the five guys are new, you need, and you don't play. You do not play in the preseason to me, that's asinine to me. That's just ridiculous. Well, look the Bengals line coach, I looked that up, pretty sure. A guy named Frank Pollack, he's coached 16 years in the NFL and and you know, he's, he's been on the league for a very long time or earned his strips apparently. So he's no, he's no slouch. Well, you don't know that he might. I mean, like, do we really do we really it's it's it's what, what, what, he's the lack of scheming for, to protect Joe burrow is criminal. It is criminal and I don't wanna see Joe bur be another Andrew luck where ton of talent can't protect him. Right. And the guy never sees his potential. So Tufts led in there Cowboys next week. The giants and that could be for first place in the NFCS early on as the giants. Oh my God. but yeah, I mean, let's be honest. Doesn't really matter who wins the NFC east? I mean, this, this is, Hey look, the Eagles are pretty good now don't don't discount the Eagles look great. Actually, that's, that's a great segue into our next segment, right? Would be last night, Monday night bills over the Titans, 41 to seven off the back of four. Josh Allen touchdowns. Three of. Going to Ste dicks and Jaylen hurts. The kid looking absolutely sensational. He throws for 300 plus yards, Darius slate, two interceptions of her cousins who threw three total intercept interceptions in this one, Eagles 24 to seven impressive victory for them as well. Although there was no scoring in the second half of this one, all the scoring was done on the first half, but good defense throughout for Philly. What win impressed you more Buffalo, 41 7 over the Titans or Philly. 24 7 over Minnesota. I think they're, they're both extremely impressive, but look Tennessee, we both said Tennessee, isn't looking the same this year. They've no regressed. I've been, I've been on the mountain top in terms of fantasy saying don't pick Derek Henry, don't pick Derek Henry, he's coming off injury. Here's the guy that, that finally got, you know, finally got injured for the first time and, and he, he doesn't look the same and, and literally in all my fantasy leagues, I, I haven't had. And I've been saying that. So we both see the Titans weren't, you know, didn't get better, but I didn't think it was gonna be by a score like that. I, I honestly didn't think that the bills were gonna outscore'em, you know, outscore'em like that. But having said that, you know, I'm a big believer in Minnesota and what their offense can do the way Philly's forget, forget Philly's scoring on Minnesota defense. That's that's, that's a given, right. But the way they shut down the Minnesota offense to me, that's nuts. Yeah. I mean, look, this is, this is you have to, it's not nuts to me. This is Minnesota. This is what I tried to tell you. At the beginning of the year, Minnesota is the, is the epitome of a 500 team. They're always flirting with being really good or not. Good enough. And I look, they'll probably be great next week. This is who Minnesota is. They're never consistent. They can't ever put it together and look, Kirk cousins is what he is, man. I'm sorry. He's gonna look good in a confined controlled environment when everything is fine and perfect and lined up, he's gonna be good. As soon as you hit adversity, be where at Kirk cousins, man, in prime time on the road, forget about it, forget it. And this is who, this is who they are. This is who they are. Okay. And then there does, I mean, to your point, there does seem to be a lack of an intangible that. The great players that the players have. And and what can I say? I, I, I still love the talent of of Minnesota along with that offensive genius that they have as a head coach. I still like it. Yeah. And I, I, I like it. I just wanna see if it leads to a different result this time. And through your point, char Philly, it looks good. It looks very good. I mean, they had a very, their defense is phenomenal. Their front seven on defense is phenomenal. They have good DBS and then their offensive line is phenomenal and their running game is phenomenal. So you're talking, you're talking about a team, that's gonna run the ball and, and, and predicated on running the ball and getting five, six yards a clip. And then their defense just comes and punches you in their mouth. I like, I like them. I like. Yeah. And, and look, next week, man, they go at the commanders and the Cowboys are at the giants. So there could be some shake up in the NFC east next week. But but I you're right, man. I mean the Eagles look like the class of the east. I'm not saying the east is a great division, but the east does look better than maybe we, we gave him credit for coming into the season thus far through through two weeks. And let's just talk about Buffalo real quick, man. I. These guys just looked apart. If they're just unbelievable. To me, this one was about, again, the defense, just, you know, this is now 17 points they've allowed in two weeks on this defense. Unbelievable. They had a pick six, a pick six in this game. Josh Allen looks unstoppable. I mean, I don't know if to say this team is, is it's only two weeks in they're steam rolling people. They're steam rolling people right now. Yeah, no, they're they're doing, they're doing great. The. The only thing I don't like about this, like the only negative look you always, as somebody who analyzes this sport it's really easy for us to sit here and say, oh, Buffalo's great. They're gonna win the super bowl. They're done, you know, pack it in. So what, what our job is, is try to look at it and, and, and see what are some of the issues that might be stumbling blocks. Correct. So the only, really the only stumbling block that I can see for them is that they're peaking too. Is this and look, if that's their only stumbling block, that's how good they're I agree. But like they might sustain it the full year. You never know. You never know, but I agree. I agree. But, but out of the gate, they're definitely not. They're definitely not disappointing. They're they're living up to that. Super role hype out of the gate east. So we shall they're, they're, they're playing, they're playing phenomenally. But, but, but again, let's, let's just relax for a second. Let's understand the play. They played a Rams team that that, that didn't have any didn't have any preseason experience. I know you gotta defend your LA team. It's it's key. It's so cute. I mean, no, I'm not defending my LA team. They, they, late and eight, what I'm trying to say is that the Ram team that they beat wasn't that great. So how am I defending the LA. How, how am I, how am I doing that? But I mean, but I mean, char the Rams are all, all star in a bad team either, right? Like, I mean, I mean, like that did the Ram really the Rams that you've seen in, in, in, in this first two weeks, are you impressed by them? They're okay. I mean, exactly for the super bowl champs, are you impressed by them? Yeah, but I mean, it's, it's the answer is no, you're not. You just don't wanna answer. Impressed by these guys. You're just trying to, you're trying to downplay Buffalo. It's every time we figure that I'm trying, I'm trying to say relax. I wanna see, I wanna see what they do against the team. Like let's see, like one of the AFC west teams not called the Raiders. I wanna see how they play against them. I wanna see how they play. Look, bills, bills, play Miami. Next is, is that, is that, is that good enough? It would be their best challenge so far. Okay. Okay. And I'm, I'm sure if they win, you'll find another reason to no, I would, I would say that, that the, that the dolphins aren't that great. Okay. They're they're good. Are you trying to tell me the dolphins are great? No, but I'm, I'm trying to say like, who do they have to be? Because at this point you can say anybody well, it's so early in the season and you can make an excuse for anything. Well, cool. Well, okay. What do you want to do you want me economists world champs and let's call the season. Actually I do. I'm just kidding. No, I No, I I'm just giving you a hard time. I know. Look you're right. Honestly, I agree with your assessment a hundred percent, they look great, but we've seen this two teams can peak too early. That's definitely a thing. And you don't wanna do that. Right. And so that, that you know, that that's not completely beyond the pale if, if, if they are peaking too early, so we'll have to wait and see what man damn impressive what they've been to do. So. Right. I agree. Agree. No, it it's look. And again, for, for me, literally, I said, if I have, if I have to sit there and tell you that the biggest negative that I've seen is the fact that they're peaking too early. That's the biggest compliment I can give you the, the they're they're doing something right so far so remains to be seen, but man, with the way Miami won against Baltimore and how Buffalo has been an absolute bus saw, that's gonna be an interesting week, three tilt as well. So looking forward to that man, shark. We'll be back later this week to preview these matchups and much more for week three. It's been fun, buddy. Absolutely. And, and listen, you're cowboy. Wow. They're just they're. They're they're win streak, buddy. Stop. Yeah, one game win streak, please, please. I will say the, the defense is nice, but look, my ultimatum stands until. Mike MCRT as long as miker is the head coach. I'm sorry. It's I'm I'm I'm done. I watched the game, you know, the, the, the game mix channel that has like, like, like, you know eight games at once. They were tiny little, there were a tiny little square. I did not at any point full screen that game. No point they, they, they can join the rest of the ranks of the league and waste somebody else's time. So it was a good win, but, but I'm still, they're sold the game mix, the game mix channel for me. That is, that is, that is, that is so funny and so beautiful. I, I, I'm just I just can't say enough about, but your breakup and your heartbreak with the Cowboys. I mean, like I get it, I'm gonna say strong this time until I see some real change. Yeah. I can't go back, man. You know, my emotional mental health is too important. I hear you, man. I hear you buddy. in any case, buddy, always a pleasure in a couple days, we'll do this again. And until next time. Yes, sir. Have, have a great day to talk to you soon.
