We are back on the axis of football. Thank you all those audience out there for tuning in SAVI alongside Char p Donk, what a week five? It was beginning on Thursday. We'll talk about the fall from Ray, Seemingly that Russell Wilson has had culminating in a tough, tough overtime loss to the Colts, both LA teams doing some head scratching things. We'll talk. That the, the Niners putting on a beating on the Panthers that subsequently led to Matt Rule being relieved of his duties as head coach as of this morning and some puzzling endings in Arizona and in Tampa that will get to the Cardinals and the Falcons losing in inopportune ways down the. Sure. Before we get to it, I know we didn't get to record a preview episode last week. I know you weren't feeling too hot. I'm still kind of back and forth from the hospital to work life to two kids with the baby in to, So as we've just had some, some life, some life problems, man, lately. Yeah. It's well, you know, again, congratulations to you again for your new addition to your family, but yeah, I, I, I've been sick this whole entire week. Kind of made things difficult a little bit. Life just happens, man. Listen, listen. If were, were we pitching, were we trying to pitch Jeff Bezos a few weeks ago? Listen, if, if Jeff Bezos wants to sponsor this podcast and you know, pay, pay my salary you know, I'll gladly quit it. All right? That's, but This is where we are, right? We've, we've got, we've got, you know, sometimes cold season, we've got kids, we've got life personal stuff. So we're, we're we're human too. Well, I know some people that I think you're human shark cuz you're just an Adonis over there. But I'm definitely, I'm definitely, You know what, when I look in the mirror, that's exactly what I think. I'm like, Wow, what an adonis. That's like the first and foremost thought in my head. please gimme a break. May, May, maybe a decade or so ago at least, right at some, at some. Yes, but, and, and around my early forties, yes, but now not so much. Listen, I'm in my late thirties and I'm not there, so So more, more power to you. You know, speaking of people that might be past their prime, Wilson man, 12 to nine loss on Thursday night. It seems like a distant memory, but we gotta talk about it. Cause we didn't really get to record late last week. This was. This is the field goal fest in this one. And it wasn't just the Broncos lost, it was the way they lost, right? Russellville Wilson throwing two interceptions in this game. 274 yards, but really sharp. Broncos could not muster any type of meaningful offense in this one. And let the really, the, the, the cols, who, let's be honest, they, they weren't doing a ton either on offense, let them hang around, and they took the momentum to control the end of the game. The Broncos show had this game in hand actually, right? They, they had the ball, they were driving at the end. It was about two minutes or so left in the game, and the Broncos were up six to nine. And you know, Russell Wilson and Explicably throws an interception in the end zone to Stefan Gilmore. It gives the Colts one last hope, which even there, I. You've got the ball. There's two minutes in change left. Why you just run it. It's one of those situations like you could take a knee kick a field goal, and now the colts are forced to score touchdown and win the game. You're, you'd be up 12 to six. No one wants score on a touchdown the way this game was going, that was the only thing they gave them life. So of course, what does indie do? They drive down. Kick can feel a little tie it and then play defense in overtime, get the ball back and kick another field. The goal to get the 12 nine victory, and this was just a really, really, really bad loss from just not, it's on the thing. You hack it. And on Russell Wilson in terms of the decision to throw at the end there and then just Russell Wilson not be able to, must up any kind of offense, man. What did you see when you saw this? I was, I was bewildered because honestly, I I've been waiting for Russell Wilson to break out saying that, Okay, new team, new system, you know? Yeah. Who can throw the ball? He's gonna come out of it. And maybe I was making excuses for him saying that they had such a dynamic running back that they were gonna lean on him. But then when GTE got her, GTE Williams. Yeah, I, I started actually in fantasy. I started buying shares in Jerry Judy because I thought, Okay. They're gonna throw more. Yeah. It's gonna be, it's gonna be Russell Wilson's time and and I, I don't know what to say. It's, it's like if you would've asked me that Seattle is gonna go to, you know, Geno Gina and lose Russell. And they're gonna be successful. And the Broncos are not. I mean, I remember you picked the Broncos to to win the division. Right. And rightfully so. You know, it's char, I, I, I actually, I I did one worse, man. I'm gonna fall on my own sword here. I think I had the Broncos in the conference championship game. That's so, listen, listen, I, I, I, I gotta, I gotta think about medicine, right? Right. But I mean, honestly, Who would've thought that you put a team this good on Ron Russell Wilson and it would actually be worse off and, and that Seahawks seem like, I don't wanna say they're better off, but they're getting, I mean they're getting better quarterback play outta Smith than the Broncos are getting out of Russell Wilson in their uniform. Are they not? Oh, Absolut, absolutely. I mean, Seattle lost yesterday. Genome Smith balled out. I mean, he's hasn't because of. No, no. Noo And I'm, I'm, I'm no fan of Geno Smith. I'm not, I'm not a fan of Geno Smith. Okay. I'm not either, but he is this year he's doing it. Yeah. And because I, I remember, I remember that that incident that he had where his, the linebacker, his back linebacker broke his jaw when he was with the jet. And, and remember you and I spoke about that, and I'm like, you're trying to tell me that a linebacker hit his quarter quarterback and his lineman didn't jump into just kill that guy like Absolut. Showed that down, that that showed me that the guy was not. I mean, I mean, you, you, you know my personality course. Imagine I'm on a football team and, and, and a and a linebacker goes and breaks my quarterback show. What do you think I'm gonna do? And you, you, you know me now. Oh yeah. I mean, I, I would eat that guy. I would absolutely eat that guy. What would anything So that doesn't, I was thinking about that maybe he learned from that. Maybe you've gotten past that, but by the way, I don't wanna make this all about bashing Russell Wilson. Obviously, when you only muster up three field goals, don't get in the end zone. Have struggled the previous four games leading up to this. Yes, it's gonna fall and you, you've basically signed a 245 million contract. Yes, it's gonna back to the quarterback. But look, I actually misspoke. How this game ended. The Colts got the ball drove down, kicked the field goal to go up 12 nine. Seattle gets it back. They drive all the way down. They're in field goal range. Okay. And they offshore on fourth and one from the five yard line. Instead of kicking the, well been a tying field goal, there was still 2 38 left in overtime. So maybe at that point you think, okay, if Kiki field goal here likely ends in a tie, cause we gotta give the ball back to, to Indy. They kick, they take, it was a 12 to nine game. What are you talking about? Tell that you're worried about their offense going down the field and and score. I think what they were thinking was this is our chance to win the game because if if best case scenario, they're probably gonna tie even if they get the ball back. So in any case, yeah, on a fourth and one. Okay. Russell Wilson. Throws a past complete to corland. Sudden he actually had KJ Hamer streaking down wide open on a SL touch vision. He touched on he tunnel visioned, corland. Sudden, and there's two. So couple things in note here. That was eerily similar to the Super Bowl play in 2014. The little pick play, they ran that Russell, it was deeper, but yeah, it was, it was deeper than that pass. But yes. And again, it's like it's fourth and one. You're close to the goal line. Maybe you just run the ball here, like, like, and that way. But let's say, let's say you run the ball, you get it on fourth and one. Okay. And then let's say from there, you aren't able to punch it in first on second on third down, you're able to punch it in. You run more time off the clock. So even if you kick a field goal, You probably have left much less time now for Indy to come back and, and score and win the game. So like it was perplexing to me there. They obviously wanted to win the game on that play. So really, here's what I, across Wilson Char throwing two interceptions in scoring range, right? That first one. And tell me this, char, why when you're up nine to six, there's two minutes, 19 seconds left in the game. Okay? You've driven 11 plays in 72 yards. Okay. Why are you throwing the ball there? Yes, I know it's third and four. The goal there, it's over the way this game was going. No one's scoring a touchdown, right? You would've forced Atlanta to have to go basically 75, 80 yards with two minutes left to win the game. Like why? Why? And then by running it there you also forced to, to, to waste the time out. Like to me, that was the most boneheaded decision. So I'm just trying to say Char. This falls on Nathaniel Hacke as well. Those two decisions to, to throw on that third down, that gave Indy the pick that enabled to tie the game and then at the end there to, to throw it on that fourth down the end of the game. And overtime just, that's just bad coaching as well. You, you can't, This is what I was on point to. I I was gonna say here's the thing. I understand. If you go for. But not to go for a touchdown. Going for exactly what you said. I would go for a first down to run the clock out. Yeah. They won not to win the game. On that play, I mean, here's the thing. If you don't want to take, if you don't wanna kick a field goal because you think the other team will go down and kick a field goal against you, scoring a touchdown puts you in the same situation, the other team can go down and score touch on it, if that's what you worry about. No, no, no. But your touchdown, what? End of the game? A touchdown. What end of the game. They were up by. How much? What are you, are you referring to overtime or the fourth quarter? In the fourth quarter? Ah, the fourth. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, you're right. I mean, at that point, no, cuz they, it would've ended the game. They were up three points, right? So a touched on there would've made it a two score game with two minutes left. So it would've effect the end of the game. It would've effect the ended the game. But regard, regardless. Regardless, you, you wanna run the clock out and their running bags had, Look, they had 22 carries for like 92 yards, right? Yeah. They, I mean, Melvin Gordon was playing decent. Yeah. And, and, and it doesn't, it doesn't flash out to you to say their running backs carried 22 times for 92 yards. But Russell Wilson also had four four rushes for 22 yards. I'm sorry. They had 92 yards. So you're talking about 114 yards on on 20, What is that? 26 carries. You're talking about almost five yards of carry. You gotta look, I've always been a proponent of if you have, unless if you have a Peyton Manning or Tom Brady, You do some kind of a play, play action rollout to where the, to where the quarterback can roll out, hit some kind of a crossing, or at the very least, he just dives them for a first time. I've never understood. And, and, you know, and, and we're gonna talk about another game, that stuff like this happened where, you know, with, with the Packers, they could have done the same thing, but I just, I just, I just don't get. This, this whole idea of you don't trust your defense to stop it. I'm, I'm one for like, you know what? I take my points, I jump ahead and the other part of the game is defense. You play fucking defense. These analytics people have made it seem like there's only offense and, and defense is a close distance and short, especially, especially in a game that's nine to six. We're not, we're not talking about a 38, 35 ballgame here, right? Like Absolutely. Yeah. I think this shows like, yes, on one hand, technically, you're right. If you score a touch on there and go up by two scores with two minutes left, the game is effectively over. But what he's not understanding is, Like the reading game flow, the way this game is flown, it's a defensive game. The chance is if we just take our, you know, let's take the the temporary L by not, let's run the ball. Let's say we don't, by the way, you could run the ball and still get a first down. Let's still possible. Is it not? Right? Right. But like worst case, we run the ball, We don't get a first down. We make waste of time out. Now that I've got two minutes in change to score a touchdown, which they have not done the entire game, I like my odds there a lot better than if I put it in the air. I have a much high risk of a turnover. Right? I, I, Look, here's the thing, when, when, when you are running the ball, I, I always, especially for, for one yard, okay. One or two yards or, or or whatever it is. What was this down a distance? There were fourth, Well, this was a third and four, This is third and four. So, but, but I'm just saying like, even if you don't get. A six point lead with two minutes left the way this game was going. You feel pretty good about that. You feel really good about that. Yes. You're deep, literal talking of Absolutely. They gave the col the, like if I was a col span, I'd be thinking, Please throw out here cuz that's my only chance. That's my only chance at winning. And they did it right. And then of course the cols, you know, they, they credit them right. They had a hell of a drive. Okay. But, but here, here's, here's the thing though. This is what I, I always talk about analytics. It never understands if this was technical. I get, I get it. If this was Madden, I get it. We're talking about human beings. You don't think that defense, when they missed, when, when, when they, when they got their offense didn't convert, you don't think their defense was, was their psyche was hurt by that. Oh, for sure it was. And now, now I've gotta run to the field all of a sudden. Exactly. I'm not expecting it. Yeah, exactly. And look, and that, and that was arguably your. That was probably the Cole's best driver of the night. It was 10 plays, 67. Why is that? Oh my goodness. Imagine. Imagine that, that the cols offense all of a sudden jumps to. After they get a boost in, in football is a game of emotions. I don't know how many times I, I, I have to fucking scream this outta my goddamn fucking head. All right. Football is a game of fucking emotions. When, when you put your look, you always wanna put pressure on the other side. Force stem into having to go down the field and not make any mistakes. Exactly. I, I agree there and, and I, what I'm trying to say here, Right now a lot of LA blame was on Mu Wilson, rightfully so, cuz he obviously Five games in has not played up to that 245 million contract. But man, Nathaniel Hackett, I don't think he's been him, a lot of fan. We've talked, he's made several boneheaded decisions throughout the season so far. I mean, he's looking like he could be a disaster already as head coach and I guarantee you. If it comes down to who's gonna go, it's gonna be hacking. And I know it's early, absolutely, but Absolutely. But you know but I'll tell you, Russ has not. What do you think Bill would've done in those situations? What do you thinky Reed would've done in those situations? Oh yeah. The smart question. Right. Take the points now, you know, it has to be said, like we said on that last plane. Overtime, it doesn't help Russ's case that KJ Hamer was streaking wide open. Right in his, right in his eye. Right. And Russell Wilson was tunnel biling. Corland sudden. Yeah. But, but here's the thing to ro I, I mean, the whole point of me saying you put the pressure on the other team to make a mistake, when you go for it on a situation like that, all the pressure is on you to make a mistake ala not hit the open guy. Aa, drop an open pass. All I'll fumble a. So many things. What I'm saying is, what I'm saying is you're, you're, you're paying Russell Wilson that kind of money to see the open guy at the very least, right? Like, like that's my point is like, you know, a lot of quarterbacks see the guy freaking wide open. Agreed. Agreed. And, and, and, and look, when you bring a guy and you pay him as a second highest or third highest paid quarterback, or is it the highest? I don't, I don't know what the, I think he's, I think he's right in Aaron Rogers range. I think it's like second highest. He's right. Who's right up there, right? Yeah. Would you bringing a guy like that, And, and it's not working. It's not fucking working. And GTO Smith is making it work in Seattle. And, and, and I'm telling you that, that, that the two issues don't have anything to do with each other. But you don't think fan bases look at that. You don't think coaches look at that. You don't think general managers and owners look at that? Yeah, it's it's not good. And so look, I mean, just a quick autopsy. Bronc goes week one, lost 17, 16. At Seattle barely muster a win against the Texans at home. They win 16 and nine against a Texans. Week two, week three, they beat Niners 11 to 10 and it was really ugly game. It was Jimmy G's first official start post trail land injury. So they won that one game, 11 to 10, and then they get thumped in Vegas by the Raiders 32 to 23. And then this, this latest fiasco with the offense not being able to get out of its own way. Against the cold. So just not an ideal start. And now, now they're going to la to play the Chargers, to play the jets who aren't, who aren't a gimme right now. I mean, they've gotta get it together in a hurry here. They do. Yeah. You know what, here, here's, here, here's the thing. I, I promise you, if they play the Niners again today, then would get thumped. Yeah, I agree. I agree. Okay. Because that was Jimmy's first game coming back and that was really their defense. That, that, that, that really stepped. Yeah. And look, the defense played well. I mean, you, you held the, you held the team to six points up until two minutes left in the game, right? I mean, the defense, the defense did what they were supposed to do. So no, no. No blame on there, but sure. Let's, let's go to another topic when we're talking about the issue of pressure being on the hot seat. Well, Matt, rule seat just got blazing hot. So hot that he can't sit on anymore. He's out in Carolina Shore. David Tepper, the hedge fund billionaire, has seen enough. Despite Char signing him to his seven year 70 million deal less than two and a half years ago, Matt rule is out and look this, the latest gaff, a 37 15 loss at home to the Niners. That place had way more red than it did turquoise. Whatever they are, they turquoise, steel, whatever, whatever the Carolina campus color is, right? But that place was crawling with red. It was basically red and empty. I dunno, you saw that crop. It was red jerseys and empty seats like that was. You saw hardly any Panther fans there. They know those teams a joke. And you know, I think actually the sad part is you know, Matt ruled did a decent job building the roster around the quarterback could just never get the quarterback figured out, right? He got Sam Donald Baker Mayfield. Neither of them played particularly well or really could sustain any kind success there. And now he's gone and sure, he's, I mean, look, at first I was like, ah, you know, poor. The guy, the guy has, I mean, Tepper has to buy his contract out. The guy's got 40 million coming in his way over the next four and a half years. Right. I mean, that is if he doesn't take another coaching job in the college ranks. Right, right. In which case, like that would ob and they're saying the one of the reasons why to fire him now there's a few, there's a few coach openings and the college ranks, you know, and if the, and if he gets a job there, whatever they pay him would be, have to pay the difference. So, but I mean, at the end of the day, a guy having the option to be unemployed for four and a half years and still make 40 million, that's not a bad place to be. Right. So it's like it's only, it's only so sorry feel for the guy. It just, it just, it just didn't work. Right. And we see this often chars that these guys come from the college ranks. They got a ton of success. It doesn't quite materialize that same way in the pros. What did you think of his decision to fire Matt? Role I. I, I'm, I'm not a big fan for firing people mid-season because this isn't even mid-season. This is like early season still. Well, yeah, I guess week five, week six, so yeah. A third. Yeah. We, I mean, I mean, yeah, I, The other thing I'm thinking, Char, I think, and I hate to say it, I think it's gonna be, it's gonna be a billionaire battle here, cuz I think Tepper is gonna go after Sean Payton. I think this is a move to now. Woo. Sean Payton worried. Is worried. This is funny. This is great. I am worried. I am worried. You know, and, and now I also question him with the Saints, release him of his contract and let him go back in the division. Probably not, but like, If I'm teer, it's happening. How are you not going? Rashaun, Peyton. If you're teer, it's you are, but you honestly think that the Saints are gonna let him go No freaking way. And also other question is, would would he even want that job? Would he be attracted to that job? No. He wants to go to Dallas. You know, that and Mike McCarthy's making it really difficult for for him. We'll get, we'll get more to that a little bit later. But, but, so yeah, I mean it's, it's it's an early season type of deal. But he wasn't getting it done. He really wasn't getting it the end of the day, like the fan base turned on him. They got poor quarterback play. He, he was 11 and 27 short. 11 and 27. That's just, you know, like, that doesn't get the job done, especially when you're talking about a guy your owner is as a hedge fund guy. You know, he want, he wants results. He's a New York hedge fund guy, right? I mean, this, this, this was not. Now look, he's, he's in a good place and, and by the way, That must have been one hell of a sales pitch he made to get that deal, the seven$71 deal, right? I mean, he must have done all the job there. But it doesn't surprise me like the, the Cardinals have, I mean, excuse me, The Panthers hit, hit rock bottom. Like, I know you don't like it, but No, I don't like it. But because I like, what do you expect to do? Like, like what do you expect to do? Because here's the thing, why not give the guy a chance? Dig, dig his way out. The only reason why I, I would say, okay, you can go and fire somebody early before the season ends, is if you really have a guy in mind and you want to get him in the building. So to kind of get'em ready. And you know how, you know how the Cowboys had Mike McCarthy already in mind. That's not happening here, obviously, you know, So so, but, but this, this early on, I, I don't get it. But here, here's what I want to know. I want to know why it is that they keep putting Baker Mayfield in shotgun. And running that, that that read option with him. How many, even when he was in Cleveland, didn't I keep telling you, Baker Mayfield needs to be under center and he, Baker Mayfield is at his best when he runs. I know I something though like, like if, if you're gonna, if you're gonna excuse Baker Mayfield to play him a shotgun, like the, I'm sorry. At some point the guy's not good at football. Like Sure. I dunno. Is he dis is you think he's this bad? Are you kidding? I think he's a lower mediocre quarterback. I think he's outside, He's outside the top 22 in quarterbacks, in my opinion, whatever I I say he's anywhere from 15 to 25. Okay. But 17 to 12, what? Whatever. We have him in the same range. We have him in the same range. But my point is this. Yeah. The guy has had success. The, it's, it's like, look, it, it's, it's like taking a guy like Lamar Jackson and saying, You're not allowed to run outside of. Or putting pink Manning and, and, and, and putting, forcing him to fucking move the pocket with his legs. You can't do that. The guy is true. The guy is short. He needs to bring those linebackers and safeties up with the threat of the run. So he can, So he's able to see the throwing lanes. I mean, he got so many balls batted, I mean, yeah. I just, I don't want any part of that. Like did you, did you see that game last week against the, the Panthers and the cardinals? I mean, it was like the, it was the balls getting bated down ball between, between Baker Mac. Why? I don't want either of those guys. But why is that? Why are the balls getting batted down? You don't wonder the ball. Well, cause they're short. Because he's short and he's throwing out of shotgun, and that's part of why he shouldn't be a starting quarterback in the nfl in my opinion. Right. That's a different argument. But he's in Carolina right now. Why can't Carolina, why can't Carolina put him under center and run, run a play action game? I know, man. At this point I, I wanna get Arnold back in there at this point. I mean, what do you have to lose? Well, what do you have to lose if you, if you put in offense that that's, that's tailored to the guy that you have? Well, well, but, but to your point, you're, I mean, if you're saying Sure. It sounds like what you're saying is Matt Rule kind of dug his own grave by not. Putting Mayfield in a position to succeed as a coach, it's, it's, look, it frustrates, it frustrates me outta my mind. If you are such a good coach, you need to be able to tailor something for your player's talents or you need to do something to protect their weaknesses. Baker Mayfield is an extremely limited quarterback. He's short, he has a strong arm, okay? He has small hands. He fu. All right, so this whole idea about him running a read, read option where it fumbles happen more often is crazy. Put him under the center, have him come out and move the pocket so you can create natural throwing lanes. That's it. It's, it's not like, I'm not saying something revolutionary. This is, this is a known fact. I don't get it. I, I don't get it. These coaches, if you are a good coach, make a system, tailor made your players. Well, either way. I think still sharp Matt rule was still doomed by quarterback play. Yes. It might have been part of his inability to maximize the the talents of, or I shouldn't say talents, the No, no. How, how about this, how about the skill of his quarterbacks, how protecting his weaknesses. How about that? Sure, sure, sure. That's a well, well said. In any case, he's out. He's out of there. But look, he's, he's, he's living fat, let's be honest, right? He, he, he, he's got 40 million plus coming his way over the next four and a half years should he decide to, to do that. So you know, I'm sure at the end of the day he's gonna, he's gonna sleep well at night, but yeah, big move for the Panthers and they are the first team to a part ride to their coach. I didn't think we'd see something this early, but here we are. So so Teer drops the hammer. The Panthers are all of a sudden back in into rebuilding mode. But I think, I think that he'd lost a fan base. It seemed. Maybe you were close to losing the locker room. Potentially, you know, there might be some things happening behind the walls of that team that were not privy to that also led to this. But, But yeah, man. And you just see it. Sure. I mean, these guys think they've gotta figure it out in college. It doesn't work out in the Nick Saban Steve Spurrier. Bobby Petrino. You see all these guys come up. It doesn't work out most of the time. Even with Pete Carroll his first go around, it didn't work out right. It's a different, it's a different game. No, it, it is. I mean look, it's, I, I, I just don't understand it. I think, I think especially, you know, the, the success that the giants are having with Brian d. Where they're saying, Look, our team's actually better than this, and they figured out a way to utilize the talent on that team, or rather protect the lack, lack of talent that we have around the team to be successful. And you can't, You can look, we have a dynamic receiver. We have actually three dynamic receivers. We have one of the best in the nfl. We have a, you know, we have a pretty darn good defense. And you know this, this is what you're giving. Yeah. And, and real quick, I mean, I, I, I, you know, I don't want it to go without, without mentioning the Niners Char. No. Jovan Kinlock, no Eric Armstead. No. Nick Bosa still generating six sacks in this game. So this defense is legit, unfortunately for them. No Char Star cornerback, Emmanuel Mosley, it was revealed, did tears ACL in this game. So the Niners losing their top corner as a result. Of of a injury sustained and is giving it a panther. So it's a tough, tough break for them, but that defense still looking absolutely elite, smothering the panthers and really, you know, the problem was in this one they just early in the game, they could not sustain time of possession. And that defense got gased early on, and then I was available to sustain drives. So it was just, yeah, a tough, tough outing. And you. Matt rule, it just didn't work out. And I think I'm the list of college coaches that don't quite have that level of success in the pros. I think it's why Lincoln Riley was like, Hey, I'm, I'm good. I'll go to USC and live that Pacific Coast lifestyle, my, my Beverly Hills mansion and still, still still have the recruiting power of the college world versus having to go make the jump of the pros. And he's doing just fine over. Yeah. No, this, it's, it's, coaches need to realize that if you're a real coach, you need to be able to adjust to your players. And, and, and if, and if you don't have that ability to do so, then you don't deserve to be head coach. And, and you would think Matt rule come from the college game, would, would, would have that mentality, but. No, because what he can, in college, what you can do is you can continuously go and recruit the types of players that you're looking for. Right? Right. Just pick your team. Right. Whereas in the pros, you're, you're beholden to a salary cap. You're holding to a draft order, and, and then the general manager is gonna take the players that, you know, that, that come to'em. So, Yeah. Yeah. And then you've got a roster. You're inheriting. So there, there's, there's a lot there that's just, just, it's different than the college game. So in any case, Sharp, Let's move ahead. We go to Lahar Your Backyard. Where? Look, man maybe the D and Big D stands for defense. Another dominant, dominant performance by the Cowboys holding the Rams to just 10 points. They win 1 20, 2 to 10, just absolutely smothering Matthew Stafford And that Rams offense. Disappointing back to back weeks of the Ram scoring nine. At San Francisco last week and now 10 points at home against Dallas. They're missing Whitworth on that line. The line looks, looks, just, looks like it's, it's bruised and battered. And Dallas took full advantage. Cooper Rushk, kinda like the guy in the group project who doesn't do much of the work with like fda. I think if you're probably 91 year in this game. And the Cowboys doing just enough on. Get terrible analogy. Terrible analogy. Come on. Come on. Cooper rushes Cooper. Russia is the guy that didn't do much in the group project, but he did the presentation. You're right, right. He put, he put it all together. Right. who was on the podium, So Lees right, Right. Well look The Cowboys aided by some big plays. The 57 yard touchdown pass. We touched on running, excuse me, by by Tony Pollard. Cowboys is a group averaging almost five yards of carry on the ground to the Rams 2.5 Stafford sacked five times in this game. Shark, the Rams on an opening possession strip. Sack Do's Armstrong, I'm telling you, this is the guy that I was saying in the off season. He's the guy that has to step up to APL Gregory, he has, he strip sax Matthew staff. DeMar Lawrence picks it up, runs in in for a touchdown, and then on the Ram's next possession, they're punting do's. Armstrong blocks the punt, which leads to another three points for the cowboy. So Do's Armstrong Accounting for nine points for the Cowboys in this one. And then it really was just kinda like the Tony poll's long touchdown, a few villa goals, and the defense just clamping down. I mean, Micah Parsons started playing on a bad. Two second half sacks for him, including the closer strip s that ended the game on Matthew Stafford. I mean, this was, And then let's not forget the interception as well. So three turnovers forced by the Cowboys offense. No turnovers, again, another clean game by them. This is a formula they got going now, isn't it? Yeah, it's a, you, You know what's funny about this? First of all, I was gonna tell you that we're not allowed to talk about this because you swore off to cowboys in, in your diatribe about a month ago. Okay? Number one. Number two, you should not have a smile on your face cause the cowboys won't because you, you can't be, you can't be writing the fence. You gotta be either in or out. Okay? Number one. Now, having said that, you know why I really like this victory for the Cowboys is because it goes against every grain of the analytics. Crowd out there. They played defense and special teams and their offense just didn't lose the game for them. Yeah, Yeah. They kicked their field goals when they had it. They, they, they played the game of field position. They, they won the turnover game. And that's the game of football. Some fucking idiots think that it, it's like it's, I, I think what it is, is, is this the generation that has grown up on, on Madden, where I remember playing Madden, you know, on, on fourth and short. I would go throw a Hail Mary because Yeah, just discuss Cause you can, Right, Exactly. So it's, it's just, to me, this is, this was a complete game for the Cowboys, mainly because it was one on two sides out of three. That's really seldom really not getting much attention. Their defense and, and their, and their special teams. And listen, kudos to Cooper Rush. That is, that is like, I think Cooper Rush is a phenomenal asset for the Cowboys because he knows the thought process of Tell Moore Look, they were teammates. They were both backups together. They were, you're right. Yeah. Yeah. So they have a very good relat. It's almost as if Cooper Rush is, is, is, is a better version of what Kean Moore was when Kean Moore was playing. Cuz he has a little bit of a better arm, He's a little bit more athletic, but they know each other. And, and here's the thing, Cooper Rush isn't good enough to be rooted away as a starter anywhere. Cooper Rush is somebody that can be with with the Cowboys as, as a backup for a long, long time or wherever Kellen Morgo ends up going. He's, he's at the very least earned raise as a backup, Is he not? No. Keller Moore needs to make three, 4 million a year. He, he needs to make three 4 million year. I'm talking about Cooper. Cooper Rush. I'm sorry. Cooper Rush. Yeah, he, he does. Cause look, I honestly, in, in fantasy in couple of my leagues, I had CD lab. I, I, I traded him away as soon as Zeke got hurt. But, you know, it's, it's because I thought it was just doom and glue for the Cowboys. I thought it was doom and gloo for the Cowboys. And here they are. Here they are. You know, with, with a wedding record. My defense is shocking. The defense is shocking. He's making things difficult for you and Jerry Jones which is, which is great. Well, sure. We, we texted him about this last night. I mean, it's Dan Quinn's defense. I understand that technically. Look, look, listen to me when Mike McCarthy, three years ago, had that league worst defense record, Breakly. Defense. Which, which, which spun he brought his guy in, or who was, Who was the guy you brought in? It was, it was the former nine guy. Mike Nolan. Mike Nolan, Okay. His guy who completely, You know what? The bed, Right. And then Jerry said, Listen, thank, Thank you buddy. I'll take it from here. Our front office brought cowboys, front office, brought Inwe. Okay. I'm sorry. He's not thinking forever. The defense. He's not, He's. Doesn't matter. I understand it's his team, but this is Dan Quinn. I Do you think, do you think you're talking as a fan, he sits into it in any of the defensive meetings, does he have anything to do with, I, I guarantee he's there on defensive meetings just to get an idea of what's going on as, Yeah. As a warm, As a warm body. You know, like, doesn't, doesn't doesn't matter. He, he's still, he's still making decisions. Look, I need you to step outta your cowboy boots. Literal, literal, and figure at once. actually, you have a pair Yeah. Step, step outta him for a moment and look at it this way. It's, they, they basically what had one loss, right? Yeah. The last week, one of the bucks, and now they've won four in a row with a backup quarterback. Okay. Undrafted, undrafted backup quarter. All right. Injuries all across the offense in defense. Yeah. No, you're right. So look, now Don's here, here, but here I, to your point, jar, here's the part that is promising to me in this game is there's some in like, there was no like bonehead calls made with the end of the, like for example, at the end of the game there, they, I think they had a fourth and short. Like from like a 12 yard line, right? And if they get a first down and score, it probably ends the game. They're up nine. Instead, kick a field goal, go up 12. The Rams have to score two touchdowns flew, win the game. Unlike Nathaniel Hackett, they actually read the game, flew and said, Okay, based on how it's gone. The likelihood of them scoring two touchdowns in the next five minutes, very low. Let's take the three. Let's take the three, and instead of making it a 10 point game, make it a 12 point game. It's a two touchdown game now that to me was smart. And then early in the game, the rookie Tyler Smith Rams astutely putting Aaron Donald over the rookie. This is the first time I've seen the rookie struggle, rightfully so against the great Aaron Donald. The Cowboys adjusted. And after that, that second quarter, you didn't hear, and Donald's man called again in terms of quarterback pressure. So that's, they're adjusting, they're seeing things and they're improving in game. That to me is promising. That to me is not something you've seen typically under McCarthy. So I will give credit to that. Now, how much of that was McCarthy? How much of that was the coordinators? I don't know, but that kind of thing where I, Okay. It's under his leadership. I get. The defense is all Banque. Right. And, and Jerry Jones, the presence of mine Absolutely. To give him a substantial raise to keep him in town, Right? So, Absolutely. The way they're planning right now, this style of football, you feel like you, you can probably be in any game, right? You just, you just beat the world champs. I mean, I, I know they're not playing a top form still. Yeah. Right. I mean, I actually beat, they beat the past, the, the, the two Super Bowl teams last year. Right, right. And with a backup fricking quarterback. Yeah. With your offensive line losing its second best player. Yep. Okay. With your, with your second best receiver being out with your tight end, who's your second leading target getter being injured? Yeah, great. Look, not, and obviously no Omar either from last year. It's not Mike McCarthy's faults that Jerry Jones gave away those players. It, it really isn't. That's fair. But it, it, it really isn't, it seems like it's kind of worked out, right? Like Lyle Collins, I dunno if you saw last night in the game. He got chewed out. He missed. He missed, actually missed a block on a fourth down shovel pass. He has not played up to the billing at all in Cincinnati, right? Yeah, but I also, I also want to tell people, just relax. There's a bunch of stuff that could be happening there. Yeah, that's fair. What I'm saying, what I'm saying is like, it seems like the guys they let go, it hasn. You've never looked and said, Okay, well wow, I really miss that guy yet. Who knows? It's, it's, it's, yeah. It's, it's not like the Ram's missing Vaughn Miller in, in, in Buffalo. No, I don't wanna jump ahead too far. Right. But look well, here's the last thing I'll say about this game. The only thing I noticed are Ram scored 10 points, okay? Their 10 points, their first fill goal was off a two, two at, well, 54 ride reception. Trayvon Digs was actually associated with both scoring plays, but both were like amazingly executed. So like Matt Stafford through a gorgeous deep ball. I mean it, it was like a one and a thousand type ball where he placed it, that little letter point, and then the Cooper Cup had a 75 yard touchdown. Again, covered wasn't bad. He just reached out one hand on the run. I mean, My point is the rams, the, the, the ball placement had to be like needle in a haystack, right? For then we get those scoring chances. I understand what you're slow, why I actually felt good about this game because I like the chances of them having it. Being able to do that consistently. Were just low, right? And so, Even the points they got, it was like, it was just tough sledding for them. Right. In case the listeners aren't understanding what Coru is talking about it's a situation where the 10 points aren't real. 10 points, Right. Points are, are, are, are, are. Okay. Perfect example. We're playing the great very standards in Detroit Lines in 1997 and we kept him to 106 yard. And we were celebrating it. Yeah. cause reason being hundred 60 yards on one touch on, on the surface, 160 yards on one touchdown seems great. But he had a 68 yard touchdown run. Right. So, so our defense was saying, Look, we just, we just on one play, we gave it up. Whereas the rest of the game, we contained them. The cowboys contained the Rams every single play yesterday, with the exception of of, of two. Yeah. And, and I mean, so that's, that's, that's what you're saying, right? Exactly. Exactly. My point is that, that that could have also been a shutout or, you know, a three point game, you know, like it was, it was, And Mike Parsons, man, I mean, he, he's about this guy. He's saying, I mean, he's just, What a beast. What a beast. Here's what I, here's what I want to know here. Here's what I want to know. Why aren't teams running at. I don't, Yeah, that's a great question. Maybe they are. Look, actually, the Rams, No they're not. I was, I was watching it. They're not, they're not, they're not running Adam. They're, Look, here's a guy. This is a situation crew rush where you run Adam. And early on, early on he might, he might jump around, make it play and stuff, but by the third, fourth quarter, he's gonna, he's gonna get, he's, he's gonna get soft. The thing is, he a lighter guy. But the thing is, Char, they're not putting him in at D end. Every play either. Doesn't matter. It's all. You, you put him around and you run trap plays to him. If he's at the edge, you run a counter play where a pulling guard comes and smashes into, Is this the what's the term you said? Tenderize him? Tenderize him. That's what was, Yeah, because look, here's, here's the thing. Ku doesn't matter where he is. You run a check with me, you're either gonna, he's either gonna be, he's either gonna be on the edge towards the tight end, or he's gonna be, or he's gonna be on the edge away from the tight end. Right. He's also, I think he's, he's technic a middle linebacker, like on paper, right? And then, and then when he's in, if he ever goes on over guard or something like that, you fucking run a trap at him. Look, situation like this was, again, 1998. I'm using personal example. We were playing Warren, you know, the grade war set. And we did not, The mistake people made is that they ran away from him. Cause Warren was pretty small. Warren's, you know, 280 pounds, 285 pound guy. Right? Right. We ran right Adam, and we double teamed him constantly and, and I'm telling you, in the first crush, in the first. Two quarters we're only making like three, four yards, like two and a half, three yards a game. But by the fourth quarter, I remember we had a 14 yard drive to end the game and we ran right at warrant and he just, he couldn't handle it anymore. It's like, it's like doing a bunch of body blows. So boxer, if, if, if, you know, eventually, eventually. Now look though. Now, now it's interesting you say that. Who do the Cowboys play next? They're ad Philadelphia now. That's, now we're talking about some, some big boy football. Now Philadelphia has a very. Advanced running game. It would not surprise me if perhaps they, they'd tee your advice there. Right. And, and that would be, you think that would be the team with the different ways they attack you in the running game? Right. That can very be the team that, that actually does that. Micah Jo might, Myla needs to be playing if Jordan Mylas playing, you know, they're phenomenal offensive tactic. And, and, and the cowboys might get ded back. I don't wanna jump ahead too far, Char any initial impressions for this huge nfcs tilt in Philly? Yeah, I, I, I, I think, I think the, the bane of of, of, look, when you have a fast athletic defense, what the cowboys have, the, the, the counter to that is, is just smashing'em in the. And the Rams actually running the ball. Well, early I think camp makers had like 25 yards on his first three or four carries. He ended with just 33 Right? So no, it's, they, they kind of went away from it. I, I think what they, they try to gain it. The mistake, which North Turner used to make is, is, you know, you fall behind 10 points. You try to gain it all back in one. That's a mistake. Whereas if you, if you just tend to rise them, not, not again for the Rams. I remember last year when they were having a hard time and I said, I still think they're gonna win the division. Everybody freaking relax. All right. I'm still gonna say the same thing, however, I'm not saying it with the same confidence as I was last year. That's fair. That's fair. I mean, look, the truth fair, the West is wide open, right? The west is wide, wide, wide open over there. And how about, how about the NFC shark? No longer the nfc. Cowboys. Four. One Giants, four, one Eagles, five and oh. Unfortunately your commanders are the only ones that are the odd man out here at one in four. But NFC East Man, at least, at least through five weeks, they look decent. And maybe that's a good segue. Char, the Giants across the pond pulling off the ultimate upset, defeating the packers. 27 to 22 sharp, the Giants and the second. Pitching a shutout and scoring 17 unanswered points. Well, I should say technically it wasn't a shutout cause they took an intentional safety at the end, but their defense essentially pitched a shutout in the second half and they batted down and Aaron Rogers passed at the end on fourth down to seal the win. Just was in a row, a game. And then sa ones one ran well, he came off the, he was injured, came off the bench, had a huge catch and run that set up their final game winning score. Daniel Jones, Efficient 21 27 2 17, no touchdowns, but didn't make any major mistakes either. This was a hell of a win from New York, was it not ab Absolutely. You know, we, we mentioned it when we were talking about Carolina. You know, Brian D seemed to have understood how to play to the. Of his offense. Oh yeah. And, and, and, and more so to, to cover up the weaknesses, you know, of, of, of his quarterback and, and, and other players. I mean, that's, that's a coach that designs his offense around his players and, and, and adjusts and, and I'm really, Look, I'm, I was shocked. I, I honestly thought that the I kind of looked at the Giants as being a kind of a fraudulent, good team. I mean, yeah, I was too going into this week, but af after this win, we need to rethink that. I mean, now, now looking at the Cowboys, now you're saying, okay, well they're only losses of the Cowboys. Is, is, is, is that that bad of a thing for the Giants? No. No. With that, with that defense. Ab. Ab, absolutely not. And, and look, they're one game away, so. Yeah. And this is the coach's first year. This is, He is playing with house money right now, so, So kidding. Phenomenal feeling, you know, for them, but, but Green Bay, what, like, what is going on? You had like, I, I don't know what's going on with them. Two plays in a row, the, it gets batted. You have third and one, you have third and one, right. There is basically one yard to go. You have Aaron Jones and you have AJ Dylan. And, and honestly, I thought, I thought this team was gonna be a team that's gonna have like 30 carries and just hammer those guys. And, and even Aaron Jones said that he, he, he said something along the lines like, I would've thought that with me and aj, we would've, we would've ran the ball at least one time to get one yard on two. Yeah. And they were kind of like, kind like Deborah. They were just going for the kill shot, you know? I mean, I, I, I, I understand you have the greatest quarterback of all time TalentWise underneath the center. But look, and yeah, we're to your point, Sure. We're talking about, we're talking about fourth and one with a minute, five left at the six yard line. You get that? You can easily get that first down. Well, plenty of time. Plenty of. To take multiple shots at the end zone, and especially when the blitz is coming, like that course when the blitz comes like that, the best, Like I, I know when the blitz comes like that. I've seen quarterbacks. I, I remember in the CFO our, our quarterback did this. He went in and he audible to a quarterback snake. When an outside blitz was coming like that, and, and he just said, You know what, we'll just let those outside blitzers go. We're just, we're just gonna, we're gonna smash forward. Yeah. You know, and and I can't believe, like, I, I, I don't know. I, these are the times that I shake my head at my favorite quarterback, which is Aaron Rogers, this game. Look, I, I, I, I put that on him. I, I, I put that on him. He has the power to change the play of the line of Scrimm. Okay. And I, I, I, I put, I put that on him. I, at some point, you gotta put it, you know, because look, if Aaron Rogers wants to change your play, Aaron Rogers gonna change your play. He's on the right. Yeah. So I, I don't know. This game, this game and, and, and last year's loss to the 49ers in the playoffs, These are the games that make me shake my head. And, and here's the thing, your point, Char. The, the packers collectively average between Dylan and Jones average are over five yards of carrying this game. Yeah. So the run game was working. I don't, I don't get it. I, I don't, I don't understand. Look, aj Dylan should be getting 18. Carries a game and about maybe three receptions. Aaron Jones should be getting 10 12 carries and about receptions. Those two running backs need to be playing at the same time, which they are, but they, like, I, I, I just, I, I just don't, I don't understand. You don't have a bonafide number one receiver yet. And by the way, can I take my Victory Lab on Romeo dos now? I mean, he, he had three Es for 29 yards. I mean, Kuro, when he got drafted, Did I not say that, that he's, that, that he's basically gonna be the rookie receiver used and I said he's gonna have at least 50 receptions and Sure, sure, sure. Okay. Don't remember that. Like the day he got drafted, he looks apart. He looks part anyways, but, but he's, again, it hurts me to say, but he's, no, he's no number one. It's not like he's, you know, at least not yet. So when you look, when you have a really great offensive line and you have two phenomenal running backs that compliment each other, and you have a quarterback that can, that can call the play at the line of scrimmage, and then if you want, so you can run a little play action. I, I don't understand what's going on. I, I don't get it. I'm baffled. No question about it. Giants. Rebuilt themselves in the coaching staff. Speaking of rebuilding Sha, I apologize there's a noise in the background. We are building a we're we're taking a portion of the playroom, upstair. And building a baby room for the baby. So you go a little bit of construction on the house. I do apologize to you buddy and the audience. No, no, no. You can't hear. But, but I'm gonna be upset if, if, if the guest room is gonna be taken out in your car. No, no, no, no. This is a new, this is a new BBI right now. That's right. I, I forgot that the, the, the, the SAVI castle has many, many, many, many guest suites in the 12,000. Well, well, you know, sh says this, he, he still doesn't come visit me to actually verify one way or the other. So we're still, we're still waiting for you here. Right. I gotta wait for the weather to cool down. I got you. I got you buddy. In any case, let's talk about another, the other LA team for a second here. So, oh, Chargers getting the 30 to 20 often. I'd actually be curious what your buddies, what your buddies think about this one. The big story here. Yes. It was a, it was actually a really, really fun game to watch, great displays of offense on both sides. You know Jacobi Burett playing decent. Nick Chubb had a huge game Herbert ler. I mean, eor, what a game for ler. My God, a buck 73 on 16 carries for him. I mean, what, what a game for him, Mike Williams showing out. This is a great game off. You like offensive football. Not a great game. If you like smart coaching decisions at the end of the game, right? Here's the scenario, so at the end of this game, sure. The Chargers are winning. Okay? They're up 30 to 28, right? And now they've got a fourth and two on their side of the field, okay? It's on their side of the field with 1 34, excuse me, 1 1 14 left in the game. It's on their 46, right? Basically, meaning that if you don't get this first down, the Browns basically need what? 15 yards? 10. 15 yard. To get into field goal range. What happens? They don't convert the, It's a fourth and one, right? It's another fourth and one. Well, if you're gonna go for it, why not run the ball on that fourth and one, right? But in any case, incomplete pass rounds, take over on downs, they get 11 yards. Okay? And K York hooks the field goal. I guess temporarily softening the blow for Ben and Staley for that awful, awful decision. If K York makes this kick, I mean it's, it's gonna be a lot worse than it is. It's coach malpractice. This is, this is still bad. This is still given like, like for one thing I'll say real quick about the Browns. Ironic. The Browns are the only. To use a draft kick on a kicker getting K York. Okay. And that week one game have, he had the 58 yard walk off kick against the Panthers that won the game. And all of their subsequent losses and their other three losses, it's all kept down to the kicking game. Like K York has missed a kick and all three losses that were the reason why, I shouldn't say the reason cuz it's a team game, but you know what I mean. It came down to a kick that you missed the, their investment didn't pay off. That's what you, It's almost like it's, I what, what I, what? I texted my buddies. I. Chargers are charger and the browns are browning. Right. Who's someone's gotta give here, right. It just like, like it was like this, this back and forth at the end of the other team begging the other team to win the game and he mixes the kick. We talk about analytics and I get of course people on Twitter analytics, so go for it. Okay, sure. Can I ask you a question? Is there, is there analytics on. What the outcome is when brands, Stanley uses analytics, why can't there be analytics on what happens when Sta exactly uses analytics? Why don't we, why aren't we talking about that? Right? like, like that. To me, if I know that I have a 98% failure rate, when I use analytics, why am I still using analytics? Right? like this to me is just, we talk about the term, the Lombardi coin coaching malpractice. This is coaching mal. Your team has busted their ass to get to this point, you know? Hunt the football, make him go for length of, is a minute left in the game. I understand there's risk there. Or if it's fourth and one, why are you putting the ball in the air? Austin Eckler has averaged 11 yards of carry in this game. You don't trust somebody to get one yard on the ground. Like, why, why are you even, you're gonna, if you're gonna go for it. No, Forget going for it. Cor. I agree. No, I agree, but I'm saying even if you are, why that call? No, no, no. Because you know what you're giving, you're giving the fact of going for it and not pun previously. Fine, fine, fine. I, I, I, I, I could see that point. Let's just go back to it. Why in the hell are you going for it on your own? 46 yard line. Fourth and one. And that's because you've never played football yourself. But the, I think he did that football, I think, I think he was like a D two quarter He quarterback somewhere. He's the, Yeah, he was he was a quarterback at like some division two or, Yeah, he was a DCD three staff school. Yeah. Yeah, he was. So, I mean, he has, I mean, he's played, he's coached. I mean, how do you, how do you explain this? How do you explain Here's and Keen and Allen tweets, What the heck are we doing? Wtf? Yeah. Oh yeah. Wtf are we doing? Yeah, sorry, I, I was trying to give the, the Disney version, but Yeah, exactly. Look guys in this complex, there's, there's two of them that I spoke to. All right. Good. Okay. They're not happy. Yeah. They're, they kind of rolled their eyes that they, like, we're so, they're not like, you know how we say winning is the best deodorant? Right. You're, you're saying you don't think that necessarily applies to, I'm just saying we're not sure he would've been on the plane if we would've lost. Now, I don't know if that's, I don't know if that's, if there's like, they could just be saying that they could just be, Do you understand what I mean? They could, They could just be hyperbolic, hyper. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm just telling you what I was, what I was told. Right. Right here. Here's the thing. Analytics doesn't take you into effect that on the drive before the quarterback of the opposing team choked and threw an interception in the end. Yeah, analytics doesn't take into effect that pressures on him and people that have never been, Look, I can't tell you what the pressure felt like when it was Monday night and it was third and 17 and we were on our own 15 yard line and everybody knew we were throwing the ball. I'm at left tackle on one on one Kuru, because you know what? That third and 15 pass block for me was by far different, by far different than on another pass block that's, let's say third and two. Third and three third, and five. Yeah, these are the things that are like kind of hidden in Nalytics, right? Felt like my shoulders felt like they were gonna get crushed. The pressure I, the pressure of the world was on my shoulders. People don't get this Jacobi through an intercept and in the goal line, in the end zone because the pressure got to him. That interception was not a, oops. That was a terrible. That was a terrible freaking pick. Okay? You're not gonna punt the ball and say, Hey Jacoby, you just threw an interception. We just took the ball away from you. Once you go down the field and sharp, you're, you're at the 46 yard line, you're virtually at midfield. Very high chance you can pin them deep, very high chance, right? So, It's just, it's, it's ling I was listening. I don't wanna say what show I was listening to today and they said, we agreed with the call. It was the right call to make you go for the one shot win. What about your defense? I, I honestly think that these people wanna just have, you know what, Forget defenses. Defenses are arbitrary. We're just gonna just, They think they're playing fantasy football. They fucking think they're playing fantasy football. All right. I kuru, you know, you know, I'm a man with faith. I believe in, in, in, in God Almighty. I was hoping, saying, God, give me the power so I can reach through this goddamn speaker and grab this fucking idiot by their throat and pull him through the wires and just chew his fucking face off the guy goes, he made the right call. And then you know what he said? He said, Here's the thing. Even if you punt it and it gets down to their 15 yard line, they have a kicker that can kick it from 60 and. He just, you saw he missed, I mean, again, pressure. Here's the thing. Kuro, if that checker check from six year plus, they don't need to move that much more, Right? Right. I mean, like, so, so either, Either you're worried about their chicken game or you're not. If you go for it, that means you're not worried about, you're not worried about their offense being able to move even 10 yards. Okay. 10 yard. You punt it and you let the other half of your team play a fucking game. The drive before your team, your defense came up strong and got a fucking interception. Yeah. You. You have one of the most dynamic defenses in the nfl. You have like, you got Cleal Clem, you have I don't even when James Nick Boa. I mean Joey Boa rather. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, are you fucking, are you kidding me? Especially when it's Jacob Burett. Now, now Kuro, if it was Patrick Mahomes and the, and the chief's offense, I understand that. Do, do, do, do, do, do you know what I mean? I understand it more for sure, for sure. I, I understand it because you're saying, you know what, That's Patrick Holmes. It's fucking Jacoby beset. He just threw a pick in the end zone. And I'm more a look, I'm telling you, talk about mal coaching malpractice. This like, what the fuck are you thinking? What are you thinking? Playoff of the. He needs to be fired tru. He needs to be fucking fired. Well, and and how often do you talk about a coach need to be fired after. After a win, Right. How often do I even say coach needs to be fired ever? Yeah. He needs to be fucking gone. He needs to be gone. I'm telling you, he's gonna lose, He's gonna lose the team. He's gonna lose a, Is it, can we say, and I know Char, you didn't play in an age where, where Twitter was a thing, but based off Keenan Allen's tweet, is it crazy to say he's lost some of the. Well, he has, Dude, Dude, I, I'm, are you, are you fucking kidding me? The amount of pressure that you put your defense and you got fucking lucky they missed, of course, they missed the playoffs because of his decision making last year. I know. I got, And that's, and that's why my first question is, why doesn't he look at the analytics? On What's interesting when he uses analytics, right, Like if I know like at some point, okay, if we're all about data and making decisions off of data, at this point, you've done it enough times where the data tells you look at your own analytics. It doesn't end well. Look, that's what the data tells me. Here's and, and, and, and, and look, what analytics doesn't tell you is they don't tell you who's on the other side. Okay? I remember when Bill Ick went forward on his own 20 on he get paid, man. Yeah. Cause, Cause the calls were scoring at will. No problem. No freaking problem. Right. When, when when when we were talking about Denver. When they, when, when they decided not to play it. Smart. It, it was a defensive ballgame. You gotta play it where you have to know your own fucking situation. Kuro, when you play black check, you either, you either hit on a 16, Or you, or you, or you stay based on what the dealer has. You don't always say, Oh, I always hit a 16. It has to be, Look, let me tell you something. Co if the situation was reversed and it was the Cleveland Browns on a fourth and one on, on, on, on on the Chargers 46, and they have Nick Chub and they have that offensive line, I would say you go for it because you have Justin Herbert on the other side. I would say, you go for it. I would say you go for it and you try to win the game. It, it, it, it didn't make sense. And add this to the. Of fourth down gaffs from Brandon Staley and Sure. They've got, So look, I mean, they've got the Broncos and the Seahawks at home over the next two games. Then they're on the road against Atlanta in San Francisco and then the chiefs at home. I, you know, I'd venture to say if they lose like two or three of these next four. I don't know, man. Whatever. Cooper, actually, I guess it depends how they lose as well. But Sta does not look like that guy. And I'm wondering if how good he's feeling about this one, right? I mean, is is he feeling great about it? Knowing what, what, what, what tra what had to transpire the amount of luck he had to have this. He said, I absolutely made the right decision. You didn't, you didn't hear. You didn't hear him afterwards. Wow. He said, That's what the numbers tell me to do. Wow. Then why don't you Sure. Monte just hire a robot to, to, to, That's what I was gonna say, Wear advisor and put the headphones on. Why do you even, why do you even need coaches? You don't. You don't. Yeah. What does, what does the sheet say? I, I, I swear to God. I wanna like, it's, it's, it's, it's the invasion of the, of the fricking the pocket protector, wearing nerds of the game of football. They're not robots. Revenge the nerds. Revenge. You know, what documentaries should be made about? Revenge. The nerds of how freaking nerds are trying to take over. KU couldn't. Yeah. The guys, all the guys that wanted to play and be the jocks, you couldn't now are want to take over. Right. And, and you know what's worse is, is, is go is is listening to radio shows and having these say, Oh, absolutely. Now I, it was absolutely the right decision because, you know, you are 46% liable to miss it at 52%. So if you carry the two and you, and you square root the pie and you decide to do that and she'll work out, fucking idiot. Fucking morons. Yeah, no, I know, I know. And I, Here's the thing, I may, I, I picked the Chargers to win the division. Do you remember that? You did. I do. And, and, and if you remember, go back and listen to that. Go back to listen to that show. I said if Brandon Staley does not f it up with his decision making process, that seems like a big F at this point. Okay. And then do you remember when we were picking our Super Bowl picks and you said you picked, you picked the charges to win the division, yet you have Kansas City in, in the, in the super. Right. No, I, I, Right, right. Okay. And my reasoning was, is I do not trust Brandon Staley to make the right decisions to be able to make it to the Super Bowl. I mean, he may not. Out of the division at this point, the way he's going. Well, fortunately for him, the, the, the, the Broncos are an absolute disaster. So, and, and, and look, they're so talented. They're so freaking talented. Yeah. That's, that's gonna be, that's gonna be fun, right? Dumpster fire versus dumpster fire. Who's what, what, what's gonna give next week? Right. That'll be interesting. It's, it's, it's, it's unreal. It's unreal. Last year they should have beaten the chiefs and won the division. They gave, they gave it away and, and then they, they should, they should have tied the Raiders to make it to the playoffs and they gave it away. They, they did. Okay. Sir, I'm, I'm gonna ask you one question's kind of a litmus test for you right here. Okay. On the spot just came to my mind. Okay? Right now, true or false are the Chargers of better team with Adam Gates is the head. Wow. For those who can't see Chars rubbing his head, he's thinking it, he's thinking it over well, okay. Adam Gay seemed like such a freaking chancellor poison. Yeah, you can say that, right? He, he, he was just, he was, he, he was tough to get along with as a person, as a human. Right, Right. I mean, kind of, kind of like the, the coach for the for the dolphins that got fired. Right, right, right. You know it, it's, it's, it's, it's hard. It, it's, no, I mean, I, I gotta, I gotta go. I look begrudgingly You think about Brandon Staley. Yeah. I gotta, because Adam Gates was an absolute bump. But, but, but, but the fact that it. You know that, that you actually had to kind of mull it over. Yeah. His telling, Right. Oh my God. Oh my God. Cause I'm thinking, well, at least is you're getting probably some good offensive play calling at the, the very least, Right. Course I would take Mad rule over I think, I think the charges would be better if they, if they fired stealing, Brought in Mad rule. I mean, gosh, I think the charges would be better with Mad Rule as their head coach than, than, than this. It's hard to disagree there. It's hard because Matt rule's problem was he never got the creek, I never got the quarterback. Right. Right. And but, but, but you know, you, the, the amount of, you have two 20 million receivers. You have one of the most dynamic running backs. Yeah. Oh yeah. In football. The nfl you have a ferocious defense. Yeah. The ferocious defense. Right. Their issue was their offensive line and you went and they went and fixed. Okay. They went ahead and, and, and fixed that. I, I honestly think co I would love to have Mike McCarthy coaching, coaching the chargers. I would freaking love to have chargers. I never thought I'd here the day I listen, I think, be honest with you, wouldn't. Are you on McCarthy's payroll? Are you on mcg? Because cuz are, are you guys buddies or something? Cause you defend him a awful lot on, on the show. No, no. Look, look, Ku I was the one that jumped on him early on when he was on like, what the hell are you thinking? Remember early on in his Cowboys career. Okay. Yeah, no, I know, I know. But, but then, but then also when I saw him in hard knocks, I kind of had a changing of the hearts. I'm like, I like, I like how this guy operates. Of course. In case. Yeah. I think we both agree there's a lot of guys. Let's wrap it up with a couple of awkward endings in Arizona and Tampa Sharp. Let's start off in the desert where the Eagles escape with a 20 to 17 victory over the Cardinals to remain undefeated. This game ending kind of a weird way. So the cardinals down 20 to 17, they're driving for what they hope will be, kind of the, the, the game. Tying field goal, and there's about a minute and a half left in this ballgame. And on second and 10 with, I'm sorry. No there's 36 seconds left in the ballgame. Second and 10. Kyle Murray scrambles for nine yards, and he slides just like a half a yard shy of the first down marker, and then he spikes it on third and one to stop the. Now you've got fourth in one with 22 seconds left. Had the cardinals gotten the first down there, you can spike it and then with 22 seconds running another play, potentially getting more yards. But what happens because he spiked it there on the third in one, cuz he didn't get the first down, they're forced to kick a 43 hour field goal, which unfortunately for the Cardinals, Matt Amandola, hooks wide, right? And the Fox broadcast really as stupidly was showing that in pre-game, Mandola was hooking most of his kicks and warmups to the right. And just unfortunately for him, he wasn't able to get it corrected. It played out the exact same way at the moment that it mattered most. And really kind, just kind of silly that Murray seems like he just lost track of the down distance and put his team in a position, the kick and now look 43 yards. It should be makeable. That's not like, A low probability kick, in my opinion, if you're an DentiCal NFL kicker. But nevertheless, man, you would've like to see the Cardinals get a few more yards there, and perhaps that makes a difference if they're able to do so. What did you think of how this game ended for for the Cardinals? What transpired at the end there? I, Okay, Well, couple of things. This is a situation where Kyle or Murray not being a student of the game of football came, came in and hurting. You know this is, this is one of those situations where, you know the actual awareness of the game. And what you're supposed to do in different situations, which quarterbacks should have as part of their psyche is, is absolutely missing from Kyle Murray. And, and, and it came hurting, number one, Number two, But this is, this is the, this is the Arizona team that's always been the same last year. This time they were getting extremely fortunate with, with 50 50 type things, with the jump, with things going their way. And now they're just, now it's the. It's, it's, it's, they're on the wrong side of the luck. Last year, remember, they were a couple games where they won, and I was like, Tourist, they're not that good. They, they beat Chicago because they got lucky and fortunate on some things that went their way. It's, yeah, look, you, you live by the sword. You die by the sword. If, if you're gonna do boneheaded stuff and, and, and try to try to kind of have your athletic ability and your playmaking ability and, and just kind of like, you know ad living. You know win games for you, it's gonna, it is gonna lose your games as well. So you're saying maybe the Cardinal shouldn't have taken that, that study clause out of the contract? Yeah. I, I don't know why they did. I don't, I don't know why they did. It's, it should be like it. They, they gave into the quarter public opinion is what they did. Yeah. Which, which you know how I am, you know how I am. I freaking hate that. Yeah. Yeah. And look Jaylen Hearst another, another Solve Day at the Office 2 39 through the. Another 61 and two titties in the ground. He continues to be a dual threat, but yeah, just an odd, odd any of this game. And again, like, you know, he hooked, he hooked that kick a couple yard, right? So, Yeah, maybe if they get a few more yards, If they had one more down, maybe it makes a difference. Well, he just, he just doned it. He, he, he, he, Look, you're seeing, you seeing kickers this day and age consistently make 55 yards or 52, like 46 this day and age is, is nothing. It's indoors. It seems like the, that stadium for some reason just an, an odd place for, for kicks at times. I don't know what it is about that stadium, but there's just weird things that happen. Kickers in that place, but well, maybe, maybe, you know, I mean, who knows? Maybe lighting, maybe there, there could be a whole variety of things, which I can't, I can't speak on. Yeah. Well I'm also like, if you're, if your, if all your kicks are missing to the right warmups, Why can't I just tell myself I'm gonna, I'm gonna push this one a little bit to the left, just to, I mean, that's, that's the, that's the easy question. But Fred, that's, that's the, that's the Madden player in me. Right? Right, right. And, and, and that's when checkers actually start, you know, They just, they just need to aim. There's, you just need to aim and, and, and try and try to, and try to hit it and not overthink it, you know, So it, it's, it's one of those things, It's one of those things, it's, it's too bad. Another unfortunate ending. Sure. The Atlanta Falcons got hose by the refs. They did. And you know what I'm a big as Tom Brady fan as anybody else, but the bucks are carrying a 21. Nothing lead into the fourth quarter and the Falcons come back furiously. They get a touchdown, extra point, another touchdown. Two point conversion. So now it's a 21 to 15 game. Tons of pressure on the books because now if the falcons get it back again and score touchdown, they can win the game on an extra point. So absolutely huge drive for Tampa Bay and they are aided at the very end by a terrible, terrible roughing The pastor call, and this call essentially is what gave Tampa the final first down. To ice the game. And you know, Grady, Jared won his battle inside Sack Tom Brady. He threw him down. Yeah, he threw him down heart. This is football, right? We're we're not playing fly, we're not playing too untouch here. And the ref threw the flag. And he said, Oh, it was because the way he threw him, he threw him harder than was necessary. I actually want to get the exact, It was Jerome Boger. I want to get the ex, the exact quote here. His interpretation of the rule was basically that that the way that he was thrown down, he said he was unnecessarily thrown to the ground. Like that jerking emotion. Tell me what I mean. I'm sure you saw it, shark. Yeah. Like this was garbage. If you're grading jarret, what are you supposed to do? It's app, it's absolute garbage. And look, I'm, I'm an offensive lineman, so I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm allergic to quarterbacks getting hit. So I, I come from a perspective of, you know, don't touch my quarterback. Right? But the idea that the quarterback all of a sudden isn't a football player and he's being too rough, like, are you kidding me? It was made within the whistles you're supposed to tackle and take him to the ground. Like, are, are you fucking kidding me? Yeah. Are you outta your mind? Like, like, what is going on in this world? I, I, I don't get it. What the hell is going on in our world? KU rush. Yeah. Yeah. And he's saying the defender. I, I've actually got, I've got the, I've got the quote here. He said, quote, What I had there was the defender grabbed the quarterback while he was still in the pocket and unnecessarily throwing him to the ground. That is what I was making my decision based upon. And then he, and then he was asked as follow up, basically, you know, looking basically seeing what happened totah, the way he was thrown down. Is that the kind of take down that you were trying to prevent? He said, no, not necessarily. He also made a similarly egregious call against the Ravens on Josh Allen. Last week as well. So, you know, I know if you'll say, Oh, it's a Tom Brady call, he, he did, he did. There was a play that was kind of similar that he threw the same flag on for Josh Allen. Just a bad, whether, whether you're gonna it, it's a Tom Brady call or not. Just a bad call and look who's to know what would happen. Maybe Atlanta doesn't win. There's no guarantee. But we never get to find out because they, they should have gotten off the field. It was a third down. They should have gotten off the field and given the offense chance to, to, to try win this game. Look more than anything you robbed the fans of, of, of a greater game. Well, the fans there in Tampa, I'm sure were happy, but Yes. Yes. The everyday fans, you're robbing the everyday fans of, of a, of a greater. You know so, and, and, and I have a feeling I don't wanna really get on this guy too much because I have a feeling that. That, that's coming down from League where they're saying, you know, especially, and, and again, it's bounding down to fucking public opinion. It's bounding down to everything that happened with Tah and it's the overreaction. It, it, it's, it's like and, and, and, and it, it's, it's like I have to be, I'm gonna become that grumpy old guy that's gonna sit on his portion, say, Leave my game alone. It's the degradation of the greatest game. In the history of mankind because it's because Karen's and fricking nerds have decided to take over this game. Yeah, I I mean, I should, I should have known the, the day that we got to wear pink on the football field was the day that, that, that that old school football was over. Sure. You're going, you're going back there again. Funny enough. Cord Darrell Patterson, who is on short term, I are here for the f so he's, he playing this game. He his, he changed his Twitter profile picture to the picture of Jerome Bo or making the personal foul call in that game. Yeah. So whatever what it's worth, whatever, whatever that means. Yeah. But I mean, who, who knows if it would've won that game or not? That we don't know, but we, it's like, to me it's almost like the, the Des Bryant catch against the Packers. Like, I'm not saying if the Cowboys score there, there's no guarantee to win the game. We'll just never know. It's like one of those things we would've liked to see what would've happened had they actually called the, the right way. Right. Sorry, I didn't mean to go back to Cowboy You can't help yourself, you can't help myself. Real quick, let's close out by talking about tonight's game real quick, man. Chief playing host of the Raiders. What do you think happens to this one? Obviously the, the Raiders getting off the Schneider last week, avoiding an Owen four start by beating the Chargers. Excuse me. Yeah, if I be the Chargers at home. Okay. They can still be one on four when all said and done. What do you think of this game? And I, and do you think Raiders are still playing from a standpoint of desperation? One, what? Being one in four now Raiders are the best one in one in 3, 1 14, or sorry, one in, one in three. One in S that I've seen and, and look, But what does that really mean? At the end of the day? Like, yes. No, I guess in the sense of like, Kansas City's not gonna overlook them because historically they actually play Casey and Casey pretty well. And look, Raiders have always been the team that, that amazes us because two years ago, they're the team that beat KC when KC was unstoppable. And then last year when KC couldn't beat anybody, they went against the Raiders and they got fixed. It's like, it's like Raiders playing the Kansas City, playing the Raiders. It's like, go to Bizarre World It's, it's, it's like you're doing the computer. You know, you're, you're doing the complete opposite. So yeah. So look, the reason why I say they're the best o and three team, and they're the best one and three team that I've ever seen in my life, is because they could very easily beat an Exxon, Kansas City team. That's, that's, that's why it matters. That's why it matters. They could, I, I don't think Casey's gonna overlook him. They are favored by seven and a half. So pretty, pretty sizable spread there. But but yeah, I, I, I expect Casey to take care of business. I do, I do. I think they were able to handle the Chargers at home because the Chargers we've seen you know, they're, they're not a very effectively run football team. Now you're going on the road to play Andy Reed. I just with, with an X extra to prepare. I, I, I see this as, I don't know if they're gonna cover, but they're gonna get this w in my opinion, what do you think, man? Right. No. I, I, I, if I had to bet, I think it's gonna, it's gonna be a better game than, than, than we give credit. I think it's gonna be better because Raiders can strike just as easily as as Kansas City can. But again, if I, if I had to pick algo Kansas City, but you know, again, this inter division game, any, anything, anything can happen. I'm, I'm looking at, I'm not sold on Josh McDaniels man. And I think if they don't win that game against the Chargers last. He might have lost a locker room. Okay. Let's see how it goes tonight, because we know he flamed out in Denver pretty quick. You know, if they start one in four, I don't know, man. I don't think the Raiders are gonna be bra obviously, but, but that, that would not be an ideal start for new head coach Josh McDaniels. So I'm, Yeah, that's what I'm looking at is how, how is he gonna manage the crisis? This one if he gets to that point, because I'm not fully so on him as a head coach quite yet. Well, I, I think, I think this is one of those situations where Mr. Davis has will, will be, will be patient and he will look into the fact that, look, David went oh three and lost by combined 13 points. So it, it's, you know, he didn't expect Josh McDaniel to come in and take over this year and, and, and win the Super Bowl. This is, you know, this is, this is something, they have a very talented role, like at the very least. He's an offensive guy. You've got Devonte Adams, you got Darren Waller, you got Hunter Renfro. You got, you got weapons galore. Like the offense should be good. The offense should be important. The very least. He's, he's revived. Josh Jacobs. Yeah. I mean, look at this with Josh Jacobs is playing the best football. I've seen him play. Yeah, look, I mean, they, they get the W here and and all was right is. Yeah, but I also don't think that he's fired if he loses. I, I, I think he's not fired, but I think it's, it bears into question his ability. And that's why I'm saying I'm looking at how is he managing crisis. Right. So we'll, we'll have to wait and see on that one, but it should be a good one. Like you said, it is bizarre role when they play. It should be a good inter division game. I'll be having fun, man. Absolutely. Hey, listen, Before, before we end it, I want give a shout out to our to our brothers and sisters in Iran who are suffering. Over, over what hundred 50 people killed in the streets right now. And, and just wanna give a, give a shout out to our brothers and sisters in Iran where look, call your congressman. Call, call, call people and tell them about the plight of the, of the Iranians and in Iran right now. What's happening to'em. And just, just our thoughts and prayers are with them. prayers of peace and prosperity. People deserve it, man. Just like anybody else. Absolutely. I hope it gets resolved, man. Courage. Courage that those people have shown, man. Big time. Well, sir. All right, until next time We'll be back for a week six preview now coming up. It's a tune then. Thanks, Char. Always fun buddy. We'll talk soon. Yes sir. Talk to you soon.
