Learning To Live With Incurable Diseases Such As AIDS and COPD: John Marino's Journey
Show Notes

John Marino Retired Body Worker

John’s interest in alternative therapies began in 1975 when he was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis and lupus erythematosis.

Unwilling to live his life in a wheelchair, he began studies in Swedish massage, reflexology, Rieki, shiatsu and barefoot shiatsu.

He is certified in each of those traditions.

Once over the crippling effects of the disease, he began the study of Yoga in the Iyengar tradition.

In addition to rheumatoid arthritis, John was diagnosed with AIDS in 1984. In 1985, he discovered he has been HIV+ since 1981.

It wasn’t until 1999 that a hepatitis-C co-infection was discovered.

Then in 2014, COPD was diagnosed.

Throughout a lifetime of many health challenges, he credits his knowledge of alternative therapies and yoga for keeping him healthy, happy and alive!

He focused his work in communities with special needs, including elders, at-risk youth, and persons with movement impairments.
