It is rare these days that I get excited by a piece of camera equipment. Getting new stuff at this point is like getting a new car, its great, but when you realise it does the same thing as your last car (gets you for A to B) the novelty wears off pretty quick. A new camera now is just a replacement for the old one that does the same thing, but a fraction better than the old one.
But every now and then you see an opportunity. You can see a potential for being able to use something to do things you couldn't do before. That's what happened for me when they announced the DJI Osmo Pocket 3. This fairly cheap, small and unassuming camera might just be the thing I have been looking for to be able to elevate and create further efficiencies in my workflow as a hybrid photo and video shooter. The best part is, if this is what it can do, think of where we will be in a few years time - that's even more exciting. The future is here!
So I bought it and in this episode I discuss my initial thoughts, its initial use at a real wedding and how I plan to integrate it into my set-up going forwards.
