Are you ready to create a life you crave? Let's spin that doom loop of negativity into an upward success cycle and start Living Lucky®. Good morning. I'm Jana, I'm Jason and we are Living Lucky® you are too.
Jason Shelfer:Read the quote. The quote is you would be surprised at who is watching your journey and being inspired by it. Don't give up.
Jana Shelfer:You would be surprised at who is watching your journey and being inspired by it.
Jason Shelfer:Don't give up.
Jana Shelfer:I sometimes wonder. I sometimes wonder. I sometimes doubt that.
Jason Shelfer:So I think it for me a lot of times we don't recognize how wonderful we have it, how great things are, like what the world that we're creating for ourselves. And there's someone out there saying I wish that I could be just like them. I wish that I had what they have. I mean, we hear it all the time when people talk about our relationship.
Jana Shelfer:You are right about that. You are right about that. And it's not that I take it for granted, because I truly tell people it is the jackpot of life.
Jason Shelfer:For me, I would say it's one of the like, it's our top value, it's one of the things that we appreciate the most. I agree, and people recognize it. Now, what we don't hear like straight out is people saying I want your jobs, like I want to be doing what you're doing. But I know that there are people that do. It's just not something they feel comfortable saying for some reason. Yeah, the coaches that I coach are like I want to be like you and I'm like that's great, but be like yourself, because your unique power is in being true to yourself and allowing yourself to be the inspiration for someone else.
Jana Shelfer:No see, I don't see that, jason. I think people are looking at us going. They don't realize they're making fools of themselves.
Jason Shelfer:Hey, if I'm making a fool of myself, so be it, because I love the life I'm living. I 100% love, like all capital letters, love the life I'm living.
Jana Shelfer:No, I think people are watching us during our morning coffee.
Jason Shelfer:And I think they're thinking You're thinking of our parents, that's what you're thinking.
Jana Shelfer:Oh, I know, I know our parents.
Jason Shelfer:And.
Jana Shelfer:I also know some of our friends, or maybe even some of our neighbors, are thinking oh, that's so cute. Look at them.
Jason Shelfer:So this is the deal. Because my dad has straight up said I don't want to talk to you about what you're doing, because I don't get it.
Jana Shelfer:They're sure trying hard, those two Gosh.
Jason Shelfer:You got to give it to them. You're killing me Smalls they keep showing up. They show up every week for each other and themselves.
Jana Shelfer:Bless their hearts. You know what?
Jason Shelfer:I really just I quit caring what they thought so long ago.
Jana Shelfer:I'm glad you're laughing.
Jason Shelfer:I'm so glad you're laughing, and it's not that I don't love them any or that I love them any less or anything like that. It's just. It's kind of like the lion arguing with a donkey.
Jana Shelfer:When does the lion argue with the donkey? It fucking doesn't.
Jason Shelfer:Because it's not worth arguing with the donkey.
Jana Shelfer:Why so?
Jason Shelfer:if they don't get it, the donkey's a person too, but the donkey is closed minded and is stubborn. So a mule is it. The donkey's a person too, but the donkey is closed-minded and is stubborn.
Jana Shelfer:So a mule is stubborn, yeah, but the donkey never gives up.
Jason Shelfer:It never gives up, but it's also closed-minded and stubborn. So if the lion's trying to explain something to the donkey and the donkey's like, no, I don't believe it, I don't believe it, I don't get it, all that stuff, the lion's not going to spend its time arguing with the donkey. Which one are you? I'm the lion baby.
Jana Shelfer:You know this, Don't you call me a donkey. No, I think so. I think the world, I think our parents, I think our neighbors.
Jason Shelfer:I think our friends, I think they're donkeys.
Jana Shelfer:They think we're donkeys. Well, and that's okay, and they think they're lions and they're like oh, those donkeys never give up. Oh, oh, that's gonna make me fart.
Jason Shelfer:That's so funny and we just show up and every now and then they'll give us a thumbs up just to like, oh, okay, and see, I don't, I'm such a lion that I that doesn't even faze me, really.
Jana Shelfer:Yeah, that's the real line, that's the real, uh yeah that's the real swagger right there, yeah that's the flex yeah is okay, just not caring is just not caring if I love the experience of my life. I did hear that once, my wife and everything, then I don't.
Jason Shelfer:if I started caring what everybody else said, I would not be showing up the way I do and I wouldn't be having the fun that I'm having. I wouldn't be having the joy and the experiences of life that I'm having.
Jana Shelfer:You know that is true, that is true. I have said it before. Andy Warhol, who was an artist and someone that is dear and near to my heart, he said that his life changed when he learned the two words.
Jason Shelfer:so what so, what so, what so what.
Jana Shelfer:I feel, like you're.
Jason Shelfer:Who's the Iris lady?
Jana Shelfer:Iris Apfel.
Jason Shelfer:Yeah, I love her. I feel like she was like a so what, I'm going to be me. She was a so what? So what, I'm going to live out loud.
Jana Shelfer:Who cares what people think? So what?
Jason Shelfer:And I feel like they probably just enjoyed, like the way I'm enjoying life. I grew up in a small town, right, and it's in my DNA to care what people think yeah, even if you don't know what you're doing in a small town, just call your neighbor, because they know what you're doing.
Jana Shelfer:Exactly, and it's been very hard for me. In fact, I have had to go radio silent on social media for long periods of time, because sometimes social media can be can be a real downer for my mental wellness sometimes because I do care I do care what people think, and sometimes I don't know I get on social media and it has the opposite effect. It can create a spiral.
Jason Shelfer:It does not lift me up. I think it creates a spiral for most people. I just think you have the awareness of it.
Jana Shelfer:Yeah.
Jason Shelfer:Yeah, like I have a feeling that the majority of people on social media and I could be completely wrong but when I talk to people about social media it's like did you see what so-and-so is doing? Like there's this underlying current of.
Jana Shelfer:And I'm like no, I haven't. I seriously don't even know if we're friends on social media.
Jason Shelfer:Envy, jealousy, comparisonitis, all these things of people's little perfect snapshots, and there's a shadow side to that. That kind of sits in your soul and marinates and I think, your awareness of that and saying you know what? I don't need social media right now. What I need is to not have social media right now.
Jana Shelfer:You know, I read a quote earlier today that said we will be the only generation that will know what life is like before social media.
Jason Shelfer:That's crazy to just think about that. Right yeah, I was sitting in front of the microwave last night and I was like Sitting in front of the microwave. Yeah, you know how I like to watch food cook I kid you not.
Jana Shelfer:That's why you have back problems sometimes you lean over and you look in the oven.
Jason Shelfer:I lean over in the oven. We need a taller oven. I lean over and look in the oven?
Jana Shelfer:No, we don't. We have it shorter so that I can reach it. Your wife is in a wheelchair, I know. That's why we have a short oven. I'm compromising.
Jason Shelfer:So I'm trying to build my back muscles up by staring into the oven, but I was sitting on the floor looking in the microwave because our microwave is very low.
Jana Shelfer:Our microwave is extremely low, even for me and I was just thinking it's like knee high.
Jason Shelfer:Because there's the air that gets pushed out of the microwave. Yeah, I remember when microwaves first came out, there was this like don't stand close to the microwave, don't look at the microwave when it's cooking your food, you're going to get brain cancer. I was like why would we have this in our house? But it cooked food so quickly. And then welcome to TV dinners that are microwave and not oven. Oh, but it's a weird thing. I was thinking because that was like 40 years ago.
Jana Shelfer:Oh, wow.
Jason Shelfer:Yes, 35, 40 years ago that the microwave came out. Yes, we got our first microwave, 40 years ago. Was it before the VCR or after? Oh gosh, it doesn't matter.
Jana Shelfer:Yeah, it doesn't.
Jason Shelfer:We're aging ourselves. We're aging ourselves, I love. It's just weird for me to think about. We're the last generation that will know what it was like to not have social media when we were growing up.
Jana Shelfer:What is this podcast about?
Jason Shelfer:The quote, honey, the quote. You would be surprised at who is watching your journey and being inspired by it. Don't give up.
Jana Shelfer:So why are we talking about microwaves? I got.
Jason Shelfer:I squirreled off. I squirrel off sometimes, but what I will say is-.
Jana Shelfer:That's why I'm not sure we're inspiring people. That's why our parents think we're donkeys.
Jason Shelfer:So there are going to be 50 people that text us in the little notes in the podcast notes yeah, and they're going to say this is inappropriate content. They're going to say this is inappropriate content, you should stop. But if I listen to them, there are a thousand other people and we've got over 200, almost 250,000 downloads right now. There's a bunch of other people that are inspired by.
Jana Shelfer:Actually, I think it's closer to 300. Yeah, so they're inspired by what we're doing and I will say every now and then I do get surprised by a random person.
Jason Shelfer:Right At the grocery store or at the At the bank, believe it or not.
Jana Shelfer:Was it at the bank this time? At the bank?
Jason Shelfer:Are you Jana from the?
Jana Shelfer:Living Lucky®.
Jason Shelfer:Podcast yes, yeah, I don't get that that often.
Jana Shelfer:I mean who goes? I don't even go to the bank, right, but I did.
Jason Shelfer:You got to stop doing that. Fans are everywhere.
Jana Shelfer:Talk about VCRs and microwaves.
Jason Shelfer:See, and they wouldn't mention it if it wasn't inspiring them, if they didn't, if there wasn't something there that was kind of holding them in. So it's a, it's one of those things and we so many times we will never know how we're affecting someone, like if, even if we just change, if we, if we just inspire that one person or two people, that and they and those people change the world, and then when we're dead and gone and ashes, they're going to be like you know, I never would have done that if I hadn't heard Jana say this.
Jana Shelfer:You're, you know you're right. And sometimes I live in embarrassment, shame, guilt. I have these feelings like oh gosh, I look stupid, I'm going to get rejected, going to get rejected. And sometimes if I just face those feelings and squash them, then I can. I can plow through those, those lower vibrational feelings, and that is when I tend to just put myself out there, and that's when I I reach someone like you say, say and so you do kind of have to risk, you have to risk.
Jana Shelfer:You've got to risk it for the biscuit, yeah you have to risk making a fool of yourself every now and then.
Jason Shelfer:And I do that every day and I'm not going to stop.
Jana Shelfer:So what.
Jason Shelfer:Who cares? So what?
Jana Shelfer:Who cares what people think right?
Jason Shelfer:Thank you, andy Warhol. So what so what? Who cares what people think?
Jana Shelfer:right, thank you, andy Warhol. So, what, so, what? All right, read the quote one last time. Let's put a button on this.
Jason Shelfer:You would be surprised at who is watching your journey and is inspired by it. Don't give up. Keep going.
Jana Shelfer:Don't give up.
Jason Shelfer:Keep pushing, keep swimming, don't stop believing.
Jana Shelfer:Oh, keep Living Lucky® pushing.
Jason Shelfer:Keep swimming. Don't stop believing. Keep Living Lucky®. Don't stop believing. You changed the key. Hold on to that feeling. God, I sound good. Oh my gosh, I got all the keys in there. That time I'm going to stop them.
Jana Shelfer:I'm going to stop them, you're welcome.
Jana Shelfer:You're welcome. Have a great day. Thank you for joining us and keep Living Lucky® Bye-bye. If the idea of Living Lucky® appeals to you, visit us at www. LivingLucky. com.
