Jana Shelfer:

Are you ready to create a life you crave? Let's spin that doom loop of negativity into an upward success cycle and start Living Lucky®. Good morning. I'm Jana, I'm Jason and we are Living Lucky®. You are, too, jason's in this group called Dream Builders, and I love this club because it literally is a group of men that get together once a month and they talk about their dreams.

Jason Shelfer:

Building your dreams.

Jana Shelfer:

And one thing that you noticed on Friday when you went to your Dream Builders meeting.

Jason Shelfer:

Is that the majority of people in there are noticing a heaviness in the world around them, noticing a heaviness?

Jana Shelfer:

in the world around them. So I ask you that are all listening. Are you feeling a heaviness in the air?

Jason Shelfer:

Yeah. So one of the things I noticed is that there are people this is what happened. There's people dying around them, there's sickness, there's bad quote unquote bad things happening.

Jana Shelfer:

So, whether it's health related or finances, I know in my groups a lot of people are talking about hey, you know, I get to the end of the month and there's no money in my account on the 12th, there's more money left. Yes.

Jason Shelfer:

Yes.

Jana Shelfer:

And then, you know, I talked to some family members and I've noticed that they're all talking about oh I've got some, I've got this pain in my hip or I've got a back pain. I mean, we're included in this.

Jason Shelfer:

We do this too, and it's relationships. There's a heaviness of stress, anxiety, fear that's ever present in the world around us today, and it's happening in conversations.

Jana Shelfer:

I think it's happening in politics.

Jason Shelfer:

It's definitely happening in politics and when it happens in politics, then that's what the news. It's highlighted in the news.

Jana Shelfer:

It is not only highlighted, it is in our face, 24-7. Everything we read on social media, every news story, is literally about the assassination of one political figure, charlie Kirk, or it's about Korea and China taking over the world. Do you know what I'm saying? There's a lot of heaviness. That causes fear.

Jason Shelfer:

And it's almost hard to escape. So it's almost hard to ignore, and I'm not saying that the healthy thing is to ignore it. What I am saying is that the healthier thing is to probably notice it but not focus on it.

Jana Shelfer:

You know, that's a really good point, and I want to really dive into the distinction there, because we have received emails and we have been told many times that you and I have toxic positivity.

Jason Shelfer:

Yeah.

Jana Shelfer:

And it's quite the opposite, really.

Jason Shelfer:

I thought we were going in a different direction.

Jana Shelfer:

Yeah, it is quite the opposite, because we actually-.

Jason Shelfer:

We're not oblivious and we don't ignore.

Jana Shelfer:

We don't ignore, we feel the feels. We feel the feels. So we're feeling the heaviness and the stress, anxiety, the doubt that's happening right now we recognize the ability to choose what serves in the most empowering way. But then we decide, we make a conscious choice to change our awareness to what serves us.

Jason Shelfer:

And to also to work with what the controllables are. I mean, that's the big thing is. So often we get hung up in the uncontrollables.

Jana Shelfer:

In what we can't control.

Jason Shelfer:

Yes.

Jana Shelfer:

And that's when we start feeling powerless.

Jason Shelfer:

And we get hyper-focused on these uncontrollables and the power is within, Like this goes all the way back to Wizard of Oz, where Dorothy's like trying to do all these things and then she's searching outside for all these powers. And Glenda is like you've had it all along. It's just within you. You had to find it yourself. Yes, so it's. We get hyper-focused on what's bad happening in the world and we don't.

Jana Shelfer:

And it becomes contagious.

Jason Shelfer:

We don't make a conscious decision to say, okay, well, what do I? What is it that I want? I want good. Yeah, I want less bad, I want more good. Well, look for the good, stop looking for the bad, stop recognizing and focusing on the bad and start recognizing and focusing on the good, and what you'll find is really there's a lot more good.

Jana Shelfer:

It's a yin and yang. It's always a yin and yang.

Jason Shelfer:

But there is a lot more good than bad. It's just we put more weight on the bad because it scares us more. We feel it deeper. I mean there's all this like there's more feeling in that negativity because we're trained to protect ourselves.

Jana Shelfer:

It goes back to caveman days, because when bad things happen, you want to protect yourself.

Jason Shelfer:

Avoid, protect like, survive, survive. And all those things lead to non-survival. So you're like I would rather avoid the pain than seek out the good.

Jana Shelfer:

Oh, that was heavy and there was a lot in that last six minutes.

Jason Shelfer:

Yeah Well, just how do we kind of we're a product of what we take in. It's one of those old things from back in the 70s. So I grew up in the 70s and 80s and they tell you you are what you eat right, you are what you eat, so basically what that says is you will become the friends that you hang around with you are a product of what you consume.

Jana Shelfer:

Yeah, I feel like I heard the saying if you're going to hang with dogs, you're going to get fleas.

Jason Shelfer:

Get the fleas yeah.

Jana Shelfer:

Right, so we become our environment.

Jason Shelfer:

Yes, so you're a product of what you consume. So what you're watching, what you're hearing, what you're around all these things, all these influences on your life around, like all these things, all these influences on your life. So start being accountable to yourself on what you are noticing, what you're taking, putting in Like garbage in, garbage out. Put better stuff in, like make sure you're reading something that's beneficial, that lifts you up, like listen to good music.

Jana Shelfer:

Oh, you know, I have to tell you, I have started like blocking people on social media, like I literally have done a digital detox.

Jason Shelfer:

You've also started having an intentional playlist. I've had an oh, I listen to music, which has changed your like energy level.

Jana Shelfer:

It changes my mood. I'm like, remarkably simply, the best, do do all the rest.

Jason Shelfer:

You change the key on me well, I have a pocket full of keys and a bucket full of tunes. What am I gonna do with him?

Jana Shelfer:

what am I gonna do with him? So at your Dream Builders meeting. What was the overall solution of?

Jason Shelfer:

things are happening to them. It doesn't mean that we have to live into it, that we have to like. We don't have to agree that that is the absolute, that that is happening everywhere and we can start pointing out where the good is. That just because this has happened doesn't mean it's going to constantly be that way. So this too shall pass and start recognizing okay, where are the good things in life?

Jana Shelfer:

okay, so that that's really great.

Jana Shelfer:

Those are perfect words, but they're much easier said than they are easier said than so I'm going to throw in a practical tool that a coach taught me, coach Donna, and it has helped me so much and it literally is almost. Do you remember when you were younger and someone would touch you and say you've got cooties, cooties, and then they would shield themselves? They would be like I'm shielded, you can't touch me now, and it was such a dumb thing. But she taught me that if you kind of shield yourself, you shield your energetic field, almost put an egg around yourself then you can still empathize and have compassion for people and you can still be real when you're hearing okay, what's going on in the world, what's happening, how are you feeling right now? You know, share with me your challenges. However, you don't have to embody that.

Jason Shelfer:

Right, and that's a big thing, because sometimes it's hard not to kind of meld with the person that is telling you yes, because you want to feel those feels with them a lot of times.

Jana Shelfer:

Yes, so yeah, I mean you turn on the news. There is a lot of heaviness that's happening in the world which causes doubt, uncertainty, fear, anxiety. We don't need to become that right.

Jason Shelfer:

Yeah, we don't need to make a big mural of it for our lives to look at every day.

Jana Shelfer:

And we also don't need to just completely ignore it, but we do need to shield ourselves from embodying that.

Jason Shelfer:

Yeah, and the other thing is is know what you want like, know who you are in your soul, soul, and then allow that fire to burn, like I know that I'm a loving, caring person and just because if I felt like something bad was happening in my life doesn't mean I have to stop loving and caring, so I don't need to let something outside change the fire that burns within me and a lot of times what I used to do that. Does that make sense? Like I would say I got burned by someone else, I'm going to dim, I'm not, I'm not sharing my flame with them anymore.

Jana Shelfer:

Yes, don't let the external feelings or emotions affect who you are on the inside.

Jason Shelfer:

Yeah, and a lot of times that'll happen if you haven't put that protective barrier between you and someone that's just sharing information with you, yeah, no, literally.

Jana Shelfer:

Take your finger and act like you're spraying hairspray and literally go. Take your finger and act like you're spraying hairspray and literally go shh, just douse yourself with that force. I'm shielded, I'm shielded. You got cooties? No, I don't.

Jason Shelfer:

Can't give them back.

Jana Shelfer:

I'm shielded, I'm shielded. Have a great day.
