Time disappears. Output skyrockets. Effort feels like gravity. Most entrepreneurs spend years "building a brand" without ever "birthing an offer." We’ve spent months in the muddle, but over the last two weeks, we hit a level of Flow State so intense we forgot to eat, shower, and take the dog out. In this high-density episode, Jason and Jana Banana reveal how to stop "thinking" about your business and start producing the tangible tools your audience is starving for.

This isn't just about productivity; it's about the mechanical shift from brand awareness to a clear customer journey. We unpack how we finally "birthed" our gratitude journals and relationship course by leaning into the creative surge and protecting it with the right structure.

Inside this episode:

  • Automated Imagination: Identifying the environmental cues that trigger deep flow.
  • The Creative Drift: Why "parallel play" leads to misalignment and how "huddles" fix it.
  • Awareness to Assets: Moving from "reach out if you need help" to firm, clear offers.
  • Constraints as Protection: Using accountability and deadlines to ship the work.
  • The Mirror Principle: How third-party coaching heals the communication gap in partnerships.

Your business doesn't need more "networking"—it needs you to get in flow and ship. Hit play to turn your imagination into your greatest asset.

Key Nuggets

  • Flow is an Environment: It isn't a mystery; it’s a repeatable ritual. Design your space to trigger deep work.
  • The "Birth" Milestone: Real growth happens when you stop talking and start producing tangible assets.
  • Huddle or Drift: Flow is a tunnel. Without regular check-ins, partners end up in two different universes.
  • Action > Inspiration: We finished in 4 days what sat in a box for 4 years. The only difference was the deadline.
  • Energy is Contagious: In partnerships, one person’s flow acts as a silent invitation for the other to level up.

Flow state, productivity hacks, entrepreneurship, Living Lucky, mindset coaching, creative momentum, customer journey, how to enter flow state on purpose, benefits of deep work for entrepreneurs, shifting from brand awareness to sales, creating digital assets in flow, overcoming decision fati

Welcome And The Big Question

Jana Shelfer

Are you ready to create a life you crave? Let's spin that doom loop of negativity into an upward success cycle and start Living Lucky®.

Speaker

Good morning. I'm Jana. I'm Jason. And we are Living Lucky®.

Jason Shelfer

We are two. Flow state. Yes, my grits. What are you talking about? I don't know why. I thought of Alice's diner or what?

Speaker

Oh, you thought of flow.

Jason Shelfer

I did think of flow stuff.

Speaker

Literally thought of flow.

Jason Shelfer

I got very literal.

Speaker

I thought of flow state.

Jason Shelfer

I I know what you're talking about because we've been in flow state for like the last week and a half.

Jana Shelfer

Time has disappeared for me. I don't know when the last time I showered. I don't know if I should admit that. No, I got in bed. I think it was last night. It was two nights ago. Oh, stop. You don't need to say that.

Jason Shelfer

It was two nights ago because you said, I think my fingers smell.

Jana Shelfer

I did. I go, I feel like my fingers smell.

Jason Shelfer

Like, what do they smell like? And we couldn't quite name it.

What Deep Flow Feels Like

Jana Shelfer

It's okay. Now we're getting disgusting. And the thing is, is Jason and I are inspired. We are inspired right now with our work, our workflow. And we are getting into this flow state where literally we are sitting across from each other at the table, and neither one of us says a word to each other.

Jason Shelfer

15 hours a day. And it's just so fun.

Jana Shelfer

And we look up at each other every now and then, like sometimes it's six and seven hours. And we look up and we say, Have we eaten today?

Jason Shelfer

Right. And then like, oh my gosh, I have to pee and I have to pee so bad.

Jana Shelfer

Tater will come over and she starts herumfering.

Jason Shelfer

They gotta go out.

Jana Shelfer

And we go, have we taken Tater out? Oh my gosh, we need to take Tater out. So then we take her out and we walk around the pond, and then we come back in and we immediately start going back into our flow state. It has been bizarre.

Jason Shelfer

It's been incredible. And it's just been so fun. And I I feel like even the even Tater recognizes it. The dog is recognized.

Jana Shelfer

It has been crazy.

Jason Shelfer

She's not, she's just letting us know, hey, get up, take a break.

Jana Shelfer

Yeah, we we gotta go outside, is what she's saying. Which it's we gotta go for a walk.

Jason Shelfer

And now you talk about how we've sat across from the table for six, seven hours at the time, not really talk to each other, but we have we we go into our huddles, yeah, and then we come out and we do our we do our thing for seven hours.

Staying Aligned While Creating

Jana Shelfer

I know it's too long. You shouldn't work for that long of time. However, we're both being so productive and we're on the right track. But the only thing is, is I feel we get into these states for such long periods of time that when we do come out of them, when we finally do look up and say, hey, should we maybe huddle up and see what the other person is working on? It I realize, ooh, we're going in slightly different directions.

Jason Shelfer

And some like I noticed one time that I did get, I started kind of veering. Like I went, I was like, oh, because I got so excited.

Jana Shelfer

And ditto. Because I really noticed it yesterday when we had our meeting with our we had a meeting with our VA team, and all of a sudden Jason was saying, Yeah, I sent you the I sent you a whole file cabinet full of stuff on in a Google Drive. And I was like, I knew nothing about this. Yes.

Jason Shelfer

Well, I included you in the email. It's just that you weren't in your email because you were in a flow state.

Jana Shelfer

And also in my flow state, I'm starting to go off on this a little more of a girly vibe.

Jason Shelfer

But I don't so I the part of this is it's not about what things aesthetically look like for me. And I was talking to someone this morning and it was he was talking about, we were talking about some of the journals that you're making.

Speaker

Yeah.

Jason Shelfer

Because I use these journals, and I had a client talk to that I was talking to the previously in the week about the journals, and they're like, your journal looks kind of girly. And I said, Well, if you're looking, if if the journal looks girly to you, uh-huh like you're you're thinking about it the wrong way. Because it's not about how it looks, it's about what it does.

Jana Shelfer

I know, but that that's exactly the thoughts that I was having too. Like there is this artsy side that comes out of me, and when I don't huddle up, and some people are not gonna be able to get over that. And I will also say it has been the number one thing that has held me back when it comes to our brand sometimes, right?

Jason Shelfer

Is that I can't always be a hundred percent who I want to be or am like who you are, and see it doesn't bother me because I love who you are and I actually love who the brand is. I know, but I I do feel but I know I don't know exactly what no one's gonna be taking our journal into a uh a hunting stand.

Speaker

Exactly.

Jason Shelfer

Exactly, or or probably not no one's gonna be pulling our journal out in at the poker table, exactly. And in fact, when I unless they have massive balls, yeah, like like that's like that's it's gonna be a major alpha move to pull out our journal at at that poker table. Oh and it is what it is, but it's a tool that is so profoundly successful and has done so much that I love what you're creating. Like when I saw what you were creating, I was blown away, absolutely stunned.

Jana Shelfer

I know it okay. So this podcast though is about flow state, and it is really about it what you're doing in flow state is you are tuning into source, you are tuning into something higher than yourself, and really you almost become a vessel, window, a vessel, a channel in a weird sort of way, and you allow the energy to flow through you.

Jason Shelfer

One thing that I did notice is that I eat a lot less in flow state, and I eat a lot more when you're out when when you come back out.

Jana Shelfer

I think maybe I eat for you.

Jason Shelfer

I think when you come out of flow state, because while you're in while you're in work mode, I don't eat, I think you're burning, but I also think you're burning a ton of calories while you're thinking.

Jana Shelfer

I I I literally was like, I don't know if I fit in my wheelchair anymore. Like I that that that like popped me out of flow state at one point. I was like, I think I'm feeling uncomfortable sitting here.

Jason Shelfer

Like, well, well, also you need to get out of your wheelchair every couple of hours just to change just to move, just to move, yeah.

Jana Shelfer

Sitting is the new smoking. I've heard that many, many a times.

Jason Shelfer

How many times does that thought have to cross your mind?

Jana Shelfer

Oh my gosh.

Turning Inspiration Into Offers

Jason Shelfer

But it has been incredible, though, the last week and a half of being able to just jump in and out of flow and create the amount of assets, create the amount of tools, and just build work in the business and on the bus, or I guess work on the business instead of in the business.

Jana Shelfer

It's kind of really, I think of it the other way. I don't know. I guess it's been so productive that it is what's so weird is that it feels like we have been building this, it's almost like we've been doing it backwards. We've been building this brand, we've been building brand awareness, we've been networking of hey, this is who we are, and this is what we stand for. This is who we are, and this is what we do, and this is how we can help people, and we haven't really given people a way to buy a product from us.

Jason Shelfer

There hasn't been a fluid customer journey to get to us and through us.

Jana Shelfer

Yes, we've kind of just said, hey, you know, if you if we feel like we can help you, reach out to us.

Jason Shelfer

Let's reach out, call me, text. Let us know how.

Jana Shelfer

You know, we haven't really given people a solid, firm offer of this is how we can help you, and this is what we do. And and so I feel like this past these past three weeks specifically, we have developed a relationship course, we have developed gratitude journals, we have to do it. And it they are just flowing out of us to the point where I don't want to stop. We are leaving uh to get on the road. We have a trip coming up, so we're trying to get it out while it's flowing. I don't want to interrupt the flow state because it just feels so good to finally birth these babies.

Jason Shelfer

Oh, get them babies out.

Jana Shelfer

But it feels like we're we're like birthing, it's almost like we're animals and we're birthing like multiple babies.

Jason Shelfer

That's what I'm talking about.

Jana Shelfer

The Octopolit.

Jason Shelfer

That's right. The Octo mom. Janaa's the new Octo mom.

Jana Shelfer

Do not call me that. I'm Joe of that label. But that's what it feels like. Am I right?

Jason Shelfer

You're right. I hear you. I hear you.

Jana Shelfer

Yes.

Jason Shelfer

And we're we've got literally another day before we're, or I guess a day and a half before we're in the car. And tomorrow we're packing, though. Yeah.

Jana Shelfer

That is one thing we're doing.

Jason Shelfer

Yeah.

Jana Shelfer

Anyway, but it has just been great. So if if anyone is listening to this, I'm sure you've experienced flow state, maybe not as intense as what we're describing right now. However, look for it. Once you're aware of it, it almost feels like now that I have experienced it at this level, I feel like we can create this on a regular basis and just lean into it a little bit more.

Jason Shelfer

Because out now I know exactly where it is within the Living Lucky brand. It's gonna be so much fun to just kind of play in that zone.

Designing Conditions For Repeatable Flow

Jana Shelfer

Say, hey, let's go there. I I know where it's at in the house, I know how to set it up. I know, I even know. In fact, what's so crazy is that's exactly where we were sitting during COVID. It's where we were sitting when all of this started.

Jason Shelfer

So when I think back, it's where we were sitting when we planned how we were going to win the world championship. It's where we were sitting when we when we started making the the two foot by three foot post-it notes that we always stick on the walls for almost all of our mind mapping programs for whatever goal we're trying to achieve. So it's it's one of I've got goosebumps again. So it's one of those, it's the area where we tend to fall into flow.

Jana Shelfer

It is.

Jason Shelfer

So it's and it's this is now the awareness thing again that we always come back to. What is the awareness? Because I feel like I I've I've recognized flow state kind of in life, and this is now where I'm recognizing flow state in business. Because a lot of times I haven't recognized our flow state in business. We've always had to call the coach over and say which we did that as well.

Jana Shelfer

And we're and I feel like that has helped us so much. You know, we got to a point where we didn't have a coach for a short while. And the minute we invested in our wealth consciousness class and started sitting down and learning again, which we never stopped learning. We just started learning in different areas. Like I was taking an investing class, and you were taking this area. Yeah, so we were taking in different areas, but we literally sat and started taking this wealth consciousness, and the guy in wealth consciousness literally is doing what we're doing, and he's teaching wealth consciousness. And what it did is it started getting our it opened up this level of awareness, reticular activating uh system into oh my gosh, he's doing exactly what we want to be doing, and then it was by random synchronicity that we joined Toastmasters again. We started speaking again, and it was a random Monday night. We went to speak, in comes one of our old coaches. I just happened to mention, hey, you know, we've had this random idea of coming up with a relationship class. Would you want to be our accountability coach? And she said, absolutely.

Jason Shelfer

I've been waiting for you guys to do this.

unknown

She did.

Jana Shelfer

She literally did. And so I feel like she has been a game changer as well because she not only has kept us targeted, focused, but she's kept using the customer.

Jason Shelfer

She's put some tight constraints on us.

Jana Shelfer

And she's helped us think even bigger.

Jason Shelfer

Yes.

Jana Shelfer

And I I feel like that equation in itself, and it's the same equation that we had when we were skiing. When we started putting uh goals on the wall, we hired a coach, we and it made us nail down the formula.

Jason Shelfer

It did because because for we we sat there and we were trying to flesh it out. Sat there trying to flesh it out for months. And when we're talking about it to ourselves, it still was a little muddled because we both had different perspectives on it. And when we're bouncing it off our coach, she hears it from both perspectives and says, Is this what I hear you saying? And we're like, Yeah, that's exactly aren't we both saying that? And we were both saying it. And she goes, I hear you saying it, you're just saying it differently. You're just not hearing each other the same. It's which is incredible. And so and this may or may not make sense to people out there, or it might make perfect sense to married people because married people are often saying the same thing a little bit differently, and they're just not hearing each other the same.

Jana Shelfer

At any rate, that's a different topic. Yeah, we're flow stating. We we have gotten in the flow state, and I feel like I feel like one of us maybe have maybe started falling into it, and then the other person started mirroring. Jumped right in, and that's another married common. Yes, I don't want to call it a problem, but it's a common pattern that happens in married couples, is that we fall into a mirrored mirrored energy state, energy state, yes.

Jason Shelfer

What and what do you want that energy state to be? Flow state is a very fun state to f to follow somebody into.

Jana Shelfer

And I I was texting my dad this morning. I just feel like ideas are coming at me so quickly, I can't keep up. It I just feel like I'm an AI engine right now. Do you know what I'm saying? I mean, it just they just feel like it's a lot of people. Automated imagination. Whoa!

Prompts To Find Your Flow

Jason Shelfer

That's it.

Jana Shelfer

Anyway, flow state. Just think about that this week and see where can you get in flow? See what activities bring that energy state to you.

Jason Shelfer

Yeah, what sparks your creative juices and gets your imagination going?

Jana Shelfer

Maybe it's the Living Lucky podcast.

Jason Shelfer

Maybe.
