Living Lucky® Podcast with Jason and Jana Banana
Who Do You Think You Are?
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
When you enter a season of deep reinvention, the people who knew the caterpillar will rarely recognize the butterfly.
True personal development operates under a ruthless, messy biological law: the chrysalis phase requires that you completely disintegrate your past conditioning. From the outside looking in, this profound structural teardown looks like destruction, failure, or a dark depression to your friends and family. Your old circle will aggressively try to hold you to the baseline parameters of who you used to be, entirely blind to the elite identity you are organizing beneath the surface.
In this explosive episode of the Living Lucky® Podcast, Jana and Jason ring in the “Season of J-A-S-O-N” (the calendar anomaly stretching from July through November) by mapping the raw engineering of a personal launch pad. Fresh off the momentum of shipping his first published book, Jason exposes the internal friction creators face when stepping onto a ridge they built themselves. They dismantle the high-stakes pressure of public exposure, breaking down why writing frictionless, quick chapters for busy humans is a distribution masterclass, and how to stay grounded when your rapid evolution confuses the people closest to your timeline.
Inside:
- The Biological Goo Parameter: Navigating the uncomfortable, destructive state of transformation where your old habits dissolve before your future capacity comes online.
- The Spotlight Drift: A clinical look at relationship dynamics, exploring how to seamlessly shift the organizational spotlight between partners without triggering ego fractures.
- Tapping the Creator Vortex: How aligning your decisions with your divine design reveals the "hidden doors" in the wall that were always there, but lacked a visible handle.
- Converting Mass into Propulsion: The physics of taking the heavy emotional weight of massive responsibilities and treating it like rocket fuel on a launch pad.
- The High School Reunion Reflex: Why returning to old environments forces you to manually re-introduce your boundaries to people who are heavily invested in your past limits.
Stop shrinking your identity to make unevolved environments feel comfortable. If you are ready to survive the chrysalis, claim your golden year, and step through the doors your brain filter has been hiding from your awareness, hit play now.

NUGGETS
- Your transformation is not required to make sense to your past circle. The entities stuck on the ground will always perceive your decision to build wings as a threat or a deep loss.
- You cannot see the handle of the door when you are looking through a toxic lens. The opportunities you crave are already present in your environment; you simply lack the focus parameters required to make them visible.
- Ego management is the ultimate anchor of an elite partnership. Allowing the spotlight to dynamically move between partners maximizes collective scale while preserving individual worthiness.
- Consistency requires lowering the friction of entry. Designing your output for the "in-between" waiting rooms of life converts dead time into incremental compounding assets.
- Weight is just unspent velocity. The massive energetic pressure of a heavy season isn't a signal to abort; it is the exact compound fuel required to catapult you off the launch pad.
Questions:
Why do family members and old friends frequently resist an individual's personal transformation? Family members and old friends resist personal transformation because their psychological safety is predicated on the individual's past, predictable baseline behavior. When that individual alters their identity, it shatters the established social contract, forcing the old circle to confront their own unexamined shadows, regrets, and stagnation, which they reject by treating the growth as destructive or incorrect.
What does the chrysalis or "goo" phase represent in cognitive restructuring? The chrysalis phase represents the cognitive threshold where past belief systems, behavioral habits, and identity parameters are systematically dismantled to clear spatial capacity for an advanced identity. Because the old patterns must dissolve before the new neuro-pathways can fully solidify, the individual experiences a period of intense ambiguity, vulnerability, and perceived disorientation.
How does a perspective shift reveal "hidden doors" within a current career or environment? A perspective shift reveals hidden opportunities by altering the filtering metrics of the Reticular Activating System (RAS). When an individual aligns their decisions with clear, high-vibrational intentions, the brainstem stops prioritizing historical threats and begins highlighting latent environmental assets, mentors, and pathways that were structurally present but completely ignored under past conditioning.
- The Calendar Trick: The subconscious coding behind the "Season of J-A-S-O-N" Discover the bizarre July-to-November calendar framework that Jason used to automate his confidence since childhood. Learn how to engineer your own repeating seasons of high-performance swagger.
- Doctor's Office Distribution: Designing frictionless products for an impatient world Jana reviews Jason's first book while stuck in a delayed medical line. Access the precise publishing logic of utilizing rapid, quick-nugget chapters to capitalize on your audience's dead time.
- The "What Do You Do?" Threat: Navigating the parents who think you're unemployed A deep, vulnerable dive into why your family members remain years behind your current business scale. Learn how to navigate the awkward reunions where old peers try to force you into a past box.
- Turning into Goo: The terrifying biology of the transformation threshold Analyze the raw mechanics of the caterpillar completely liquefying inside the chrysalis. Learn why your closest relationships think you are entering a clinical depression when you are actually reconstructing your future framework.
- Tapping the Creator Vortex: Merging alignment with your divine design When your desires and decisions match your underlying architecture, opportunities drop at hyper-speed. Learn how to alter your frequency to turn the local landscape into a manifestation loop.
- The Invisible Handles: Locating the secret exits hidden directly in your current wall The resources you need are not far away; you are simply neurologically blind to their presence. Learn how changing your question angle automatically prints a door handle right in front of your face.
- The Spotlight Drift: Managing marital dominance without fracturing the asset Jana aggressively hands the world-champion spotlight over to her husband for the new year. Discover how to transition administrative and celebrity capital inside a marriage without triggering envy or burnout.
- The Rocket Launch: Packaging your current operational weight into highly explosive fuel Jason redefines the intense pressure of his massive new content schedule. Learn the exact physics required to strap into your seat, stop treating life like a survival chore, and launch toward new planets.

Create A Life You Crave
Jana ShelferAre you ready to create a life you crave? Let's spin that doom loop of negativity into an upward success cycle and start Living Lucky®.
Why July Starts Jason Season
Jason ShelferGood morning. I'm Jana.
Jana ShelferI'm Jason. And we are Living Lucky®.
Jason ShelferYou are too.
Jana ShelferIt's the season of Jason. That's right, it is. We are starting July. And if you've never noticed, when you look at your calendar, you have July, August, September, October, November, November. And if you take the first letter of each of the months, what is it spelled?
Jason ShelferThe season of Jason.
Jana ShelferSo in our household, this is the season of Jason. However, this year it is particularly true.
Jason ShelferIt really is. I I feel so alive. Like I typically feel alive.
Jana ShelferUh-huh.
Jason ShelferBut there's something about this year coming off the golden year.
Jana ShelferYou've got swagger.
Jason ShelferThat everything, like the mountain we've been climbing or building. I'm standing on top of it, and we are building a new range and ridge around us that is just magnificent.
Publishing A First Book Fast
Jana ShelferLet me just fill you in if you're listening. Jason has now published his first book.
Jason ShelferAnd the first review that came in just blew my socks off. I was like, I wasn't expecting a review right off the bat. Right. It was amazing. Thank you, Rob W.
Jana ShelferAnd Jerry Stump. Right. So already I'm so happy for you. And plus, I read your book one day when I was waiting in the doctor's office, which is such a maybe an frustrating experience.
Jason ShelferRight. And I you show up on time and you're like, why am I waiting if I'm on time for my appointment?
Jana ShelferRight? When they're an hour late. Why am I on time when you're an hour late? Anyway, the time just passed so quickly for me when I was reading your book.
Jason ShelferWell, I designed the book to be a very quick read. It's it shouldn't, I'm a slow reader. I'm a slower writer, but it's a it's designed to just be kind of like our podcast, a very quick read. So you can get these little quick nuggets, quick little stories that are entertaining, yes, that also give you something of value, and you can get through it quickly. So if you're you're sitting and waiting in a school line, or sitting and waiting in a doctor's office, or sitting and waiting for your flight, you can actually just read a couple chapters, put it away, come back to it. You haven't missed anything, you haven't forgotten anything. It's just you're picking back up right in the middle.
Jana ShelferI love it. And not only have you published your first book, but you have been writing continuously. I know that there are several more to come, which probably will be out very, very
When Growth Confuses Family
Jana Shelfersoon.
Jason ShelferYeah, I've I've star I've almost finished the the new one called I'm My Kid's a Life Coach, and I don't know what that means. I'm not sure I I like that title, but well, it kind of harkens back to when we first started.
Jana ShelferYes. Our our parents, and I I not only when we first started, I mean this was just a year ago.
Jason ShelferIt's still happening. You know, like our parents are kind of a couple years behind where we are. My dad is getting there. It's getting there, but they're but still understanding what we do, how we make a living, what like what are we doing in the world because they don't see us on a day-to-day basis. They don't see us speaking in the rooms that we're speaking in all the time. They see us on occasion, which is just the way it is. It's like when you go back to a high school reunion and you have to it reintroduce yourself. Correct. So it's it's an interesting dynamic, and it's just kind of played itself out in different scenarios, and I've watched it play out with clients and also the coaches that I've coached in their lives. So I just wanted to kind of put that on paper and see what it looked like. If does if it gets published, let me let me put this into layman's terms.
Jana ShelferWhat he's really saying is that he is going through the butterfly process, meaning when a caterpillar becomes a butterfly, there's a whole transformation process. And many times it's the people closest to us that don't understand it. And if they do understand it, they almost feel there's feelings there that they don't understand, almost that they're threatened, that you're changing, and it makes them realize their own darkness or their own shadows start to come to life.
Jason ShelferWell, if you picture the caterpillar going into the chrysalis, and you picture whether the the things around it are caterpillars or butterflies, seeing the caterpillar go into the chrysalis, they recognize the caterpillar that went in. They don't know the butterfly that comes out.
Jana ShelferThey also see the chrysalis, and whatever's inside it has totally turned to goo.
Jason ShelferRight. It's destructive.
Jana ShelferThey don't know who they are or what they they're doing. And from the outside, when you're not familiar with this process, it may look like, oh my God, they're in a deep dark depression.
Jason ShelferThey are killing themselves in there.
Jana ShelferThey are being destructive, they have drifted so far from what I have taught them in the world.
Jason ShelferThere's a lot going on in there. And so even the butterflies that are outside looking at the caterpillar going in, if they aren't aware of the process that they've been through, then they they may not recognize, hey, this is just part of it. So there's there's a lot in there. Yeah, I think though, a true butterfly is gonna know it is knows the process.
Jana ShelferHey, good luck in there.
Jason ShelferThe force is with you.
Jana ShelferThey're getting ready to go through it.
Jason ShelferThat's right. Go through the fire.
Tapping Into Source And Awareness
Jana ShelferI will also say that your ideas that have been coming to you. This is the season of Jason. Just want to recap. And the ideas that have been flowing through you have been magnificent. I would say that you have tapped into source. And when I say source, I'm talking about God. I am talking about the universe, voice, God, it's all out there. Great, magnificent world, and there is a magical source.
Jason ShelferA creator.
Jana ShelferAnd when you tap into that creation zone, it becomes almost a vortex. And when you can tap into that and align that with your decisions, your desires, and your divine design, it just becomes magical. The right people start coming into your sphere at the right time, at the right place. And it almost feels like you wake up to this world and realize the clues have been all around me.
Jason ShelferAnd for some reason, I am now aware of all of the little you see the hidden doors that were literally in the wall, you just couldn't see the handle. Yes. Yes. I I I totally get it. I understand what you're saying. Hopefully, the listeners understand what we're saying. Yes. Because everything we have around us right now has always been here. It's just been a different way of thinking. It's been a different quote unquote download that we get because we've heard something differently, or we've heard the same thing in a different way or from a different angle, or we've just had a different way of seeing it. Correct. And that's that's what we talk about all the time is that awareness, that perspective, that that new angle of looking at something, so that we can say, Hey, what if the way I'm looking at it isn't the only way? What if I look at it from a different perspective? And that just gives me a new fragmented way of shining the light on where the handle is in this door that I haven't seen, and I can walk through a different way.
Spotlight Shift And Rocket Launch
Jana ShelferI want to say one more thing. I feel like we have said over and over that last year was our golden year, and the light was really shining on Jana. Even though it was our golden year, and we were doing everything together, it felt like the spotlight was mine. And I want to say we are having another golden year. It just feels that the spotlight now has shifted to Jason.
Jason ShelferAnd whether it's shifted to me or it's still us, I feel I feel the weight of it, but it's it's it's more of it's I don't know if it's a weight or if it's the energy of it.
Jana ShelferOkay.
Jason ShelferBecause I like I like the weight, but the weight feels energetic.
Jana ShelferYes.
Jason ShelferLike a fuel. So it's almost like my tanks are full, which is a weight that I get to use to to catapult. So I I like I however we want to phrase it, it feels good.
Jana ShelferHold on, baby. We're going for a wrap.
Jason ShelferThat's right, we're Living Lucky®.
Jana ShelferIt's the season of Jason. Now, if you're listening, every year when this July 1st comes around, you're gonna be like, oh, it's the season of Jason. And that's probably that probably happened to you somewhere when you were younger. You probably realized, oh my gosh, the calendar spells Jason, and someone probably said, It's the season of Jason.
Jason ShelferIt was probably me.
Jana ShelferAnd now in your subconscious mind, you've created a pattern.
Jason ShelferYeah. And I love it. And it might just be because it's summertime. I love the summers. I'm typically when I was younger, I was going off to camp and getting super creative.
Jana ShelferYes.
Jason ShelferLike I would get very nervous because I was away from home. I was constantly in a new environment doing that. Like you also love adventures. I love adventures.
Jana ShelferSo if you think of all of those new things as an adventure, now it becomes, oh, let's do it. There's a different energy about that.
Jason ShelferAnd the beautiful thing right now is we're at a season of life where we've built a lot of new, and now it's it's bringing that to almost like to the start line. And it's weird to call it a start line, but it's a it's one of those things where it's like we've got the rocket on the launch pad, and it's time to go visit the new planets.
Jana ShelferI feel like you've already lifted off.
Jason ShelferYeah.
Jana ShelferI'm just again, I'm putting on my seatbelt. Um, let's go for an adventure. Let's go explore.
Jason ShelferLet's do this.
Jana ShelferHopefully, you can find a little Jason season in your life. Thank you for joining us.
