Welcome to the Rebellious Healer, where we ditch the fear, decode the symptoms, and heal at the root. I'm Jenny Peterson, former holistic practitioner, turned mind-body rebel. For 20 years, I've helped people get to the root of chronic symptoms by changing the subconscious patterns behind them. If you're done chasing protocols, done outsourcing your power, and ready to get to the root of what's actually driving your symptoms, you're in the right place. You're probably doing a lot of things that are unknowingly putting your healing on pause. Not because you're doing it wrong, but because the healing world has trained you to focus on all the things that don't actually turn healing on. So today we're cutting through the noise. This episode is all about the seven healing secrets that turn healing on, the truths that actually shift your body out of protection and into repair, the things that make your symptoms finally make sense, and the things you've never been told but absolutely need to know. If you're ready to stop pouring energy into things that keep you stuck and start focusing on what actually moves the needle in your healing, this episode is where that shift begins. Let's dive in. After healing every chronic symptom I had and spending eight years helping others do the same, I've learned something. There are a few very specific things that flip the healing switch, and everything else is just noise. These seven are the ones that actually move your body forward. So let's start with secret number one. You can't hate or fear your body into healing. When you're dealing with chronic symptoms, it's so easy to turn against your own body, to fear every sensation, to panic at every flare, to get angry that things aren't changing, and to feel betrayed by the very thing that's supposed to support you. But here's the honest truth your body wishes you knew. You can't hate your body into healing, and you can't fear your symptoms into going away. Because let's just be real, if these things worked, you would be better already. Your body doesn't speak the language of fear, it speaks the language of safety. Every time you panic about a symptom, interpret it as something wrong, brace yourself for the next flare, get angry at your body, obsessively monitor symptoms, treat your body like a problem to fix. Your subconscious hears one thing: we're not safe. And when your body believes you're not safe, it will always stay in protection mode, not healing mode, which means fear doesn't make symptoms go away, anger doesn't make symptoms go away, fixing doesn't make symptoms go away. And definitely overthinking doesn't make symptoms go away. Safety does. Healing requires partnership with your body, not war. Healing requires listening, not micromanaging. And until you learn how to create a relationship with your body that is built on safety instead of fear, your symptoms will keep looping because your body is responding exactly the way it's wired to respond when it believes you're in danger. So if you're fearing your body, it's because you have a belief that there is something wrong. When you shift that meaning to it's working exactly how it's designed, that fear will naturally lessen. Secret number two, your subconscious runs the show. People hate hearing this because it means the conscious mind, the adult logical part of you, is not the one driving your healing. The subconscious is. Your body plays out those beliefs in real time. This is why you can do all the right things. Eat healthy, meditate, journal, regulate, take supplements, detox, you know the deal. And nothing changes because you haven't changed the script. The subconscious doesn't care that you want to heal, it cares about what it believes is safe. You and your subconscious need to get on the same page so that you're not consciously fighting with it. Secret number three, you have to let go of control. Stop trying to fix. One of the biggest reasons people stay stuck is because they're trying to control their healing. Control every symptom, sensation, all their food, everything around them. Trying to control your body is indicating that you don't trust your body, and it's amplifying anxiety. Control is a threat signal. It tells your subconscious, I'm not safe, something is wrong, I need to stay on high alert. And guess what it does? It keeps your body in protective mode, aka anxiety, the exact opposite of healing. But here's the part that will change everything. Your body already knows exactly what to do. Again, we always go back to the cut. Do you ever have to tell your body how to heal a cut? It does it all on its own. And you most of the time don't get mad at your body for not healing it fast enough, right? So we have to do the same thing with all our other symptoms because it's built to heal. Our body knows exactly what to do, and it's waiting for you to stop interfering long enough for it to do its job. Every time you try to fix, manage, or micromanage your symptoms, you are amplifying anxiety and you reinforce that belief that something bad is happening. And when that happens, you are sending your body the message, we can't relax, we're in danger. And a body that believes it's in danger cannot heal. Letting go of control isn't giving up, it's stepping aside. It's trusting your body's design instead of trying to override it. If you're gripping tightly to control, it didn't start with your symptoms. This pattern actually started long before this, most likely in childhood. Control was learned somewhere, whether you had to do that to feel safe emotionally or physically, or from seeing it being modeled to you, where your parents were overly controlling and now you're the same way. Patterns don't just stay in childhood, they grow up with you. So now control doesn't just show up in your relationships or your schedule. It shows up everywhere, it bleeds everywhere, and it's showing up in your healing as well. Control says I have to manage everything or something bad will happen. And trust says, my body knows what to do, I don't have to micromanage it. Secret number four. Safety is the number one requirement for healing. It's the only thing you need to focus on. When I say your body needs safety to heal, I'm not talking about feeling calm or relaxed. And I'm definitely not talking about regulating your nervous system. I'm talking about safety inside the subconscious, the part of you that decides whether you're in danger or not. Safety is being used very vaguely in the healing world. It's making it sound like all I have to do is tell myself that I'm safe and then I can heal. But that is not true. Safety is different for everyone because it's based on your patterns. Your symptoms aren't random. They are tied to very specific subconscious patterns that your brain has identified as quote-unquote dangerous. For example, if you have a lifelong pattern of not feeling good enough, your survival brain interprets that as unsafe. If you grew up feeling like you needed to be perfect to avoid conflict or receive love, your body now equates imperfection with danger. Or if you learned you had to overperform to get approval, your body thinks slowing down is a threat. If you were taught to ignore your needs, your body now experiences having needs as being unsafe. So when I say build safety, this is what I mean. You have to teach your subconscious the opposite of the pattern you've been living in. Not just repeat to yourself all day long that you're safe or do safety exercises. We have to take it deeper than that. It happens through repetition because you have repeated unconsciously your entire life this belief, for example, of I'm not good enough. So we have to now create proof with repetition so that your subconscious wires something new. And that comes from daily actions that prove that you do matter. There has to be action, not just speaking words, choices that reinforce your worthiness, moments where you stop abandoning yourself, behaviors that align with the identity of enough, and catching the old thoughts and replacing it with new ones, and showing your body over and over and over again that nothing bad happens when you choose a new path. And every time you take an action that supports I am enough, your subconscious updates its file. That's what builds safety. Not this positive thinking, not calming down, not avoiding triggers, not surface-level safety work. Rewiring the pattern is what creates the safety your body needs to shift into healing. This is why healing isn't passive. It's not sitting back and waiting for your body to get the okay just because you said I'm safe. Healing is identifying that pattern driving your symptoms, practicing the opposite of that pattern, building evidence for the new identity, and repeating it enough that your nervous system now starts to believe you. Because when your subconscious shifts from danger to I'm safe now, your biology is going to shift too. And that's when the body finally turns healing on. Secret number five, consistency matters more than perfection. One of the biggest misunderstandings about this work is the belief that you have to do it perfectly. People think if I don't catch every thought, I'm failing. If an old pattern shows up, I'm doing it wrong. If I miss a day, I've ruined my progress. If I don't respond perfectly, my body won't heal. None of that is true. Your subconscious is not judging your performance, it's tracking your repetition. Rewiring doesn't happen because you catch every single pattern. It happens because you catch it more often than you used to. If you interrupt a pattern 5% better than yesterday, that's rewiring. If you choose a new response one more time this week than last week, that's rewiring. If you reinforce the new belief once today more than what you did yesterday, that's rewiring. This work isn't about perfection, it's about direction. Every time you catch the one thought, interrupt one old pattern, make a new choice, show up one more time than before. You are sending your subconscious new evidence. And eventually that new evidence creates a really big stack. It compounds, it accumulates in the background, even on the days you feel like nothing is happening. This is why perfection is actually the thing that keeps a lot of people stuck. It's a survival pattern. Again, it's that fear of failure. If I don't do it right, then something bad's gonna happen. That pattern and that belief we need to let go of and we need to step into consistency. Your subconscious doesn't need you to be flawless, it needs you to be repetitive. And you don't need to do that 100% perfectly. You just need daily, imperfect progress. So if today you catch your pattern even once, when you used to never catch it, that's progress. Secret number six, start living now and stop waiting to be better before you live. One of the most damaging patterns people fall into is that I'll live my life when I feel better. They put everything on pause. Joy, fun, movement, hobbies, experiences, life. They wait for the right day, the symptom-free day, the better version of themselves. But this in itself is a survival pattern. Living is a healing pattern. When you put your whole life on hold, your body gets a very clear message. I'm not safe to move forward. I can't live until the danger is gone. And your body responds by staying in protection mode. Again, this is all anxiety-based. Because why would it shift into healing if you're signaling that the world is too dangerous to participate in? When you start living again, even in small, doable ways, you send the opposite message. I'm safe enough to be here. I can handle this. Life isn't a threat. And that message is actually what starts to begin turning healing on. Living doesn't mean pretending you feel amazing. It doesn't mean forcing yourself into things you're not ready for. It doesn't mean ignoring your symptoms. It means reclaiming pieces of your life. As you are right now, it means choosing one thing today that brings you joy. Doing something because you want to, not because your symptoms dictate it. Letting yourself have moments of pleasure, freedom, and normalcy. Refusing to let symptoms make every decision for you. Reminding your subconscious that life isn't dangerous. For me, this is where chickens completely changed my life. My husband bought me chickens, and I had to put my energy towards something else besides my symptoms. And I started having more joy in my life seeing these animals going out there every single day and watching them. If you got chickens, you know what I mean. For me, it was a turning point. It forced me to get out of my head, get out of the house, and actually start enjoying life a little bit. And once I was able to crack the door open with that, then I start stepping into doing other things. These tiny acts of living are not distractions from healing. They are the healing because the moment your body sees you participating in life again, it starts to update this threat response. It learns I'm not fragile, I'm not broken, life isn't dangerous, I'm allowed to live. And that is enough for your biology to start making changes. All right, last one, secret number seven. Healing happens when you stop giving power to old thoughts. Your thoughts are not the problem. The problem is that your old patterns are generating thoughts and you've been treating them like truth. Thoughts like, what if something is wrong? What if this symptom means danger? What if this never goes away? What if I can't handle this? What if I'm not doing enough? Those aren't conscious thoughts. They're automatic survival messages your subconscious has rehearsed for years. And here's the mistake people make: they follow those thoughts, they react to them, they spiral with them, they check their symptoms, they change their plans, they avoid things, they go into fixing mode. All of that, again, is telling the subconscious, yes, this thought is true, keep sending it. But to heal, we're gonna have to do the opposite. And this doesn't mean that you stop the thoughts because that's gonna be hard to do. There, it's just an automatic record that keeps on playing. You just need to stop giving it power. So leading your thoughts means noticing the old thought, not reacting to it, not treating it like a warning, not letting it dictate your behavior, and reminding your subconscious, this is the old pattern, I'm not following it. And when you tell yourself, I'm not following this anymore, and then you choose an action that matches who you're becoming, who you want to become, not who the old pattern trained you to be. This is the new identity, this is the new perception and meaning, this is the new safety signal. And your body will respond to that. When you take the lead versus jump in the rabbit hole with the old thoughts, your body is going to start feeling safe again. Healing is about choosing who you are in the presence of the old thought and teaching your subconscious day after day that you're not living from that place anymore. So those are the seven healing secrets, the ones that actually shift your body out of protection and into healing. And I'll say this clearly because I've seen it over and over. If all you did was focus on these seven secrets, you would heal. I'm that confident in them. These are the exact areas that create success for you, for your subconscious, and for every client we've ever supported. But here's the part that really does matter. You can't just hear these secrets. You have to live them, practice them, take consistent, aligned action with them. And if these seven pieces landed for you, then you're ready for the deeper work. My eight-month program is where you get the structure, the coaching, the daily rewiring, and the support to actually apply these seven secrets in your life, not just understand them. It's where you finally identify the exact patterns behind your symptoms, build safety in the subconscious, rewire your old survival beliefs, create daily consistency, stop living from fear, and step into the version of you who leads your healing. If what you heard today resonates on a deep level, the next step is to apply for the Mind Body Rewire program. You can find the link in the show notes. I'm gonna leave you with this healing doesn't happen when your symptoms stop. It happens when you stop focusing on your symptoms. Thanks for listening.
