SPEAKER_00:

Good morning everyone. It's February 11th, and I hope that your devotions the past weeks or so have been really uh helpful, um, encouraging and building you up as you're on this 21-day uh spiritual journey. And uh this morning we're gonna be in Philippians 4, 15 through 20. And in Philippians 4 15 through 20, verse 15 starts like this it says, and you Philippians yourselves know that in the beginning of the gospel, when I left Macedonia, no church entered into partnership with me in giving and receiving except you only. And this is Paul speaking, and he says, Even in Thessalonica, you sent me help for my needs, wants, and again. Not that I seek the gift, but I seek the fruit that increases to your credit. I have received full payment and more. I am well supplied, having received from Epaproditus the gifts you sent, a fragrant offering, a sacrifice acceptable and pleasing to God. Verse 19 says, And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches and glory in Christ Jesus, to our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen. Uh, to start in this devotional and to to break this down some, Paul's going and uh he's he's speaking to the the Philippi church and he's telling them in first uh 15 and 17, and he's saying that wherever I preach and wherever I've gone, you you Philippians have been the only ones to support me in giving um what I need for the ministry. Now it was this food, was this uh financials financially, but I would say for the most part, he the church was financially supporting Paul as he was journeying and going through and preaching and ministering the gospel. Um and in that Paul in verse 17, Paul shows that the Philippian church was the reason behind the purpose uh in their gift. And in 17 he says, not that I seek the gift. Paul says, I don't, I don't, I don't go around preaching and ministering the gospel because I'm seeking after a gift. Um but I what I seek is I seek that you get the fruit of the increase of your credit. Paul knew that through the church's generous giving, that there was a blessing waiting for them on the other side. And he says that he says, the fruit of your increase. So he knew that in sowing into Paul's ministry, he knew that God was gonna give them a generous gift in return. He was gonna he was gonna give them the fruit of their increase as they gave to his ministry. And so he had the confidence going around and ministering to churches, knowing that, hey, like it is good for you to give into the kingdom of God, knowing that God is going to bless you uh tremendously and increase what you have given for me in sharing the gospel. And then in verse 18, in the second part, I think there's something really key to pull out of the second part there. It talks about him receiving the gifts sent, and he says that the gifts you sent were a fragrant offering, a sacrifice acceptable and pleasing to God. Now, here Paul is he's referencing in Old Testament correlation, talking about sacrificial sacrifice when it came to uh the first fruits, that their their uh sacrifice they give back to God. And what Paul is saying here is that the sacrifice that they were giving had to be the best. It had to be pleasing unto God. And he makes a reference here to a fragrant offering. And the offering that they gave had to have a fragrant aroma that pleased God. Not only did the sacrifice need to please God, but the attitude of the heart of the people in which they gave needed to be pleasing to God as well. And it's important for us to see during this 21 days of fasting and praying and the spiritual journey that as you're sacrificing spiritually, you're saying no to the flesh during this time. And sacrificially, you are trying to draw near to God spiritually, and you're giving a spiritual sacrifice during this time. And the the thing to remember is how is my attitude going? What is my attitude like as I am forfeiting the things that my flesh so desires, and I'm spiritually drawing near to God at this time, because what we don't want to do is we don't want to lose that fragrant aroma that ultimately is pleasing unto God. To end this part this morning, Paul turns the attention back to God as the as a source for all of this. And it's and it's a huge statement for the Philippians, and he says, no matter where you feel lack, no matter where you feel lack, he says, My God, and 19, my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches and glory in Christ Jesus. And let me say that I think uh when we think about uh lack, we ult it ultimately we go back and think about my financial lack. I'm lacking in this area of my finances. I wish I had this, I need more here, and I wish this was different. But I think that for us on this journey that we're experiencing is not that God just wants to supply for us back financially with what we're giving back to God. We can have an expectation that we can give back to God. He'll press it down, give it back to us, and let it overflow into us. But in return, maybe, maybe this month of 21 days in fasting, God doesn't just want to help you financially, but I want to look at some key areas that God might be trying to supply for you just in your life and expectation you can have during this time. So maybe as you're going through this, maybe God wants to supply you with some new victories in different areas of your personal life. Maybe there's some personal struggles you're having, and maybe this 21 days is going to help break that in your personal life, or maybe even some success in your business and your ministry. Maybe this might be a launching point for your business to really take flight, or for your ministry to really flourish and establish. And even two, one of the things that we forget about that I think is one of the greater things, even financially, is maybe the spiritual anointing that wants to fall upon your life because of this time of fasting and praying and the anointing that you can walk in to help reach your friends and your family. And then lastly, maybe God's wanting to give some of you a long-term relationship that can really touch your life for years, for years to come. So, in return, in all this, no matter what God does in us and through us during this one twenty one days of uh of fasting, let's keep in mind that in ending, it's God who gets all the glory for it. And Paul says that. He says that in 20. He says, To our God and Father, be glory forever and ever. Amen.
