Veteran’s 26-year walk across America Anyone traveling U.S. Highway 43 recently may have noticed a man walking with a large sign that said, “LOVE LIFE.” Following his son’s suicide, Steve Fugate, 79, a retired U.S. Navy veteran from Vero Beach, Fla., began walking across the country with the words “LOVE LIFE” over his head.
