Driver of ATV loses control, dies in wreck

Jackson area A Leroy man was killed in a single-vehicle crash involving an all-terrain vehicle on Sept. 20, according to Alabama State Troopers. Davey D. Lankford, 54, was critically injured when the 2023 Zhejiang CF Moto Power Company ATV he was operating left the roadway and struck a telephone control box before overturning. Lankford was transported to Jackson Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, troopers said. The crash occurred at approximately 5 p.m. on Lower Ferry Road, approximately three miles south of the Jackson city limits, troopers said.
