Lots of open seats for statewide votes
Because of term limits and officials seeking a different office, many major Alabama statewide offices on the ballot this year will not feature an incumbent. The offices with open seats include governor, lieutenant governor, the U.S. Senate, attorney general, secretary of state, commissioner of agriculture and industries and state auditor. Republicans are heavily favored in state elections with no Democrats holding statewide office. The primaries are May 19 and the general election is Nov. 3. Gov.
