Mr. Barnes passed away peacefully Sunday, April 5, 2026, at his home in Millry. His legacy was marked by distinguished service in the United States Army, where he was honored with numerous awards, including the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal (3rd OLC), Good Conduct Medal (2nd Award), National Defense Service Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal with three Bronze Service Stars, NCO Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (NUM2), Army Superior Unit Award, Armed Forces Service Medal, Kuwait Liberation Medal (SA) and the NATO Medal.
