Alabama's Taylor's Law connects school discipline to receiving a learner's permit, driver's license and certain other state-issued licenses. The law applies to students who turn 13 during the school year or who are already 13. Discipline points begin accumulating at age 13 and can delay a student from obtaining a learner's permit or driver's license at ages 15, 16 and 17. Students do not receive points for the first three days of in-school suspension but points are assessed for all days of the suspension, including the first three, if an ISS goes to four days.
