Bennie Waldon Bumpers, 84, passed away on Monday, July 27, 2026. Bennie was born in Jackson, on Sept. 10, 1941, to Nathan Bumpers and May Dee Bumpers. His grandparents were Ben Courtney and Alice Courtney and Henry W. Bumpers and Minnie Bumpers. Bennie attended Jackson schools and graduated from Jackson High School in 1959. He then attended Howard College, now Samford University, graduating in 1963 with a degree in business. While there, he met Sonja Johnson, and they married on June 8, 1962.
