The Jackson Fire Department won the People’s Choice Award at the Alabama Wildlife Federation’s State Wild Game Cookoff in Millbrook on Aug. 8. The JFD team served wild turkey breast, a dish that proved popular with attendees. “They said people were coming back for seconds,” Jackson Fire Chief John Brown said. The People’s Choice Award is determined by the attendees at the state cookoff and continued a successful run for the JFD. The road to the state finals began last November in Grove Hill, where 26 teams competed for best overall dish and a chance to advance to the state...
