SPEAKER_02

What's going on? Welcome back to the show. Let me get IG up. And uh make sure y'all can hear me. You hear me on um there?

SPEAKER_01

Huh?

SPEAKER_04

It's frozen. It's frozen.

SPEAKER_01

Hold on one second.

SPEAKER_04

It might it might have been delayed. It's still going through the intro. There you go, you're live.

SPEAKER_02

Can you hear me though? Oh yeah, I can I can hear you. Oh, I can hear you. We're good. What is going on? We got a um special guest today. Uh we're gonna talk about this uh unsigned singer database. I know y'all have been seeing this on um my social media, and you probably want to know what's going on, what Texas track that got going on now, so we're gonna talk about that. So I got a guest with me in here. Uh what what's your uh what's your name, ma'am?

SPEAKER_04

Um mom.

SPEAKER_02

Mom. Is it Texas track mom?

SPEAKER_05

Oh no, no, no, no, no. I have to be original.

SPEAKER_02

Um, you know, I'm you gotta be original.

SPEAKER_05

Uh I'm just D.

SPEAKER_02

You just D.

SPEAKER_05

I'm I'm just a mom. Just a mom.

SPEAKER_02

Well, we got just a mom here. Before we get into this uh database, which um shout out to all the coaches who have um requested requested access to this database. Um, and shout out to all the uh athletes that have put their information on there. So we're around about 30 athletes already in this database, unsigned seniors. Um, and we're going into the um third day um of this database or whatnot. Let's go. But before we do, before we get into that, uh shout out to my guy, uh Coach Cal. Uh he just uh he got a book out. It's a uh prayer a prayer book uh for athletes. Uh it's called uh Built Built to Conquer, right? Um so you can get it on Amazon. I dropped a link in the uh description there. Um where else can you find this book? Amazon is in the description, so just go to Amazon. You can type in Built to Conquer. Uh it'll it'll pull up. And this is uh about by uh Coach Cal. Um and it's a dedication, you know, to his mom. But this book here, um it's a it can be a weekly prayer book book as well. You don't have to use it every week, but you can use it whenever you want. Um, it's a weekly guide uh helping athletes um stay grounded uh to enhance their performance, you know, uh through focus in spiritual themes as well. Um a little bit more about this book, then I'll get into this database in a minute here. Um do one prayer each week, uh, one prayer each week. It can help the athlete stay focused, you know, stay grounded uh throughout this throughout the season. I know uh sometimes that season it gets get kind of rough. You might need to pray a little bit about some stuff. Uh this uh book can definitely help you through it. Um you can use it, you know, just by yourself, or also you can use it as a team. I know a lot of teams pray before team, before uh meets and stuff like that. Uh y'all can uh bring out this prayer book and uh you can use that as well. And also uh um schools are able to get um I think like a group discount. Uh you you can uh contact Coach Cal for that, he'll let you know about it. Um, and like I say, this is for every level, it's not just for college kids, it's not just for high school kids, it can be youth, even professional, you know, athletes. I did give my daughter this book. Um uh she you know she's enjoyed, she enjoyed the book. Uh, she definitely used it or whatnot. What's your thoughts on a prayer book for athletes? Just a mom.

SPEAKER_05

I think it's great. Um coach Cal, you know, I like Coach Cal. Um, that's my guy. Uh I really like that he put this out for athletes. I know that a lot of athletes struggle, you know, throughout the season just with life, you know, college, all those things. So this definitely something good to check out. Hey, it it doesn't have to be a track athlete, it could be yeah, yeah, a soccer athlete, it could be a football player, yeah. You know, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

So yeah, you don't have to be just track, it could be uh you play in the sport. You don't even have to be in the sport, right? It could be anybody if you you need a prayer book, go ahead and get it. Um, because I bring a lot of athletes on this show, and um I'm I mean almost all of them do say, you know, they pray a lot, you know, uh to help them, you know, get through uh the season, you know, track and feel it can be rough, it can be rough, definitely, most definitely. It can definitely be rough. But shout out to Coach Kyle. Uh, I'll be dropping some more stuff on this book here. Maybe I can get him on the show uh to come on here and talk about the book. He's in where is double where is Champs? Arkansas?

SPEAKER_05

Yes, yeah, he's in Arkansas.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I just talked to him today. He just flew in down there. He actually he's uh uh uh coach for Georgia down there, so they down there, the dogs down there about put in some work at Champs. But y'all get that book, hit that link, um, check it out. All right. So let's get it. This is why you're here. We're gonna talk about this uh unsigned senior database. I've been working on this for a little bit. Um I've been I think it's almost what about a year, I think I've been working on this database here, but I finally got it where I want it. And um it's easy to use, it's simple, it's really simple. And what I'm doing, I'm gonna pull it up uh so y'all can see it. But y'all probably want to know. Um put this down here. Y'all probably want to know too, uh text to track that what is it? What is this database? What does it do? Right? So right now, so it's for unsigned seniors. It's pretty simple, right? Uh if you unsigned um class of 2026 uh right now, um all you have to do click that link and this form is gonna is gonna pull up, right? Hold on, let me uh put this barcode up here. QR code. You can also scan that QR code right there, and it'll get you to it. All right. So, so you're an unsigned senior, you've been looking for schools, right? Uh, this is just another tool you can use and it's free, right? It's no cost, right? Uh so all you do, you click the link uh or whatnot, or where can you find the link? You can find it on my website, right? You can find it uh in my link bios uh on my social media. Um but main place you probably want to find it, if you don't see it on X or Instagram, go to text and track that podcast.com and you'll see it right there. You can submit it uh right there on the site, actually. Um but here you wanna go here. Uh it's gonna bring you to this page here. This is the athletes part of right. So, of course, you're gonna put in your name, right? Graduation year, right? 2026, you're gonna put that in there. Uh, whatever high school you're going to, you're gonna put that in there, right? Uh city, whatever city, wherever city you're from, you wanna put that in there. And I tell all these athletes, make sure you fill in as much information as you can on this form, uh, because the more information they have, these coaches have about you, uh, the better chances they're gonna uh contact you.

SPEAKER_04

Yep.

SPEAKER_02

Uh if you um hold on, just check something. Oh, we got an error on X. If you uh if you're not putting all your information on there, if you just got half of the stuff you do and all like that, uh incomplete profile. This is basically this is basically your profile. Uh coaches might they might overlook you, they might go to the next person who got all the information on there. Uh, you can also upload um your your track videos on here as well. But let me get back to it. So we got the city, uh, whatever city um you live in, you want to put that on there as well. Um state, put that on there, height, weight, primary events, whatever your primary event is, um, you throw in there. But if you do more than one event, go ahead and put all those events in that primary spot. If you run the one, two, four hundred, uh, put that in there. You can even put four by one, four by two. If you're running all that, put that in there too, in your primary events, all right? So they can see that, so these coaches can see that you're willing to do um all those events, you know, if they uh end up recruiting you. Um Phil Event mark for the field eventers, throw that in there. Um GPA, don't skip over this, right? Don't skip over it. Whatever your GPA is right now, go ahead and throw that GPA in there. Makes no sense in skipping over it. When the coach isn't called, they they're gonna ask you that anyway. So go ahead and put in there so they can see it. Yeah, so when they uh call you, they don't have no surprises. What you think about that?

SPEAKER_05

Most definitely make sure you're transparent about it. Hey, if you have a 2.8, you have a 2.8. There's nothing wrong with that. Yeah, um, 2.5. There's nothing wrong with that. You know, everybody doesn't have a 4.0. You know, is a four 4.0 a good thing to have? Of course it is. But you do, you know, you need to be transparent and just you know, put that 2.0, 2.8 on there if you need to put that 2.5 on there. Then when you're able to get that conversation with the coach, then you're able to explain, you know, look, you know, I'm working on getting that GPA up, you know, by graduation. I plan to get that up to a 3.0, you know.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, and and yeah, and definitely work. You want to work toward it, you know. Uh put it in there, and um, then when the coaches call you, you know, they're gonna tell you, hey, we need your GPA here for you to get off get this offer or whatever. So you can tell, you know, tell the coach, hey, um, that's what I'm working on. Um, I'm I'll work on that to try to get that GPA where I need it to be.

SPEAKER_05

Right. And it were and and I say be transparent and be truthful about it because at the end of the day, they're gonna see it. Go ahead and put four-point on there, and they go in there and they see, wait a minute, this kid is a 2.8. Yeah, again, there's nothing wrong with it, but you want to be honest and truthful, you know.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. And uh, you if you put some in there that's not true, and they uh find out about it, uh, there goes your uh credit credibility, yeah. Uh with that coach and with that um school. So make sure you uh being truthful, intended major, uh, even put that in there. Um, so this is one of my favorite parts of this right here. I got a section on this database where you can actually put uh your highlight video or whatnot. Go ahead and put it in there. Just put the link and they'll be able to uh click that link and uh see some of your uh competition videos. Um let's see here. Uh Tfers profile. If you have one mouth split profile, this is pretty cool. Uh I know a lot of uh high schoolers, uh, they're not gonna have the Tfers uh profile, but um they will have a mild split profile. So go ahead and throw that milest profile on there. Uh so coaches uh they can um see that. Umcoming meets.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, upcoming meets, I think that's a good one too. You never know when a coach wants to come and pop up on you and come see you. You put that on there, hey, you might not even know the coach might be sitting right there in the stands. They just want to see what type of athlete you are.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. You put those um sorry, I was reading this uh notification on um uh Twitter right now. Um you put those links on there on the meet, they can definitely come see you um and see how you performing at those meets. So go ahead and put that on there. If you think that's gonna be a big meet, go ahead and put it on there because another thing they want to see how you're gonna perform against you know competition, right? Uh, I would say definitely put uh the most competitive meat you're gonna be competing in uh to go on there, uh, so you can show them you can uh come, you know, compete, you know, against uh, you know, elite talent or you know uh good talented players. Don't go on there. You know, this meet is is not gonna be that competitive. And you give them to give them a link to one of your big meets so they can come out there and see how you perform against some real talent. You know what I'm saying? So make sure you uh put a good meet on there. Uh telephone, make sure you put a uh good phone number on there. Uh put your number or put your parents' number on there. Um, email, put your email on there so they can have that. Then your coach's name. Uh you put your coach's name on there, um, your coach's uh contact information. You can put his phone number in his blank, he or she's phone number in his blank, or um you can put their email in there. I also seen uh somebody uh put a coach's uh their coach uh Instagram in there too, right? So what however uh they can be contacted, uh go ahead and put that in there. And once you fill in all these blanks, it's not it's really not it's really is not a lot, right? Once you get going on, you can knock it out pretty quick. Um go ahead and hit submit. So when you hit submit, it's gonna uh go to the database, right? And in that database, uh coaches have access, right? Uh so they'll be able to see everything you put in there and um uh decide on you know if they want to you know call you, recruit you or whatnot. That's why I say it's very important that you fill in everything on here. I'm telling you right now, I got coaches now. I just added four more four more coaches today, and I still got I think I got a couple more pending I need to give access to, but I got coaches in there from NAIA all the way up to D1. Um, so get your information in there. Um, if you uh hit a PR or whatnot, you can always go back in there, just fill this out again, just update uh your old numbers and submit it again. That's fine. I don't have a problem with that. Uh, if I see a duplicate entry in there, because I monitor that database, I'll just take your old entry out and leave that new entry in there. So just remember when whenever you PR, make sure you update this, right? So make sure you update it. Uh, what do you think? You think this is this is a good this is a good deal here?

SPEAKER_05

Most definitely, most definitely, it's gonna help a lot of people. Um, the big thing is it is free, no charge. Um, I do know, and it's nothing against the other places that do charge. Um, but you know, everybody don't have big bucks like that uh to pay for profiles and stuff like that. So yeah, it's it's a good deal. It's it's hard out here in these recruiting streets. Um Instagram make it seem easy. You know, you got these athletes, these high school athletes, these elite high school athletes, they make it look easy because guess what? They're elite for a reason, and yeah, they they don't have to do very much to get a coach's attention on that D1 level. But just say you're not on social media that much, or you just you're kind of late in the game trying to get your information out, it's senior year. Um, a lot of this stuff as far as reaching out to coaches, you know, you want to typically, you know, do that your junior year. But if it's senior year, you know, don't don't panic. Um, that's what this tool is for, um, to help you and your parents, uh, because your parents are stressed out. I was we well, we weren't stressed out, but I'm just saying parents get stressed out.

SPEAKER_02

I was stressed out. I don't know about don't know what you talk about. I was stressed out.

SPEAKER_05

Well, you know, I enjoyed the little process or whatever, but you know, I wasn't too stressed out because you know, we had Texas track dad, and you were pretty on it, so you know, but um definitely something you want to do if you're um a parent or an athlete that is getting in there late in the game, it's senior year. What is this? March? It's March. It's March.

SPEAKER_01

March, yeah.

SPEAKER_05

You need to have a home, you need to have a home, and so graduation is in May. I don't mean to scare nobody, but time it goes by fast. You don't have prom. Okay, you got outdoor season going on, just ramped up, right? Yep, then you're gonna have um, like I say, you're gonna have your fun stuff senior year. You you want to get all that stuff out the way, and and you know, coaches are looking, they looking, they always looking. But athletes, um you you just gotta get yourself out there, you know, um, and find you a home um that's you know the right fit for you. Make sure you do the research. Just because a coach reaches out doesn't mean you just take it because they want you. You need to uh research the school, Google it, um, you know, see what majors they have at the school, um see what the graduation rate is. Um you know, don't make it just about the don't make it just about track. You you gotta, you know, make sure that they have the classes. Um, I know a lot of kids, um they have some college credits. You wanna make sure that those college credits that you earn in high school make sure they're Transferable to go to that college. Some of them are not, especially if you like if you go out of state. You know, if you have um, if you've taken um, I think it's what college, like a Texas, I forgot what it was. Um there's like a Texas government or something. It's like college, but it's Texas government. Uh stuff like that is not gonna transfer to an out of state school. So just you know, you want to be mindful of things like that.

SPEAKER_01

But yeah, get out there, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. You're right.

SPEAKER_02

And um I don't know if I'm look like I'm lagging on IG or lost IG. I'm not sure what's going on with IG right now, but um, but yeah, yeah, that's right. Um you're unsigned. Uh, we're going into outdoor. Uh, y'all know outdoors go it's gonna go pretty fast. Um, so you want to make sure you are um doing something that can get you in a spot to go to school. Um, and like I say, it you you can't be lazy um when it comes to this recruiting stuff because because college coaches, I talk to them all the time, they get about 300 emails a day almost. You know uh schools bigger than that, they get more than that. So you're gonna have to do stuff um outside the norm, right? With just sending an email or something like that, you're gonna have to do more.

SPEAKER_04

Right.

SPEAKER_02

You know, uh, and then like I say, this is just another tool right here, and you're gonna have to be able to um basically convince a coach just by looking at that email that um he need to contact you and you know try to learn a little bit more. So that's why I say the more information you have, the more information you put in this database, um, that'll help coaches uh get to know you you little you get to know you a little bit better and have uh you know the links they need, your your mouth split, you know, stuff like that, videos that'll be on there too. So they also have that. So uh definitely use it. Uh it's gonna be up to you. And I'm telling you, them coaches in there. It's some good coaches, I'll tell you right now, it's some good coaches in there. And I had one uh I had a coach tell me today, like he told me, Texas Drake Dad, I'm um I'm touching down in Arkansas, and I'm about to go um I'm check out your your data, your database um once I get situated out here, you know, in Arkansas. So uh it's some good coaches in there. Uh on all levels, it's some good coaches in there. Because I talk to them all the time too, and um, getting contacted by uh some new coaches too, um getting to know them, getting to know them. So um, so get it in there. Um uh keep working. I know it's outdoor season, uh keep grinding on that. Uh if you have any questions about it, uh putting in your information, just hit me up, just let me know. Uh, but it's pretty simple, just go in there and knock it out, get it done. As far as the coaches, uh coaches that's watching this that got access uh to this database. What I'm gonna do, um I'm probably gonna do a zoom for y'all. Uh I'll send y'all the link and stuff once I get it set up where I can go into the database and you know, just uh uh explain some things to y'all. It it's pretty simple when you see it, but I I have no problems, you know, going over thing, going over everything in a database with y'all, you know, what y'all seeing and stuff like that. But right now, so far, so good. So from here it's gonna be like upgrades uh to this database, and it's just gonna make it um better and better. Uh, I'm pretty excited about this, you know. Now excited about it.

SPEAKER_05

Oh, yeah, I am okay. So let me just say this because you know, I said I'm just a mom, but I'm not just a mom, I'm a mom. And let me just say they need to be these young people. Make sure you respond to the coach. Don't be ghosting these coaches. These coaches, if they're reaching out to you, they took out their time, you know, of the day just to reach out because they're interested in you. Don't don't don't block your blessings. Don't don't be like, uh, I don't want to go to Wisconsin. I don't want to go to Utah. I don't want to go here. I don't want to go there because it's cold. I don't want to run in the cold. That's why you gotta do your research. Hey, don't sleep on those uh those cold states, huh? What you what you think, Tim? Yeah, yeah. Don't sleep on them. Yeah, do not sleep on the cold states.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, yeah, yeah. And it's um uh it's kind of like uh I want to say a myth. I don't know if I want to call it a myth or not about you can't run fast in the cold and you know, at um colleges, you know, uh with cold weather and all that good stuff. But I'm saying like this, it depends on the athlete at the end of the day. Uh they get up there uh get make adjustments to the weather and with the coaching, they got uh it could definitely happen. It could definitely happen. So if those schools are hitting you up, um for one, I would say go visit the school, yeah. Uh to see how the school is, yeah, go talk to the coach, go see yeah, go see what type of uh program they're running, environment, yeah, yeah. The environment, the team, uh see what they uh and you want to ask them too, uh what uh plans they have for you uh when they come in there, right? Uh, because the game to change, the game to change, and it's it's good coaches all over the place. The N A I A on up, yes. Uh they can get you where you want to be. So it's um it's coaches out there, and I just hate to see that um you know, in here that co some kids are you know um not getting calls or yeah, the parents are they don't know what to do.

SPEAKER_05

It's rough out here, it's rough, it's rough. Recruiting, like I say, I think a lot of the elite athletes they make it look easy to be able to do.

SPEAKER_02

Appreciate a JCU track.

SPEAKER_05

Go ahead, they make it look easy on Instagram, these elite athletes, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. But um, hey, we know the names, we know these top names, but guess what? You could be elite and top as well, but the coach is not gonna know about you if you're not posted on social media, so that's why the database is good for that as well. Because if you got coaches that are looking in there, you know, hey, there you go. Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's a grind too. It's it's it's a grind, just like track practice, getting out there on that recruiting stuff, you know.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, but that's well, you know, that's why I say though that um if they reach out, don't ghost them. Um, they're taking their time out, you know, um out their day, busy life of being a uh a college track coach to reach out to you for a reason. Um, they see something in you, you know. Um, if you're not interested, if you know that you've already looked up the school and you're not interested, don't waste their time. Just tell them. Tell them. There's nothing wrong with communicating, just tell them thank you for the opportunity, thank you for reaching out. But um at this time, I don't think I want to, you know, move there or whatever, where whatever it is, yeah. But that's why I say also um it's it's a family thing, so you need to talk over, talk it over with your uh parent, not your cousin. I said it's your parent, baby. Cousins don't be knowing what they're talking about, don't listen to your cousin, yeah. They just want to go to the beach, they just want to come visit you at the beach. Hey, don't get enticed by these schools at the beach, okay? It almost got me as a parent, almost got me.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_05

And there's nothing wrong again, there's nothing wrong with the colleges at the beach. I'm just saying, don't block your blessing and don't miss out on opportunities because you don't want to go to the states where you gotta step in a little bit of snow. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

So those of you who just coming in, this is just a mom, aka miss Texas track dad over here. But I I got here's a quick here's a comment we got here uh by uh Darren. I hey Darren, we appreciate this comment. He says, uh uh when you visit, uh, do not forget to sell yourself, sell yourself and and what you will bring to the team daily in you know practice and in the classroom. Most definitely. So he's saying pretty much, yeah, when you go to these uh visits, yeah, you're gonna you you gotta you gotta let them know that you valuable, like you know what I'm saying? What do you go? So when you go there, they those schools want to know what you're gonna do for us, right? We're gonna give you all this money, we're gonna give you all this money to come to the school, right?

SPEAKER_05

What are you gonna do because they have options? Don't think they don't have options, they do, yeah, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

And you need to think about what do you what will you bring to that team daily, not just one time a week daily in practice and the class. This is a good statement. What are you gonna bring to that team daily in practice and in the classroom? Because if you're not gonna do your schoolwork, what are we here for?

SPEAKER_05

What are we doing?

SPEAKER_02

Why are you there? Why are you there? You know, and and you know, when you get to that next level, them grades, you got to keep them grades up. That's just how it is. That's that that's just a part of it, you know. That's that's just a part of appreciate that comment. That's a good comment there. Uh, but yeah, you're right. That recruiting is uh it's tough. It's tough. It is definitely tough. Any more advice you have about the recruiting process?

SPEAKER_05

No, I think I think I gave enough, you know. Like I say, I'm a mom.

SPEAKER_02

What about parents? What what advice can you give to the parents?

SPEAKER_05

Be involved, be involved, be involved, be involved, make sure that you research in the schools as well. Um, because you know, young people, you know, um, you know, they do their best, they they, you know, they try their best, but we don't want to go to a college because it's popular. Okay, well, it's popular, that's fine, but what is the school gonna do for your kid? You know, you need to make sure you redirect them because sometimes that's why I said the comment about the cousins. Yeah, you don't want to be listening to everybody, you know. You know, that's their opinion about things, even if they talk bad about a school, then that might have been something that you know they experienced or a friend experienced, they don't even know the whole story, and they done talk bad about a school that you could possibly be interested in. You need to see for yourself, yeah. You need to ask your kid, you know, what do you you need to know what schools they're interested in. You know your kid better than anyone, you know if it's not a good fit. If your kid can't, um I'm just a mom. If your kid can't focus and you think they're gonna be a little wild because it is college and they're not gonna be disciplined, don't send them to know. Oh, we don't even get me started. Just you you know that what schools they can go to and what schools okay, what schools they shouldn't go to, should I say?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Like I said, I'm speaking from a mom. I'm not speaking from a professional, I'm not a podcaster, I'm not a professional. I'm speaking from being a mother and knowing your kid, yeah, and what they can and cannot handle. Do not give, do not allow them.

SPEAKER_02

Well, what if what what if uh that school is the only one giving that kid a scholarship? Well, I don't know. You better have a family meeting.

SPEAKER_05

You better have a family meeting because I'm gonna tell you what. Hey, just as fast as you get recruited, yeah, you can get yeah, hey, you're gonna be looking for a new home.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, yeah. Yeah, when the kids go off to school, it's uh it's uh added pressure to them.

SPEAKER_05

Oh, yeah, yep, yep. Yep, yeah. And D1, I mean that that that sounds real nice. There's nothing wrong with D2, you know, there's nothing wrong with D3. If that's what fits you, then yeah, you see all these fast. Do you see all these fast athletes coming from D2? Come on now. Yeah, if y'all D3, all these schools, like they fast.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, if y'all ever been paying attention, yeah. A lot of those sprinters, those top sprinters now, especially in college. Uh they come from D2 program.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

And um, they making waves now, so it's possible. It's possible. Don't be afraid to go to a D2 school. That's right. For sure.

SPEAKER_04

You can run a fast anywhere.

SPEAKER_02

You know, it's um, I mean, everybody's journey is different.

SPEAKER_04

Everybody's journeying.

SPEAKER_02

You know, everybody's journey, you know, um, is different, you know. It just got to follow yours, can't get caught behind, you know, caught up in what everybody else got going on.

SPEAKER_05

That's the main thing.

SPEAKER_02

JCU track, I appreciate that. You can't get it, you know, caught up in everybody else's stuff. So um just got to keep on trucking, you know, and don't give up, don't give up on uh your dreams, you know, uh, because anything's possible as long as you uh keep at it and be consistent. That's the point. That's what you gotta be because motivation is not gonna come every day. You can't be motivated every day, but you can be consistent every day, right? You might not feel like working out every morning, yeah, but you still get up and fight through it. You consistent, you know. So just focus on that, focus on execution too. So um that that definitely uh would get you going in the right place. Um what else you got? I think that was it.

SPEAKER_05

That was the main thing. Making sure the parents are involved. You need to ask what schools are they interested in, making sure they stay on top of it. Um, because they think that you know they got I appreciate it. You think you have time, but it's March. And like I say, I don't want to scare nobody, but you gotta get the movie.

SPEAKER_02

So so it's March. Yeah, March, April, May, June. When is J O?

SPEAKER_05

Uh people get recruited it over the summer, don't they?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, when they go to um AAU and that's why I asked when J O'S A T F J O's is in August, right?

SPEAKER_05

No, it's in July, I thought.

SPEAKER_02

July. So we've been out of your track by two years. We yeah, we'd have forgotten everything. I think it's I thought it was late August. I thought it was I just no, yeah, yeah, July, right? Oh no, but but those kids uh they still can get recruited um around JO's time and stuff like that, I believe.

SPEAKER_05

So I just know that that time when you're a junior is a good time to show what you got, is when you're a junior and you attend those summer track, those uh competitive meets, uh, because you're running against kids from all over.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Um, they like that. They come to those, they're there, they're in the stands, they're looking, they're watching.

SPEAKER_02

I would say that yo, I would say your junior year is the most important year, yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Out of all four years, so you can just have fun running a senior year, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

I would say your junior year is the most important. Um, you know, to get recruited, and your senior year, you still running, but you having fun running, you know. Yeah, uh, that's that's the way I look at it. You know, your senior year, you should be having fun. Um, some athletes still run, some seniors still run, some in track after they sign, they still run. I mean, which the school is up to them, and some don't, and some don't. And that I would say if you sign with a school, I'm glad I brought this up.

SPEAKER_05

I know what you were about to say.

SPEAKER_02

I would say if you sign with a school and it's time for summer track, I would say reach out to that school, that's right. Reach out to that coach, be like, hey, um, do you want my kid the parents and athletes as a parent? Hey, do you want my kid to run summer track? I know they they go be up there in August, right? Do you want them to run summer track, right? Because think about it, if JO's is in July, it's like late July, right? I think JO's is late July.

SPEAKER_05

Yep, and you gotta and you gotta be at school, you gotta report to college early for track, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, so once they um finish with JOs, they off to school early August, and that's what you gotta be mindful of. They off school early August, lessons learned, be we parents, and it and it's like if they not uh don't think they go on the school and they gonna be laying around that well, they when they hit that campus, they gonna be immediately stressed out by what's going on around, yeah. Yeah, you know, with uh the work, you know, college coaches tell them you probably have three meetings the first day there. It it's bananas, you know. Uh oh, we gotta come in on IG. Uh Mr. 512 says uh junior year definitely is the most important. Uh you don't want the stress uh of a unsigned, you don't want the stress of an unsigned senior chasing times to get signed. Hey, that's yep, hey, that's that's that's right. Yep, that's that's exactly right. Your senior year, you don't want to be worried about you know, yeah, you know, getting getting signed and getting stressed out, you stressed out, your parents stressed out, your coach, you know, it's it's yeah, it's it's rough. That's why I say uh that that junior year, you should really focus that junior year, and um you should have a good idea um of your uh your your college, at least your top five college choices by the end of your by the end of your junior year, wait, wait, early senior year. I would say early senior year.

SPEAKER_05

I'm trying to remember. Okay, so I think that junior year though is when you go on your visits, right?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_05

But it's junior year visits start when I forgot. I don't know, it's like it's in the past. Junior is junior year, and I want to say, okay, because sign-in day is November. So I want to say it's really like September and stuff because remember, college coaches invite you to games during the recruit, you know, depending on the school, you know, you may go to a football game, a volleyball game, whatever is in season. Um, so you need to be as a parent, just keep that in mind. Everyone can't everyone can't go to the recruiting. Um, if you have someone really close uh or split it, if it's mom and dad, if the mom can only go, uh that's what you need to do. Really, the mom, the parent need to go. But hey, Uncle Jimmy, he's available, and you need an adult with that kid. Do not let the kid go on the recruiting visit by themselves because you know, you know, they they're just they're just making decisions based off of, you know, I don't know what they're making. They're young. I guess that's all I can say is they're young. Um is not to say anything bad about coaches, but you need to be there to, you know, your child gonna come back signed, and you're gonna be like, sign, don't you have like two or three more business to do? So I think it's important, that's why I say it's important to communicate, um, letting them know don't sign verbally and don't sign the paper if you're not there and if you don't feel confident. Now, if you both are confident as the parent and the athlete, go ahead. But I'm just letting you know, don't sleep on your other visits because that might be the one.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_05

I love hey, hey, I'm not gonna speak too much on it because you know who my favorite school is. But I'm just saying we had other visits, yeah. Shout out to those coaches. Yeah, it was hard. I liked every coach we visited, yeah, yeah, yeah. If you had to talk me down, you was like, wait a minute, we still got visits.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_05

We was fortunate to um um visit some good schools with some good coaches, yes, very good coaches, good people, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

And uh those those those coaches, um, they they really are passionate about what they do, and um they they some definitely good people. And uh yeah, hey, tell your kids too, don't sign no documents.

SPEAKER_05

Don't sign no documents, maybe they will sign you your kid will come back and you be like, okay, so we we going where we going next week? We going uh um Philly, where we going? We going to New York, where we going? Yeah, where we going? Yeah, oh well mom, I forgot to tell you. Um, yeah, I signed.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, you yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. That's it. Yeah, them coaches, they'll send those. Uh they could send those uh uh documents too, you know, to the emails and stuff. And and it's nothing wrong with it, you know. Nothing wrong with uh just uh make sure you talk to your athlete, like hey, we got to review this, yes, and we got if this where you want to go, uh go ahead and do that.

SPEAKER_05

Because I'ma tell you, I don't think people read those documents. I'm not gonna get into it. That's a I'm not gonna I'm not gonna get into it because that's another show. It's a lot, but once you sign it, you gotta be careful because you pretty much cannot be talking to another college, yeah. Like that's against the rules. You need to better read that paperwork, yeah. Yeah, and I know a lot of people may not be reading uh everything document.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, parents, when you um missing the one thing going when you uh get those um um letter of intent. Yeah, when you get those letters, when you're when y'all get that paperwork, when it's time for your kid to sign, you uh you need to sit down, right, and read every single word on that paper. It's time consuming, it's boring, but you're gonna have to read every single word on that paper before your kids sign. Because if you don't read everything on there, and you sign that, yep, right, then something happened, and the coach like, hey, it was in the paperwork, you signed it, it's on you.

SPEAKER_05

Well, the main thing is you're locked in, so you sign that paper, and guess what? Coach such and such that you were just texting and talking to the other day, and said that you are very interested in coming to their college and you can't wait to see them. Oh, but your kid already signed and you've already decided to go to ex-college prior to that. Okay, you got to cut that communication off. You can no longer communicate with that other now. I don't, you know, like I said, I didn't know any of this stuff. I read the document. You know, I'm big on contracts. I read it, and I was like, oh, okay. And then guess what? Don't assume that your kid knows they're not supposed to do that because they're young. I mean, as a young person, I wouldn't know that. I wouldn't, I wouldn't know with my little young brain that I just signed with this coach, but the other coach I was talking to, he just texts me and he's asking me questions and all of these things. I didn't know that I can't talk to this other coach any longer. Because at the at this point, what what do you need to talk to him about? Because you've already made your decision.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, true.

SPEAKER_05

But like I said, they're young and they may not know this. And coaches are nice, like they're cool. So you're just innocently still talking to this coach, and you know, they asking you about grades, high school going. Meanwhile, you just you've signed the paper, you're wasting their time, you're wasting your time, and you're messing, you know, you're fooling with that contract, so the terms of the contract. So coaches don't want to get in trouble at the end of the day. So and you don't want to get in trouble.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, that's true. That that that's a fact. That's a fact. We got a question here, um, uh from Egypt's dad, uh, which his daughter is an amazing jumper.

SPEAKER_05

I don't know that name, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Um, I think she just jumped to 40 and triple jump not too long ago. Um, so it says, uh, what were your top three uh factors when your daughter was taking her to college?

SPEAKER_05

Safety.

SPEAKER_02

Safety was one, yeah. Um let's see. I would say kind of she wanted a team that felt like it was like family oriented, and um I know no team is perfect, but I think she was looking for a smaller team with kind of like a family vibe to it. You know? Um what you think the third one was?

SPEAKER_05

Oh, it's for me, uh it's like more than three, but well, of course, education. You get five. Of course, education.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, education. Yeah, education was the top, uh, which was what which blew my mind when we went down there.

SPEAKER_05

Oh, because I was let me let me give a quick shout out to the advisory team at Indiana. Man, I forgot the lady's name.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, but yeah, they owned it.

SPEAKER_05

She really impressed me. Like, um, she, you know, because you know, of course, you know, I went there and was at the meeting, the advisory meeting for when she was decided telling the advisor what um what she wanted to study, you know, what she wanted to major in.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_05

And she broke it down, like as far as like, okay, so you want to be um let's just say a nurse. Well, what kind of nurse do you want to be? There's so many nurses, there's so many fields, and just there's so many fields in what exercise science. Yeah, she broke it down to say, guess what? If you're not strong in math, look at these avenues. If you're not strong in this, look at these avenues. I hey, I was learning stuff. I was like, Let me can I yeah, because I mean she was really good, and I was really impressed just by that. And we weren't even talking about sports attract, I was impressed by the academic advisors and how much time they took on helping choose the and you know, of course, you're choosing it for now. Um, your kid could change their mind. And now, when I say that, you do know. Um, I don't know if you know, but there are schools that once you make a decision on the major when you first um go for the visit and you say this is my major, did you know that you can't change it? I think I heard change it until I know which schools I'm not gonna say it on here.

SPEAKER_02

I think I heard it.

SPEAKER_05

I forgot you can change it, but that with every school though, no, no, it was just this it the school I know about that happened to someone. Yeah, it's like you you have to um it's a Texas school too, but you pretty much have to stay with that uh degree.

SPEAKER_02

So we gatekeeping over here, yeah.

SPEAKER_05

We gatekeeping. I mean, I don't want to call nobody out. I don't want to call because this is a top school, it's a top, top school. Hey, if you don't ask your questions, you're not gonna tell. I'm not gonna know what school no like, but you gotta do your. I mean, if that kid gonna go to that school, then make maybe they change. I'm gonna have to Google it.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, yeah, yeah. So um, that's what about four. I think um the coaches. I think, yeah, I was just about to say the coaches. That's important.

SPEAKER_05

You need to know what type of coach you deal with. Yeah, you're a you don't even need to be a part of that almost. Your kid knows, yeah. Do they want to be yelled at and pushed? Like when I say yeah, I don't even mean I don't mean to say yeah, more aggressive style, more aggressive, yeah, yeah. Um, you need to know that coaching style because I've seen some stuff, and I'm just like, whoa, I don't think that would have fit.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, no, I'm glad, yeah. I'm glad you brought that up. I'm glad you brought that up because I know some parents on here. Yeah, when y'all go to these schools, y'all need to know what the coaching uh what the coaching style is because like when you there, when you on a visit, everybody's gonna be nice, yeah. Everybody nice man, smiling, everybody, yeah, everybody coaches gonna be doing all this, you know. And once y'all leave and that athlete come in, it's a day, it's different. It is different. You'll they go learn real quick how that coach operates. So, one of the questions you can ask uh on those visits uh will be uh what's your coaching style? You know, how do you coach? And even uh that athlete can ask um athletes that's you know that already that's already there, um how's what's the coaching style? Yeah, yeah, and the athlete because if your kid doesn't uh because you you're gonna know your kid um better than anybody, better than the coaches, everybody, right? So if your kid doesn't respond well to coaches yelling at them at practice all the time, I don't know about the yell work though, because I think all coaches yell.

SPEAKER_05

I think we I'm gonna say yeah now. I'm gonna say yeah, I'm gonna say I'm gonna say be more aggressive, like I don't know, a little bit a little bit of cussing, uh just a little bit more aggressive. I'm gonna say yeah, coaches yes. I'm gonna say they use a little bit more.

SPEAKER_02

So no, okay. Let's say we we'll say the most aggressive, they have an aggressive style of coaching if your athlete is not used to that, or if they don't respond, yeah, or if they don't respond to that, you might not want to send your kid there, right?

SPEAKER_05

Right, because they're gonna think they're mean.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, you want to kind of find uh, you know, every coach is different, every coaching style is different, but you kind of want to get close to something they're uh used to, yeah. Um, but not saying they have to be completely like their yeah, uh old coach or whatever, but definitely uh the coaching style needs to be similar. We can say that it needs to be kind of similar, you know. Yeah, uh, so just be mindful of that. Um, Mr. 512 said dev should should give the school's name. That's so wow. Yeah, we want the name of the school uh that's one like who else wants to know the school.

SPEAKER_05

Well, okay. No, it's not that it's a sequel, you know. Don't say it. It's a Texas school, it's a it's a it's a top know the coach, it's a top.

SPEAKER_02

Don't know the coach.

SPEAKER_05

No, but we'll start with. Don't say one of my two favorite athletes. I love, of course, my daughter is my number one, I'm her number one fan. And um, no, I am, but um I have athletes that I really enjoy watching, even it that go to another college. I really enjoy them, and one of them, can I say her name? No, I'm not gonna say your name.

SPEAKER_02

Hey, Mr. Five 12, she over here being a little messy, yeah.

SPEAKER_05

No, no, I love I love seeing it's a lot of athletes that I followed since high school that are in the they run against my daughter, yeah, yeah, yeah. But I they were great athletes. I mean, what one am I hate on them for?

SPEAKER_02

I thought you were talking about uh the uh thing with the school.

SPEAKER_05

I am thinking I am talking about it, but one of my favorite athletes is at the school, and that's how I want to get a praise with I bet I can't. One of my favorite, but you told me about her. I didn't know nothing about her, and then she went to that school and blew up. She's been PR.

SPEAKER_02

How long she been there?

SPEAKER_05

Oh, you know who it is.

SPEAKER_02

What a name so with C and we know her parents. Uh, I know you're talking about.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, that I bet that's what do that, but I I don't want to be. I'm not a hundred percent. Hey, Google it. I I'm not a hundred. My father's dead. Yeah, I know exactly. I'm not a hundred percent sure. I just remember seeing that.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, she about to go off in August.

SPEAKER_05

Oh, yeah, I hope so.

SPEAKER_02

Hey, y'all watching uh um champs this weekend.

SPEAKER_05

Hey, she you know what that young lady you 512 try.

SPEAKER_02

He said, What's the colors of don't let her hey 512? Don't let her suck you in, man. She try to she try to be a little messy on the show.

SPEAKER_05

We'll we'll it's not it's not me and Messy. I don't want to give out misinformation. What if I say that about the college and then everybody be like, oh man, they nah it's not them. Don't say don't don't say nursing.

SPEAKER_02

No, it's not TC.

SPEAKER_05

I mean, don't don't I don't want you know, I don't want people to be scared. You can change it. I think you can't change it the first year, I think you're locked in the first year.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, so what we're talking about, it's a school uh that if you pick your major, so if you pick it your freshman year, right?

SPEAKER_05

That's what you're going with, right? But I don't know when you can change it. I forgot. That's what I'm saying. We need the research.

SPEAKER_02

So with that said, we all check me. Yeah, with that said, with that said, when y'all go on these visits, uh, just make sure y'all talk to the academic uh, you know, advisors and stuff and and see um uh can majors be changed and you know all that type of stuff. So yeah, cool. What else you got?

SPEAKER_05

Oh nothing.

SPEAKER_02

I want to say the athlete name so bad, but no, no, we're not gonna say that.

SPEAKER_05

So she but I mean, but hey, she hey people be sleeping on her and she just be, you know.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, she's a true she just be chilling.

SPEAKER_05

She came, you know, she came to the scene. What she is this her senior year? She she has done well her uh the whole time she's been at that school.

SPEAKER_03

I think she and um her parents is she a dream?

SPEAKER_05

I don't know, but we met her parents. Her parents are amazing people. I think she's uh she's a reflection of her parents, you can tell.

SPEAKER_02

And she is just like she a beast, she'll be and she she just be so quiet. Don't ever hear money.

SPEAKER_05

She be on that that tick tock though.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, she does, yeah.

SPEAKER_05

She's funny.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, all right. So and we over here being we over me just a mob in 512. We over here trying to figure some stuff out over here. Uh so yeah, so guys, look that database. Um you can go to my website, uh text attract that uh podcast.com. You can find it on there. Uh you can scan this up cure QR code uh on the screen. Uh that'll take you um that'll take you there too. Uh for the athletes, right? You put in your information, uh, it'll get in, and it goes to the uh uh my database where coaches have access and they are actively um on there looking at you know uh the unsigned seniors that comes in there. So uh it's a good talk. Um have fun, right? We got to bring you back and actually yeah, bring me back. We need to actually be on the screen next time. Yeah, I'm not putting it. We'll we'll get on the screen next time. I this is just a trail where I gotta get my my hair done.

SPEAKER_05

Maybe I'll get some DM requests, but yeah. Yeah, DM Texas Track Dad, if you want to see me back on the show, yeah, but then he talks some truth.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, but we've been through the recruiting process as parents, so we know it can be stressful. Uh it it could be tough on the parents, it could be tough on athletes. Um, so you know, we try to come on here and uh give our insight about some stuff. And I myself, as Sex Attract Dad, I try to you know provide some resources to help y'all out. Uh, the athletes that parents. Oh, I gotta shout out my sponsor there, wear bands. I gotta shout them out, never forget them. Uh big supporter of my show. Uh, that's my guy there. If y'all looking for some wear bands, um go hit them up on IG. Uh, if you're looking to build some uh speed strength, uh holler at my guy over there. IG, y'all been lit today. Uh over here. Um, my ex folks, uh, I don't know what happened. They probably I don't think they got the feed this this go around, so I'll get this show over to X uh soon. But y'all got any questions about this database? Uh hit me up and coaches, uh be on the lookout um for the Zoom link. Uh I'll put something to get together so I can bring y'all in and show y'all the actual. Well, y'all already see the database, but kind of explain it a little bit. Uh especially when I have upgrades on there. Uh, I'll do those zooms for y'all so y'all can uh see how it works. And coaches, if y'all see something, y'all want to add it to this database, hit me up. Um, I'll look at it uh if I can get it on there, if it's gonna um increase the chances of this these kids getting recruited. Uh I definitely put it on there, but it needs to be beneficial to the kids, you know. Um, because that's the ultimate goal to get these kids in college. So shout out to y'all. Go hit that like, follow uh IG, Instagram, LinkedIn, uh, every social media platform, put in text attract that. I should be there. Um, if not, let me know so I can get on it. Um, also, last shout out to my guy here, Coach Kyle. Uh, y'all go check out this book, Built to Conquer. I also got that link in the uh description. This is a prayer book, prayer book for um athletes. Y'all check it out and um get that to your athletes too. Right. So we out. Appreciate it. 512. We holler at you. We catch y'all later. Peace.
