Welcome to another episode of Rough Talk VR, a weekly podcast with in-depth game reviews, exclusive developer interviews, and the latest MetaQuest and virtual reality news. We join our hosts, the Father Son team of D Scruffles and Stratus, today, as they spend another episode breaking down and discussing the world of virtual reality.

SPEAKER_00

Hey, welcome to this episode of Rough Talk VR, coming at you off the back of what I thought was a great Rough Talk VR gaming showcase. It was a lot of fun this one. A lot of good trailers, good pacing. I liked it. And I'm biased, but I liked it. Right now, going on upload VR and road to VR and you know picking out the news pieces for today. Pretty much the entire homepage of Upload VR is our showcase. That's like all the news to talk about today.

SPEAKER_01

Well, even news withstanding. That was my intent, anyways, for today.

SPEAKER_00

So it just worked out well. Yeah, it's it's cool. I think this is the most coverage we've gotten from a showcase before. And again, it's pretty trippy to go to upload and all the news articles be about what we put together. So yeah, it's gonna dominate the news today. In fact, that is the only thing on our list of news, like I said, is things from the showcase.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, we could throw in some non-related stuff. It's not necessarily the best news, but I mean Meta had some layouts.

SPEAKER_00

Layoffs had 10% more layoffs. It was pretty ruthless. I don't want to ignore that. It was pretty ruthless as well, too. Well, ruthless is you start looking back a year ago to today, those numbers start adding up. Yeah, 10% here, 10% there. And did you listen to the to the what was conference call or yeah? It was pretty pretty brutal. Zuck was like, you know, sorry about everyone that went, but you know, for those of you that are remaining, they're they have to download pretty much a keystroke or a training AI onto their computer, yeah. That's gonna track all of everything they do and help train AI model. So basically, training your job, you're training your boss. Yes, the ones that remained are training their replacement, you know. That's what you gotta be thinking. If if you you stayed, that just means that they can't automate your job yet, but you know, it's common. They're training you training the thing that's gonna replace you. It's quite ruthless. Uh you know, AI's always like people have said it for years as the technology even started to come out that like AI is gonna be a job displacer. But I feel like Meta's embracing that that line. Like, dude, it they're trying to speed run it.

SPEAKER_01

Even goes deeper now. I read a really nice article from college grad who four years ago went to school to be a computer engineer where chat was just in it was in the closet, it wasn't even out in the wild. Four years later, they graduate, and now they can't find nothing relatable to their career path. Where four years ago it was sellable. Like, yeah, man. So in that, even in that four-year window, I mean shit, we've been hearing people saying forever that like look, AI's gonna come, it's gonna take jobs, it's gonna take jobs, it's gonna take jobs. We just we all kind of I think didn't understand the expediated process in which we would see that. Well, I think on the down low people thought, yeah, you know, I'm sure it will eventually. You know, come on, man. Or maybe that job, but not mine. We got we got airlines now that have policies in writing about bringing in robot devices because someone did. They even got the lithium batteries for flight, and they were like, Yeah, you can't bring a robot onto a fucking airplane like that. You know your mind. So, yeah, we're writing policies now for robots on the aircraft, how they can, you know. So, dude, it's just ruthless that I don't know. I mean, I don't know what what do you say to somebody that's like graduating high school today? AI is not gonna take you know what AI is not gonna do, it's not gonna be building houses.

SPEAKER_00

I was gonna say trades, you know, not to be that guy.

SPEAKER_01

AI can architect a house. I'll tell you that right now. If you're an architect, it ain't hanging up sheetrock, I'll tell you that much. Correct, it ain't painting, correct, and the amount of upfront cost you would need for like a robot to do it, you're doing commercial properties, you're not touching residential. So the the moral of the story, dude, even trash collectors aren't safe from this. No, that that's gonna be automated a million percent.

SPEAKER_00

As much as AI can displace jobs, it hits a whole new level when we catch up with robotics as well, too. Yeah, like when you combine those two because what can AI not do is is labor. But once robotics hit that point that the lay labor integrated AI, that's you know, automotive world, it's a real thing. Yeah, and I again I I really feel like meta speed running the how fast can we get this to displace jobs? It's like they're embracing it, they're trying to do it as fast as possible, it feels like.

SPEAKER_01

No, they're just showing us how it's being done. This is the reality, folks. This is one company, and and when 70,000 employees, well, much less now. When Spirit went under and it was 17,000 employees that were let go. I was like, look, when meta lets people go, they're literally letting a corporation amount of human beings into the workforce. And I'm what do you even say to those numbers? Like, hey, you're all gonna find something. No, no, the the math doesn't math. It's just it's a really kind of weird, shitty situation for a lot of these folks. I mean, what are you legit going to do? The biggest players you think you look at the list of companies, it's longer than meta, you know. We can say meta, but it's it's a whole handful of these tech companies that have done this recently, and they all kind of piggyback when one does it. Well, fuck you, I can do it now too. And for the same reasons, we're putting all those resources in AI, and honestly, AI can do your job better than you can, and it does it in a fraction of the time.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, last year's a hard argument, bro. Block, the company formerly known as Square, they uh they laid off half their employees last year. Money's flowing in too, right? Yeah, well, that's the thing. These companies aren't hitting like profit losses, they're gonna be able to get it. This is where it gets weird.

SPEAKER_01

When you look at the salaries, and then you know, I'm a believer of hey, you make your money, you should be able to keep your money. But now that we're letting computers now take human beings' jobs who now can't make money, I'm starting to question whether the person on top should have the rights to that big bundle of fucking Scrooge McDuck gold.

SPEAKER_00

You dig what I'm saying? Things are about to get really weird in the next 10 years. Yeah, I mean, how does it become even fucking fair? Well, there's a trickle effect too of like if nobody's making money, eventually you're not gonna make money. Like, people have to spend money to make money. But if people aren't making money and spending money, nobody's gonna be making money. Well, according to Elon, like Yeah, he always preaches the universal basic income. There's gonna be no need. No, I think he says universal high income. You won't even need money. It's not a matter of if you want to work, work for a hobby, but well, the the argument Elon's always made is that AI will generate so much money that you'll be able to afford to give citizens a UBI, universal basic income.

SPEAKER_01

Man's on paper to be a trillionaire. He could give more than enough to every single human being in this country. It's not even funny, dude. Man, yeah. No, it's so it's it's got me in a weird ethical dilemma of like when I look at the amounts of money that the companies make, but they're the chopping they're doing and they're making even more money because of it, regardless of the investments. It it becomes strange that. So let me get this straight. You 12 people are billionaires because of what?

SPEAKER_00

And what's your achievement now? And things are getting weird, like between this, and then there's a lot of push in the United States right now to move us off of Fiat currency and onto blockchain as well. Too things are getting weird. The next 10 years are gonna be really fucking weird.

SPEAKER_01

But if at the end of the result, hey, if in 2035 it's like, hey Bri, go get your food, man. It's free. That that remember, remember when we used to buy shit? Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Abundance for the world. It's gonna be really weird to see where things go. And unfortunately, usually changes don't happen until things get really fucking bad.

SPEAKER_01

Wait until they're dude, wait until these AIs are run into management positions, which is my understanding is the route they're taking.

SPEAKER_00

Well, I see the way YouTube YouTube bans channels and demonetizes them with their AI. I don't have the most faith right now, and it may be negotiables too. Yeah, you can scream help if you want, but AI doesn't care about you and your voice. Wait till the first time, because it's all numbers to AI, like it, you know, that's why it always goes to nuclear war and war simulations. Wait till the first time somebody asks for a day off so they can go to their their kids' play or their kids' playoff basketball game, and AI is like, nah, you know how much we're gonna lose for you taking that day off? No human, no human side to it at all.

SPEAKER_01

I believe on paper, like if you had to document humanity on paper and go present it to a foreign entity, it's not pretty. All right, when you're being truthful, like hey, it's all kumbaya. It's like, nah. We fight amongst our own internal borders, and we uh we just nobody gets along with anybody. People are overly fucking sensitive, people are undersensitive, people are over here.

SPEAKER_00

They throw away half half their food, over here there is no food, right? You know, these people don't have water, these people flush their toilets twice.

SPEAKER_01

Just for the fuck of it. Why not? My pipes leak, I just let it go. You know, it's like that's the so on paper. To me, if I were a computer, I'd be like, meh, meh, cancer, cancer, cancer, abort, abort, quick, because you'd be like, these people have no, they can't even take care of themselves, let alone I'm expected them to take care of me, the mighty AI. Yeah, no, I think we're fucked, dude.

SPEAKER_00

I think we're hitting a point where the next, you know, the next 10 years are gonna get like fast too. It's gonna snowball.

SPEAKER_01

Well, yeah, we've this past year, 365 days, four years, college grads. I got me a great job in four years. I got uh how do you want that cap? You want mocha or cinnamon? You know, I mean that's just the reality. That's right now.

SPEAKER_00

Hey, and we s we played um oh my goodness, I'm Stellar Cafe. Yeah, remember that robot making that cappuccino uh latte? Things are you know, that's gonna be the ingredients. It's gonna be the oh you could you could robot a fucking coffee worker all day, every day.

SPEAKER_01

If you look at the best, I've been going down a cappuccino machine fucking rabbit hole. The best machines are the most automated machines. Hmm. Less room for human error. Yeah. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. The only thing that can fuck up this cappuccino is you. You would think the best cappuccino machine would be like a French press style $39. No, no, no, no, no, no, no. Spend $600 to $1,000 on a machine that's like it's perfect. So don't, you know. That's funny.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah. Well, that part's funny, but the the rest of it not so much.

SPEAKER_01

But no, no, no, it sucks. We're watching this.

SPEAKER_00

A lot of people are still gonna have their heads in the sand about it as well, too, despite their writing very clearly being on the wall of where this is going.

SPEAKER_01

I also read that to people in the tech industry, regardless of the company they work for Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, if you mention those names, cause anxiety. Like it's a real thing.

SPEAKER_02

Jesus Christ.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, just by the mention of their names, like people like ah go hug their boss and shit. I was like, man, people are it's yeah, weird times.

SPEAKER_00

I was I was listening to Mark Andreessen from uh A24Z on uh on Rogan last week, and he was trying to say, like, because he's building data centers and stuff, and you know, very controversial subject right now, data centers. The water, dude. And he's like, the amount of jobs that AI is gonna create Rogan's like, that's not what I've heard. For who? What jobs? What are you talking about? Yeah, that is a flip, that's a flip side. Oh, well, actually, they might have been listening to a clip of somebody debating.

SPEAKER_01

Or they're talking about the contractors that build the data centers.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, after that, yeah, or the plumbers that got in contract fucking pipes pouring water. Dude, some data center, I don't really know whose fault it is, but it's comedy at a level that it shouldn't be because people are suffering. People go to take their shower one day, their water pressures like fucking drip low. They're like, what's going on? They're like, dude, our reservoir's drained. So a data center had tapped into the reservoir, but nobody had tied in the meter. Oh, Jesus. Nobody really knew what was going on and how much was being used. Like a straw. So by the time that it uh it was figured out, it damage was already done. I mean, I'm sure they can reflood in a lot of cases and such like that, but still, man, that's just one data center.

SPEAKER_00

And if that water is being used to cool the data center, how confident are we that our current filtration systems are going to properly clean out everything that's being pulled out of the materials that it's washing?

SPEAKER_01

You can't trust most laundry mat. They you look at the environmental surveys for the earth, it's like, nah, bro, you gotta dig up all that dirt and heart. No.

SPEAKER_00

And dude, I'm not usually this guy either. No, that's not I'm the last guy. But I'm like the writing's a little bit on the wall of where this is going.

SPEAKER_01

I'm not wearing the hat, but the tinfoil came out, man. It's out.

SPEAKER_00

Look, I might not have been the first one to scream about this stuff, but I'm sure as hell not gonna wait till it's the end to scream about it either.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, no, I'm gonna go down swinging.

SPEAKER_00

It's pretty clear where things are going. Pretty clear where things are going. Just remember, I said please and thank you in my prompts. You did, but they they say not to fucking you're costing us millions of dollars. I don't do it as separate messages. It's a bottle of water. I don't do it as separate messages, separate prompts. I add it at the end of my prompt.

SPEAKER_01

We're seeing AI. Thank you, little buddy. Yeah, I'm fucking pretty point blank to it, so it thinks I'm machine. It's like we we're keeping this guy around another day.

SPEAKER_00

He speaks our language. Do you want to talk for a second? And then we will we'll get to the news. We're getting a little sidetracked. Do you want to talk about what Chat GPT will no longer help you do these days?

SPEAKER_01

Oh, yeah, man.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, yeah, sure. I'll put it out there. What it used to do last.

SPEAKER_01

Not that we're not international, but this is Massachusetts. I'm not going to. Yeah, no, it's legal to grow cannabis in in our state. So I try to be a law-abiding citizen. And if the law says you should do this, that's what I do.

SPEAKER_00

It doesn't say you should, it says you can. Well, I interpret it. If you're not growing 12 plants, we come and check.

SPEAKER_01

You're breaking the law. We come and check. There needs to be six per person, 12 per household. So I do my part, help the environment, putting oxygen in here, you know. So, anyways, I I had used chat for some outdoor shit last year just to to mess around with it. And I was like, I'll lead it up to chat because I didn't care. You know, it was an expert, right? Oh man, it nailed it, it adjusted ratios for for my nutrients. I was like, all right, I kind of like what it's doing. I'm like, cool.

SPEAKER_00

So told you what problems might be if you said, Hey, what's going on here? What's the cost?

SPEAKER_01

It's like, no, no worries, bro. You got this six, seven days, you're gonna look golden. So I figured I would experiment this year and I would do an AI grow. I'm like, I'll just turn it over to the AI, and then it tells me it can't. And I'm like, what do you mean you can't? It's like, well, that's not legal. I'm like, the hell it's not. I'm like, I live in Massachusetts, it's very legal, it's the law, and it's like, not for me, it's not, and I'm like, well, I figured I'd throw it a hypothetical. Like hypothetically, if this was well, if it was, and like as I'm typing it, it tells me it can't do hype, it's like I can't even do a hypothetical.

SPEAKER_00

I'm like, you motherfucker. I think you weren't you asking questions, and it goes, but before I continue, I have to say this looks like a cannabis plant.

SPEAKER_01

If this is in fact, I'm not gonna get it. This isn't a tomato plant or anything, yeah. And it's like you obviously I you could say it's a tomato, it'd be like, oh well, based on that. But it's gonna start to give you wrong info. Yeah, the nutrient system's gonna be a little fucked up. But what's even weirder is one of the providers of lights and equipment, yada yada, now has a AI camera for your your grow tents that will 24-hour monitor, and it uses its own. So I'm starting to wonder if maybe there was some copyright or they bought that particular because it's using it exclusive. It'll warn, it'll say, like, yay, I saw something you're not gonna see for three days.

SPEAKER_00

That's pretty impressive. Take a hundred thousand jobs and it can't even help you grow your plant, right? What the hell, man? Dude, it's fucked up. But I mean, for outdoor stuff, right on the money.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, take a picture of anything, a blade of grass, it'll tell you what fertilizer to put in your lawn.

SPEAKER_02

But whoo!

SPEAKER_01

Don't drop a hem seed in there.

SPEAKER_00

Unfortunately, I don't think we've seen the end of the layoffs. No, AI powered layoffs.

SPEAKER_01

Wait until wait until AI lays off Mark. You don't think that day's coming? Well, he's not needed, he's making all this money.

SPEAKER_00

That money should go, all of it should go back to he has majority control of the company share wise. If any c any CEO that doesn't should be hesitant with using this stuff because they're gonna be like since we know AI can lie, you watch when some AI is gonna dude.

SPEAKER_01

You just watch is gonna buy up all the stock. Now you're gonna see it happen. You're gonna wake up Monday morning, AI fired you from your own. Why couldn't it?

SPEAKER_00

It's it's coming. Uh, so yeah, very unfortunate news on the meta side. Definitely didn't want to ignore that. And then one more thing, I guess, while we're here before we get into the showcase stuff. We got this face shield or the the face gasket for the MetaQuest 3 headset from a company called Oblik. Oblick. O B L I K. Oblik. Oblik. And their stuff is custom fitted for your face. So you download this app, you do a face scan of your face, you ask some ask you a little survey of questions like you know, how much do you care about light bleed? How much do you care about pressure on the face? How much do you care about even distribution? Do you use eyeglasses? Do you use uh prescription lenses? Do you use the default head strap? If not, what head strap do you use? All those questions, and then it generates, you know, using the iPhone, you do a scan of your face and it does a 3D model of it. And then with that, they custom mold you a face gasket for your your headset. And we each got one, so huge props to the company, huge thank you there. And by the way, the whole process was super easy to do. Uh, you just download an app on your iPhone. You do need an iPhone to do it, but on their website, they said if you don't have an iPhone, contact them. I don't really know what happens from there. Uh, but yeah, if you do your scan and then it came in. We're gonna really put it through the test this next week. But I had you put on mine because you tried yours, because you're like, let's see how much of a difference the face scan actually made. And pretty noticeable right away. Like there was a bunch of light bleed getting in on your sides and stuff that wasn't there on yours. Whereas with me, it it is so custom fitted and snug to my face. And when I put it on wearing the headset, it felt so comfortable. Like the weight distribution was so much better. It just I still got a little bit of light bleed on the nose part, but I also selected in my survey that I like having some nosebleed. So I'm wondering if I put no nosebleed, if this would be tighter as well, too. No, a light bleed, but yeah. So we're gonna really put this thing through the test this next week and then talk about it a bit more next week. But so far, super impressed. Very easy process.

SPEAKER_01

I would say the keys to the car look beautiful, but until I'm sitting in the car driving it, I'm not it's not a cheap, this is not a cheap throwaway. No, a bit over 80 coming, it's coming with the the the rubber seal on it, it's coming with the actual plastic uh mount for it. So custom 3D printed. I a hundred percent am real quiet about it until next week.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, just so I said I I'm really gonna put it through the well, gotta do some forefront later today with it as well. And then you know I'm gonna do some through all the fight with this thing, see how it handles sweat and exercise, you know, a high movement game where you're moving around your head a bunch. Well, I'm gonna torture it. Yeah, put this thing through the ringer. But so far, just off of comfort, you know, I I put it on in front of you on my headset, and I'm like, dude, the weight distribution, like the way this feels against my face, is so snug. So huge props to the company. Huge thank you for sending it to us. But we're gonna really put it through the test this next weekend, talk about it a bit more from there.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I'm I'm hoping I'm I'm like home run city with it. Like I said, I'm just reluctant to say anything until I I get it.

SPEAKER_00

You're always very hesitant about give me the keys to the game. If somebody spends money, you want them to you want to know that it was well spent.

SPEAKER_01

So I guess 14 20 bucks, I don't care if I'm wrong. I don't. But higher end items, haptics, I'll admit it. You know, it's like if I'm saying I enjoyed it, I I legit enjoyed it. It's something that I I would have wanted anyways.

SPEAKER_00

So we're gonna have time to do uh a good test drive on it this next week. And since we went on a huge AI tangent for a bit. Let me get this. Let's just do this so then we can go right into it. Her voices were AI during the showcase. Huge props to Mateo. Thank you. Thank you, brother. Mateo 311. He was up to the plate. He was in the live chat. He had me dying. He's like, I have met these two in person. I probably talked it. And this is literally.

SPEAKER_01

I I was recovering. When I heard my voice, I was like, dude, my voice sounds a little fucked. And I'm like, it's my chest cold that I was holding. Yeah. I was trying not to cough, so I was trying to remain one tone. I think you even said somebody's gonna say this is AI.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, they're gonna be like, this is AI. But Mateo stepped up. Yeah, huge, huge thank you. He's like, This is I've met them both in person. This is literally their voice. I was dying laughing.

SPEAKER_01

I'm not saying one ever wants to get in a fight, but if you do, certain people you want in your corner locally, Mateo's one. Dude's from the city, bro. It's like you don't have to, it's not even a fucking question. It's not like one of those, dude. If shit goes down, will you have, you know, like if you have to have that conversation, you're you're with the wrong people if shit goes down. You don't fuck with family, you know? No, no, I that was I was dying laughing at it.

SPEAKER_00

I was like, either one of us could have popped in and been like, nope, better when someone else does it. So although you did say I did have a chess goal. Yeah, but fuck yeah to Mateo. That was awesome before we could even respond. He was just shutting that shit down. Like, no, that's how they talk right away. That was awesome. Uh, but as always, too, before we get into the the actual showcase coverage, now that we did a huge philosophy of AI tangent, huge thank you to our Patreon supporters on our on-air shout-out tier, the people that help keep our lights on week after week. Huge thank you to Carson, Espire Mike, Crispy, Tom, Chris, and Danae. Thank you all for continued support week after week, month after month. And you can join that list of Patreon supporters by visiting the link in our show notes, our episode description. You can join the Patreon and like I said, get your name shouted out every week. And every tier of our Patreon comes with uh an exclusive Patreon supporter role in our Discord, which you can also find the link for in our show notes, our episode description. And you get access to an exclusive channel in our Patreons, uh, in our Discord channel, just for Patreon supporters. Um been recently sharing some progress pictures of our studio, which is getting pretty fucking close, if you ask me. So yeah, huge thank you to our Patreon peeps, huge thank you to our everyone that hangs out in our Discord, makes it such a great community. You can find the link for both of those in the episode description. And don't forget, you can use code word rough talk vr, all one word, r-u-f-f-t-a-l-k V R at checkout on the MetaQuest store and save 10% off of any game or app on the MetaQuest store. If you're gonna buy a game anyway, might as well save 10%, and it helps support the show as well, too. So who can be mad about that? So, kicking off the stuff from our showcase, this had to be one of my favorite things for the showcase. When we were watching the trailer the first time when it came in, we were so shocked by it. And all the good all the best ways Walkabout Mini Golf has announced a collaboration with Homestar called the Homestar Runner Distraction Pack. It's coming on June 25th, join it's coming on June 25th, and it's gonna come with in-game character appearances uh from the the brothers chaps, the the creators of Homestar. And this trailer was a big a huge win. And this isn't gonna be a course like some of their other DLCs, and it's not just an asset pack either of you know, like they've done uh what's the name of with the the the Muppet looking one that you always use. Fraggle Rock? Yeah, it's not like the Fraggle Rock asset pack. This is going to come with new mini games, cosmetics, and locations from the Home Star world. And there is gonna be 18 lost balls to collect, custom putters, unlockable host celebrations, host, unlockable whole celebrations, and a new ball trail. And this one, the live the reaction in the live chat as this aired, people go crazy nice for HomeStar. This is a hit, yeah. And even uh Nick, Nick Sutrich from Android Central was telling me this is some of what got him into Flash because it started as a web series on an Adobe Flash website before eventually becoming a YouTube series once Flash was discontinued, which I still think Adobe canceling Flash hurt. Like there were so many good games online and stuff, all from Flash and series like this. So yeah, the Home Star Runner Distraction Pack will launch on June 25th and looks freaking awesome. The trailer was hilarious, and I cannot wait to get my hands on this.

SPEAKER_01

It was a hundred percent one of my favorite trailers of the day. It was so well done, unquestionably, and it was a curveball nobody saw fucking coming because it starts with the animated, and you're like, what is this? Is this the home star game? When we pre-watched, and I was like, 'cause I knew it was gonna be walkabout. I was like, what in the fuck am I looking at? And I was like, This is this is home run.

SPEAKER_00

And then when it switches from the animation to the in-game characters, love every second of it. Oh my god, great work to the mighty coconut team, and I was so happy to have this one on our showcase.

SPEAKER_01

So, also shown, well, it's all shown on the Roughtalk VR gaming showcase. From here on out, the rest of this is showcase stuff. I'll just say before I even start, I'll say right now, as I'm saying this, and this was this price of the showcase, but this game, the Assessive Shadow, currently rocking a 4.3, is on sale from its expensive, exuberant how dare you price of $4.99 to $3.99. So if it wasn't worth it before, I hate looking at what this game is charged because it's worth at least, you know, come on, dude, double that. $9.99 a hundred percent. So if you don't know, spooky spooky, uh, you're running around in the the normal game, you're running around more of like an 80s themed genre household, trying to keep some creature from from coming into your face. I don't want to give spoilers because it's it's pretty cool when it does happen. Uh, you get to utilize a telephone, you get messages, pop up, run to different locations in the house. But basically, long story short, as I learned, it's gonna scare the hell out of you. Uh, this did come from developer Pablo Heckman, by the way. Um, but you know, why not take a scary thing and make it even scarier? When I saw the trailer, I the people who reacted in the chat reacted exactly how I reacted. What the hell would I want to make a nightmare come true in my own house for? But he is adding mixed reality to the obsessive shadow. So that scary creature that you'll see, you know, peeking behind doors and peeking through the windows in that house that's make-believe. Well, guess now it can be in your own house. And you're gonna let that happen for three dollars and ninety-nine cents. It's a home run, it's a great experience. I'm horror is like my least favorite VR thing because it legit does its job, it scares me. This is not a cookie cutter of somebody else's stuff. It's original, it's an original experience. Uh, I think Upload actually compared it kind of to Five Night at Freddy's, but since I'm not big into that franchise, this was new to me. But anyways, the game is scary as hell, dude. Yeah, and what's crazy is when they show you the transition in uh the trailer, it's hard to really know that it changed. So I don't know if I'm down. I don't want that thing in my house.

SPEAKER_00

I could barely handle it in the house I was visiting. The comments in the live chat were hilarious, like, oh hell no.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, no, they were they were exactly what I thought they would be, which was that's a hard no for me. But I think he's been in almost, if not every one of our showcases thus far. It it's a great game to put people in if you want to scare the shit out of them. If you want to, like you're having a party. Because let's be honest, in a party, you're not gonna be as scared. But you will.

SPEAKER_00

So this next one was a sponsor of our showcase from Developer Into Black and other games like Resist. They announced their next game coming to the MetaQuest, unconfirmed if it's coming to other platforms, just right now. You can wish list that on the meta quest called Survive the Night. It's going to be a VR co-op action roguelite set within the galaxy's most popular game show. Players are gonna work together to survive a series of challenges featuring physics-based melee combat, dynamic minigames, and a roguelite progression system. And you can, like I said, wish list it now on the MetaQuest store. During our showcase, there wasn't a trailer or anything, but we got to break the news ourselves, which was really cool. Uh, and yeah, the store page is up now, and it looks very interesting. With it being free to play, I'm curious what the you know how how they're gonna monetize it. I'm gonna guess player skins and avatars and that stuff, but I don't know. And it it looks very interesting. But you can join their Discord at discord.ggthebinary mill, and then they say that there you can help shape the game with early feedback and such, I'm sure when it comes into early access. Looks real interesting.

SPEAKER_02

Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_00

I'm gonna definitely give it a try. Yeah, usually free to play isn't my type of deal, but this doesn't look like the gorilla taggy type game.

SPEAKER_01

So no, and then even one that we'll talk about later that does have some little bit of it. I want to try it. I know.

SPEAKER_00

We'll talk about that when it comes up, but I know exactly the one you're talking about. But yeah, survive the night from the binary mill. The next game from the studio, who always does extremely well polished games. This doesn't look like your typical free-to-play game. This looks like it's gonna be a bit more on the premium side. So I don't know. I'm curious, I'm excited to try this when it comes out, when it's ready for early access. And I always love co-op, love a good roguelite, so let's see. But yeah, join their Discord to stay up to date on the game when it's available and more news about it. And again, huge thank you to the binary mail for sponsoring the showcase as well. Yeah, that was ginormous.

SPEAKER_01

Alright, so this next one I was pretty stoked was in uh the showcase again, was in our last showcase. This comes from Sky Yurt Games. This is a solo developer who is very, very ambitiously doing what's called Viper Vice. That's the closest comparison I can have to it. If Grand Theft Auto was made by one developer with really big ambitions. Um, this game was released in February 2020. It's on all the quest platforms, which scares me. Take it off the two, please. There's no reason for it. It lists for $19.99. It's worth every penny of it just to support this guy and what he's doing because what he's doing is just so over the top. Like, dude, this is patch seven that we're doing. So I'll be the first one to say that you probably gonna experience some jank. There's no probably about that. The MO in this developer to me is not I'm fixing my jank today, it's I'm doing something new today. And that will be something we'll worry about later. You had me laugh and talk about it. You're like, all right, guns work, on to the next. Yep, all right. It fired, it killed someone, I'm moving. If you look cue is in my hand, if you look in the trailer, the pool cue is being held in the like in the palm of the hand, and that is someone in the chat was like, Well, that's an interesting way to hold a pool cue, but you know what? It worked and it hit the pool ball. So I am busting his chops. This is a solo dev, but this is a solo dev that like I feel like if had two people working with him to to ride in the wake, because he loves it, seems like getting this shit out there and pushing forward. Just let the people behind him fix the the stuff because sooner or later it could start catching up. But it's actually a very, very fun game. We had a great time in it, even when we hit some of the earlier jank, this was a long time ago. Um, still had a lot of laughs, still had a blast, and we were real curious where he's going with it. Well, there we were going with it. Patch number seven, uh, adding a whole bunch of stuff. You're gonna be able to take on the role of a police enforcer if you want, help fight some crime, taxi driver. You already know, take people who probably are gonna be whiny around the city, deliver pizza. You can be a pizza guy, a pizza delivery guy, uh, or be a bouncer, verify IDs, decide who's coming into the bars. Also, got some activities, play in a casino, roulette, blackjack, slot machines. This guy is just insane. Uh, sports, we got pool. We saw that in the video. Uh, play some basketball, throw some darts. Some people make just a darts game, right? This guy just throws it in and aside with pool. I'm telling you, I'm surprised bowling's not in there. I'm surprised co-op's not out here at this point, right? Uh, you can visit the gun shop, learn to shoot your games, test you know, test your shit out. There was a physics overhaul. That's huge. But it was just the bottles. Oh, it was just something to do with bottles, not a retract. We're gonna get motorcycles or two-wheeled vehicles, which means bikes and motorcycles, a weather system, which will give us all the the weathers. Oh my god. Scope, silencers, new magazines, upgrade your weapons. I just want eight seconds in this guy's brain. It is so over the top. It is legit. Like, we hear solo devs, and there's some fantastic loop one done. Holy crap. There's another example. Like, what if we just put a couple of these people together for a weekend? Because this guy's got gold. It just has to be janked janked up. Fix some of the jank, dude. This thing is like, it really is. At the end of the day, five years from now, what this could be, it's insane.

SPEAKER_00

It is might be the most ambitious game I've ever seen a solo dev actually end up releasing on the MetaQuest tour. Million. Not like I started it and it never hit release. It's out there with endless potential. I think talking GTA online is what you're really talking. I think you said that there's been over 4,000 players as well, too. So, you know, 4,000 times 30. I'm sorry, times 20. Yeah. Jesus, that's a big difference, right? That's 80,000.

SPEAKER_01

Not necessarily fully mighty.

SPEAKER_00

But then meta takes their 30.

SPEAKER_01

And and in fairness, you know, we were gifted the keys as well. That's direct money not coming in. I'm sure others were as well. But do I support it? Uh-huh. Day one. Before taxes, which of course, you know.

SPEAKER_00

Well, that's a business. He can figure you can even figure it out. We'll just spend it. He's pulled minus meta's cut, he's pulled 56k off of this thing with uh 4,000 units. And I think he might have said 4,500 as well, too. So I mean, look, he's made enough for a year's salary. Yeah, he said current net players 4,500. Yeah, 4,500 plus. So I mean, look, that's a great example of like releasing a game in early access. He's made enough for a year's salary, depending on where he lives. Like, he can keep working on it now. And if it keeps getting better, like you said, maybe in a couple years, this ends up being like a must-owned game.

SPEAKER_01

If if two more people could piggyback with his enthusiasm on it, I mean, I I got some people I already know that could really help with some of that jank. But you know, that's a financial equipment commitment he has to make. But I feel like it would allow him to do what he enjoys doing more than what he I can tell it's a passion project.

SPEAKER_00

You can tell it's passion.

SPEAKER_01

Um, publisher, you know, needs one of those to just be that driving force to be like, I get it. I see the 1002 things you got on that whiteboard ready to roll. But we've got these 842 backend things. As much as it sucks, and it's easy because you're a solo dev. You don't have to, you don't have to listen to that fucking voice. I fired that guy two years ago.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, he clearly has more fun bringing in new features than polishing, but but I I stand behind it.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, and I want to see it, I want to see it win and crush.

SPEAKER_00

The reality is it's only gonna get better. So huge props to him, and was actually very excited to have that trailer on our showcase. So, this next one from the developers of Evil Inside VR, their studio name, I love their name, Bull of Tentacles. Bow of Testicles. They tentacles, they made the VR version of Evil Inside, which was a flat screen game, and now, as part of the Rough Talk VR showcase, they announced their next game that they're bringing a VR, which is a VR adaptation of the game Order 13, which already exists on Steam. On Steam, the flat screen version of Order 13 has over a thousand reviews with a very positive rating. And I've never played Order 13, I've never heard it. So what a twist we were in with this trailer when it looked like you know, box scanning simulators.

SPEAKER_01

People fell for it too. There's a cat hook line and singer. People are cute. This is great.

SPEAKER_00

The chat was all like, this game looks a lot more chill, and I was like, you just wait, because that's exactly what I was thinking the first time we see it. Then they open up that garage door, and shit gets eerie very fast. So I'm I'm excited for this. They did a great job with Evil Inside VR, it's been very well received. This is a studio that brings their games to all platforms as well. They released Evil Inside to Quest, PC VR, and PlayStation VR too. And it looks like they're doing the same with Order 13 as well, too. So go with the enthusiasm of the the dude who does all the their on-screen camera stuff. That's how they do like all their social media posts as well, too. I love it. He does a great job with them. He's got that energy, like that on-screen personality. When he was like in stick-around for his special, it was legit.

SPEAKER_01

You can see it in the eyes. Because he knew damn well what was gonna happen. We're gonna think, oh, we're shipping boxes, stamping, approved. Oh, look at a little kitty cat.

SPEAKER_00

And then it takes a dark turn. I think that they did a great job with the pacing of that trailer. So it was great, including the the pre-hype. He does a great job. No release date, but it sounds like it's coming sometime this year. So Bull of Tentacles with their second VR adaptation of a flat screen game, and this one is order 13. So go go wish list it on all available stores, and let's support another great dev bringing great games to VR.

SPEAKER_01

So we know of a great game called Just Hoops, which I mean, dude, from from early access with that, it's always been fun.

SPEAKER_00

This developer is so innovative between just hoops that he also did uh hide the corpse.

SPEAKER_01

So Realcast, that's who I'm referring to. They're coming out sometime soon for a whopping six dollars and ninety-nine cents. It's called Just Hoops Nano. Now, as you can imagine in the name, it's going to be a very smaller version of the full court current just hoops. Um this is gonna be a very miniature plate in your house, mixed reality. You can use hand tracking. They're saying pinch, flick, shoot.

SPEAKER_00

Sounds um I saw that happen too.

SPEAKER_01

What happened?

SPEAKER_00

I don't know. I think your graphics card is starting to go.

SPEAKER_01

Folks, this is a very sad day.

SPEAKER_00

I saw it flash black. Did you see it go out?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Very sad right now.

SPEAKER_00

Trying to try, I would turn it fully off and then turn it back on. Just give it an old reset.

SPEAKER_01

You're watching a 200.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, oh slide it up, slide it up.

SPEAKER_01

I've never seen this screen. We're back. It lives. Best 200 bucks we ever spent. So back to real cast and just hoops, nano. It is going to be in your play space, a chill experience. If you even look at their graphic, it's probably the most ideal way that they could ever present it. Zero stress playing this. You have your feet up on the cushions, don't want to play with the controllers, don't have to, and it's good. Bunch of little mini games. So it's gonna be fun. I expect the graphics to look pretty damn good for what it is. The soundtrack I expect to be pretty damn good.

SPEAKER_00

The trailer had like a custom song in it about just is basketball flick with your finger.

SPEAKER_01

Just they said all the words, man. It was awesome. So this is coming soon. You can wish list it right now on the Meta Horizon store for six dollars and ninety-nine cents. That's what it's gonna cost. That's not bad at all. Dude, all these all these games coming out have like no severe consequence with buying them.

SPEAKER_00

And dude, that studio, like I said, just hoops, the original, hide the corpse. They also did Ladino Labo, which you loved as well. Innovative freaking studio, right there. I'm I'm really excited for this one. This next one is another one of our sponsors, uh, Sugar Madness from developer Jolly Co. Kevin Co. Jolly Co. makes me hunky. The sound effects in this trailer were so great, and I'm so glad that people called that out in the showcase live chat as well. I saw somebody comment, you know, the sound effects in this are great.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it made me smile.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, because that's a I was hoping it was something people were gonna notice. Uh Jolly Co. says this is a fast-paced arcade-style VR shooter with a mix of mechanics and mini games. It rewards accuracy, movement, and quick decision making while remaining easy to pick up and play. It's a game that can be played solo or in co-op mode, which that's a huge win to me. And they've announced that the game is coming out on June 4th. And it's a third-person shooter. You're in a candy-themed environment, if you can't tell by the name Sugar Madness, and you'll be fighting you'll be fighting things once sweet confections that turned into rabid, quote-unquote, candy morphs. So you'll be fighting in a candy-themed environment, and it sound sounds like you'd be using candy-themed weapons with a sick soundtrack and sound effects in the game as well, too. So I most know Jolly Co for their match three game as well, which was very well done. And I think Sugar Madness is just gonna take them to the next level. Looks fun, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And another example of I loved when people enjoyed the same things I got out of that trailer, like instantly. And sound is definitely one of them.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, their other games are Jolly Match, first MR Match 3 puzzles, then there's Sugar Madness coming out next, Sugar Mess, Jigsaw Puzzles, and uh Sugar Mess, Let's Play Jolly Battle. So you can tell that they like their candy over there. If I if we visited that studio and there wasn't just a bowl of sweets on the table. Like, no, they're all keto, no sugar allowed in the office. I ain't visiting this. Bacon and eggs all day, you know. That's funny.

SPEAKER_01

But I'm excited for sugar madness, especially co-op. Not gonna lie, I like seeing people save money, but you talk about an easy peasy press box.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, I know, just a bunch of sweets. They should partner with smart suites. Yeah, they can pounce all they they hate us.

SPEAKER_01

I don't know why. They've gotten so much of both of our money. Anyways, you know who's looking to get some of my money? Fixer undercover. Hell to the yeah. July 16th. Now for the hook. What's the hook? Well, the hook. Well, of course I expect to be able to play it in VR on Steam July 16th. But you're also gonna be able to play it flat screen.

SPEAKER_00

Hell yeah. And they did previously announce that before too, but yeah, that's freaking huge. You were saying you you can't wait to play this flat screen, too. Yeah, I'm dying to play it flat screen.

SPEAKER_01

I already know how to play it VR. It's fun. I want to play it flat screen. I'm convinced it's going to be equally as fun. So for people who don't have VR, for me, I don't think it'll be equally.

SPEAKER_00

I think it'll be still good, but there's something about using the actual tools with your VR controllers. I think that's gonna be tough to beat.

SPEAKER_01

If I expect you to die, would come out flat screen. I feel it would it would hold its weight.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, I agree.

SPEAKER_01

Just on hype train alone from the city.

SPEAKER_00

I think it would still be better in VR, but I think it would hold its weight.

SPEAKER_01

Probably make more money flat though, right?

SPEAKER_00

Wouldn't that be crazy? Possibly. Come out the gate crushing it. But the graphics they showed in this trailer for the PC VR version look freaking solid. Because some of the bricks on the quest. And they said there's what, a demo?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, there's a currently a demo. I confirmed it is open on Steam for level one to seven. But I don't fuck with the demo. Just wish list it.

SPEAKER_00

I wonder if the demo is available in flat as well, too. I think so. I'll follow my own advice.

SPEAKER_01

Don't play the demo. I have no desire to play a demo of any capacity. Any time.

SPEAKER_00

I used to love demos as a kid.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I don't mind a demo. Well, there was a window too where some of these discs would come with the full game on it. And all you had to do was unlock it. So if you had the demo, you had the full game. You just had to wink wink unlock it. Now, since Commodore 64, man, we're just all sorts of shit with games.

SPEAKER_00

But uh definitely wish list this on the Steam store for both the VR and the flats. It's the same store page. You buy one, you get both.

SPEAKER_01

Yep. And you still, if you don't have it on Meta, you can get it $14.99. Not a bad freaking deal at all. One of the best games of this past year. Puzzle game of the year, in my opinion, for meta. I can't, I'm struggling with someone that's running competition on them.

SPEAKER_00

Dare I say most iconic VR game character of the year for me?

SPEAKER_01

Winston. Winston? I want to win. So iconic. Yeah. Crazy not to be hitting the merch train on that.

SPEAKER_00

If you haven't played Ficture Undercovery, you don't know what I'm talking about with how badass Winston is. He is the he is the new VR character of the year to me. But yeah, I'm excited for that one. I'll definitely try it flat, but I'm really excited to see it. The VR graphics on PC VR, because just based off of that footage they showed, it looks freaking great. And this next one, this is the other free-to-play game that we referenced earlier, Oogabonk, with a great name from developer Flat Hill Studios, who I know from games like uh Mixologist, and then they also made back in the day Clash of Chefs. This is their next game, Oogabonk, and the trailer opened up so good with uh a caveman falling from the sky and smashing something going Ooga Babooga. Oogabooga sold right there. Uh, but it's a social sandbox game coming to MetaQuest and PC VR. It allows eight players into a caveman-themed playground of jungles, volcanoes, wildlife, and customizable cosmetics. Looks like that there's some base building or at least base customization in there as well. The only part that's not, you know, my general type of thing is gorilla tag style movement. But you know what? I think I'm I'm open to trying to this one as well, too. It looks freaking fun. You get your tribe. I wonder if it's gonna be you and other players. You get to design your own little sanctuary, your own little habitat as well. Ooga booga booga. Ooga booga, ooga booga.

SPEAKER_01

I'm gonna try it. I wasn't even thrown when we first discovered the movement. I was like, uh fuck it, I'll still try it. Looks like there might be enough going on that I don't have to waddle too far.

SPEAKER_00

Well, it looks like that they lean very much into your individual character's progression as well, with like cosmetics, uh upgrades to your base, all of that, versus just being a social playground. So, yeah, I'm excited for this one. I wish the studio the best with it, and I'll definitely check it out when it's available. I love their trailer too. Uga babooga. Uga gabooga.

SPEAKER_01

Uh, scared by squares. Talk about ooga gabooga.

SPEAKER_00

You had me dying when we watched this trailer, by the way. You go, I'm really gonna be scared by a fucking square.

SPEAKER_01

You have me scared of a cube now. Thanks. Real simple premise get from point A to point B. Seems easy, it's just squares, but the rooms change and manipulate while you move. It's it's actually considered horrid, my my understanding. So, this multiplayer experience that they're coming out with co-op it was just single player before was originally announced in December 15th on the upload vr winter showcase. Well, we are now at the rough talk vr spring showcase, and it is not abandoned, it's still happening. They just want it to be the best experience they can for both parties involved. They're I'm not upset about it. Anytime that somebody's holding something, they're even using deadly delivery as like part of the who they're trying to maybe get co-op vr hits different than single player VR. The crazy thing, dude. You can pick this up right now in the MetaQuest store on sale for four dollars and ninety-nine cents. Oh my goodness, what is this the 4.7 with 84 current players? This is just the regular single player skip. So, I mean, geez, even at full price of six dollars and ninety-nine cents. Another example of a game under ten dollars that, in my opinion, is crushing it.

SPEAKER_00

Developer hangs out on our Discord sometimes. Shoes actually played this back when it first came out, and he said that he was very impressed with the game.

SPEAKER_01

It's unique, it proves horror doesn't have to be scary monsters. It's a vibe, it's a feel, it's it's not bright if you're scared by squares.

SPEAKER_00

Jerk. I love the ridiculousness of it, and the fact that it works, like anything can be scary with the right soundtrack, the right lighting, but yeah, because of the right color music, very little is scary.

SPEAKER_01

So, yeah, I mean, it's a killer trailer, and co-op is still happening.

SPEAKER_00

Wow.

SPEAKER_01

And if you want to play a little free demo, don't play a free demo. You can on Steam. Good stuff. Yep.

SPEAKER_00

I'm excited to try the multiplayer in that one. The next one. This developer was on our last showcase as well with Neolithic Dawn. On our last showcase, it was like a great animated little short for their launch as well, and they've now announced Neolithic Dawn's next update called the Hearthfire Update, which is going to bring base building to the game. It's gonna be a free update that lets you do player build built shelters, as well as new environmental systems and expanded survival mechanics. So it's gonna bring in new building materials, you're gonna be able to place campfires and beds inside of your your shelters, and adding a new weather system. So water will freeze in colder environments, and dry grass can be burned. Neolithic Dawn was a great game before. It's available single player and co-op with over 300 reviews on the MetaQuest store. It's available on Steam as well, 1999. And I think base building for this type of Neolithic game makes it's a it's a game changer. Like I love game survival games with base building, it's almost a must in a survival game. And dude, we get to build a Neolithic base together. That's freaking badass.

SPEAKER_01

Shelter. My bar is so high for survival games right now. Because you've been playing Rust? Grim crushing it. Yeah, I I have my own Rust server now. If anybody wants to join in and not start trouble, you're welcome to. I'll be happy to tell you where it is. Whether you come into my shit, start trouble, I'll shut my server down. Now I rent the server. No, but my bar is legit high. And and like you said, it's gotta hit some check boxes. Upgrades, buildables. But this, I think we're gonna be seeing progress on this game for a long time.

SPEAKER_00

Base building is a huge step in the right direction. Weather effects as well. Like, come on, that's huge. So good stuff.

SPEAKER_01

Um, I'm gonna pull a quote off of the actual store page for this next game, which I'm referring to the dark trip, because I was like, wow, you know, how in my own words can I really describe the craziness? And I can really summarize a lot into a sentence by just plagiarizing their work. So they're saying the most unique and bizarre VR experiences, which, based on the trailer, I'll agree with, you take on the role of an investigator searching for a missing woman and are forced forced to consume drugs during your mission to figure this out. I'm gonna stop it right there because obviously there's more you these drugs induce hallucinations, which go towards the story. This is like escape room horror, 4.5 on MetaQuest, $9.99, 164 reviews. Holy crap, this is solid. When I saw the trailer, I was like, this can't be on meta, is it? It looks a little sexual. Um, I was reading into it, I guess, incorrectly. It's part of this Lovecraftian vibe they got going on. So yeah, you're gonna you're gonna take pills, you're gonna hallucinate, escape roomish horror. It's called the dark, it's called Dark Trip. Dark Trip. There was there is gonna be a playtest for my worlds, but there is no I guess to know is to know. So if you want to know how to play test it, hound on their their website would probably be my best. Because right now it's on MetaQuest, but it's coming it's coming to Steam.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, both on flat and isn't it coming flat? Flat N VR N VR. And uh the playtest is gonna be for the Steam version as well. Yep, yep, yep, yep. Freaking badass. That game was trippy when we saw the trail their first time. So this next one, another one of our sponsors, Clonk from Bearhammer Games, which I remember them for Ventures Gauntlet, that was like the parkour racing game. But their newest game, Clonk, is a free-to-play, free-to-play game. And they've added a new mode called Clonk Ball that's being described as Rocket League with guns. Reminds me of Power World when it was, you know, Pokemon with guns. This is Rocket League with guns. And yeah, Clonk Ball, you're gonna be aiming to get the ball in the net on the other side, similar to soccer, but using guns to angle your shots, spit, add spin to the shots, and from their store page, they say pull off ridiculous play. You earn currency each round, and with that currency, you grab new weapons mid-match to turn things in your favor. Game looks very, very interesting. And I think uh a new new mode like this, Clonk Ball, is going to change the game. I appreciated their trailer. They trail they put a good amount of work into that.

SPEAKER_01

When they did the zooming in of the characters with the little eyes, yeah, just those little little like honey pots trailer, dude. Amazing. Graphically not amazing, but made up for it with the overall so it looks fun.

SPEAKER_00

Huge thank you to Bearhammer Games for sponsoring. If you haven't checked out Clonk yet, it's free to play on the MetaQuest store. Go check it out and play some Clonk Ball. Maybe that's one that we could do with our Discord community sometime if people are interested. Stuff there. I'm down.

SPEAKER_01

Clonk ball. Uh last one for me, the game we love, How to God. We actually have a level in How to God that we helped design. Well, I can't say that they designed it. We spoke words. Their magician just was a wizard with the tablet in real time putting shit together, like wasn't at all going down like I thought it was, but that young lady was a wizard. I hope she's still with them too. And with their next update, I'm gonna assume if if she is, then she's partly responsible for this. But we're getting a new style upgrade is coming. They also showed some new looked like some new uh some new villagers for your little teaser of maybe some new villagers and some new art style coming. This is from Thoughtfish. They have not slowed down with this. This is a pricey game, though. We've said it from it's like a $30 game the last time I checked. Only just in real time right now, I'll click on the buy it now.

SPEAKER_00

They're doing good on store reviews, though. But I agree.

SPEAKER_01

4.8 240. It's it's pricey. We've said that, but they are not slowing down. Their roadmap for this is miles long. The reviews speak for themselves. If it was expensive and you weren't getting your money's worth, it would not be reflected in the 4.8. You would get gigged for it. So although it is pricey and we will full disclosure it, um, it they're not stopping. It's like every little piece that they can keep doing to this, and it does sound like they're gonna go on for a long time providing content, and they've never hid from the fact that it's a $29.99 game. Of course, you could use the code word rough talk vr and save 10% on that purchase. Not taking money from them, but you know, help some peeps out at the same time.

SPEAKER_00

I've always loved this style of game. It's very reminiscent of black and white as well from the flat screen days of the early 2000s. Black and white was a great game, and how to god is probably the closest thing that's come out to black and white on flat screen or VR. It's limitless to what they're gonna be able to do too. So and there's a Steam version coming soon that's not available yet with no date on their store page, but there's a free demo on their store page for Steam as well, too. But if you got a meta quest, it's out now, and it's like you said, it's expensive, but it's worth it. The quality's there.

SPEAKER_01

Again, I we're so open about like if we're saying if something's worth it or not with the money. I mean, I get it more than anyone, and that's one where it's like, yeah, it's legit. You're in it for the long haul. You're not like, oh, I'm never gonna play this again. It's like, dude, every time there's an update, you're gonna run back to the thing.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, freaking good game. So, this next one for me is called Cozy Worlds Together. It's going to be a companion app for the game Cozy Worlds. With this game, it's free to play. It's a free app for to expand on Cozy Worlds. In Cozy Worlds, you can create worlds and creations that you can then play together with friends in Cozy Worlds together. So, if you own Cozy Worlds, you can export and share your custom creations, and then you and your friends can hop in and play in them together in Cozy Worlds together. Really cool concept made by developers VR Together. Uh the the founder Richard Hog Hogland said Cozy Worlds Together is intended to expand the calm and creative atmosphere of Cozy Worlds into a social experience that can be enjoyed together. I like the concept. Like you have this game that you make the worlds in, and then for free you have the companion app that you play together on. And you can wish list it now on the MetaQuest store page. Store page went live right after the showcase aired. And yeah, good stuff there. I like that. It's a it's a very unique concept. You gotta give people a reason to come back. And that was pretty much all the trailers with you know major news attached to them. We did have some other great trailers, like one of the last trailers on the showcase with Knights of Fiona, one of the most anticipated VR games right now. There's hype for it, and they're you know definitely recommend joining their Discord uh for character bank to stay up to date with what's coming there. But they put together a really nice gameplay trailer for a showcase as well, and there's a ton of hype for that game. So I was so happy to have that one on. And the game's looking like it's coming along really well. Loop one done from Jonas. He announced his new studio name, which is an a rearranging of the letters Jonas, and it means I forget what it means in Swedish as well, too. Uh, but he gave like a one-year dev diary on actually two-year dev diary, I think. No, maybe one year. I mixed up my trailers, but he gave uh pretty much what's what's happened in the game in the last year of development. Proton VR, they opened up the showcase. It's like a compound-esque game, is what everyone compares it to. Got a great gameplay trailer from them. You can wish list it on Steam. Mandela Invasion VR Alternates. I think that might have been one of your, if not your number one trailer on the showcase. It was a good one. It looks spooky, dude. It's good. Uh Elite Institute in our Discord has been going crazy about it. I think he said that that was his number one as well, too. Hyperlane Highway looked a bit similar to the another game that's on our list, Pedal Rebel VR. Yeah. Pedal Rebel's crazy. And Hyperlane Highway has a little bit more of a roguelite aspect to it. Looks really cool. You're riding kind of a surfboard, skateboard looking thing. Hoverboard. Hoverboard, yes. Looks really good. Had a trailer, previously shown trailer from Iron Rebellion. Love that game. One of the best mech games in VR. Hell yeah, it was. Ghost Cam. That was another previously shown one, but it was great to have them on there.

unknown

Yeah, it was cool.

SPEAKER_00

Got this one. I was mixing up the one or two years with. We had a two year dev diary from the developer of Disembodied, who was on one of our showcases last year. I'm super excited for this game. With the hands. I'm sad we didn't have the

SPEAKER_01

Um not suspicious.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, I know. That was the first time we haven't had him. Yeah. Not saying anything, Raphael. I'm just saying. I say we don't. I say we blackball him. You miss one. You missed one. That's over. That's it. You're out. Disembody is a super unique concept to use the hands to that one.

SPEAKER_01

That one's gonna win some awards for most intuitive use of hand tracking. You're out of your fucking mind if it doesn't. It looks so cool. I can't wait to get my.

SPEAKER_00

When it turns into the boxing glove and it punches through a wall, too.

SPEAKER_01

Dude. Cannot wait. Yeah, I'm because I had a lot of questions. Every time I see it, I have questions.

SPEAKER_00

And so I'm now I'm ready. And I like that he does like the dev diary style thing where he just talks about what he's been working on. It awesome music in the background as well. Funny dude. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Good sense of humor.

SPEAKER_00

Witty. He's witty. Disembodied. I'm so excited for that game. We had another trailer from Exergale as well, too. Believe that one was previously shown as well, but really fun. You know, you're kind of like doing some hang gliding, it looks like, in there. It's a great game. Cave Crave. That was a previously shown trailer for their multiplayer, but it did show that it's coming to PSVR2, and they included a discount code at the end of the trailer, too. So definitely go check that out. Had a trailer from Ancient Dungeons, Ancient Dungeon, with a new cosmetic pack that had been previously shown. Adrian's Quest. Dude, that trailer was freaking great. And that has potential to be one of the best upcoming VR games as well. So I was so happy to have that one with a new gameplay trailer on our showcase. Honeypot. They had a sick animation at the start of theirs. This game is hard. I even saw people in the comments going, I was not expecting this amount of lore from oh, they crushed it. I thought that was a great opening.

SPEAKER_01

That was the most lore intent intensive trailer on the showcase. So if you had any questions about your purpose, they answered it.

SPEAKER_00

I think that was great. And you know how it is uh watching these showcases. We watched them so many times, so many drafts of it. It goes from point version 0.1 to version 1.0. Like there's a lot of drafts in between there. And I always loved this trailer, every draft of it. Sky Legends, they they included their launch trailer as well, too. I know how excited you are for that game. Pedal Rebel VR, this dude's a madman. I loved his trailer. It was like a montage of people talking about the game, including us, Let's Talk Oculus, as well as other people on stages. You literally use a bike, like a stationary bike. I believe there's ways to play it without the stationary bike as well, too. But he's gamifying exercise. He's a madman, and I'm all for it. Brain Symphony, that was a VR Meditation game. Got a new gameplay trailer from System Critical 3.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Graphics are looking fucking sick in the game as well, too. Crazy tight. A couple PSVR people uh commented and shared the trailer saying that that was their most anticipated from the showcase. The games look like it's coming along really great. Warchasm with a new gameplay trailer as well. Project Nova, they included their launch trailer. Uh great looking game. And then Exoshock closed out their showcase because there's no better way than to end a showcase than with Exoshock, who for our first ever Rough Talk VR showcase, we did like, I think it was 11 minutes of raw gameplay from them. Yeah, freaking great. So thank you to all the studios that participated with trailers. Thank you to our sponsors. We had Binary Mill with Survive the Night, Sugar Madness from Jolly Co., we had Clonk from Bearhammer Games, and we had Shell Games as a sponsor as well. Thank you all for that support. Thank you to everyone that tuned in and watched. Uh, and again, just a huge thank you to all the studios that participated. Participation in our showcase specifically is free in today's market. There's not that many ways to freely market your game to a dedicated VR audience.

SPEAKER_01

So no, it actually disclosure costs us money to put on something we don't charge for. And full disclosure, it's not free for us to put on what we don't charge to get. So I get why people do charge, but no, that's not our MO.

SPEAKER_00

We we fund just completely off of the optional sponsorship.

SPEAKER_01

Yep.

SPEAKER_00

Uh so thank you to all the studios that participated. Thank you to everyone who watched. You know, there's always a thousand things I wish we did different afterwards, but uh all said and done, I think this was a great showcase. Our next one will be in December, exact date. That'd be even better to be determined. But stay tuned for that. And huge thank you to the the news coverage we got from this as well. It's like I said, pretty surreal to see us dominate the upload VR homepage like this. Uh, and it's makes me feel like we did something really good for these studios as well, too, getting all this coverage for them. So thank you to everyone. Thank you to the viewers, thank you to the studios, thank you to our sponsors, thank you to the writers. This was a great showcase, all in all. If you haven't watched it yet, it's available on replay on our YouTube channel. Definitely check it out, help support us in that regard. And other than that, we hope you all have a great rest of your week. And we'll be sure to check in next week with our full thoughts on this oblique custom molded view. Mine is different than yours. If you buy one, it's not going to be molded like my face, unless we got the exact same face. Pretty freaking cool concept. So, other than that, subscribe, raise five stars, join the discord, the Patreon, code word rough talk vr at checkout on games and apps and headsets on the MetaQuest store. And enjoy the rest of your week. Ciao, ciao.
