Welcome to another episode of Rough Talk VR, a weekly podcast with in-depth game reviews, exclusive developer interviews, and the latest MegaQuest and virtual reality news. We join our hosts, the Fallout Sun team of D Scruffles and Stratus today, as they spend another episode breaking down and discussing the world of virtual reality.

SPEAKER_02

Hey, welcome to this episode of Rough Talk VR, coming at you with another edition of VR News, talking the latest and the greatest in the world of VR. Now, you'll notice we are remote again because, as we've been saying the last few weeks, we are on the final stretch of the new studio. Bases are loaded. Bases are loaded. Yeah. We got uh probably one strike. What's his name? David Ortiz used to play for the Red Sox, right? Big Poppy. Big Poppy. We got Big Poppy at the plate, ready to hit the Grand Slam. We have like literally two feet left to sand down. And then we're primering tomorrow. We're doing primer. And then it's painting the following week. Like we're there. You think we can get the primering done in a day. Tomorrow. Yeah, 100%. You're like, a coat will take us 40 minutes. I'm a little skeptical.

SPEAKER_01

No, you'll see. It's gonna roll right on.

SPEAKER_02

I hope I am incredibly wrong. And we I think it'll based off of your estimations, it'll take us longer to clear out the garage than it will to actually do it. Most likely. Okay. The first coat for sure.

SPEAKER_01

Well, then I am. No, because the hardest part of painting is truthfully like the trim work. You're doing it in houses, and sometimes you know you got shit around. Or in my case, like very rarely do I ever I never tape. I'm really good with painting out the brush in.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, you were making a joke last week about it. You're like, if you're not a good painter, you need to tape.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, you're like, do you need to tape them? Like, if you're a bad painter, you do. I mean, there are situations where you would, you know, flat out. But I dude, I did two rooms here, no tape. Done a whole bunch of painting with no tape.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

So in terms of order of operations, we have primer tomorrow. Yeah. Then we'll have paint the next week. Next weekend. Then we're moved in. And then then yeah, then it's all decorating. Yeah. Then we can start to put up our wall from our we can finally put the names on the I know, dude. I am so freaking excited. We're we're, you know, the the finish line is in sight, and then we'll stop being remote, and we'll actually be able to do uh an episode from the studio. That's gonna be cool.

SPEAKER_01

So Spoon goes on the wall, doesn't he? Spoon goes on the wall. Should I think Mrs. Spoon should go on the wall? But I think he told us to put Miss Spoon on the wall, too. So I think what we should do is we'll do Miss Spoon, but we'll do an actual spoon for Spoon Fed instead of his government name or Spoon Fed. I think that'd be fed in right a little or gold spoon.

SPEAKER_02

How's your doodle skills feel these days? Because we could always doodle on like uh Stewie head and then put Stewie's name across Stewie's head, you know? Stewie from Family Guy, you know, and then you add the word Stewie. We could jack that. That wouldn't be hard. Yeah. Not ideas, but we're excited. The finish line is insight. I'm so excited. My my vision is that we do a rough-thon this year from the new studio, obviously, in uh as well as all of our next episodes. And dude, our next showcase we do, we're gonna be able to record our speaking lines for the showcase in the except Pete. I am so excited. It is the final stretch, and now this is probably gonna be a quicker one uh on our end today. Twofold. One, we have to get up early to to do all of our primering and and really stay on track. We've we've we've cut out a lot of weeks these last couple weeks by spending the whole Sunday doing this instead of recording on Sunday as well. So we want to finish strong, so we'll we'll need to get a good night's sleep. And also, in case you're not in the rough talk VR Discord, which my first question to you is why are you not?

SPEAKER_03

The shame.

SPEAKER_02

Shame. The shame if you're not in there. I posted a picture today on Saturday that I got a new member of the family, Quincy. He is a cute little puppy, he's about five months old, and he is a ball of love. He's adorable, dude. I can't wait to see him tomorrow. Yeah, you get to meet him tomorrow. He's he already he we were on a walk with him and he met my neighbors, and he's you know, all wagging his tail, excited to see them. So if he's not excited to see you, then he's just in a bad mood because I have excited to see the neighbors.

SPEAKER_01

It's my mission in life. Yeah, he'll be his best friend. He'll get my digits just like I gave Reg. He'll know it's up just in case. I'll give him a lowdown.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Yeah, still miss Reggie. What a good boy that that guy was. He he has uh Quincy has big Quincy has big paws to fill, to say the least.

SPEAKER_01

I mean that little guy, and I dude, I saw his disposition, not in person. I just glitched out for a second. Um you didn't unlock it. You entered the matrix for a second. I gotta it's a Meta Horizon link that's popping up asking me if I wanna I don't know why, I'm not doing anything. Oh, like the desktop app? Yeah, yeah, it does that for me all the time. Sometimes it can be annoying. But no, the the fact that you guys are opening up your home and hearts to him and he looks adorable. And dude, he looks at such peace for taking a cross country road trip and getting a forever home. Come on.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, he came up from Houston on a truck. We scoop we we met in a petco to get him. It was so funny. Barks with an accent.

SPEAKER_01

Mark.

SPEAKER_02

It was like a drug deal for a dog, you know. It's like meet me at the Petco, Windsor, you know. Hey, me not gee, boy boy.

SPEAKER_01

Like, hey, this isn't going down like I thought. This is some cartel shit.

SPEAKER_02

But stopping and getting cash before it, you know.

SPEAKER_01

Dude, if the dog's healthy and wealthy and wise, then I don't care who delivers it to me. You know, money's money.

SPEAKER_02

And he is such a good boy, so yeah. Yeah, definitely wanna definitely gonna spend some more time with him tonight. So this is like I said, not gonna be most likely. I mean, look, the episode's still young. Is most likely not gonna be one of our 90-minute run throughs, but the show must go on. Like we have we still have quite a bit to talk about today in terms of news, including this one, which I was so excited for from developer creepyjar. They made the flash screen version, partnering with Incuvo Games, Incuvo Games. We know I would say most as the developer of Green Hell VR. And creepyjar is the developer of the flash screen Green Hell, but Green Hell is not Creepyjar's only game, and they are continuing their partnership with Inkuvo to bring another creepyjar game to VR through Incuvo games called Star Star Rupture. And full disclosure, I never played Star Rupture. It's kind of like an introduction of the game to me, which is always shows the power of bringing these games to VR, is that you are going to reach an audience that you know never never experienced this game, but it is described as a first-person open-world base building game with advanced combat and tons of exploration where you can play alone or in a group of up to four friends. So that is freaking exciting. It's gonna be coming to the MetaQuest. This sounds like right up our alley, right? Base building co-op.

SPEAKER_01

My god, yeah, dude. You had me at base building because not gonna lie, I'm taking a little break from Grimm. We had a uh I'm dead, I'm over it. Fuck the community. Fuck 'em. Fuck them, I say. Except there's except for the handful of cool ones, man. Tweaker's an asshole. I'll tell you right now, whoever that kid is in human, he is a human being, he's a psychopath. He should be red flagged on every job application out there. Dude, I'd spawned in the other day. Spawned. And there's a dude standing there already, like he knew I was gonna spawn there. I still know how he did that. And he's got the bow drawn. He's all literally laughing like that. And I forgot my mic was off, and I'm like, really? I just spawned in. I got my arms in the air, and he fucking foom. So I just bum rush him like a madman, and he shoots me, and then I just hear and it's like Buddy's standing there, and that fucking idiot from the other night. I'm going to raid you. He spent like an hour of his life just standing at our front door. I'm going to read you. Unfortunately, the final straw for me, dude, was the base we built the other night on day one, and the afternoon of day two, it is completely leveled and killed, and we are dead. I'm like, I'm out. Um, you know, if you don't want to help build your your your community up as a player, you know, I mean, I got my own Rust server. I can go chill in there and base build all fucking death.

SPEAKER_02

Rating is definitely part of the game, but yeah, dude. To to a strong amount, the game the game's worst enemy is its own players.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it's so weird. It's really, it's really, I didn't think it would be.

SPEAKER_02

And then people will be like, not enough people play this game, but it's like, look at how you behave in it. And you'll see.

SPEAKER_01

But when it's fun, we're having so much fun. Oh, it's great. But my thing is, is like we don't start trouble and we try to find a nook where people aren't like it's all hot. So it's like, hey, and and I'll be the first to say the last the the day before wipe, or even the day before that. I get it, you know, go ham. But the day or like you're fucking naked and you just spawn in and just like instant kill, like it's just weird, it's very strange. It's like that's not normal. So not normal that uh if I go into a like hundred person Rust server, that won't happen in that same same capacity. It's very bizarre. I had someone come up to me, I was scared shitless, and it was wipe day, and he was all jumping, he's like, It's wipe day, dude, it's wipe day. Oh my god, it's awesome! Have fun, good luck. You know what I'm saying? Like both on the same playing field here. I'm just a little peeved, so I'm over it for a little while. I gotta walk away from it because I'm getting a little there's no reason for me to get pissed about something I love, so I'll let other people love it because you want to gatekeep it so people can't love it. So enjoy.

SPEAKER_02

No, the game force enemies is community, but yeah, man, for Star Rupture, the game has is very well received on Steam, the flat version. It's got 6,000 ratings with a very positive rating. It's only been out since January as well, too. So this is an overall new game being brought to 2 VR.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, dude. I I love so far. I mean, on paper, it sounds pretty damn good, right?

SPEAKER_03

Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_01

So I'm excited for it.

SPEAKER_02

It does seem like it's a quest exclusive, at least for now. And also, we're saying that Star Rupture is currently in early access on Steam, the flat version. Uh, and it's set to leave early access in 2027. I wonder if this VR version is going to launch in correlation with the full launch. That would be cool. I'm just speculating there. There's no the store page for the game's not even up on the meta quest, and there's no news on any release window or anything like that. But this game looks freaking fun, and Kuvo crushed it with Green Hell. Green Hell launched pretty damn good. And then to where it's at now with all the updates, the co-op they've brought, all the DLCs, just overall quality of life enhancements, it went from a a pretty good game to a damn good game. Like one of the best co-op experiences in VR. So unfortunately for Inkuvo, I have high I have high hopes for the game. Like my my ex high expectations is what I should say for this one.

SPEAKER_01

Um I feel they'll deliver. I think so. 100%. I I feel it.

SPEAKER_02

I wonder how much of the systems that they've already developed for Green Hell, it's gonna feel like not a reskin Green Hell, but you're gonna tell it's be able to tell it's from the same developers, you know. I'm I I'm just curious.

SPEAKER_01

They have a shit ton of build mechanics already down. I know, you know, it's like, and I mean it's not new for a studio to take current working mechanics and put them over. So I mean, reskin to a different world and different things to build and a lot more things to build, and it it has a lot of potential.

SPEAKER_02

Their Steam pages says explore the deadly planet, build to thrive, and fight to survive. Uh looks like you fight off hordes of aliens that come at you and attack your base and stuff. At least it looks like they attack your base. I need to go and play the flat version, it looks really fun. But uh, the relationship between Inkuvo and Creepy Jar continues, and this game looks freaking awesome. That's actually their only two games uh for Creepy Jar, Green Hell and Star Rupture. So Incuvo's getting them both. Cool stuff.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, so I got beyond cool stuff, and this is Forefront's update version 4.0.153 that brings honestly like probably over 50, and I'm not exaggerating, 50 like updates that don't really quality of life stuff, audio stuff, but they've they've literally it's a massive update. But the biggest part of the update is of course a new map, and it is called Mojave, as in Mojave Desert, but just known as Mojave. So you're also getting a six shooter called the Marshall, the Marshall Six, and it will have the ability to upgrade because when I heard revolver, I'm like, I'm out, don't want a six shooter, but you will be able to unlock a speed loader, so that's a game changer. If if you've never operated a speed loader, the bullets come already in a little in a little set, and you just literally pop them out and chink, they're in. It's the quickest thing you'll ever do. Uh, they've also added, and this came from the community, like highly asking for it, is the ability to um drag a player. So why would you want to drag a dead player? You ask. So this doesn't just mean you can drag like your buddy to a safe spot and then like revive them. I totally get that, but you can also drag the enemy and keep them from possibly being revived, which is freaking awesome, dude. You drop someone in front of you, you know, you can just drag them away. Holy shit, I'm I was dying laughing at that. And I've seen some funny ass videos posted already on their IG about it, so it's pretty good.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I was I agree. I was dying. I was like dragging a player I did not think we would see come to this game.

SPEAKER_01

Hell yeah, man. Uh for PC VR players, uh, ambient particles and moving trees for all platforms. So that's pretty huge. And dude, again, and over 50 uh updates as upload is categorize them so graciously from general weapons attachment updates, gadget and perks, vehicles, maps. These are all um little touches and fine tunings they're doing. Added a warning in voice settings when microphone permissions aren't enabled. Huh. That's awesome. Yeah, there's just so much. It's it's a ton. But most importantly, new map.

SPEAKER_02

This is one of the best VR games, especially for PvP shooters, and it's just keeps getting better.

SPEAKER_01

And amazingly, you know, while they're doing forefront, they're working their asses off on other games. So, like, I know. Are you fucking kidding me, dude? My fear was my fear was that this was gonna come out, and then you know, when I heard that the other stuff they were working on, and I'm like, oh no, is forefront gonna suffer? And it's like, not at all. Go check out the whiteboard the next time you go in. And we gotta go in and check out this Mojave map.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I was too busy getting frustrated and grim. We gotta test out the dragging too. Just gotta get myself in a situation and be like, dude, come over here, drag me.

SPEAKER_01

Oh no, I want to be like, dude, let's drag his ass out of here because you and I are real good, you and I are real good at getting bases. And you know how it is. Sometimes like one person will come over to try to take it. Now we own you. We'll just start dragging them, just don't let go. Oh, imagine if you could drag him into like a copter. I know. Just drag them into the transport. Every time someone downs someone, just lower the copter and drag them into it. Somebody stays and holds them.

SPEAKER_02

Drag an annoying teammate to a different part of part of the map. Get out of here.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, kick them out in the enemy's right over the enemy's base. Oh, dude, that's awesome. I don't think you can drag them in helicopters yet. No.

SPEAKER_02

The thought is all that matters. This is this is a great one. And there's so many quality of life improvements that they've done in this update as well. Not even funny. Yeah, they're crushing it. Definitely gotta go back in and check this out. No news on the PSVR2 version yet, but you know they're cooking with it.

unknown

It's gonna be so good.

SPEAKER_02

The quality of the game when that comes to PSVR, it's already gonna be. It was it was in a great spot when it launched on Quest and Steam. But all this stuff is already gonna be in the PSVR2 version, too. No, I'm I'm so excited to see where this goes. I was worried that they were gonna be done with it with updates when that whiteboard filled up, but new map, new features, quality of life. These guys are cooking, as always. Cool stuff there. You know what? Let's take a moment before we get too deep into the woods of things. Let's take a moment to give a shout-out to our on-air shout-out peeps on our Patreon tier. So, as always, huge thank you to the peeps on our on-air shout-out tier. And let's get back to the news.

SPEAKER_01

So, real quick, if I can interrupt you, give a shout out to Live Open Mike for being the new co-host of Let's Talk Oculus. I know Samson. Congrats, taking over for Dan. That is huge. I say taking over, he's not taking over. He made that clear. He's taking over. Now, you know, love Dan, but you got one coming for me, son. So yeah, taking over. But kudos to live open mic.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, and be huge props to upload VR for allowing. Like, they're not like, no, you can't do content creator stuff.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, I'm sure there obviously, you know, there's some common sense stuff that probably has to get mentioned when you do that, which is we'd prefer that you did not do this, this, or this. But I'm sure it's just stuff of like speaking out against, you know, like definitely don't want to shit on your own company, but yeah, he goes on and just rags on upload VR for two hours. Let me tell you how it really is. Nah, wouldn't be that way. No, I'm happy for him.

SPEAKER_02

Comes out with free Ian headed shirt.

SPEAKER_01

I'll even say it. I predicted it.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, you did. And I was like, Oh, I don't think it will be him because upload VR said it's the only thing that makes sense.

SPEAKER_01

So what are you gonna do? Pull pull somebody out of the hat, you know, it just made sense.

SPEAKER_02

What an interesting turn of events where like two years ago I would have thought by now that there would have been like so many VR podcasters, but like when you go through this, you're like, Well, who's he gonna pull in? There's like kind of a a smaller list than you would think for these days, and and Mike was definitely full near the top of there. So yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Cool stuff. Walked away for other opportunities or the next shit.

SPEAKER_02

They drop so fast. We've seen him go from a content creator to working at actually. Well, in fairness, when we first met Mike, he was working at Wedger with three pound games. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. With Robin. Mm-hmm. Working with a rock star.

SPEAKER_02

A literal rock star.

SPEAKER_01

For those who don't know, now you know. Yeah. A literal rock. Oh, I encourage you to listen to the idiot the videos, the interviews.

SPEAKER_02

Robin is a legit rock star. Yeah. From that and to really talk to her about that shit. Yeah. Really going bigger into content creation, then upload VR. Now he's taken over. He's yeah, we'll say that. Taken over. Let's talk Oculus. So cool stuff. Yeah. Good job.

SPEAKER_01

I heard rumor he's replacing Samson and like Tom fucking route. No, I'm happy, Sam. You know what? Honestly, like, truth be told. I mean, they've had you know, they had a pretty good relationship for a lot of years. I mean, they still do. It's not like it was like, oh my god, it's a falling out. No, we started our podcast within a week of each other as well, too. Yeah. Isn't that weird? 100%. I think it's awesome. You know, we've we've met each other a few times. We got to meet Dan uh two years ago in in Boston. Boston, strong arm to come down. So it's it's always like it's gotta be shocking when somebody's walking away for whatever reason they choose to. Doesn't matter. Hey, I want a million dollars. Well, that's great. I don't want to do this anymore. Okay, it's great. But for the other person, I go, oh man, it's gotta sting. So at least there's no momentum being lost because you know how it is. You disappear for 30 days, 45 days, you might as well have just been gone a year. It's really strange. So they can keep their community alive and active, and you know, I'm happy for them. Yeah, good stuff there.

SPEAKER_02

Yup. Well, continuing the news, a new game popped up on the Meta Horizon store with an August 2026 release window. So, really right around the corner. Couple weeks, yes, launching on August 6th. We have Discovery Rogue Planet. It is going to be a sci-fi narrative first-person shooter coming to both PC VR and MetaQuest made by developer Immersed Mind. This game looks very well polished. You're gonna the game takes place on a planet called Rogax. It is a frontier planet filled with aggressive aliens in dangerous environments. You're gonna take up risky missions in abandoned settlements, forgotten mines, swamps, and heavily guarded cities while unraveling the world's secrets. Uh the the release announcement of the game does say that it's not a wave shooter or anything like that. It seems like it's gonna be really about exploring the environment. So good stuff there. I'm very excited for this one. And right around the corner, coming August 6th.

SPEAKER_01

No crap. That's dude's literally weeks away.

SPEAKER_02

Like right around the corner.

SPEAKER_01

I'm intrigued. I'm just liking that new stuff is coming, it's not looking too shabby. The the end year is looking pretty good. Totally. So curious what hidden gems might be around the corner. So uh game we love, love it a lot. Ragnarok. Yes, they are one of the slower studios in the rhythm game. We'll say tops that do drop music packs compared to other ones, such as Bead Saver and would argue synthwriters and shit. But they've released a couple of new songs and they are free. So you are going to get 2020's Strange. A lot of these might not mean much to some people, but if you play it, I promise you you like it. Because I don't always know the tracks, and then I hear it, and I actually own a few now. So 2020's Strange Land by Mr. Misery, and 2006's Hard Rock Hallelujah by Lordy. So I already know that one's gonna be fun as hell. And due to licensing, they have changed out the tutorial song from Call of the North to Erebor. So license expired, but they were able to replace it with something else, and that's just the way it goes. But they're keeping it alive and strong, and I'll tell you what, it is one of the top rhythm games out there. I could say top ten very comfortably because there's more than ten. But top five, I would say, for sure. Good stuff, yeah. Yeah, for I mean it's free.

SPEAKER_02

One of our one of our music favorite rhythm games. Dude.

SPEAKER_01

Come on. Is the still hop in there and play it occasionally as well, too.

SPEAKER_02

That specific song, too.

SPEAKER_01

Still waiting for someone to drop in a Gata Davida in a rhythm game. I I dare you. It's like so long. The extended cut. Those two that studio is absolutely crushing it though. Oh, Wanda Dev? Wanda Dev? Yeah, because it's not like that's all they do. And everything they do is different. There's nothing like cookie cutter going on. Dude, Ragnarok, how fucking good. Yeah, absolutely love it. Nope, and still dropping. But if you're curious why they they uh take a little longer, they don't even, according to them, they don't even start mapping shit until all that licensing is worked out. And I get it, because if you put in all that work and then they're like, no, Rolling Stones will not do business with you. The bike said, no, you gotta wait for the ink to dry, right? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Which means that there's been probably times in history where that wasn't the case, and people are spending resources doing things, you know, thinking, which is good, like you know, dude, guns and roses, bro. And then they're like, no, they don't want they don't want to be in your game. Matter of fact, they don't like Vikings. It's like, oh but their choice of music and what they've they brought, there's so much in there. Love it.

SPEAKER_02

So kudos, good stuff there, you know. So my next one, one of the most active games in VR, Golf Plus. That's in partnership. That's no joke, dude. They're always crushing it. In partnership.

SPEAKER_01

Another one, listen to our first interview with with Ryan Engel, dude. Mm-hmm. And some of the roadmap, and oh, I probably not he's like blown that out of the water.

SPEAKER_02

Golf Plus, they have launched a partnership, or in partnership, I should say, with Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews. They're bringing an official VR Open to Golf Plus. The grand prize winner of this will receive a trip to St. Andrews in 2027. The the tournament started last week, technically.

SPEAKER_01

You know how good people I I I just the scores are gonna be so ridiculously good.

SPEAKER_02

Dude, this is a cool thing. They're the players are competing on the Royal Burkdale course, their newest DLC. And yeah, the the winner of this open wins a trip out to St. Andrews. That's freaking cool.

SPEAKER_01

That is very cool. I I I saw that instantly. I hate getting like jealous. But who can I blame? I'm not that good. Then I was like, I could try. Like, no. You know your boy said this golf food jade, and it ain't you, man. You ain't going nowhere. They have anything for last place?

SPEAKER_02

Uh, I don't know, but all I know is that uh the grand prize of winning it is open to all who participate. It says entry into the grand prize drawing will be open to all golf plus players that compete in the VR Open. So if you compete in it, you have a chance, then they're gonna do a drawing for the winner that that gets to fly out.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, that's really cool. Yeah, no, that's really cool. That fares it up a little, give you a little bit of fighting chance.

SPEAKER_02

And hopefully, this is the start of many things to come with them. I think that that's huge. So good stuff from golf plus always staying active and innovative, and in this one, very involved with their community there.

SPEAKER_01

Cool stuff. Not even funny. The most realistic golf too I've ever played in VR. So on the gross scale, I'll make this short and sweet. I think everyone's heard this. They heard it made its round pretty heavy at the start of last week. Looks like y'all's got yourself a pervert working in your studio, you do, but I'm talking about tactical assault, VR, and I will say that they are trying to keep this game alive. So, regardless of the fact that their head developer, Jarvis, I don't want to even dignify him with anything because he is a real scumbag, eh? Uh, he basically in 2020 got arrested. Now it does seem he didn't do anything of the nature other than try to solicit a minor for sex, but I don't know what you mean by that.

SPEAKER_02

He did try, he tried to.

SPEAKER_01

He tried to. I'm saying he didn't have sex with the minor in this charge, he just tried to solicit what he thought was a minor prostitute, so it still has the ick faster factor because you and I were talking uh earlier in the week, and we're like, the grossest part is is that he got caught, meaning that if he didn't, he would have done it. So he is the like I don't know, man. So regard long story short, I guess nobody knew this. Wink wink, apparently. I don't know. I don't, you know, I'd like to think nobody knew this because, dude, it's pretty heinous. If in fact people did know that um he was involved in this, but shame on you. But obviously, the fallout from this has been ginormous. They lost their publishing agreement with 2080 games, they had a really strong relationship with Ghost of Debor, who uh Combat Waffle Studios, who had you know, they were helping to promote the game because they believed in it, and they had they literally shut their fucking servers off and spent the better part of the day stripping their game of any any mention and or even remote glimpse of tactical assault vr. So the fallout's just been epic, regardless of the fact that you know the community obviously still wants the game to survive. And of course, without mention, you know, he has stepped down, he's no longer involved. But just fucking weird, dude. 2020, and somehow, like I mean, I saw our Discord blow up with you know, didn't they do background checks? And it's like it, you know, you're dealing with publishers and other people who certainly aren't gonna do background checks of employees of other companies, right? So it's just it just sucks. Because yeah, I mean allegedly the finished product was gonna be pretty damn good.

SPEAKER_02

And it really comes down to a few things. Like, did the other people working there know about this?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, that was that was my biggest one.

SPEAKER_02

If they did, that is someone did, dude. Yeah, well, nobody knows is he the owner of the company? You know, obviously he can't be prevented from being hired if he's the one starting the company. Yeah, but if you know about it, you're more than welcome to not work there. Like, I can't help but think that the community discovered this, but nobody there knew about it. That just seems unbelievably unlikely to me.

SPEAKER_01

It's weird in the world of Google when people will just randomly Google people's names, anyways.

SPEAKER_02

If you've been arrested and picked up on a sting option, yeah, no, nobody nobody in the company typed him into Google even a fucking mugshot and everything. I mean, that was quick to come out after, right? And when you dig into it, it's like he hit up what he thought was a prostitute, but it was an undercover agent.

SPEAKER_01

He thought it was an underage prostitute.

SPEAKER_02

Well, it started with just a prostitute, well, then she and then the undercover agent goes, I'm 15, is that a problem? And he's like, No, not for me, not a problem with me, and then continued to pursue it, and then went to go meet up, and then that's when he got nabbed.

SPEAKER_01

So, my question was also is like usually when you get caught for something. Did you tell me you roam in the streets looking for a prostitute? No my god, that's my first time.

unknown

Right?

SPEAKER_01

No, it's the first time you get caught. That's always the case. It's very few people, it's the first time they do something and they get caught for it. The hell. Oh, I'm sorry, first time I ever did it, I'll never do it again. No, it's like the 82nd time I did it, and damn it, I got caught. And then people wired like that will think if that's really the case, well, I did it 82 times before I got caught. Maybe I'll do it 60 more. You know, it's weird, dude. Now I love when our our local paper, I'm sure they do across the country, but when our city picks up prostitutes and Johns, they show the photos of the Johns, never the prostitutes, it's always the Johns. It's like, damn, dude, what the fuck is wrong with people?

SPEAKER_02

That's such an embarrassing one, too. But it's one thing if you think it's an adult. Where this takes a whole different level is the the I'm 15. Is that a problem? Nah, nah, bro. That's cool.

SPEAKER_01

I was just here for a hooker. I wasn't gonna ask age. I mean, and and and then you know, gross factor, if you're driving around the streets looking for hookers, you probably don't really care about age. One way or another, she probably could have said, Look, I'm 82. Probably said, When look, I really don't give a shit.

SPEAKER_02

I think the the files of this said that he was like searching around online, not like driving around for it. He went online looking for a hooker. Jesus.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_02

Found some contact information online. Oh, probably some Craig Craigslist shit or something. Yeah, and it was an undercover agent. Which means that they had him, right? They had him. And then that means this agent decided to go, let's see if let's see if we can get him even more. And he was probably the agent was probably like, I can't fucking believe how fucked this guy is, you know.

SPEAKER_01

It was it was one person at the keyboard and like a bunch of people standing around holding coffees, being like, no, no, no, no, no. Tell me you're fucking 15, dude. There's no fucking way he's gonna be this. I got 10 bucks so you don't take the bait on this one. He took the fucking bait, dude. You know, they're just gonna push it as far as they can. But I mean, at the end of the day, the guy is legit a scumbag, dude.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, absolutely. I think it was if you go on the Ghost of Tabor Discord, there's quite the message from Scott that I wasn't gonna bring it up, dude.

SPEAKER_01

It was no Scott's a very listen, Scott's very passionate, very opinionated, very opinionated, and we'll just say that uh the death penalty's on the table for people like that. Child molesters and such. Well, I mean, honestly. We all have our own opinion, and I'm not gonna say I necessarily disagree with Scott's opinion. I'm just not gonna be I don't I don't I I can't, you know. There is no reason that that that will allow me to be guaranteed a paycheck if I express opinions, you know.

SPEAKER_02

There is no reason, in my opinion. And look, I'm not the le I'm not a criminal defense lawyer. Like I understand the way plea deals work and such, but there is no face of the earth where it is any bit of of good that in less than six years, because this guy's been working on this game for years. So, I mean, how long was he even in jail? That's crazy. He should still be in jail. Like, we should be in prison.

SPEAKER_01

I would question whether he served any time. I know I need to confirm that. Because I mean it depends on what he was charged with. He's a registered sex offender, though, I believe.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, he got he got charged with uh trying to solicit a minor.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. So that puts you on the list right there. But whether they held him in any like capacity in bail.

SPEAKER_02

Because think how long has this game been in development? A couple years, which means like, dude, in my in my law of the land. Yeah, dude, I get it. This guy's still in prison. Like, there's no there's no way.

SPEAKER_01

I totally get it, dude. I I I like Scatsroot, it's cheaper, and don't give me that it costs more because it doesn't. Not if you do it the the Glock way, but you know, it's like, yeah, smoking gun, we got you, you know, it's over, done with. Don't know what to say. You're you're fucking sicko. No, it's it's really fucked up, and it affects a lot of people, it affects other studios, it it affects people who might have liked the product, and now because of their own personal beliefs and morals, they're like, I don't give a fuck if that game finishes or not. Just the fact that there's no coming back from it. No, no, no, no. I mean, and what PR company wants to be like, dude, we'll help you. We got Jen this one. Like, no, we're not, you know, you made your bed. And it and again, that sucks because the reality might be, and this is this is who you know, the employees who didn't know, to anybody who didn't know that worked in their company, to s to Scott and his company that were like, dude, we will fucking gladly put you because we we know how they are, dude. They're they're great human beings, man. And they're literally gonna open their home and in the sense of their game and put your product in it. And then honestly, like that's insulting.

SPEAKER_02

I bet you going forward, they're gonna be a little bit tighter with how they like, you know, in order to bring do a partnership, they're probably gonna have to now do a lot more due due diligence affecting other VR devs from quickly signing deals. 2080 games, they're they're publishing.

SPEAKER_01

I want to list all your employees, yeah. And I want to see background checks on all your employees now. Because now that that was the million-dollar question that I kept seeing on like so many different bases was like, Well, didn't they do a background check? And everyone had their own reasons why they wouldn't have. So you already know that the majority of people would say, like, no, because and it, you know, I I don't know. I don't know what the answer is because you can't legit, you know, I I'm doing business with uh this company over here. I don't know who's how many people are you know on a list or not, and are people on a list not entitled to jobs? You know, I I don't know. So it's like again, I have my own opinion, but I'm just trying to think with an open mind. So I don't I I just don't know what the answer is.

SPEAKER_02

What's your opinion of the Scott route?

SPEAKER_01

Like undeniably proven guilt, you know, people have been affected by this. Yes. You know, I don't know how deep this individual's life goes, but I'll assume it's not good. You know, and if that's the case, then yeah, I would I would lean that way. I've always called it the 85 cent, you know, we take care of it for 85 cents and you pay the bill. No three, no three hots in the cot, my friend. You know, there's just certain things that like it's just unjustifiable at the end of the day, it's children, and then then the fact that like I don't know, I don't want to keep going down the road because I'll just get more pissed off to be honest. I stayed away from like any chatter about it. I think I talked to you.

SPEAKER_02

I agree with exactly what you said. The the real scary part about this is if he was that casual of a yes to this, yeah. Yeah, what are the chances you got caught your first time?

SPEAKER_01

Uh not no, no one wasn't like I have a whim. Fuck you, dude. Not buying F for a second. So there's there's actual there's victims.

SPEAKER_02

There's gotta be a victim somewhere.

SPEAKER_01

There are, and they don't even know they're victims. That's the worst part. They they're not gonna see they never thought they're gonna see that face again. And are they sitting there going on you know tech things and reading the news and because did mainstream media like hammer this around?

SPEAKER_02

No, first thing the only news article I can find about it before it was picked up by the content creators and upload VR is uh a paywalled news site. You get two sentences in, and then it's like, I hope you enjoy our content. You know, subscribe to view the rest of this article, which I think paywalled news articles are for reasons like this, like it stops people from doing due diligence, you know.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, you you have to. I mean, thank god people got it out there though, dude. But you know, it's a blow, it's a blow for the game, blow for the employees. Both for friends and family of the company and the people, you know, it just it has a trickle-down effect that sucks for everyone.

SPEAKER_02

I guess the best case scenario would be that no one else knew about it on the company and they're all great people, but I find that to be the least likely of the situ of the possible outcomes. I feel like somebody had to know. And I feel like it's gonna be a very hard one to come back from. Like you said, they lost partnerships with other games, and publisher's gone, their credibility's gone.

SPEAKER_01

Because even if he had full disclosure to it from day one, with you know, hey guys, just so you know, you know, I got picked up trying to like prostitute child. Like, dude, it just sounds so heinous. It is. Oh, dude, dude. You know how I know he didn't go to prison? Because he'd be dead. Yes, sir. There's a pretty good standing order when you go to prison that if you went there for that and they get you, they're gonna get you. Just the way it is. So either you're kept somewhere else or you're gonna slip once, and all parties mutually agree to this, too. So it's not like uh you know, no, no, we will work as one. You know, we'll very little prison unity, but there is about that. Crimes against children and women are taken pretty serious, and that's kind of a double whammy.

SPEAKER_02

Well, I guess I'm glad that we were never big into the game or anything. I don't think we've ever played tactical assault.

SPEAKER_01

I'll say I don't know nothing about that game. I don't want to know nothing about it now. Yeah, just let it fall. But if you know, if they can work it out, which I believe they're really honest to God they're trying to do, I think you can still play it, you know. Um if they can work it out and and really make it clear the disassociation, which is you know already known, and make everybody that might care comfortable that honest to God we were as duped and we're as fucked as you all are. Because it is sad that people are, you know, they got families, dude, and they they generally there are a bunch of people who knew shit. Didn't know nothing. Now they're you know their world's caving in, and that did dude. And people are like ultra pissed, you're gonna say, like, oh yeah, I worked so all that time worked on that company, you're you can't even put it on your fucking resume because it's tainted. That's that's you know, that's terrible. The whole thing's terrible. Nothing good about it. There's no there's no positive outcome.

SPEAKER_02

And it's possible he's an owner of the company, which in which case there's no separating. Like, no, so well, won't give that piece of shit any more time a day. No, this next piece of news, I guess it's kind of hard to jump right into doo-doo doo back to the VR news from there. Uh but Elisor, I can never pronounce this company's name, Elisor Luxotica, who we most know as the owners of Ray Ban, who met as actually up, they bought like 5% stake in the company or something like that. They have just purchased French-based XR startup links, who a couple months ago they were uh whatever the technical term in France is for when your company is going under. Uh, there they were entered judicial liquidation proceeding proceedings, uh, which meant no restructuring efforts had failed, and there was no chance of survival, and it was time to start selling off their assets and IP. At that point, Ellisor, Esslor, Luxotica comes in and they have bought Lynx, who I most know as a failed startup. Now, their startup was, I mean, sorry, a failed Kickstarter. Their Kickstarter was successful, but a large percentage of people that back the Kickstarter still have never received a product, you know, six years later. Uh, and now they've been purchased. And I can't help but feel that this is a buy them to get their tech off the market and like uh we can absorb their their tech that they had. Uh, they were pretty big in pushing mixed reality before it was announced in the quest, and then obviously quest surpassed them before they were even able to get a product out. But it's it's very interesting that Luxotica is the company that purchased them. I can't help but feel like some of this is going to bleed into Meta since Meta owns a stake in the company now, right? It was kind of like Meta bought it without needing to have the name Meta buys XR competitor because they've already had trouble with that with you know FTC, FTC stepping in saying that they're trying to have a monopoly and such. Uh, and also the the founder of the company and the CEO, he is with this acquisition, he is leaving to another company called Parrot. So he's leaving off the company, and all the employees that came over with the purchase are already Luxotica employees. So Lynx is not going out of business, uh, like was previously thought. They are now owned by Luxotica. Uh, but they had a previously announced Lynx R2 headset that was announced earlier this year. I don't think that's ever gonna come out now. I think their their tech is just gonna be absorbed by Luxotica.

SPEAKER_01

But yeah, that's how it goes. Is what it is, eh? Is what it is. Okay. Hellsplit Arena, my friend. I feel like we talked about this a little bit.

SPEAKER_02

We talked about a sequel of them that was announced last week.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, that was the the labyrinth, correct? Hellsplit Labyrinth. This is Hellsplit Arena 2019, dude. VR Hack and Slash, one of the OGs, if you want to get technical, because hack and slash is still like to this day pretty damn so there was speculation that their game was actually like not being worked on and such. And there's actually upload who did the article because it's really good. Mike Johnson. Live open mic. Um they they really go into a pretty good reason of and there's something sad that I'm gonna say one sentence from it that unlike larger companies, we don't have the luxury of cutting costs by laying off employees or canceling projects.

SPEAKER_02

So it kind of lets you basically we don't have enough employees. If we do layoffs, there's no company.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, man. So they only had a couple of people working on this. I think two. Two people working, but anyways. Um, if you click on the meta store, you will see that you can buy Hell Split Arena for uh $19.99, 1,000 reviews with a 4.1. Again, came out even wow, five stars 11 days ago. Not too bad. 12 days ago, one star. Uh take it for what it's worth if you like hack and slash. But it's good to see that their project isn't dead, they're able to ride the storm, admittingly that the indie indie dev world is going through a very tough time right now. You'd have to be, you know, totally ignorant to not see that it's affected flat screen just as much as it's affected VR. I'd actually say statistically, it's probably affected flat screen more than it's affected VR, just by the sheer number of flat screen developers. But anywho, back to Hellsplit Arena. Uh they're gonna be adding sandbox mode for both Steam, not surprising, and MetaQuest. And then it'll add mod support to quest. So that's kind of huge. Mod support and quest don't seem to always go hand in hand with games. Steam and mod support kind of a given. So if it's your thing, it's your jam. There you go. Go support. Cool stuff.

SPEAKER_02

Good to see that they're still working on this game with the announcement of their sequel as well as well.

SPEAKER_01

They're somehow weathering uh I mean, again, I'd give it a read, but it's just it's a little painful. You know, they're they're hurting, you know.

SPEAKER_02

Well, it's a fun game if you want to support VRGevs, go help keep the Hellsplit Arena and Soon to Be Labyrinth devs alive. So the last piece of news for the day is Palmer Lucky was seen teasing what Roe de VR calls remarkably compact AR glasses, which one has to assume that these are in development at Andrew. And despite just looking like smart glasses, Palmer Lucky says that they are indeed built for full capacity AR, and they look freaking they look as thin as a regular sunglass. Like it's great, they even have like the thin, you know, wireband uh side on them. So this was posted on X uh by user Lulu Chang Miservy, and yeah, I mean this is just cool.

SPEAKER_01

We're big on we're those are Ray Ban Aviators. No shit, you're not Google. That's what they look like, right? Yeah, they look just like aviators, but damn nice, dude.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, so things are get things are escalating fast. Like we're big on wearables and smart glasses and stuff too. And it seems like Andrew's entering the market on these sometime, at least they're in development. Whether these are gonna be a military product or this is gonna be something consumers.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, dude, quite wild. Oh my god, those are slick looking.

SPEAKER_02

They are probably the thinnest I've seen yet.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, pretty obvious with the camera right there in the center, right? Mm-hmm. Wow, not good for him, man. So much talent. We need something from him that the consumer, the non-military consumer that can't afford to blow shit up, can can own. But I mean, he's good at what he does.

SPEAKER_02

Those things are smooth, and yes, I think the VR industry could really use a Palmer Lucky headset at this point in time.

SPEAKER_01

We'd throw some juice into the game for sure. But I mean, even this, if it's more than a tease. Oh man, they look nice. I guess they do.

SPEAKER_02

So that wraps up all the news. From my end, I think that's everything on your end as well. In summary of today, uh, great stuff from Ankuva with Star Rupture, Discovery Rogue Planet looks great, forefront freaking crushing it with their new update as well. Ragnarok, golf plus, tactical assault can go kick rocks, their dev scumbag, creep links has been purchased by Luxotica, Hellsplit Arena continues to get updates, and Palmer Lucky seems to be working on smart glasses. Well teasing.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, didn't say they're for us, said they're for him. Those are my AR glasses. Fucking pound salt, get your own billion dollar company.

SPEAKER_02
