Welcome to another episode of Rough Talk VR, a weekly podcast with in-depth game reviews, exclusive developer interviews, and the latest MetaQuest and virtual reality news. We join our hosts, the Father Sun team of D Scruffles and Stratus, today, as they spend another episode breaking down and discussing the world of virtual reality.

SPEAKER_01

Hey, welcome to this episode of Rough Talk VR, coming at you with an in-person live, not in the new studio, but live in studio. I wasn't doing it remote, dude, because now we got a new dog. No, no. Well no. Now you're back to coming over to record.

SPEAKER_02

We got the dog and how it is. My attitude was like, in theory, like let's hypothetically say we move in next week. Then this would have been my last in this studio recording. I don't want to do my what could be my last recording remote. Even if it's one more week, I'd still rather do that in person than yeah.

SPEAKER_01

We might have two more weeks of work. I don't know if we'll be fully moved in next week when you think of like decorating and stuff like that. But I understand the sentiment. Let's enjoy the last couple of years. Make any sense do it freaking remote between this room, the last couple years before that, the apartment. Like we've done this setup for geez, almost five over five years now. Yeah. So it's gonna feel weird to go into a dedicated studio. I'll take it too. I'd rather we're so close. We are so close. Got a little bit of primer to finish today, and then painting. And it's funny, I was listening back to the episode on Monday when it aired, and it was I was laughing listening to her. It'll take 45 minutes for a coat, you know. It took a little like an hour and a half. Yeah, but we had to spend a lot of time last week. There was so much pre-shit to do, dude. It wasn't fair, man. I I didn't recall how much more sanding was left. I thought it was just like one little section, but they ended up being more left to do. So it was quite a bit before we could actually even start primering. But yeah, we're getting so close. And you know, we were chit-chatting. We'd we'd like to check up on the guy, you know, make sure that everything's going good. Everything he's still hard at work with Spoon. We know he's got like, you know, a hundred projects flowing around through his mind.

SPEAKER_02

I'll fucking bug Spoon as much as I want now.

SPEAKER_01

Mm-hmm. I'm over the I don't want to bug him. Mm-hmm. Well, we were we had a long chat with him last week. I hopped off after an hour. I stayed on till what 11:30. Yeah, we started at like 9:30. I was chatting with him in us three till 10:30. Yeah. And then you you messaged me at like 11:30, like, yo, I just hopped off like five minutes ago.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Could have talked easily till two in the morning.

SPEAKER_01

And in classic spoon fashion, same thing when we had our interviews with him. Go to wrap it up and he hits you with the guilt trip. Like Reggie used to do when you would leave. You know, he'd be like, I guess you don't want to talk to me anymore. So you don't want to be my friend, I get it. Spoon, it's not that at all. Squeeze some info out of me and then leave.

SPEAKER_02

I get it. It's a two, it's a Tuesday night spoon. I got in the distance. I hear cats in the cradle playing or something's going on. Nah, Spoon's the best, dude. Probably not the most approachable human being, right? Let's be honest. Until he is. Until he is. But like even I, dude, I'm still. Still gonna give him a big hug if we ever see him, right? Yeah, no, I pretty much confirm that's not a good idea. Well, let's test the thing. I heard it from the man himself.

SPEAKER_01

Like, I wouldn't go uh we we heard it from some co-workers, and then we made the joke with him last week, too. I don't want to dip my toe in that water.

SPEAKER_02

You know what I'm saying? I'm good.

SPEAKER_01

But you know, dudes dudes out there crushing it. So many ideas floating around. We we definitely have to have him back on ASAP. Yeah, man. I think when we're back when we're in the new studio.

SPEAKER_02

There's nothing that we talked about, I'm gonna repeat. Um, but I think he's got the meaning of life, the secret of life, too. He's got a lot to talk. I mean, and here's the beauty of Spoon, right? We don't have to talk just Grim. Kind of a wizard.

SPEAKER_01

Dude, he's been posting a lot of PokeQuest recently, too. I don't know what that Pokemon MMO. I don't know what that is.

SPEAKER_02

Are you saying that because of Nintendo? I don't know who that is. I've never a what tend endo? No, I don't know. What's a Barrio? No clue. Wasn't he a Carpenter? Louser? Was he a Carpenter?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

He was like Russian, I think. Princess Apple. I don't know who I don't know nothing about.

SPEAKER_01

No pokey nothens. Then I know he was posting a lot of videos on that that crossplay game he was working on too. So we gotta we gotta check check up on him on a lot of things going on in the burner.

SPEAKER_02

I don't want to talk about the the smoky pokey. I just don't trust their like their system, you know. The smoky pokey. Uh you know, dude, they catch wind of shit. They get real they're like Disney.

SPEAKER_01

Disney will sue a mom pa cake shop. Dude, I don't give a fuck.

SPEAKER_02

They don't want they don't care about your stuff.

SPEAKER_01

Some 80-year-old lady making a cake, she puts Disney ears on there. They'll they'll knock down the door.

SPEAKER_02

You're not gonna get a letter going, hey, that's fantastic, but no, it's gonna be a feed you to the gators that are in Disney World, you know? Yeah, no, I we we definitely gotta. I I think Spoon should be our first interview in the studio. Yeah, 100%. Yeah, our first first interview.

SPEAKER_01

When we were chatting with him last week, too, he told us that we should kick things off with a rough a thon. 24-hour one, too. A 24-hour told Tracy she lost her fucking mind.

SPEAKER_02

She's like, 24 hours? I go, you're not gonna stop me.

SPEAKER_01

I don't know if we do that. I don't know if we do that first things first, but I've been thinking we'd need to do another rough-thon this year. I liked how we did it last year. I did feel like when all like was it actually happening, if it went by so fast with the way we did it with interview scheduled, game streaming, and such like that. And then I know we were giving away keys throughout the whole thing. If we did a longer one, like a 24-hour one, it was a lot maybe it would be better to do like a here's a dedicated two hours just to keys instead of doing it sporadically through the whole thing. We kept running out of time doing it. Although then you go then people stop watching because they don't want their keys anymore.

SPEAKER_02

It's like a fucking I'm if you're only watching for the fucking keys, I don't want you there anyway. Yeah, no, that's not fair because to me, like a lot of those stupid, there was a lot of keys, dude. That was pages, that was a lot of work. Oh, it took me days to give them all out, too. And then there were some problems, you know how it is. Fucking 100 keys, there's gonna be problems with 15 of them, right? Oh, this one says it's already used, it doesn't work, and then you get back to developers. Every single one of them stand up, though, right? Everybody got on the the wheel of fun there.

SPEAKER_01

So I don't know. No, I would I mean we definitely have to do another re-thon this year, though. I don't know if we do it well the first week.

SPEAKER_02

We we didn't do shit for five years. That hurts, yeah. Like that's it. Came and went, that's over five years. So we can bundle it into the yeah. This is our five-year grand opening, you know, new five year celebration. Five year celebration, five more years is coming around the corner because we're already past five. You know, in other words, like we're pushing into six.

SPEAKER_01

And people were so good with uh the donations last year as well, too. That was awesome.

SPEAKER_02

Well, again, I we'll have to we have to have some names out there real easy. Come off the top of my head, spoon right off the top.

SPEAKER_01

Freaking Stewie donated as well in there. I think TPZ did as well, too. There was a lot cool. Earth Witnesses. We gotta we have to finish that wall when it's all done. We can't do another founder's wall. We gotta think of what we can offer. That's a done deal, and it can't be better than that. I know. If anyone has any ideas, drop them in the chat.

SPEAKER_02

I didn't think through future year what you get novels because that was the year one, and honestly, it would be like if Ghost of Tabor came out with uh Founding Fathers part two, and it was better than Founding Fathers.

SPEAKER_01

I know we were name on the studio wall is as good as it's gonna get. Yeah, so we gotta think of something that's I still think we should have a golden spoon first, but we'll do Mrs. properly, but I like my idea too of the Stewie head for Stewie for all the help he gave us too. With with Stewie with Stewie written in it, yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. I mean, we could do that. Yeah, but we have it's it is tough. We've we've backed ourselves a little bit in a wall of like what else can we offer? Because we you know, of course, if people want to just donate during the Ruffathon, that's cool, but it's it's cool to give something back to it as well, too. Jillion gajillion percent. So what do we do this year? I mean, we it's it's an off-air conversation, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

But I mean, I wouldn't need an answer right now, but it's good to spitball ideas and then people can comment as well. But you know, top of my head, it you could do like a $50, you get a shirt tier, which sounds like a lot, but the whole idea is to donate, right? So that's kind of what the deal is.

SPEAKER_01

I wonder how it would look. Again, this is just spitballing. If we gave a t-shirt to everyone who hit that tier, and on the back of the shirt has every person's name that hit that tier. Like you know how they do concerts, how it says every location. But will that look weird though, with you know walking around a whole bunch of people's names? Yeah, maybe that's not maybe we just have to screen names, you know. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, I don't know. Eggplant Monster, eggplant 78 beat meat. Yeah. But maybe that's not the best one. We'll we'll think of something. We'll think of something.

SPEAKER_02

But now we gotta do something. So yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Anyone's got any ideas, throw them in the chat. I'm curious. Well, we we can't do name on the wall again, though. That's out. That's locked in. It's in the past. Mm-hmm. You missed out. And we had we had some good ones too, because there was also Man, we really we we fucking we did it good last year because we get did the tier that would get your name at the end of all the for yeah. There's people who have that, yeah. And it's like, can we really do that tier again? Do we expand the list? We could expand that list, we could do that one again.

SPEAKER_02

That I'm open to because that's as easy as putting 2025, 2026. That's true, and it's there, it's just rolling and it's there for 2025 supporters. Here's our 2026 supporters, and then truthfully, like someone like me, this is this would be my problem. Like, let's say I did do a donation to get that in 25 and ended in 26. It's like I'm gonna be like, Do I not want to see my name there in 27? People are gonna think something happened to me. Yeah, you get what I'm saying? So that's a that's a yeah, that one we could do because I don't feel it's taking away from the originals, especially if they're like the you know, the original 2025, these were the sponsors of yeah, that's a great idea. Okay, that's so that's one.

SPEAKER_01

I like the shirt idea as well, too. We have yeah, like I said, it's expensive, but if you're gonna donate and you just you know, let's be honest, a 50 donation well you say it's expensive, but look, the shirt to drop ship it to print on demand is gonna be like 11, 12 bucks, yeah, plus shipping, so it costs us almost 20. The so if it's 50, we only walk away with like 30 out of it.

SPEAKER_02

That was kind of kind of the the understanding. And if you know that as the person who's donating, it actually kind of sucks because then you're like admittingly losing 20 that you're trying to donate to someone. I know. So there could be direct donation where I don't want shit, I just want to donate. I'm not looking to be part of that tier. We'd have to have an option for someone to say that, like opt out of, which sounds crazy, but there are people that do that.

SPEAKER_01

There's a solution to that. So we have the donation open and then we also keep the shirt, we put the shirt on the website for just those couple days, right? And then if they want to buy the shirt and get it there, like that. Oh, and just change the shirt price on uh the correct to fifty for those for those two days. Yeah, well, I think we the way you do it is you only sell that Ruffathon shirt for those two days. Whatever the one-day stream. So you have to buy it during the stream.

SPEAKER_02

Then that's a gone.

SPEAKER_01

The only way to get that shirt.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, maybe like the sh the arm could say like whatever.

SPEAKER_01

You're pressed because I'm wearing this uh this RoboQuest shirt. Dirt rag of a shirt. My uh my work's at me and you know, I get it though.

SPEAKER_02

You did work on it, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

For it to which we'll we'll think of it, you're thinking of it as like a creator swag bag that's like Yeah, I looked over at it and I'm like, well, that's some shit, isn't it?

SPEAKER_02

You start sending out the one when you know there's two. It's not like Eric and Skeva don't know who the hell we are. But then that I've I've like for that was just a nanosecond thought, and then I'm like, yeah, dude. No, I get it. It was an employee thing.

SPEAKER_01

I took it as you just busting my balls a bit, but you can buy the shirt, it's on the it's on the the merch store only for a couple weeks, though. It's only only on the until July. Yeah, it's limited edition. So yeah.

SPEAKER_02

But are they sending out limited edition larges?

SPEAKER_01

Man, I don't I need to check if this is large or a medium. I've I don't I don't want you to give me your shirt, dude. I put on a couple, no, it's not that. I've I used to be a medium, I might be a large now. Doesn't feel good. That's a whole nother podcast. I know. I'm thick right now. Swole. Used to compete in the 150s. My last competition, I did 190. I I don't know what to say, man. Felt good too.

SPEAKER_02

Well, of course it felt good.

SPEAKER_01

Never took double gold at 150.

SPEAKER_02

I won my weight class and the apps, the open weight. There is something to say for having a little reserve. You know what I'm saying? A cold winter comes, like you're burning, you're burning through freedom.

SPEAKER_01

We lose power for a month, you know. I got something to burn. And, and, and there's no weight classes in the gym. So you're 150, you get put with the heavyweights, you know. Yeah, 190, you get put with the heavyweights, it's a little different, you know. There's no weight classes in if I wanted to be like old school 90s sound. There's no weight classes in the streets, you know. There's not. You know, so it's nice to have a little bit more.

SPEAKER_02

Step on that scale before we go to fine pugilism, sir. I think I weigh like one 172 right now. Which isn't isn't bad.

SPEAKER_01

The worst part is from torso up, maybe my face cheeks are a little bit puffier, but they went to my my ass cheeks.

SPEAKER_02

You're gonna look like the duty does all that weird internet shit, and he's got the big ass.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, with the tight there's tight shores, yeah. Like you're trying to be that guy? People pay money for what I got. People get those BBLs, whatever's yeah. That's what it looked like.

SPEAKER_02

Smell, man. That's what it looked like. Google or search that BBL smells, you know, change your life.

SPEAKER_01

It's never the first thing that came to my mind by any means. Uh it was in the news, but I read a lot of fucking news.

SPEAKER_02

Sometimes you go down weird, you know, like, oh, this lady's suing this manufacturer because her BBL smells. I'm like, why would it smell? And then you really get into it and you're like, oh my god, this is a thing. Like, people have lost relationships because it's that bad. Uh-huh. Oh, I encourage you. Search BBL smells. Well, it doesn't help that it is. So yeah, you're natural, you're not gonna have that infection problem going on.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Oh, that's what makes it smell is the infections? Yeah, a whole bunch of gross shit. Okay, that's awesome. I'll take that off my bucket list. No, I'm just kidding. Uh, you could be a donor. How we got to this point. Oh, yeah, because the large, the large shirt. So, yes, just like this is a limited edition, Guardians Unite shirt. Limited edition. Uh, you know, maybe we do the Ruffathon shirt. We should send those out and put the I'm not telling flat to be our spend their money and put the date on it or something like that. There's ideas that we can do. So if anyone has ideas for a Ruffathon, one we'll take them. We'll we'll take all ideas to at least listen to. I guess for first we should say let us know in the comments if you're interested in another Ruffathon as a concept. And then number two, what should we offer back to the listener this time around? Also with it only being only with it only being 12 hours last time. There were some of the streams like the res night stream, I felt like could have gone longer, but we were so tight on time. Dude, the production schedule was tight.

SPEAKER_02

It didn't seem like it would be, but definitely do want to do what we did again, especially with the interviews mixed in. And dude, shit can't, you know, we have people waiting in in waiting rooms for their spot.

SPEAKER_01

It's like it was a big uh knock on wood. But would you want to do it as the same concept just longer where we do game streams, interviews, and key giveaways, but of uh just like extend out the production timeline.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Some gameplays would be nice for sure. I think it's time for me to go back to that roadcaster boom arm. I stopped using it because I didn't like that the road was just that thing's just not weighted for what we're doing here. But until it would be better until we're in the new studio, I wouldn't do shit, dude. If anyone heard some squeak and it was me tightening my boom arm because it keeps going keeps lowering. I don't know if we're even standing or sitting anymore. Yeah, we're thinking of maybe doing standing desks. That way it's like newscaster style. I'd rather stand because I'm very animated. Yeah, so we get more into it. It's like I feel like someone's trying to restrain me by making me sit. Dog, I work remote these days. Like the more opportunities I can have to stand, the better. You know, you want them hemorrhoids when you get older. Yeah, definitely.

SPEAKER_02

I want to sit as much as possible.

SPEAKER_01

So uh that's how you know humans weren't meant to sit like that. Shit like that pops up.

SPEAKER_02

Well, dude, and you look at how your what happens to your body from just prolonged sit, you can fucking die. Right? You sit too long, become one with the furniture.

SPEAKER_01

So a lot of good stuff in the planning. We're so close to this the studio finish, as you can tell, we're getting a bit carried away with our our plans there, but they tell you I want a Thomas Shelby for recording or just in general?

SPEAKER_02

No, for just real life. But I want the whole shit, dude. I want the hat, the vest, the pocket watch, the black gloves. I want it all.

SPEAKER_01

Is that Piki Blinders? Yeah. Yeah. And I don't know why. It just it hit me the other day. Have you started watching the show a lot more now? No.

unknown

No.

SPEAKER_01

You just like the look of what's that guy's name? Um I'll I'll remember the actor's name in a minute.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, Mark is Thomas Shelby. What do you don't know what you're fucking talking about? Um no, I just I I so I I was so sold on it that after two weeks of thinking about it, I finally gave it to AI, and I'm like, yo, hook me up. Put me in this 1920s, blah blah blah blah blah.

SPEAKER_01

And a whole river dried up for that. How do you feel that no guilt kids kids kids are not getting their water now?

SPEAKER_02

As I typed it, I dumped out a poll in spring. I double downed, right? So it it produced it, and I was like, I'm not not, I don't, I don't ever look at I'm not that guy that goes, Oh, I'm stunning today. So I was like, I feel like that looks really fucking good. So I went, Yeah, what does that look like? Tracy's like, Wow, that's a really solid look. So the question is, is when can you justify walking around like that? It's hard in the summer. Well, it won't be wool. I already looked into details, you don't have to get the old style wool. Imagine how fucking gross that was. So you can get wool silk. I saw some UK custom tailors that'll do it for a thousand dollars. But you'd have to go to the UK, get all measured and shit. You can buy some off the racks, but I've never bought a suit off the rack. I don't know what that's like. I I I don't understand. Like, how do you do that? It can't possibly fucking work. It's like buying a costume. You have to get fitted for a suit. But I if I could afford it, I would make that, I think, my everyday look. I would be here right now with the little skull cappy on. I don't know why. I just need to get it and get it out of my system. Wear it for a week and be like, nah, I don't like it. It's fucking shit. I don't know. I just it's a good, solid for no reason, dude. Okay, like I'm getting out of my car dressed like that with the long coat.

SPEAKER_01

But yeah, definitely thinking of doing that. And uh it's so random. Sorry. The studio is so close to being done two weeks at the latest. Well, the the the shell of it, and then it's all decorating.

SPEAKER_02

Rest ain't on me after that. You got some shit to do in there before I can even do anything.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, we got we're getting a dumpster next week, throwing a bunch of shit out. And then it's then it's a wrap, dude. My fiance has a love relationship with Facebook Market. And yes, I've free space. We need it, we need it, whatever it is, we needed it. Yeah, I'm not getting into that fight. But it's no dude. We got some shit to throw out, is all I'm gonna say.

SPEAKER_02

Dude, I just want to put it out there in the universe. I've I've been witness to like you two both going on walks to walk the dog and come back with a fucking painting. You get with you, look what we got. We saw this on this side of the road. You can fill in the dots there. Uh you got some good shit though.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yeah. A lot of my house is free stuff. Uh use fucking good though. Yeah. Yeah. Anyone's got a free standing desk. Uh I got a game controller like that once, an Xbox controller. Uh, so yeah, next I think within a month we're gonna be fully decorated in there. We just gotta start to look at desks and stuff like that. But man, it's gonna feel good. And I guess we should actually talk some VR news and stuff. That's kind of why everyone's here. Sorry for that 20 minutes of I don't know.

SPEAKER_02

You know what? I'm not apologizing. I'm gonna 50-50 it. We're here to do that. I would personally be here for the banner. To be dead honest, if I were if I were listening to us, I understand. That's why I said I'd minute the news started, I'd be like, see you guys later. Oh, my boss is calling me. I got shit to you know. Yeah, I think I think I I'm just being silly. I think a lot of people like that. And I'm sure there's others that would be like, yo, let me know when the banter's over.

SPEAKER_01

Well, that's why we put the those AI guys. That's why we put those. Timestamps in the episodes, you can see. But let's take a moment, let's just get it out now so we can just carry through the news. Let's give a huge shout out to our Patreon supporters on our on-air shout-out tier. Maybe that's something we could do with the Rough Thon as well, too. That everyone gets a name shout-out after a certain amount with the Patreon people. Yeah. For one year. It's just spitballing. But anyway, huge thank you, as always, to our Patreon supporters. Tom, Chris, and Danae. Thank you all for your continued support week after week, month after month. And don't forget to check out our Patreon. So you can join that esteemed list of Patreon supporters. And as I say, week after week, month after month, don't forget to join the RoughTalk VR Discord unless you're a bot full of great VR discussion, flat screen discussion, topical tech news, you name it, we talk it in the Rough Talk VR Discord. So check out the link in our show notes for both the Patreon and the Discord. And don't forget, you can use code word RoughTalk VR at checkout on the MetaQuest store, and you'll save 10% off any game or app on the MetaQuest store, except Deadpool. And yeah, thank you all for tuning in week after week and month after month. And I'm also, I gotta say, I'm so excited for us to be done with this project for a hundred reasons. And a big one is I want to get back to our two episodes a week, with like one being an interview. I miss doing interviews, it's been so long since we've done interviews. Spoon. I know Spoon will kick it back off. And there's so many good indie devs that I feel like, especially in the current status of Jank on the MetaQuest door that just clutters up the good releases. There's so many devs putting out damn good games that just don't get the plebiscity that they deserve. So we'd love to give them a platform again to we used to be the interview people. What happened to us? No, it's just we gotta get into the city. I know. Well taking a year. I know. Well, as soon as that's done, like I said, we'll get back to interviews in our our twice week. I miss doing them a lot too. So, a big news, big piece of news that came out last week. I was so excited about this. Meta announced, in collaboration with Xbox, the ever-growing MetaQuest Xbox partnership, which I we've said it since the beginning. Hope that this means one day we'll get VR support on an Xbox via the MetaQuest headset. Even though that that would be the next gen of Xboxes. What do they call it? Project Helix or whatever. They announced the next step of this partnership and included in a Meta Horizon Plus subscription, which gives you access to hundred plus games on the MetaQuest store. Insane value for $7.99 a year. You will also get a tier of Xbox Game Pass, which they call their starter tier, which I think is a new tier made just for this partnership. Uh, the starter tier will give you access to 50 plus games on Xbox Game Pass with 10 hours of cloud gaming each month, which I guess you could blow through pretty decently, but you don't have to stay on this the starter tier. This is just included in your already existing 799 uh Horizon Plus membership. You get games like Fallout 4, Fallout 76, you get Daisy, you get Overcooked 2, like I said, 50 plus games can cloud stream for 10 hours a month on this plan. Myself, I personally have I forget what they call it, the Ultimate or whatever, where you can stream endlessly. I remember when they first added the Xbox Game Pass app on the MetaQuest store, maybe like a year and a half ago. You're witness to it. I fell in love with it. I love cloud streaming on my MetaQuest headset. I do it both with the Game Pass and then also by uh using virtual desktop to stream my Steam games to the headset as well. Too flat screen gaming on a quest 3 is badass. You get the full, you know, what feels like 70-inch TV in front of you, a theater. Like I don't own a TV that big. I'm probably never going to own a TV that big. Great sound system coming into each ear. It's it's so much fun. So I've seen a lot more people talking about checking out cloud gaming on the the quest headset uh with this news, and I'm glad it's opening some more people's eyes to it because I think it's such an underutilized aspect of the Quest 3 headset, like it's so fun. And Meta also announced that they're working on emulation of the gamepad controller, the Xbox controller with the touch controllers. Right now, for Xbox Game Pass, you have to connect via Bluetooth a wireless gamepad, like an Xbox controller. Doesn't necessarily need to be Xbox branded, but it needs to be a wireless controller that has Bluetooth. Meta's working on making it so the touch controllers can do emulation of that gamepad, so you won't even need a gamepad on there. I think I would still prefer the Xbox controller for when I'm flat gaming on my headset, but it's cool to know that they're removing that blocker as well, too. So for $7.99 a month, $59.99 if you pay for a year, you get with your Meta Horizon Plus subscription, the standard edition of Xbox Game Pass. Pretty freaking cool, if you ask me. Yeah, if you own an Xbox. No, you don't need to own an Xbox Club game. That's right. That's the whole thing. You need the controller, though.

SPEAKER_02

You need the controller, that's it.

SPEAKER_01

Probably, right? You'd probably connect it to your meta account or something like that. But yeah, no Xbox needed. That's that was why Xbox was doing their whole marketing campaign last week.

SPEAKER_02

You started playing it.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I don't have an Xbox. Yeah, especially before I got to PS5.

SPEAKER_02

It was like Yeah, it's a good move. You don't have to pay. I'm so pissed at their their fucking menu system right now that like anything I see them spending money on, I'm like, it's pointless to me.

SPEAKER_01

You want to go record something yesterday, and you're like, I have to do this many clicks just to record, dude. And the two layers of menus is insane. Single click, double click, maybe.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, whoever it's like, we're in a fucking and now you want to you're gonna emulate sucking. I trust you to emulate a controller. Yeah, they're I don't think so.

SPEAKER_01

It's sad that the the hardware of a meta quest headset is of a quest three is amazing, but right now their their UI of their operating system is so outlandishly bad.

SPEAKER_02

I'd rather I'd rather they brought Horizon World back and pump it into my face if you give me a fuck you if you give me the ability to just poof make it disappear. Oh, there's my screen. You know what I'm saying? It was a nuisance, but I didn't have to like mind fuck the shit out of stuff to get it to go away. And then to get it worse, so I'm in a game. So last night we're in a game, the shirt you're wearing, a matter of fact. You call, got a pause, answer that. Now I've got your call message up, the game in the background, background in the menu shit up. One of them gonna have to double click, one of them I'm gonna have to single click.

SPEAKER_01

So you just clicking, clicking, clicking.

SPEAKER_02

Sometimes you make a mistake. You go fuck it. Now that one's not going away, or something else comes back. You're like, Are you kidding me, dude? What if what if like I'm being shot? I'm like, oh, I just want to answer the call and I'll jump back in. Pow, pow, pow, pow, pow, you're dead. You know, it's like and you've been using your VR headset for a while.

SPEAKER_01

Imagine if you were a brand new user.

SPEAKER_02

It's a little aggravating. I mean, they're nothing's ever perfect, and I'm not trying to hold their feet to the no, but their UI is bad, but it just doesn't make I don't understand like it's not user-friendly. How has something accelerated so far forward, which it has, and then decided we'll just take the most basic shit like on and off and open close and make it as complicated as you could be? Like, literally, someone sold somebody on complicated, like nobody said, Well, the current way works great. Can't we add all these new features but have an easy way to manipulate the I think so much of it comes down to the double double layer of menus? Yeah, it's just bizarre.

SPEAKER_01

I think if they eliminate that and it was just one layer of menu, and then yes, you can open up multiple screens from there, why not? But the the single click and double click is too much, just one click.

SPEAKER_02

And yes, you have the ability to like do do multiple screens.

SPEAKER_01

Let's be honest. It doesn't open up like that, though. When they open up the screens on top of each other, it's all like and it's not like side by side, you know, nice. No, it's like boom, boom, boom.

SPEAKER_02

So, what percentage of people really are utilizing that? Other than creators, right? Because the only people I ever see complain about shit, honestly, are creators, and it's usually for purposes of like it's making my life difficult to get shit done. So I understand, but the average person, like, are they gonna pop in a headset and be like, oh man, I wish I had four spaces for stuff to do what? What are you really doing? You're you're in here to play a game. Yeah, theoretically, right?

unknown

Uh-huh.

SPEAKER_02

I'd say and let's say you let's say you weren't again. Like, what are you putting there? Like, what am I missing? Like, so you got YouTube up? Uh Discord. I just don't understand. I'm missing, I'm missing some middle connection that makes it all worth it. It's a cool tech picture in picture, dude. Back in the day, uh 80s, 90s, where I could put a picture in the corner of my TV screen and play a video game on it if I wanted, so I'm not disturbing anybody or watch something. That was some, but it fizzled away. Why? Because is it what are you really doing? You know, like you're really watching two two TVs at the same now.

SPEAKER_01

It's like an ADHD's dream, right there, right?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, or the people have like the they've got every channel, every T a TV for every sport on, but that's not normal. The normal person wouldn't do that.

SPEAKER_01

You can do that on Paramount with UFC fights, you can do it where it's like corner both their corners. Now, here's the loophole with that. You miss commercials when you do that view, but then you have to deal with having 10 views all at once.

SPEAKER_02

So even that, which is cool as shit, but it's a little more no, I I don't use it. Correct. So it's like I quit some of these like awesome features. It's like, what's the real utilization? I remember just the simplicity of making it work.

SPEAKER_01

I'm gonna sound like an old man, like the back in my day. I remember when we first discovered the quest. We first got our quest twos. You booted it up, and everything about what you saw felt like it was geared towards premium gaming. Here's Pop 1, 29 or 1999. Here's Walk About Middle. I think Pop 1 was 29, dude. 24. I feel like it was 19, but I I don't I said 29 first, I don't remember. But like everything about booting up felt like it was gaming in your face. Everything was geared to gaming and it was paid gaming. We just need to get back to that, and I think you'll capture a lot of users again. Like it's so imagine if you hadn't fired up your headset in a year and a half, and you put it on, it updates, no, and this is what it's like.

SPEAKER_02

It's it'd just be frustrating. And then like you have to like make sure you tell it, I want my apps organized by recently used, or you are fucked finding you'll have to search every time.

SPEAKER_01

Well, especially people like me and you that are just yeah, we're loaded, we're loaded to the guilds with apps, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

And it's like I hate to be like bitching, but it's like alright, their UI is bad right now.

SPEAKER_01

It's blatantly frustrating, and we've gotten better with not having the horizon stuff shoved down your throat, but it still doesn't feel like the uh visual of what's pushed to the user when they boot up their headset is geared towards gaming.

SPEAKER_02

So one of the things that makes the Ray Band so great is it's simple to use. It can do a lot of shit, but it's actually so simple you could talk to it to use it. Hey Meta, take a picture Hey, what am I looking at? You know, no complication. I want to take a click You know, it's not difficult. So I don't know why we're taking something so simple and just really complicated again.

SPEAKER_01

The questline is for gaming. They just need to get that in their skulls. Premium gaming, boom. Should be. Don't need layers of menus, don't need five windows.

SPEAKER_02

No, no. I mean, it looks great, it's very attractive right now.

SPEAKER_01

Kids, kids are gonna find free-to-play apps anyway. They don't need the front page display, you know. Kids Gorilla Tag blew up without ever being displayed on the store. Kids will find their games via TikTok. The premium games, those are the ones that need the storefront push because the user that uses them plays those type of games, maybe aren't spending their whole day on social media. That's my thoughts. That's a much more loaded conversation, though. But Meta Horizon Plus now includes a starter edition of Xbox Game Pass. Go enjoy your cloud gaming, folks. I mean, shit, you already got it.

SPEAKER_02

Uh, all right, this is cool. I saw this drop last week and got a little excited. I am talking about, and this was built by a solo dev, uh, reality syndrome symphony is the studio that worked on this. That's a hell of a name. First name reality, sex middle name syndrome, last name studio. Makes sense. Uh, this is a VR narrative escape room puzzle game, which we love called Amelia's Escape. Not only is it you say sold, because I mean it is fifteen dollars and ninety-nine cents on both Steam and MetaQuest.

SPEAKER_01

Bit of an odd price point. I feel like that psychologically there's a big difference between that and $14.99.

SPEAKER_02

Uh, three three ratings, it has a 3.7, and that's because of two perfect ratings. And one, I'm not commenting, I'm gonna one-star you prick action. That is sad that it only has three ratings. Well, I mean, it just came out. Yeah. So we'll you know, give it a little time. And I mean, puzzle games aren't for everyone. I did see someone say in the comment um you're challenged to stay and uncover clues within the same room versus trying to get out quickly as you would in other escape rooms. So you're really, really, really encouraged to explore. Now, I heard it was a solo dev. I heard we want to start doing our interviews again once we get into the thing.

SPEAKER_01

The perfect example of the type of this.

SPEAKER_02

This is the perfect dev I would love to talk to because I well, I looked at the trailer for it. Obviously, I'm looking to see if there's spoilers. There is, I don't know if it if it really is, but there's a number you put into a keypad which they put in and you can see it. I think everything else was pretty careful with not spoiling it, but dude, the level of detail, whether or not you can interact with it or not, is pretty intense. So it's not it does not look like a janky slap together project at all. So if you like escape rooms, you want to try something new, maybe hold off for until we get that. I expect you to die. Four action at I'm at this point, I'm starting to wonder if it's I'm getting nervous. Um yeah, I'm getting a little weird. Um, but again, reality syndrome symphony 1599, Steam, MetaQuest. Go do it. I'm gonna I I want it. I want it. I don't think it's a one star by any means. If you one star and don't leave a review, you're just well we gotta go in and try it ourselves as well, too.

SPEAKER_01

But it sounds fun.

SPEAKER_02

Dude's solo dev out there looking like he's crushing it.

SPEAKER_01

And escape rooms are tough. Escape rooms are really tough, so oh yeah, you can't have errors. No, period. No, otherwise, people can't progress. You know how frustrating that is in a puzzle game? You're doing it right.

SPEAKER_02

You're not yeah, you're not gonna keep going.

SPEAKER_01

You can't work around it. So huge props for taking that on as a solo dev. Definitely want to give it a try. And I agree that's exactly the type of dev that we should be highlighting. So, my next piece of news, as evidenced by the shirt that you love, uh, from Flat to VR Studios, RoboQuest VR is now officially out on the MetaQuest 3 and 3S, and with that comes co-op on all VR platforms. So, co-op is out now on the newly launched MetaQuest version, and then co-op is also available on PSVR2 and Steam VR with crossplay across those three platforms. So if I'm playing on PC VR or PlayStation VR2, and you're on the quest, we can still play together as well. Too you join via a room code join method. And I am so happy to see this finally out on the MetaQuest. I know that there was some delays a few times. There are people, pretty much every post we did online for the game was met with comments of MetaQuest when like people were foaming at the mouth for it, and it's good to see that it has delivered. There are some some known bugs that are being worked on quickly. There's already been a few updates that have come out for the game. If you have any bugs, if you have any issues, join the flat to VR Studios Discord, and the devs are in there talking with people. If you have a bug, report it there. We have something called Feedbear, which is a a spot to leave bugs as well. We'll send you that link in the Discord. Uh, and you know, it's a collection of of bugs for devs to comment on and you know give the status of there too. You can also drop game ideas and stuff like that there, but the devs are also actively talking in the discord, so yeah, some known bugs, but it's it's quickly getting getting ironed out. Admittingly, even me and you have had a couple crashes and stuff like that. There have been a few. It's funny because it's only that video I sent you last night. It's only ever happened, I feel, when we're having our best runs. I'm I'm sour. The salt in your in your tone. So sad. You were so heated last night. Uh, but that only really is occurring in co-op as well, too, with the single player being flawless. It's just, you know, it's a complex game. So all that's getting taken care of. Uh it's it's quickly being being worked on. Expect a steady routine of updates, uh, you know, right coming out out of this response period.

SPEAKER_02

Damn, man. That's the only that's the only criticism I have. Is just I don't want to get kicked playing the funds, like we're having a blast in it.

SPEAKER_01

And in credit to typical roguelights, like you can't you don't want to be able to finish it on your first run, right? Like, that defeats the whole whole point of roguelights and roguelikes. Like, well, yeah, you gotta unlock shit, bro. Correct. And at least if we've gotten gotten booted our wrenches, which is what you use to carry to uh to get upgrades and stuff, that carries over still, like we still get that. But yeah, the game's out in the wild with a 4.8 overall rating on the meta quest store and already has 210 reviews. So if you like single player or co-op roguelights, this one is going to be, in my biased, absolutely biased opinion, one of the best on the quest store. 70 plus weapons, multiple classes, like so many different playstyles, so many different builds to run with as well. Everyone's gonna have different favorite weapons. I personally like energy weapons that are rapid firing. You love your blue gah cannon. That thing is you're a badass with it. Blah blah. There's some things that's probably good to know going into it as well. Too, like you have two weapons in the game. It's kind of easy to miss that. So instead of just switching your one weapon, you can switch between two weapons. So you see another weapon that you like. What you do is you reach over your shoulder with your right hand, your shooting hand, and you grab the grip button, but you don't grab and hold it. Grab it. Yeah, just click it. Just click once it like a trigger. Correct. And then you'll be able to switch. So you pick up one weapon, now you have your default pistol and that weapon. You want to grab a second weapon, to reach over your shoulder quickly, press the button, and then you'll have your default pistol again. Then you can change that out. So you can have like one heavy fire weapon, one more rapid fire. So yeah, we're having a blast with it. $29.99 on the MetaQuest store. Don't forget you can use code word rough talk vr at checkout. Save 10% off the game there. 4.8 overall. If you have any have any bugs or anything like that, hop in the Discord. We'll be glad to help you there. Yeah, this is uh I'm I'm curious how many reviews it's gonna have after a month. I'm I'm real excited for it.

SPEAKER_02

Okay. Uh shooter game remnant protocol. Get the fly, bro. Uh, sadly, 3.3 with 21 reviews on the quest store. Ouch, $24.99. I would have thought it would be a little bit better received from how it looks. Developers have posted a roadmap, which is huge because that I think that'll change some shit because they've been a little radio silent, but they did say in their own words, this game is in alpha during early access with only a handful of game modes. So only super fans who are interested in supporting our ongoing development should consider purchasing this game at this point. I've never seen anything any language more blatantly honest than and if you're not a fan, don't just fucking wait. You know, it's cool. But they have posted a a roadmap for their their game, which now has uh This is actually live and ready to play. So you have sandbox mode, uh attrition and last stand, two different modes for sandbox mode, and then they've posted things they're working on that are active and in progress and are currently in development, which will be a new ship called the Raptor, Capital Ships, flagship game mode. So another game mode coming, which will be nice. And then they have posted some planned, but one of the planned is locked and scheduled. So that would obviously move up in the roadmap. That'll be yet another game mode for conquest, enhanced audio and visual, which is always nice. And then PT PC play PT PC playtesting. And then they'll have some early and experimental stuff. So I won't count that as in gospel as the the rest, but in their own words, they've been quiet. It's the area they've failed the most, which is being communicative with the peeps as to what's happening. And they posted it. So there it is. It's on their you go right to their game page, and those ratings are harsh.

SPEAKER_01

If it's an alpha right now for $24.99, I wonder what the full launch price is gonna be. Yeah, but you know how it goes. You go early access like that, it should be cheaper in that period. But I like how they're honest. Like, dude, it's not complete yet. Like you will have issues.

SPEAKER_02

It's just funny because people are like one starring it from like two days ago and shit. And it's like read their own language. Like, if you're not a fan, don't buy it. If you're a fan and you're a believer, you'll deal with it because you'll know it's gonna get fixed. So you're you're really buying an investment.

SPEAKER_01

This looks like my and yours type of game, too.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, not too.

SPEAKER_01

I've I've heard mixed things. Is it single player only or is it multiplayer? Uh this is I think single player. I think so too.

SPEAKER_02

But no, no, it can't be, right?

SPEAKER_01

Right now, it's maybe maybe multiplayer will come to it in the future. I would hope. Yeah, single user. This type of game seems the best, you know, sandbox in there as well, too. Like flying around in a spaceship. Yeah, that's the shit. I love games. You can you can like you think forefront with the copter, one person piloting, the other shooting. Like, that's so fun in this style of game. So you know what? I got my eye on it, and I have I'm optimistic of the future of it. I think we might have to steal it soon so that we we can get our own thoughts on it, especially because the devs are being honest about where it's at going into it. So it's a little pricey for early access, but you know. So yeah, I agree. I that's kind of why I mentioned I feel like an alpha maybe should be $15.99, $19.99 the most, with it going up to $39 or $30 as it gets to full launch. But anyhow, it's Samsung, they're teasing a new set of their frames for their upcoming smart glasses. From iWare partners Gentle Monster and Warby Parker. So Samsung really working hard to catch up, I guess you could say, where Meta's currently at with their wearables. Uh, and I won't be surprised if we see Meta put out some frames in the next month, like they did with the Kylie Jenner ones, which were looked very similar to Samsung's. You know, I won't be surprised if we get some new meta frames in the next you know month or two that look pretty identical to these. But uh Samsung's teasing out some more more frames for their upcoming smart glasses. Uh they look sleek, they really do look nice. Like I'll give Samsung credit that much like the Ray Bans, they're working on smart glasses that are very stylish, very, you know, partnering with existing brands. They look casual. If you didn't know to look for the camera, you probably wouldn't even notice that these are smart glasses. So Samsung's really they're they're doing their best. I just think it's a tough, it's tough how far ahead Meta is with them with these wearables. But if you want an alternative brand option from a military contractor such as Samsung, uh, you can, you know, check out these as well. Uh I think that they're gonna be a little bit more than the Ray Bans as well, too, but you know, we'll see. It's cool that cool that Samsung is entering the market as well.

SPEAKER_02

No, they're chasing, but they they knew that I mean they would they clearly knew what Meta was doing before Meta announced it, just because of the way that shit works.

SPEAKER_01

They just chose to like let's see how the well, the worst part is Google could have been so far ahead of everyone with the they had Google glasses like 15 years ago. Yeah, they they were just weird though. Yeah, society looked weird, society, yeah, correct. This is how they need to look.

SPEAKER_02

Let's cyborg us out as much as possible and let people know. I mean, but but Meta's going through their own little uh it's my understanding that the world is not adopting these from a I appreciate you wearing those staring at me type of point of view, and there's a lot of like uncoolness about wearables, so it's strange because I know wearables is a hot topic, but the very public they're trying to push them to there's a it seems it's almost like AI, like I love it, or fuck you for using it. And it's uh we might see that.

SPEAKER_01

I just don't want to sound like this, but I mean we've never had any pushback when we wear ours. I don't know. I get on airplanes with them and everything. I think that maybe the the crowd that is against them is very loud online, but like maybe not reflective of the actual split of opinions. If that makes sense, yeah, but I don't know. That's what I'm saying.

SPEAKER_02

We'll have to see when people start getting punched in the face.

SPEAKER_01

I haven't seen any of that or anything. I've that's been a couple. Well, that's you can't do that. That's not cool. There's been a couple. Like if somebody's wearing something that you don't like in terms of like a piece of tech and you hit them, you're a hundred percent in the wrong.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I was thinking that's that's also people have never been hit back either. But it's like it's like even the people who You can't break somebody's tech and hit assault them because they're wearing glasses.

SPEAKER_02

There's people who make a living just filming on sidewalks, showing that happen every day. You can't film me. Like, but I can. We're in public. I didn't give you permission. And what do you think they do? They start swiping at their equipment. Yes, the cops show up, and yes, they go to jail, but usually mace is involved, and either way, it's a it's something you're now gotta go to court for. So it's like people just aren't informed that and hey, when you're in public, you have no fucking right to privacy. You gave up that right, period.

SPEAKER_01

Who care what state you live in? There's also no legal doctrine of a right to privacy, that doesn't necessarily exist.

SPEAKER_02

That includes restrooms. Oh, you have a right to privacy in bathrooms. And you have what's called a presumed right of privacy. Correct. Meaning if I go into that restroom with somebody Yeah, you can't fill them in a restroom. No, but not only that, if I choose to go into that stall with someone and close the door, you can't legally kick me out. You're not technically allowed to know that I'm in there with even though you know how stalls are in this country. Yeah, it's a weird in the state at least. You have what's called the presumed right of privacy. Fuck you, what's going on in there? You're not supposed to know. Even though we build them two feet off the ground so you can see four legs.

SPEAKER_01

But in situations where it's like, oh, I'm out in the public. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Or even hey, up that right, my neighbor put a camera in their backyard, and part of it go like they can see in my backyard with it.

SPEAKER_02

As long as it doesn't look through your window. Correct. Yep. Like you have no legal legs. Correct. They can go right up to the bottom of your window and brag about it. Oh, yeah, dude. It's a hot now. It's the AI cameras that they have in the streets that are looking for um though they're gonna they're turning them on to look for people using cell phones while driving. What if you just if you're if you are seen moving your cell phone while driving, that is operating the cell phone while driving. They'll ticket you. Holy shit.

SPEAKER_01

It's about to get ready. Believe I saw that. I'll fact check myself.

SPEAKER_02

They're doing everything they can to make it so if you buy a new car, you're at the mercy of basically the car dealer. I know that. They're making it more and more difficult for the mechanics to be able to actually fix the car. Yeah, it's bizarre times. But the camera shits a hot button, especially around us. I can't remember the company that they got them all in towns now.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, I think they're for technically for impaired driving. Like the mandatory cameras by 2027 will be. Impaired driving? I understand.

SPEAKER_02

I don't know. I need to look more into this than so you're you're accusing me of something before I've done it? I need to look more into this than than we have. You gonna start putting breathalyzers in all our cars too? Like it's not gonna operate unless you're blowing it. Fucking this is why you buy 80s, bro. I know. I mean, for real, if you you can get one, you can actually work on it. It's got a zero computer in it. And if it did, it would probably something just dedicated to like a tone. Alright. Boy oh boy, we digress. Is it on me? I don't know. Oh yeah, it is, because we were talking about the privacy with the glasses. The love-hate relationship going on in the world with the right to privacy and body good for Samsung now, right? Uh this is gonna be a rare a rare one for me. I try to avoid Steam only shit. But since we are PC VR players and such, um I'm talking about something that just came out called G Rebels.

SPEAKER_01

G unit.

SPEAKER_02

Dude, holy crap, do I encourage you to look at this trailer? This is a stunning, beautiful, beautiful. It is described as an action-packed combat flight sim in a dystopian world full of intrigue, free exploration, and dangerous missions. Dude, it looks so good. 132 reviews on Steam came out July 20th, 2026 from Recdoor Studios, published by Senatus, and it's got a very positive rating already. If you like flight sims, I think action, dude. This one I think we have to grab. Look at this cockpit. I know. Look at that fucking thing. And if you watch how smooth that's the thing when you're flying in a flight sim, like are the controls gonna be real jerky, or this looks stupid smooth. And is it multiplayer or single player? Oh man, I don't like when you ask that question because that means it's always gonna be single player. Yeah, and it is.

SPEAKER_01

It's okay, not everything needs to be multiplayer. I just like to ask. It would be I I think flight sims are so fun, multiplayer being able to fly together. I hate saying this. There's still time.

SPEAKER_02

This right now says 24 hours, four minutes, 26 seconds, but you can get it for 23.99. 20% off.

SPEAKER_01

This episode's dropping in 25 hours. Well, no, no, not not the audio. Yeah, the audio will be out, but the video by the time of the video, there's gonna be some people.

SPEAKER_02

You wake up, you hear this, you can get it for $23.99. A couple hours later, you can't. But dude, it looks smooth as shit. And I'm a sucker for Sims, especially Flight Sims. The graphics on this look so good, dude.

SPEAKER_01

It looks ridiculous. And you know our rigs can handle this, so might have to grab this one.

SPEAKER_02

I like it. No, I I I'm dude, I'm totally for it. I I couldn't believe the cityscape. Obviously, future city cyberpunk act. So I wonder what kind of like how much free rain you get with how many screens? One, two, three, four, five. It looks tight. Oh, your whole head up unit? Come on, bro. It looks tight. Yeah, no, I'm pretty impressed. So don't usually single out just Steam only experiences, but this looks it does look like you will need a power hungry machine, though. Because that's gonna be real resource heading.

SPEAKER_01

No, it's gonna be a real good test for our computer. We've yet to hit something our computer can't run, so I think we're in the fucking lags. I'd be devastated. It shouldn't though.

SPEAKER_02

No, but the graphics look almost too good to be true. Um well, just for giggles. We won't even look at the recommended, we'll look at the or the not the minimums, but the recommended memory. We're good. I think we're good. Graphics 4080.

SPEAKER_01

I think we have a 4070i, which should be over the equivalency. Yeah, because I I'm pretty sure. Yeah, I'm pretty sure we're good. Yeah. Okay. That was cutting it close, though. This thing requires a 4080. I don't know, man. I I've heard we're good for at least three more years. Definitely. Minimum. Minimum. Because it's just the market's and that's just for running things on max settings, like, let alone like all right, now we gotta scale back a bit and stuff like that. I love our computers, yeah. They're beasts. So, anyways, I think we gotta check out this one. G Rebels.

SPEAKER_02

Currently on sale, won't be by the time you hear it, but $29.99, and it looks amazing. I want somebody to have played it and tell me how amazing it is.

SPEAKER_01

Well, another amazing-looking game in the cockpit. This one's mech related. Iron Rebellion. They have they have introduced a new spectator mode into their their game. It's currently a PvP mech mech game, but there is a PV PVE and single player mode in the works. Uh, and in the meantime, they've announced their observer update, which like I said, adds a spectator mode in there as well, a spectator camera, and a mini-map UI. Or improvements to the mini-map UI. Uh, they also say that they're bringing cleaner boot-up animation with this update. Teammates and friendly turns are always visible to your team. Uh, conquest points tint red and blue depending on your team, red or blue depending on your team, with live capture ownership matching the games in you in-game UI. Uh, pings show up as green markers for your team, so just a whole bunch of quality of life improvements along with the spectator cam. And hopefully soon, this is a step direction to their long-awaited Faction Wars update, which is going to be their PVE update, which for me and you, I think that that's gonna be when we really become hooked on this game. It's one of those games PvP is fun, but you have so many players that have been playing for so long, like you're pretty far behind when you hop in. Uh, you can get you can get absolutely whooped. So I think it'll be good to have a PVE mode that you can really get your feet wet before going to the masses. So good stuff to Iron Rebellion, bringing a spectator cam and just overall a bunch of mini-map UI improvements.

SPEAKER_02

Well, a big improvement for the game. One more delve. Happy to announce they're officially out of early access. Version 1.0. Uh they're bringing us a new weapon class in the form of flintlock guns, a level 5 dungeon. Like all dungeon crawlers, extra difficulty selections for the level 5 dungeon, new clothing items, new weapon mods, models, and brightness and bloom customization settings. So if you don't know what one more delve is, it's a it's a friggin' hackslash very much like a dungeon game that we enjoy a lot. As you can play this with up to three players, you see where I'm going with this. Um, it is available on Steam and Quest 3 headsets. I don't see quest two, yay, which is good. $13.99. That is a steal and a half. It currently has a 4.1 with 39 reviews. If you enjoy this physics, physics physics-based melee combat. Um, I'm sure they have some ranged weapons as well, but you get what I'm saying. I mean, it's right up your alley, so I see why someone would would play it and gravitate to it. It's got some familiarity to it. There'll always be one in my heart that's gonna be the OG forever. Um, but this isn't 100%. Yeah, that's but it it follows basically the same footprint. But in fairness to Dungeons of Eternity, they didn't invent what they do either. I just give them mad props for how how they did it with the quest line. But it's it's good to see other people, and they won't be the last either. No, but one more delve, congratulations. You came out of it, wasn't a long early access either.

SPEAKER_01

No, but their ratings, their overall ratings gone up quite a bit. It was in the three stars for a while.

SPEAKER_02

It's all right, they earned it.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, now they're up to 4.1, so good stuff. Yeah, 48% perfect.

SPEAKER_02

A little confusing at first, but still gave it five stars. Yeah, don't congratulations. It's always nice to see when I get why some don't come out of early access, but for the ones that that do, congrats.

SPEAKER_01

Cool stuff there. This is my last one. It'll be a quickie, uh, because we are definitely not going to be able to get you know firsthand experience with it. But A.R. Raman, he is bringing his immersive music experiences to Apple Vision Pro. Apparently, he did the soundtrack for Slum Dog Millionaire, movie 127 hours. He's launched ARR Immersive for the Apple Vision Pro. It's funny how big somebody can be without you being totally familiar with him. He's sold over 150 million records and has won 170 industry awards. So it's a new name for me, but clearly freaking established. Uh, and he's working to bring some of his music with you know visual immersive experiences to the Apple Vision Pro. Some of them will be 360-degree experiences, and some of them will be 180-degree experiences. He said, although 360 is you know more immersive, uh, he said his preference for immersive storytelling is 180 degree experiences because quote unquote, with 360, you're constantly wondering if you miss somebody something, you're looking around behind you, but we only have 180 degree visions as humans, so it goes beyond us. He said 360 is beautiful for a place or a monument, something you want to look around, but for storytelling, 180 3D is where it's at. I do like 360 degree experiences, especially for, as he said, monuments or like exploring a place, but I get what he means by you know putting a little concert immersive thing in front of you during the song. Yeah, 180 is probably simpler. Now, I do I would even argue though that 360 would give you a reason to watch it again because you're gonna go and you're gonna watch it over and over and look for small details. So I'm not gonna say I 100% disagree, but I have my own opinions.

SPEAKER_02

I would think it's honestly in the eyes of the director, and who's he prefers to have as 180 then who's visioning? I mean, because he's not wrong. I get what he's saying. One, it makes total sense, but from a user sense and a director sense, there might be a time I want you to turn around. I need you to turn around, I need to distract your attention over here. Um, so there are there are use clauses for the 360. And it's it's a new tech. We don't make movies and experiences in 360 degrees of of vision. So, yeah, you're gonna put your feet in the ground a little because this is a new thing. Your brain isn't he's right about some of the the especially continuity issues. It's hard enough to do a fixed screen and have to like redo it, let alone a full 360. But there are use clauses where it would be relevant. If you want to draw my attention here, but with VR, you're gonna look a little left and right, so you gotta cut over a little little more. I'm gonna say horror. If I'm doing horror, I I want to pull you in, but then I'm I'm gonna want you to, I need you to do this. Something's gonna have to happen here, correct? Because when you turn here, I'm gonna predict if I did my job right as a director. I got you to turn and now he and I'm fucking in your face.

SPEAKER_01

But I I understand or like an extremely psychedelic experience, you probably want somebody to do that.

SPEAKER_02

100% you want to look all around the whole fucking oh shit. So I'm I'm more interested in these young, young people who are still in school or just getting into school for film and shit. How are they gonna embrace this tech through a different set of eyes? He's won so many awards, so I could honestly not saying his work is jaded, but I could think his mindset is pretty locked into what he's he can back it up, right? He's got how many awards? He could tell me to go fuck myself, but he's not that next generation of person coming up, and worth saying too, some of the experiences are 360.

SPEAKER_01

So I'd love to, I'd love to be able to get a list and see which ones are 180, which ones are 360, and why 360s are his favorite. That's what it'll really be.

SPEAKER_02

You'll be like, bro, stop it.

SPEAKER_01

Your favorite experiences are yeah, show me what the cost difference is to film each one, and maybe we'll get the answer of why some of them are 180.

SPEAKER_02

So then there's it, there's the question like, what would you do as a director with Dead Space if you didn't need it? So you could you could do creative things with peripheral imagery.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I think it's a perfect opportunity for things like Easter eggs, small details. Give somebody a reason to go back in and watch it again.

SPEAKER_02

Yep.

SPEAKER_01

And the app is free to download, but inside the app, some of the music videos pretty much is what they are. And the headset's only 10 grand. Yeah, right. It's just went up, it's like 400, 4,000 now. So I wish there was a way we could have gotten it, but I know because apparently for stuff like this, it is really freaking good. Like people love it for that, but I ain't got 4K to spend on it. We'll be doing uh one week long rough a thon of the month a thon? We'll be doing a two 240-hour a thon, you know, 10 days straight.

SPEAKER_02

I'll just stand on the corner out here with cardboard, not homeless, but can't afford Apple Vision Pro. You know, just the reality. Rent, food, or Apple Vision. Hey, things to strive for.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. I mean, I I will, I'm impressed by the tech, just not worth the money, in my opinion. But if anyone's got a Vision Pro in there, they've checked out this ARR immersive. Let me know in the comments your thoughts. Well, sir, thus concludes today's episode. Probably went a bit longer than we meant to. Whoopsie, what can you do?
