Welcome to another episode of Rough Talk VR, a weekly podcast with in-depth game reviews, exclusive developer interviews, and the latest MetaQuest and virtual reality news. We join our hosts, the Father Son team of D Scruffles and Stratus today, as they spend another episode breaking down and discussing the world of virtual reality.

SPEAKER_01

Hey, welcome to this episode of Rough Talk VR, coming at you with another edition of VR News. We had a fun week uh playing VR last week, including, as you might guess, some grim. Been chipping away at RoboQuest VR, getting closer and closer, hitting some rooms that we haven't hit yet. We sped run to one of them. That was nice. That is the first time we ever well, we drag ass a little bit.

SPEAKER_02

You gotta you gotta hustle to get to that door. You can't stop to shoot shit, get shit, get your gun and and run.

SPEAKER_01

And last night we built a new base in Grim, and I was so impressed with how far we got in less than one hour. I pray it's still there. Got this tiny little thing up against a rock. It's something you try to do a lot is build them against rocks so we don't have to build the back wall. And sometimes it gives us a one already built the back wall. It's called a stone mountain. There's no breaking through that. No, and not yet. Sometimes you've tried it before and it gives you a fight and it ends up not really working, but it worked perfect last night. Yeah, I'm happy with this one. Got it all metal, got it. What do we have? Four furnaces producing metal as we speak.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, I'm dude. I I almost went in this morning when I woke up. Just to check. Well, and to clean out the furnaces. Yeah, all the charcoal. Throw some more shit in there. But I want to jump in tonight, maybe expand it just a smidgey more.

SPEAKER_01

If we can get a supply drop or two as well, start researching stuff. Because I think blueprint wipe was last week. So now everything that we're we're researching is. Yeah, I think so. I'll know real quick when I try to build something. Well, now we have all this time to to be together. Blueprints for the you know, this wipe cycle. We're just crushing it. Yes. And then we've been talking like it's been too long since we've been in forefront, so we definitely gotta pop back in there and start dragging each other. Yeah, dragging each other and stuff like that. I saw that they're doing a no new uh limited time map, like uh what do they call it where they adjust the map a little bit like they did with the Apache attack. They're doing one of those right now as well, too. So a lot of good stuff, cooking in VR. So yeah, been a fun week of playing. And you know, we have uh another another list of news here, not like our most stacked weeks ever, but I think that there's a lot of fun stuff in here, including summer, man. Yeah, and we have on this news stuff with meta quest, meta headsets in general. We have some PlayStation VR2 news, we have some Steam and Steam frame news. So I mean, we're hitting hitting all the boxes.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, it was a lot of news that wasn't like let's say picked up media news, but it was still news. Like Combat Waffle seems to be going a different direction with publishing.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, uh, I think I saw the way Scott worded it on LinkedIn was that they've purchased the rights, the publishing rights, away from Beyond Frames. I think that was a million dollar deal, man.

SPEAKER_02

Is what they were Beyond Frames was asking. Which is searchable. I'm not just like thinning area. Um yeah, so that's kind of big news. That puts it all back into the which to me means possibly some good news for Grimm. Future news, maybe. Hopefully. Hopefully. So we'll see what happens. And I did see that um their third game was actually part of that. Silent North? Yeah, yeah. Yeah. So I'm I'm hoping and praying that Silent North comes back one day. Yeah, but in a in a listen, it admittingly, it was a rough state, right? But it has a lot of freaking potential. So I I hope that's still on the burner and being worked on, but waiting to come out in a state that's a lot more um just user-friendly, you know.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, no, yeah, good stuff this this past week. Ah man, I swear going into this, there was something I wanted to say. Oh my goodness, it's mighty coconut. They've been teasing their next. They threw their teaser out. Yep. They posted some pictures of their next evil air course. It's funny because I saw like, ah, let's dissect this. Good luck to you. They're talking about pizza. They go, oh man, I'll I have to pull up the actual post itself because the wording on it is so goofy. Well, people are are trying to nail down the the decade for sure. You're not gonna be able to guess what this one is. This is what their their the copy on their post was. They said, Yo, home, yo, home skillet, dibs on the last slice of za. It's the bomb. Also, let me be let me keep it real with you. What's the dealio with the crib on the other side of the fence? It's not very funky fresh, no diggity. That's 80s. But like, then what's the theme of this boss gonna be? Or this this boss, this evil, evil layer person.

SPEAKER_02

But you know, it's weird. It's like well, I mean, I guess lava lamp and record player you could say is 80s. Where if I saw just the lava lamp and the record player, I'd say 70s.

SPEAKER_01

But that wording, yo, home skillet, dibs on the last slice of the fish. Well, fresh fresh was an 80s word, big time.

SPEAKER_02

It's not very funky fresh, funky fresh, funky fresh crew. No diggity. That's a little more modern. What do we do with skibbity diggity? Diggity dog. I have no idea what this is gonna be. No, and it just I mean, look at the picture. Is that a cassette on the wall on the poster? That's an amp. So you have a guitar amp, you got the record player. The aesthetic looks 70s. But the wording didn't late 70s, early 80s.

SPEAKER_01

The wording didn't sound 70s.

SPEAKER_02

83, 84, if you wanted me to make my absolute guess. Yeah, I have no idea what this is gonna be. But here's how it always plays out they post these pictures, we make predictions, and we fall flat. Couldn't be more wrong.

SPEAKER_01

Like when they were guessing, when they were teasing Tokyo and like we were guessing, New York, I think is what we were guessing because they put the train.

SPEAKER_02

I won't even listen to my guess anymore because I I feel like I was a little confident. I was leaning on uh I think the New York vibe for uh again, how much wrong can you be Tokyo versus New York, dude? Like 5,000 miles, you know.

SPEAKER_01

Like a week ago, too, we were playing and we we're like, man, it it's felt like a like it's about walk-about time, right? I know the Home Star one wasn't that long ago, but it feels like it feels like we're due for another course soon.

SPEAKER_02

No, we're due, we're 100% due. We felt it, we both felt it while we were playing the game. We're like, yay, man. Just it had that vibe in the air, like a fog rolling in. There's a course coming somewhere. Yeah, I'm curious if anyone can guess what this is because I have no freaking idea. If anybody guesses, it's because of random. Because you're trying to guess who the the evil evil lair is.

SPEAKER_01

This isn't like an IP collab, the the evil lair is never. Their own homebrewed stuff. So I mean what's the theme of this one? I mean, so so far they've done ice layer, laser layer, eight-bit layer. Like I love the the evil layer series. This I've gone on record to say it's my favorite series of horses, even. Not my favorite. I love them.

SPEAKER_02

But I that's not I can't say that. Because as far as course series, yeah, it probably is. Because it's the one that now is the most in the series. The passport series has a good amount of them as well, too.

SPEAKER_01

I'll take the evil arrow for Passport though. I will get the passports are cool though. It's not, you know, I don't think there's any.

SPEAKER_02

And that's like saying, like, what's your what's your favorite freaking course of all time? You know, it's like, I don't know, dude. It's like ask me week to week.

SPEAKER_01

I still can't believe that they had the audacity. Labyrinth is still amazing. Their April Fool's joke still bothers me when they tease the walkabout dungeon crawler.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Uh where they had How do you know it's fake? Well, it was they they did an update to it, so they originally posted the walkabout dungeon golfer uh key art, and then they're like introducing walkabout dungeon golfer, the the future of roguelike dungeon crawlers with 100% more golf. Explore dungeons, collect your power-ups, and defeat foes with their putter in hand. Then they went and updated it and said, update walkabout dungeon golfer was initially a joke, but we got excited about it the more time we spent with it. Yeah, no promises, but we're starting to play with some prototypes. There is no reason they can't do it. I think that would be I'm still upset at them for teasing that, you know.

SPEAKER_02

What would be cool is if they it would almost oh man, it'd be a nice collab with Demio. Mm-hmm. Get those Demio voices in there. Mm-hmm. Dude, that's no, that's no joke. Or uh Dungeons of Eternity, Dungeons of Walkabout. Dungeons of Walkabout. That would work, but you don't get the voices. Where I think I think what would make Demio cool is those known voices when you use your weapon or you do something.

SPEAKER_01

Dude, so good. Yeah, no, walkabouts, walkabout be walkabouting. No idea of when this next course is gonna drop, only that their next course is an evil air course, and they've now officially started to do teasers on their socials as well, too. So great stuff there. One of the best games in VR just continues to deliver. The day they have a bad course, you'll hear it from us, but as far as I'm concerned, hasn't happened yet. So my first piece piece of big news. This is great. This is like the best price point you could have for this headset, in my opinion. It's PlayStation VR2, it is now on sale direct from Sony in the US for $300 down from its $400 regular price point. If you have a PS5, $300 for uh a PlayStation VR2 is like it's a no-brainer. And I I don't think it comes with the Call of the Mountain bundle in this. During Black Friday, they did a bundle where you got the headset for the same $300 price, but it came with Horizon Call of the Mountain. This bundle doesn't, but even with that, $300 for this headset is a steal. I feel like we've seen through the lifespan of PlayStation VR2 it go from one of the more quiet headsets on the market, like that didn't feel like that there was a ton happening to it to like the past year, year and a half, especially. It has it's really blown up, and that's not to say that there weren't anything happening with it, it just feels like the momentum of the headset is is strong, strongest it's ever been.

SPEAKER_02

Well, their stores a lot better as far as the amount of of new games coming to the store. Where you look at two years ago, yeah, we used to tell jokes. You're like, oh, I'd be lucky if this came. Now it's it's almost like it's gonna be both every time. You're if it comes out on Meta, you're gonna see it on PSVR too. You're arguably missing like a big audience by not. And now I think that audience is is legit and they're hungry and they're they're very active. Um, I've seen argument a $300 price should be forever. Uh keep it that way because that's they will drive people to buy the headset. Doesn't seem like a big deal, but even saying the word $300 or $400, it just hits different, and that's a great price for a headset.

SPEAKER_01

Especially in the time if you own a PS5 everything's going up in price because of RAM. The PlayStation VR2 only has a small, small amount of RAM in it. Uh, two gigabytes of LPDDR4X RAM. So, I mean, the chance of the RAM shortages really affecting the price point of it are extremely low.

SPEAKER_02

And their manufacturing's pretty legit. Who knows how many they got sitting in stock, dude? Right? You know what I'm saying? So it's like it's a great move from them. Uh here perfect timing when you know, I mean, they're not stupid, dude. They got teams of people, but you know, they see other people going, uh fucking meta doesn't care about VR anymore, which is old and dated, and we know it's not true, but it still gets brought up every week by people who just want to say it. Uh you know, steam coming out with their shit relatively soon. Who knows? By the time anybody hears this, maybe it's it's possible. So it's a it's a fantastic move.

SPEAKER_01

People thought it was coming, people thought the steam frame was coming last week, yeah. And every day was like today.

SPEAKER_02

I'll think at Monday at like 2 05 or whatever it was mentioned as a possibility. I was like, I'm gonna just see what happens on the socials, and I'm like, well, that came and went.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. What sucks for Steam Frame and MetaQuest, Qualcomm, who makes the chips for those standalone headsets, they've announced that there's gonna be price increases across pretty much all their supply coming up. So it's a seller's market for them right now. I feel like steam frames just gotten hit with the worst possible timing on every part of manufacturing. Like if they were six months ahead of where they were, which they could have been very, very easily. It's valve time, they go when they want to, you know, or they're like, yeah, it's gonna be a shortage, we can get better money. We already have a bunch made. The uh nothing makes me laugh more than how much flax Sony's getting for the digital stuff, which I understand. Like we we were, I think, pretty fair about it the other week when we talked about it. Yeah, but it is kind of ironic. Valve sitting over there in a corner, like, yeah, digital only.

SPEAKER_02

Check out our digital computer, their digital fucking controllers with our digital headset. No, they can't put it, you can't even put a disc on it.

SPEAKER_01

Valve's the reason that you opened up to digital purchases so really 20 something years ago.

SPEAKER_02

20 years ago is when I thought, well, this is just it. And then as I was getting the newer um Xboxes through the years, and now my current one, I don't I don't think you can put it. Maybe you can. I don't think you can. I don't think I even have a disc drive on my Xbox. I think it's a hundred percent. So I just assume that's the way the world was going. And I was playing Counter-Strike 20 fucking years ago, so I mean, my Steam library, hundreds of games, and I don't have a disc for any of them. No, they never even sold discs for any of them. I don't even know if some of those games that I bought are still even in my library because there's so many, and that's the other thing with Steam that again they get a pass. But like you know, you talk to people who've had it forever, and they'll be like, I got fucking 700 games. I'm like, I challenge you, do you own every game that you originally bought? Or there may be like 10 that are gone, or they're better forever.

SPEAKER_01

They don't move stuff from your library. That's the one good thing about them. If something becomes delisted, you just can't buy it anymore.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, but as long as you installed it, you're fine.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, no, not as long as you install it, it'll still show up in the library.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, you can reinstall it. Yeah, because I've never, but here's the thing I never even paid any attention to that. I just assumed the world was progressing to digital. Um, I cut cut my ties with the cable company and I stream everything. You know, it's like that's just the way the world's moving. My cell phone, it's not corded. No one freaked the fuck out when we were like cut the cord on a phone. Yeah, I think it's just it's very strange. The old just want to own that plastic. Make plastic. I call dude, I'll call people out on it now because it's been over a week, right? I give people a week for the dust to settle, but every week I still see it coming up like it's a fucking bad situation. You give a shit about the environment? Do you care at all? Look into what it takes to make these discs. You think there's no plastic involved, there's no environmental consequence, there's no carbon footprint because you want to own something entirely wrapped in plastic, mind you. To do what? Take the plastic off and throw it away. So I, for one, am happy about digital. I'm doing my part, I'm lessening my carbon footprint, which is true. I I actually do care about the planet, but I I didn't get all worked up because I've already been on the bandwagon.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I won't I see both sides to it. I won't get as passionate as or as I'm calling people out on it now.

SPEAKER_02

You want disc, you just want to litter.

SPEAKER_01

I just want to pollute. I just think it's funny that all the flax gone to PlayStation and none and people are like, I'm gonna leave PlayStation to go to Steam. Dude, Xbox is like Xbox had a big issue last week where some of their servers went down.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And people it was saying that you didn't own the license to games that you bought. They got scared. Well, imagine. See, that's the problem with digital only. That's what you know.

SPEAKER_02

There's but it wasn't that wasn't the case. You still own your correct. It was a couple hours it was a future, a future thing that we haven't seen yet. Nah, there was there was one one one news people were like, you know, it's gonna be interesting to see what Xbox does with their next unit. Because honestly, I don't think it's supposed to have a fucking disk drive. No ability of that at all, but they're like, ah, maybe they'll offer one that will. But again, I don't think they will. I don't think it's worth it manufacturing-wise. The percentage of people actually buy the discs is so small. If you look at the the amount of games, I was it only like a handful of games sold over a hundred thousand PlayStation discs last year. So it's like, who is this market that's so upset?

SPEAKER_01

Not well, it's really expensive for developers to order discs as well. Too, there's like minimum orders to do, so most games you don't care about the developers in the planet. Most most games don't end up ordering any physical discs because it's just not worth it.

SPEAKER_02

It's a price, it's a return on investment issue. And look, we know the size of a lot of the some of the studios. The same holds true for flat screen, it's not all like rock star level, but yeah, man, people still heated, it won't go away. No, and uh there's supposed to be uh oh yes, the Sony blackout. Don't place PlayStation games on that. I'm playing mine that day. I wasn't playing on it, but now I will. You were talking off air, like the only person that hurts is developers. Um in a way, dude. I mean, and that some of those boycotts at the end of the day, I mean you're you're cutting off the lifeblood for someone to eat. It's like so big because you don't like the people they do business. I don't know. Yeah, the world's getting really weird. Yeah, this one it needs to go away. Just get over it. All y'all play Steam and nobody bitches, so your argument is on deaf ears.

SPEAKER_01

I think if Sony makes you know, puts the line in the sand and they won't ever remove anything from your library, I don't think there's anything to complain about.

SPEAKER_02

I don't think they can make that guarantee though. Because you know, a lot of it's licensed, right? I mean, there's a solution to it, you know, avoid like Marvel games and shit. Well, like support the indie.

SPEAKER_01

Again, there's there's Steam games that there's the license has been gone for, but if it's in your library, they still let you download it. So how can they get how can they do that, but other platforms can't, you know?

SPEAKER_02

So Steam got good negotiators or something.

SPEAKER_01

So yeah, I don't know. I see I see both sides of the argument. I'm just saying if your argument against PlayStation is like your retaliation is that you're gonna go to Steam, it makes me laugh a bit. And I love Steam, I'm not I don't mean to throw that shade, but nobody's pushed the world towards digital gaming more 20 more than Steam years ago, dude. Yeah, and another thing that makes me laugh is that was the only way you could play it, all the PlayStation uh posts promoting their games on their platform, not their games, but promoting games on their platform. Like they'll post little snippets of gameplay footage of whatever game that just came out, you know, on Twitter. And usually those posts would get 200 to 300,000. Different world now. Now everyone's commenting on them about the discs, and X, you know, social media algorithms don't understand why it's being commented, they just see engagement, right? So then they're gonna push it to more users. So now there's those clips are getting like a million plus views anytime they post it. No, they're they're the algorithm's gonna reward them quite well.

SPEAKER_02

Um, System Critical 3 guy, same thing. The amount of times that the name System Critical 3 was mentioned last week, a lot.

SPEAKER_01

I think you said that in our Discord. You're like, for all the hate, everyone's talking about his game.

SPEAKER_02

All from the time I woke up till I posted that, and I'm not singling out our Discord, it was conversation. It was it was it was a lot of Discord, but time I woke up, time I went to bed, people still till I posted that, people were still talking about it. So I'm like, like it or love it, everyone's talking about it. What do you think the the algorithms do for that?

SPEAKER_01

And a lot of the flack that System Critical 3 was getting in our Discord was the lazy AI imagery, which I I did go and look at it, and it was pretty oh, I saw the the cut screen video was pretty bad. Every every and then every clip was a different, and then he did get a lot of flack as well, too. For a reviewer told him made a video saying it was the worst game on PlayStation VR2. And he's like he goes, You're an idiot, dude. And then goes, uh a whole bunch, you know, you didn't even play the game, and he goes, You know what? Give me a $20 back. You owe me my $20. I gave you a key, give me my $20 with the smoke blowing out of the nose emoji and the flex. Now, look, on the serious side, you can't do that. Like, you can't give a reviewer a key not like the review and then say that you owe he owes you money.

SPEAKER_02

Some things the reviewer did say were a little they were blatant fake, though. They were not right. I'm not defending him, but I'm just gonna say, like, I listened to the review, and it's like there were some things said that mathematically aren't possible. Like, this should have been a quest one release. It's like I don't think it would run on a quest one like that. So let's let's be honest.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, the raindrops fall on the screen on the viewpoint as you're there. The quest one couldn't probably even handle rain. Uh but I won't lie. Com the comedy fan side of me. I laughed when I read it, I won't lie. Um I sent you a message. I was like, dude, that was pretty fucking funny. I was like, I don't agree with it. Yeah, I'm like, you shouldn't handle it.

SPEAKER_02

Well, and and I did say it in the Discord, right? Like, that's why you need a community manager. I'm like, I'm a believer devs should never, never, don't even look at your socials, dude. Pay attention to what you're you're golden at, which is making a great game. Let someone else run the the defense. Where it gets tricky is this is a solo dev. What do you do? Tell him you can't engage with your he has to. And then like all right. So he's a solo dev, he's never made games before, right? Well, now he's made three, but yeah, he's this has been his his passion. It's it's hard for somebody to take a shot about something they believed in over in what to his opinion might be honestly, it's it's not even critical to the game, no pun intended. It was the cut screens with the girl, right? I think there's some gameplay issues people might I don't know. I haven't played it yet, but some of the reaction was just I don't know. I I I like comedy, so I enjoyed the comment for the comedic point, but I do agree you probably shouldn't do that.

SPEAKER_01

No, and he he's been a meme in the PlayStation VR community for a while. Like, dude, like maybe like six months ago, I saw a post about his game on the PSVR 2 subreddit or PSVR subreddit, and everyone was like, This game's so good, I played it and I won a million dollars. This game's so good, you know. You fill in the blanks there, and it's because the way he would market it for a while. I really want to talk to him though. I think it'd be hilarious. I sent you that message.

SPEAKER_02

I'm like, dude, we have to talk to this guy. This would be the third one with that same kind of personality. I love it. You're not gonna name the other ones. Nope. Nah, we got 300 episodes. You can find it. There's there's this would be the third interview with somebody with that same passion, and the other two before him are freaking great. So why wouldn't I want to talk to this guy?

SPEAKER_01

He he made a game, may not agree with the responses, but you know, I remember when the comedic side of the in the discord first started. I was like, Look, you know, this is a solo dev, like I got a lot of respect for that. Like, I hope he succeeds. And then he goes and does that comment, and I even go, God damn it, here I am just trying to support the indie dev, the solo dev, and this is what he has to go and do. You idiot. Oh man shit, man. Okay, we got incredibly sidetracked, but PlayStation VR2 is not $300. Dude, they got they got passion.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Passion. I remember member of the dev. You send me a video of that. That was the most gangster dev I've ever seen. Yep. And and nobody ever sent him a video. Some people interpreted it as a little rude because they're just seeing I don't think English was that guy's first language either.

SPEAKER_01

No, it wasn't.

SPEAKER_02

They're just seeing the interaction of like, hey, your game's broken, the ball went through this. Like, no, it didn't. I guarantee it didn't. You send me a video. Didn't he offer him like a hundred dollars or something?

SPEAKER_01

No, he said he would buy the game for you four times. Yeah, it was it was first person tennis, I'm pretty sure. Dude, it was freaking great.

SPEAKER_02

He's like, No, you're the problem. It's not the racket, it's you.

SPEAKER_01

No, I think was it was it match point tennis? It might have been match point. It sounds match point tennis, sounds right.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, dude, it was fantastic though. But if you were to read it on paper, it sounded a little mean. But hearing it in person, it was fucking funny.

SPEAKER_01

Because that didn't happen, he would basically say that like you just you're not good at tennis.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, you missed. Send me a video. Send me that's all he said, too. Is like, send me a video.

SPEAKER_01

Holy shit. Okay, so good stuff.

SPEAKER_02

What can you do? Um wow, that was our legit story. I just thought we were bantering this whole episode to be honest with you.

SPEAKER_01

No, that that came from a new story. I don't know what happened.

SPEAKER_02

Um us happened, that's what happened. So we've got a new came out last week, mixed reality tower defense game. What's not to like just in the title of that? I'll tell you what's to love, though. It's rocking a 4.2 with 13 reviews, which for coming out last week on quest, that's not freaking bad. I do I do think I want to check this one out. Yeah, it's called Cybercore Protocol slash mixed reality.

SPEAKER_01

I didn't need to put that in the name.

SPEAKER_02

$9.99. So we'll start with that. It does use hand tracking, which is cool. Um, I'm quite sure you can use your controllers. This will run on geez, this is a lot. Uh Quest 3S, Quest 3, MetaQuest Pro. That's cute, and MetaQuest 2. That sucks. Gross. Um, this is Burhan Burke Octay, is both the developer and publisher.

SPEAKER_01

Henceforth, known known here going forward on the Rough Talk VR podcast as BBO. As Otai.

SPEAKER_02

Um, BBO, yeah, no shit. So BBO. Uh BBO games. I'm gonna jack the description right from their hard work. You're gonna turn your play space into a battlefield, kind of no-brainer, speaks for itself. Uh, you're gonna scan your space, transform your walls into corridors. That's kind of crucial because then you're gonna plan and defend these corridors, which is when you're gonna traditional tower defense, you're gonna place down specific things, turrets, freezers, burners, lasers, and decoys.

SPEAKER_01

Sounds like a uh uh authentic old school that's the old school tradition.

SPEAKER_02

We're we're used to that. You're gonna distract slow the incoming enemies. Uh, you're gonna have four different weapon types. That's gonna be sword, pistol, machine gun, and shoddy, or shotgun to be, but we'll say shoddy. Of course, these are upgradable. You got skins, make your weapons stronger, improve your control hub, which is your your area. I'm guessing you're trying to defend. Uh, you have 45 levels. That's insane. $9.99. 45. Each boss will have its own unique uh tax and will require stronger upgrades. So you see the replayability of how this comes in. Um, learn from your mistakes would be the best advice. Uh, so key features of this will be it is mixed reality, strategic planning is needed, and you better or you won't you won't survive. Four weapons, skins, attachments, upgrades, energy shields, 45 levels, three modes, nine enemy types, three difficulty levels, and powerful boss fights. Wow, that is a lot for nine dollars and ninety-nine cents. I did look at the trailer, graphics look pretty good. Um, the planning seems pretty no nonsense, intuitive. Uh, you will literally pull up your corridors, it'll show you the holographic image of the corridors, place your whatever amount of protection you can, because we know in tower defenses you have to unlock shit to get the better shit, and then you can really start planning how it goes. And I think I think you're doing the killing though. I think the defense you're putting up isn't really meant to slow more than kill.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, then we have to go in and play ourselves.

SPEAKER_02

I I have questions because you have you have some pretty serious weaponry yourself. Um usually in tower defense that you're helping in, you're just doing that. You're helping, but they do most of the killing, like iron guard, you don't have to necessarily do a lot of the killing. Unless you want the really good score. Well, yeah, your leaderboard guy, but they do have turrets, turrets kill, lasers kill, burners should, but I don't see as it says to slow, damage, and distract. So I don't know if kill is part of that. But with that means we must play this. This sounds like I mean, we love tower defense games, dude. So BBO out there, out there making a name for itself. Cybercore protocol, $9.99. Definitely gonna want to check that one out. Use the code word rough talk vr and save 10%.

Well, I said at the start that we have PlayStation VR2 news, we have MetaQuest news, we have Steam Frame news, we have Steam news. So I guess it's time for some meta hardware news. And apparently leaked in a user setup video, there's been some initial, blurry, incredibly blurry looks at Meta's next headset, which you know road to VR speculating that that means that we'll see it unveiled at uh Meta Connect. We also know how meta works on headsets, several at a time. Most end up getting killed before they're reality. Who knows how old this thing actually is, but this was discovered by a user on X named Toast Concern, and he found this video and images in uh the meta meta quest's firmware. So let's see.

SPEAKER_02

It's weird is if I take my quest three apart and I lay it down, it looks just like that.

SPEAKER_01

And the videos are super blurry, but they do look like glasses form frame. Like not a headset, they look have you tried to ask AI to deburr de blur it?

SPEAKER_02

Oh, somebody should, huh? I mean, just what's the harm? Who cares if it hallucinates?

SPEAKER_01

If that's actually the size of it though, I question if these are gonna be for VR games. Like I don't see it.

SPEAKER_02

So look at the lenses sticking out on that one. Yeah. There's a piece of the puzzle not there. The lenses can't stick out like that. Let's see. You know what I'm saying? Let's see. Where's that? I don't know. Yeah, there's there's there's a there's a piece of that puzzle I think is missing.

SPEAKER_01

Or possibly two pieces. Well, look, if something like this is gonna be shown at Connect, like that's gonna be huge. I just don't see how something this size could run standalone VR games, besides like Cubism.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, you that you can see they're showing you the lens moving right and left for the setting. So there's there's that's a dissected model, is my opinion. I guess hopefully because wait w look at how close that lens would be to your eyeball. It is sticking out past the point of oh man.

SPEAKER_01

And who the hell is Toast concern? This is a new leaker that we've got, you know, digging through firmware files. I was expecting this to say it came from Luna, you know. But yeah, they're super blurry, the photos and videos that's been shown.

SPEAKER_02

And there's there and there's images clearly showing something happening with it. So who knows? Let's see. But I think it's a a headset that's been taken apart, just showing the integral piece movement, like this is the lens movement, and you wouldn't see if it was all together like that.

SPEAKER_01

I'm skeptical that of both the glass design on it, like that seems too good to be true, and I'm also skeptical of the ability to run standalone VR games. If both of those things prove me wrong, that it is the glasses forum frame and it can run standalone VR games. I think a design uh form factor like this, a design like this, is so much easier to sell the public on as well than a big bulky headset. Like there's no going back if this is if this is where things are headed.

SPEAKER_02

Well, no, because you wouldn't. You'd just make it more compact.

SPEAKER_01

Correct.

SPEAKER_02

And make and continue to make, but that's that's like compact times 10. It's such a difference from the quest three. I promise you that's not because again, if you click play, you'll see that it's showing each one showing like a movement of something that's attaching to it. That's I'm seeing it wrong. See? Did you see that? So it's like it's it's showing you like, okay, this is going here. But is that a face behind? I don't know. So that's what just makes me a little like.

SPEAKER_01

And why are they blurred? Yeah, it wouldn't make sense. Did Meta put this in here for someone to find it? Okay. Interesting stuff, though, but no, it's hey, it's gotta stuff. Let's definitely keep our eyes on Kinect this year because when they first announced Kinect this year, their first thing that they said before wearables and everything was VR on their list of stuff they'll be talking about. So didn't Baz can pretty much confirm it too? Well, or T's Yeah, he's TTs. It seems like Kinect this year is going to have a VR focus to it. Or a mention. I uh focus might be correct, maybe focus a bit too much, but uh a segment, you know. Even when they focus, it's still a segment. I think it'll be look announcing a new headset or giving significant news on their progress would probably be the best thing they could do.

SPEAKER_02

Hell yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Just to calm some of the meta's abandoned VR 100%, dude.

SPEAKER_02

Well, yeah, because the AI thing has people all itchy and won't even get into people's personal opinions about the company, and you know, there's just a lot of different different roads leading into that meta. So settling the waters on the the you know, VR future would be absolutely ginormous, even if they didn't show a concrete but like the commitment to the future, you know. But they've spent so many bill. Why in a million years would they just like new shiny thing? I mean, they're playing with it now and they're dealing with it. So let's see, but Connect just got interesting, yeah. Um well, this is kind of weird because this is usually it's uh it came out on MetaQuest, and then it's gonna come to PlayStation VR2. But this one actually came to PlayStation VR2 and is now coming to MetaQuest in September 17th, and I'm talking about clean sheet soccer 2. Uh, what's the catch? The catch is is you're not scoring goals, you're preventing them. They're trying to make a as realistic goaltending experience as possible. I think it's awesome. Um, I grew up playing soccer, I played for towns, I played for school. Unfortunately, it's just never caught fire in this country. The World Cup just came ripping through. There was a lot of attention. Holy shit, if this was able to have come out on like game one of the world, you know, it it would have helped it, obviously, and I'm sure they know that. But hey, it's cool, it's coming in September. I know from the soccer field near my house there's an uptick of kids who are now playing soccer. Really? Yeah, oh, 100%. That's cool. Here's what sucks, though, dude, because it happens all the time. Sometimes you get it in your head, you you can do it as good as what you saw, right? And you get humbled real fucking quick when the the coach comes out there and he puts all the balls and he has the kids kicking. And I can see it some kid'll miss every one of them. You're probably not seeing that kid again. Because in his head, he's the next great superstar. You know, you have to earn it, you have to really put in that time. So you'll see those numbers dwindle. But yeah, as soon as the World Cup was kicking off, and the the I'll say licensed games that take place there because there's four soccer fields, um, you see more kids coming out. There's one I keep seeing every week though, and it's a young girl who drives up there and lays out the balls and stretches for like literally 20 minutes and then just works drills. No coach, doesn't look no team, just out there by themselves getting better, and you're seeing the improvement week after week. That's cool. Yeah, so something like this. I mean, it takes a lot to want to be a goaltender. I don't care what sport. Probably the hardest position hockey, soccer, hockey soccer. It sucks. LaCrosse, it just to me, it's the my least favorite position. I played it once, all the pressure's on you, too. Not for me.

SPEAKER_01

Goalie does their job good. Nobody, yeah, nobody reacts. Yeah, well, you get game, you'll be like, you know, player of the game because you stopped all the goals, but yeah, you're right. But you make one error, every other position is making errors all game long. The ball got to you, dude. I got I got yeah, correct. I got five other people I can blame before you should be pointing a finger at me.

SPEAKER_02

Goalie misses, it's all their fault, right? And usually not the the highest paid on the team or the most so it takes a special person to to want to do it, and this is great for people who are you know used to do it or thinking they might want to do it. It might put such a fun spin on it that you're you're gonna sell yourself on wanting to be one. But yeah, good for them. So clean sheet soccer too, no price, yeah, a little pricey on on PlayStation, but this is also made by In Incisive Incisive, incisive god darn it. Incisive. It's incisive limited. Yes, so incisive limited developed, incisive published. And let me just see if I can pull up the oh apparently my um I'm out of business, my mouse just died. This is terrible. Oh man. Oh, $34.99 on PlayStation?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

So it is a little it is a pricey one. Probably exactly what it costs on the quest then. That's that's gonna hurt. $34.99 is a good one.

SPEAKER_02

I don't necessarily know if it's $34.99 a couple. Maybe it is for PlayStation players, but that's a lot for uh a quest game. We've seen dude, we've seen like strong studios do those numbers and get beat. Yeah, that's tough for only being a goalie game.

SPEAKER_01

That's tough. I mean, there's different modes, you know, but I mean you are a goalie. Yeah, that sounds a bit more like 1999 at the high, in my opinion.

SPEAKER_02

But yeah, honestly, I was gonna go as high as $24.99, but we don't know what they're coming out with for the price. But then how's that look? It was ten dollars cheaper on the quest.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, no, you gotta keep it in parity.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, continuity is important. Okay, clean sheet soccer two.

SPEAKER_01

Well, this next one is for the social VR fans, you know, the people that love this guy VR chat, fired up, man, or Resonite or Banter, all 12 people there. Uh SideQuest, who you know, it's always strange conversationally when a company's main product is also the name of their company. But SideQuest, most known for the SideQuest app, which is commonly used to sideload games onto Android devices. They maybe like two years ago, maybe even three years ago now, they made banter, which was a VR social space, is a VR social space, similar to all those other world building games available on Steam and MetaQuest. One of the most popular world building apps shut down in 2023, which was called AltSpace VR. Well, now SideQuest makers of SideQuest and Banter, they have come in and bought the naming rights to AltSpace VR. And AltSpace was made like right at the the dawn of this this current wave of VR. It came out in May of 2015. So by the time it shut down in 2023, it's almost a decade in. People loved AltSpace, it had a diehard community. So, like like you referenced, a lot of people were excited when the news came out that AltSpace VR was quote unquote coming back. But I do have to put emphasis on the fact that all sidequest did was buy the name to it, which means that they didn't get the source code, they did hire some former AltSpace employees, which definitely helps move the needle. But this isn't going to And my guess isn't going to look and feel exactly like how AltSpace was when it left. You know, they're recreating this from the ground up. How much of that is going to feel exactly like AltSpace versus how much of it is going to feel like its own new thing? You know, time will tell. But I would just say don't get your hopes up that you're going to be in the alt space that you left on the last day of it existing. This is going to be essentially a new product, in my opinion, with the name AltSpace attached to it. So let's see. But AltSpace, in some way, shape, or form, even if it's just in name, is on its way to come back. Uh, they say, I believe this fall is when they want to launch it, relaunch it, which again, it's a tight turnaround to recreate a platform like this from the ground up.

SPEAKER_02

So let's see. Still interesting, and it got a lot of peeps happy. All right. Um this one made its rounds last week. I I actually was not as impressed as everyone else was. It's called Retro 3D.

SPEAKER_01

Cool concept. I was even debating on putting this one on the list of news this week. It's a cool concept, but how how practical is this actually, you know?

SPEAKER_02

Well, I'll start by saying retro 3D wants to emulate the original. And it's funny because they keep saying cardboard glasses. People think cardboard VR, they think not these. We're talking OG blue and cayenne fucking or the red in cayenne, whatever it is. Two colored lenses, cardboard. Stay at home, watch these movies. Uh, they're gonna play it on TV. You could see them in theaters. This is before you could get like plastic glasses. I remember that these coming in some DVDs that was like the 3D version, they'd have a couple pairs of these in the the DV case, and then you'd have to set your TV, like they'd put the two colors up, and you'd have to fucking match it identical, or you get like weird blur effect. Bottom line, cool concept, never really took off because it's it's not tight visual at all. It works, eh? But it was never really like your brain wanted so much more, right? They can do that now, they don't have to go fucking backwards, but for whatever reason, retro's in, so we've got retro 3D. This is gonna allow you to turn your headset quest three, quest three s. It's gonna manipulate the right and left side, different colors. You're gonna have to provide more or less the content at the moment for this, which you can do. There is some NASA things that are filmed that you can view in this, but right now you'll have to do the legwork to import the images to look at them in crappy 1970s 3D. I'm telling you, dude, this was like there was so much hype for these when they came in the movies, and it fucking sucked so bad. There was just no way to like explain the disappointment as a kid. Like, you're like, Well, that was and it wasn't constant 3D, it would be like occasional 3D, you know, like an arm's gonna come out or something, you'd be like, Whoa! And you're waiting the whole movie, these shitty fucking glasses on. You're like, uh, nothing, nothing, nothing. Oh, I think I saw you know, it just where these were the coolest is you could get a full magazine and you could get this uh you thought I was gonna say porn, and you get these glasses, and you'd open a picture, and they're specially drawn, just like two lines, two colors, and it looks cool 3D. It's the best you're gonna get out of it. I promise you. Cool concept, but there's a better way to make 3D images. I so I don't I don't really understand it. Um, from uh I've been there, done that, and absolutely hated it standpoint, and I'm a big believer in modern 3D technology. Then remember the 3D TVs they were selling, those kind of dwindled. It's like dude, it's it's very like uh if you get this and shit on pass-through, you're a scumbag. Because your pat your your pass-through is like 4k, bro.

SPEAKER_01

And I don't even think this is like I think it's functional, but it's it still has a long way to go.

SPEAKER_02

There's a there's a bigger future to it where you'll be able to search for things, um, probably easier process to like upload your own videos or or pictures to turn into 3D, which you can do um currently with this, but they're gonna make it a lot easier because right now you're just gonna not a lot to do.

SPEAKER_01

More of a proof of concept, in my opinion.

SPEAKER_02

But I I think the technology in itself of 3D, uh you know, dude. I'm just I just don't understand why. We loved the like 70s and 80s 3D movies. I watched them, dude. We whole family watched them. The whole family was like, man, that was a waste. Look fake. It's just not good. That was the other problem. The movies they actually make, they're not great movies.

SPEAKER_01

Remember they did a spy kids movie like that in 3D. Uh that's a throwback right there. Yeah. So, like I said at the start, Steam News, PlayStation News, Meta News. So far, we've done some PlayStation hardware, some meta hardware. Now, on the side of Steam Frame, like we said last week, people were every day going, today's the day it's coming out, today's the day, and it never did. But as of end of July the 29th, the 30th, the Steam Frame has received FCC certification, which is needed for things like Wi-Fi, radio, infrared, etc. So it's been approved. The documentation is has been published by the FCC, and from a regulatory standpoint, this hardware is cleared to launch in the United States, which means it's it's probably coming the next couple weeks. It wasn't last week, though. It's coming this week, dude.

SPEAKER_02

Tomorrow. A couple hours after people are listening.

SPEAKER_01

If you say every day it's gonna come, one of these days it's gonna be right. But like just to be clear, like for anyone who was thinking it was gonna come on the 27th or 28th, like it couldn't legally be sold in the United States until it it received the certification. So it was kind of pointless to say like it's gonna come on this day or this day if it hadn't even been cleared by the FCC yet. However, now that it has been certified and cleared, now you can start to speculate is it gonna come next week, the week after, mid-August, etc. But looks like one big hurdle for the the steam frame is now passed, and launch seems closer than ever. Inevitable. Yes, I can't afford it. No, so it's I haven't even set a price yet, but I already know it's out of my budget. Well, and look, it's one of those things I see with the used market brings. I I could afford it, but is it gonna do anything to such a significant level that my quest three doesn't currently do that would justify the cost of it? Probably not.

SPEAKER_02

We don't know. Maybe it's just more comfy.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, is that worth a thousand dollars? If you didn't already have a headset, I mean it's a different conversation.

SPEAKER_02

We've heard rumor it runs pretty good. So I mean, if it runs games better than Quest, that's a thing, right? I just I just know I can't afford it. It's gonna be like two grand.

SPEAKER_01

No, I think it's gonna be about twelve hundred thirteen. You think twelve?

SPEAKER_02

I was thinking it would minimum like fourteen ninety nine.

SPEAKER_01

We'll see.

SPEAKER_02

And then you get the tax. I'm thinking the eighteens.

SPEAKER_01

I'm thinking twelve on the low, fourteen on the high, somewhere in that range.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, that fourteen ninety nine keeps smacking me. I'd love to be wrong though. 12 is a little tempting, but I just don't know like $11.99 just seems weird.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I remember when they first announced it, I was so hoping for $600. And that seemed possible at the time. Then RAM just got so crazy, they kept delaying it.

SPEAKER_02

Like it's not possible anymore. No, no, although they'd sell a fuck ton.

SPEAKER_01

Dude, if they got under a thousand, this thing would sell like hotcakes.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

14 That's tough.

SPEAKER_02

All right, so this is kind of short and sweet, but since you're on the subject of steam frame, uh Pavlock Shack. Dude, we have not said that name in a long time. But that is that will be coming soon to the Steam Frame and can actually be wish listed. It gets a little hokey though. Because according to the description that the game supports the steam frame hardware only, implying this, I'm stealing this from Mike who wrote this article, implying that unlike other steam frame certified games thus far, Shack will only run as a standalone app. And then there is a brief reason as to why that might be.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it's like it's like Blade and Sorcery versus Blade and Sorcery Nomad. Shack Shaq is the standalone version of Pavlov.

SPEAKER_02

What's cool? Community manager for Vankrupt Games did clarify that if players already own Pavlock on Steam VR, you will get Shaq for free.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_02

So that's a solid move. We've seen other studios do that um for the same freaking reason, too. So that's cool. And you can wish list it right now. So dude, it's just too many, too many things, even in the news this week. There's just too much steam, steam, steam, steam. So so many games getting certified by it. Yeah, it's like if they don't push something out, I'm gonna say this. People are just gonna start to get annoyed.

SPEAKER_01

If if August comes and goes and it's not out, there's a problem.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, big problem.

SPEAKER_01

I'm thinking it's gonna be in the first half of August. Real big problem. Well, that's cool. So yeah, no surprise though that Shack is only for the standalone version because Pavlov Shack is the standalone version of Pavlov. Correct. That makes sense. If you want to play the PC VR version, go play Pavlov. Like that's the whole reason they made Shack. So cool stuff. We're getting close. I feel it. Pavlov Shack was good, dude. Yeah, a lot of potential. I had a lot of potential at launch, and I ended up in a really good state. So Triangle Factory, a game, a studio we talk about a lot. We're big fans of Breachers and huge fans of Forefront. Their first game, Hyper Dash. This was their entry into competitive first-person shooters. And you can tell the lessons that they learned from it in Breachers, which then carried over to Forefront as well. They are closing their servers, unfortunately, in November. Uh, it will be playable offline, single player, but their online servers close on November 1st. They said, quote unquote, this is directly from Triangle Factory. Simply put, Hyper Dash is no longer generating enough revenue to cover its ongoing server and maintenance costs. So I mean, it's the sad reality of almost any online game. Once people stop playing it and they stop buying things and at purchases and stuff, at some point, the cost to run it is greater than the amount you're pulling in. So this is the an inevitability for any online only game that's you know has a dwindling audience, especially as quite frankly, they've come out with games that like I said at the start, they've they've learned so much of lessons from, and I would say are better, you know, with breachers and and forefront. Hyperdash still does have diehard players, like some people love it. Some people that's that's Triangle Factory's best game. However, is there enough of those people to justify the cost of keeping the server open? Clearly not, you know. So it's it's a sad reality of game development. I don't put this as any negative towards Triangle Factory, like they're making it so you can still play the game offline. I don't really know what else you would expect from them there. And uh, you know, yeah, it is what it is, it's just part of game development. So hyperdash, it's available now for free on MetaQuest and Steam. So if you want to enjoy it, the servers in these last dwindling moments until November, you can go grab it for free on Steam and Meta. Uh, servers shut down November 1st, and after that, you can play it offline still.

SPEAKER_02

What sucks is the ratings are solid.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it's got a 4.5 overall with 3.6k ratings. Like, good for them. Triangle Factory doesn't make bad games. No, you know, so be sad to see one leave. It'd be insane if now that it's free like this and it's closing, so many people hopped in that they're like, oh my god, we're making money off of it. I think it's done. No, I think once these decisions are made, it takes it would take something extreme to keep it alive, you know.

SPEAKER_02

So from Hyper Dash, we'll go to Hyper Stacks.

SPEAKER_01

What are the chances?

SPEAKER_02

Right. It's weird is this game currently rocks a 4.7 with 39 reviews for $21.99. Came out March 12th, 2021. Wow. Can't score more than 39 fucking reviews. That's crazy, dude. Anyways, uh, the reason I bring it up, some people this game is like eight years in the making, dude. But they are uh leaving early access, they're going full release on MetaQuest, and where it gets cool is that they'll also be releasing on Steam VR. There is a demo available currently on Steam you can play, but July 30th, you will be able to buy it for Steam VR. So this is yet more moves being made by developers. Slide note, well, you know, we can put this on Steam VR now. So to me, it's just more signals pointing to the new headset.

SPEAKER_01

Well, is it Steam frame or is it Steam VR?

SPEAKER_02

Oh, I think it's just Steam VR. Good question. No, it's just Steam VR. Yeah, Squirrel Bites is the developer.

SPEAKER_01

I took that as that's their PC VR version. Yeah, jumped the gun a little, didn't you?

SPEAKER_02

I did.

SPEAKER_01

It happens.

SPEAKER_02

Fuck. I wanted it to be.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Just because it was pointing to more signs. But no, it's just weird to see something that's been around for almost a decade.

SPEAKER_01

I know with only 39 reviews, that's unfortunate. That's bizarre. And they're still solid reviews. They're still carrying on with it, so props to them there.

SPEAKER_02

Um I guess one would have to ask how. You have other shuttering doors and and windows, probably just a part-time gig.

SPEAKER_01

I don't know. It's gotta be. You're not paying bills with 39 reviews. It's awesome. It's a great studio name.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

So this next one's pretty like obvious to me, but I saw a lot of people surprised by it. Uh Blade and Sorcery, much like Pavlov and Pavlov Shack. On PC VR, with pretty, you know, in some ways, it's depending on how much you mod it, heavy system requirements. You have Blade and Sorcery, and then they took and made a standalone VR version that's not in full parity. Blade and Sorcery Nomad. They're different games, they don't update at the same times. They work hard to make nomad as in parity with Blade and Sorcery base as they can, but Blade and Sorcery is the PC VR version. Blade and Sorcery Nomad is the standalone VR version on MetaQuest and Pico. Well, the developer of Blade and Sorcery, Warp Frog, they've confirmed that the PC VR version of the game will not run natively on Steam Frame. And I saw a lot of people shocked by that. But it's like if they said that Nomad couldn't run on Steam Frame, that would be a different conversation. But like, yeah, no way in hell was the PC VR version of Blade and Sorcery gonna run standalone on Steam Frame. I think a lot of people just when they read Blade and Sorcery is not running on Steam Frame, their brain went to nomad, and they're like, oh, how is this quest game not running on Steam Frame? But yeah, the PC VR version is way too heavy on on needs to run natively on a steam frame. What they didn't say anything yet is if nomad is gonna come to Steam uh for the Steam frame. And like to me, that's a no-brainer. I think they absolutely should. So let's see. Okay, but I don't know why anyone thought otherwise, but yeah, Blade and Sorcery will not run natively on a Steam frame. Hopefully they bring Blade and Sorcery nomad to Steam, so then it will. But let's see.

SPEAKER_02

Uh, since we're all about Steam Frame, all about that Steam Frame. Steam frame is doing its own little shtick with games to let you know that they run great on standalone. So they'll certify games as great on frame, certified by Valve themselves. They'll continually release small batches of games. Um, and I agree, so they don't get buried, you don't miss out on one. But we've got the newest batch. Two of them I know, one of them I don't, but I'm kind of intrigued and want to play it. Uh Deadly Delivery, fantastic. That's actually good to know that it'll be running good and has the certified stamp of approval. Uh Stellar Cafe. Interesting. Real solid use of AI in a world of people hating AI. Uh has the certified and grow growless. You start as a small gorilla, you gotta eat and shit, and then you grow big, and then the game takes on more of a form of destruction. Wow. So all three certified to run good on standalone Steam frame. That's cool. I will not throw the other game in there that I tried to the last time. Those are but each week I think they're gonna just keep can't say that.

SPEAKER_01

Well, I think once it's out. This is the last week.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, they're I think they'll just continue to certify them as they come.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, there's some requirements. I think it has to run at X frames per second, has to your test text has to be legible. Well, and that's why that certified standalone means something. I believe that it was originally they wanted it 90 frames per second, and then they dropped it to 72. Let me see the the requirements in a minute, but it's cool.

SPEAKER_02

Uh I can real quick, walkabout is on that list, by the way. Red Red Matter 2, you know how freaking good that's gonna look.

SPEAKER_01

They were, I think Walkabout was the first game to get Steam certified.

SPEAKER_02

Into black, tight nisles, pistol whip, pistol whip. So no, this is good.

SPEAKER_01

Cool stuff, and little note on Stellar Cafe, if you go to their store page, it's coming to Steam frame, flat screen steam, and Steam Deck supported.

SPEAKER_02

Damn.

SPEAKER_01

So you're gonna be able to play it not in VR as well, too.

unknown

Creepy.

SPEAKER_01

That's gonna be interesting. You gotta talk into your your sure SM7B here, you know.

SPEAKER_02

I wonder if it's learning.

SPEAKER_01

Mm-hmm. Like if it's evolving. In real time, right? Yeah. All right, well, hand tracking is where it probably still does. Right. My last one's a quick one. It's one we've talked about before when the That's why I didn't take it. The DLC was yeah, I think we talked about it a few times between the DLC being announced and such. But Cave Crave, their newest DLC, the thumb long DLC. I cannot pronounce that correctly, so bear with me. Uh, it is a cave in Thailand that was flooded in 2018 and trapped the youth, a youth football team. I I personally remember this new story when it was coming out. I'm sure a lot of people do as well. Too. Uh, this is part of their their uh they call it real caves and VR initiative, which their first one in that was the Nutty Putty Cave. And now the second one is the Thom Long Cave. Uh, it is out now officially on MetaQuest with a release coming quote unquote soon on PlayStation VR 2 and Steam. So this DLC we've heard about for some months now. I've been real excited for it, and it's officially out on MetaQuest. Like I said, PlayStation and Steam coming soon on this.

SPEAKER_02

So if you want to go shit your pants in VR in tight spaces, dude, it's it's freaking me out that they have like deadly experiences going on.

SPEAKER_01

I know. Dude, this game is intense. At least it's multiplayer now, so we can do it together. Um, I've still haven't. I've seen it go viral on Reddit, on news articles, on just plain social media. Like it's one of those games that when you post a video of it, it's pretty intense. Like it shakes the non-VR players with it as well, too. So good stuff. This was a fun week for not being the most packed list of news. I feel like we still had a lot to discuss, a lot of fun. One of these days, too. I just want to start doing some discussion topics for the episode as well, too. Kind of like what we're doing at the start. I think we could have a lot of fun. I think we could have a lot of fun with it. I think it's a way we can do both. Yep. Totally have a little news segment and then uh the discussion topics of the day as well. That'll probably be the system critical three, right?

SPEAKER_02

You fucking idiot.

SPEAKER_01

He didn't say uh, he did not say F and No, he just said you idiot. You idiot. That's all he said, you know. Then he said you owe me $20 for that key.

SPEAKER_02

I was gonna ask him for a key, but I don't want to ask him for a key now. I'm I'm all set. If one falls on me organically, cool. Too funny.

SPEAKER_01

So if you enjoy this episode, as always, subscribe, rate is five stars, join the Patreon, code word rough talk vr at checkout. We're wrapping this up to go do some painting. Uh, we're getting so freaking close now. We're starting to to shop around for the actual furnishing, furnishing of the studio. We're looking at if we do a sh, I think we want to go standing desk for this, just for animation of the hands, and like we're much more in it standing than sitting, and I sit so much for my day-to-day life anyway. So we're like, do we do two little desks, like one for each of us? Do we do one shared kind of newscaster desk? But we're in the shopping for furniture stage of this now. We're we're so close. So wish us luck with painting. I think we'll make some good progress. I think we'll get most of it today, and then we'll just have a little bit to touch up on it next week. I have a dumpster coming in a couple weeks to clear out a bunch of shit from my garage as well. And we'll we're shopping for furniture now. So stay tuned. We were talking with Spoon, he told us we should do a rough-a-thon right from the start of it.
