PRAYER OF LETTING GO
To You do I belong, O God,
into Your hands I surrender my life.
Pour out Your Spirit upon me
that I may love You perfectly,
and serve You faithfully
until my soul rests in You.
Is there any better hymn to open our prayer today on this, the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary? Reminding me of one of my favorite paintings with the same name from the Baroque era by the artist Peter Paul Rubens of the Assumption. It's the art that I use for today's prayer. Can you imagine what that must have been like? Welcome to prayer, brothers and sisters. I'm Father Ron, and this is the God Minute. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Hail Mary, full of grace. Blessed are you among women.
SPEAKER_02Psalm 153. Slow my hurried spirit. Mary, teach me your song. The song that rises when an ordinary life recognizes the extraordinary goodness of God.
SPEAKER_00Open my eyes to the grace that burned in your heart, a fire that opened your spirit to the miracle of life around you. The warmth of morning light, the kindness of a friend, the song of the Almighty in the birds overhead.
SPEAKER_02Keep me from rushing past the quiet miracles of today. Slow my hurried spirit until wonder returns and gratitude becomes my way of seeing.
SPEAKER_00With you, I will remember that the Almighty has done great things. Not only long ago, but here, in this moment, within this unfinished life.
SPEAKER_02Blessed Mother, teach my soul to magnify the Lord. Let thanksgiving rise within me until every blessing becomes a hymn, every heartbeat becomes praise, and my whole life sings. Holy is his name.
SPEAKER_00Glory be to the Father, to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
SPEAKER_02As it was in the beginning, is now and will be forever. Amen.
SPEAKER_01Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. The word of the Lord. She treasured him because she knew all these things were from God. And they would be world-altering. The word in her heart indicated that Mary did not fully understand everything she was experiencing and learning about herself. She knew he had a divine calling. But how could she imagine what an absolute clarity? She's given fragments. Not until Mary is at the foot of the cross. And Louis every time the resurrection days later. And God's time is made clear to her. That's when Mary has her moment. In my own life. I think of my formation for the priesthood. While I ultimately left. It had a profound impact on my life and spirituality. It was there that I met the future Father Ron Hoy, who would become a lifelong ally and like a brother to me. Little did I know then that years later I would be working with and for Father Ron as a reflector and prayer leader for the God Minute. It seems my life has come full circle. And so I invite you to take time to ponder the circumstances and people that God has put in your path. While God's plan may not be immediately evident, you may see a divine thread running through all of them. Perhaps, like Mary and me, you too will have your aha moment.
SPEAKER_03And with one voice, together we pray. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen. Let us pray. Mary, Mother of God, you treasured the goodness of the Lord and pondered his love within your heart. On this feast of your assumption, teach us to notice the quiet ways God blesses our life, and may we never take his goodness for granted. Help us to carry his love within as you did, with gratitude and trust, until every moment becomes a reminder of how deeply we are loved. And we ask through your Son, our Lord, Jesus. To you do I belong, O God. Into your hands I surrender my life. Pour out your spirit upon me, that I may love you perfectly and serve you faithfully until my soul rests in you. Thank you for joining us today to honor our Holy Mother as she received her reward for her yes to God, as Umberto so beautifully shared with us today. And so, friends, I'll leave you with a song to take with you into the day as we now go with his mantle of blessing upon us, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Mother Mary, pray for us.
SPEAKER_05And friends, we'll see you tomorrow for breaking open the word as I kneel before you, Mother of Christ, my heart is silent. I seek your face. Take all my worries, take all my fears, wrap them in love that dries my tears. Lead me to Jesus all that I give to you as I kneel before you candles flame, I lift my heart in Jesus' name, your gentle smile, your tender hand, guide me to heaven's promise. Teach me to off the whole way through joy and star through loss and game. Help me to trust in love again on a deep hold me that I give to you mercy to lift my soul to writer death as I knew before you Queen of Light. So protect my soul from sin's dark flame, reading my heart in Jesus' name When tears fall softly you understand, you wipe them gently with your hand. Your voice reminds me not to fear for Christ your son is always near.
