Scripture tells us that God will never give us more hardships or trials than we can bear. No one besides Jesus was given as much to bear as the Blessed Mother. On this, her day, let us ask Mary, our mother, to intercede for us, to give us strength, hope, and peace. Thank you for joining us today, and welcome to prayer. A reading from the first letter of St. Paul to the Corinthians, chapter 10, verse 13. No trial has come to you but what is human. God is faithful and will not let you be tried beyond your strength. But with the trial, he will also provide a way out so that you may be able to bear it. The word of the Lord. Superhero stories have captured our imaginations for decades. Countless kids have made ER visits after testing their ability to fly. Comic books have been written, movies have been made. And whether you are Team DC or Team Marvel, we love a good story of someone to swoop in with rescue in the midst of trials. Some superheroes receive their powers through a fluke happening, like Spider-Man or the Hulk. Others from the clothes they don to do their work. Either way, we're inspired by their courage and generosity. And today's reading, St. Paul reminds us that we all have a little superpower within us. The difference is that our strength doesn't come from an injection, an outfit, or a spider bite, but rather the very life of God, which is given to us as pure gift. In a more effective way than comic book characters demonstrate, it is grace, the presence of God dwelling within us that strengthens and upholds us in times of trial. Our problems and struggles may seem big, but God is bigger. Things may weigh on us and test our strength, but God is stronger. We believe in a God who rose from the dead. In so doing, he provided a way out in what looked like an impossible situation. Sometimes we're stretched in believing that there's no way out, that we're stuck or trapped or defeated. But help is always on the way. And in fact, it's already at hand. And that help, that grace is always sufficient. I've often heard people quip God won't give you anything you can't handle. And perhaps that adage is rooted in this scripture. But it's important to remember that it's not up to us to handle anything. Our faithful God wants to and is already doing the heavy lifting. Whatever we may be holding, he is holding us. Whatever battle we feel like we may be fighting, the victory is already his. Help us to claim the victory you have already won for us, and to trust that the cross you have borne allows us to bear current trials in deeper union with you. Amen.

Let us pray. Heavenly Father, when we face temptation and trials, remind us that you are always faithful. Through the loving intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, help us trust in your grace and remain faithful to your will. May Mary, who faithfully stood beside Jesus through every trial, teach us to place our complete trust in you. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
