One I got away from. One I just discovered. Both protect your momentum.

I don't believe you have to live rigidly, but you also can't live too relaxed, either. I've discovered I can have my cake and eat it too. :)

All right. 3, 2, 1. Let's get it. Boy, this is why I absolutely love doing what I do. Ab I, I just love creating podcasts because there's one thing that I've gotten away from, didn't realize it, and there's another thing that I just had an awareness. And so let me unpack both of them, and these are both ways to both of them protect your momentum and both of them, before I forget the thought, both of them protect the season that you're in, because I do believe life is full of seasons. And so what, what worked for you at one time? It may not be working for you now, and a lot of times we beat ourselves up. Well, let me rephrase that. A lot of times I beat myself up because I'm trying to use the habits that I used in an old season and apply it to the new season, and I just can't seem to catch that rhythm. And then just like, well, you don't want it bad enough and you don't, you don't want it like you used to, and all these kind of different things. And so, you know, as I'm thinking about this, you know, thi this year is going to be a year of consistency for me. Like if that, if that's my one word, it's, it's consistency and I'm consistent, yet I don't always have the consistency. Like I, I wish I did, and I don't believe that life should be so rigid. That you just shut the world out and don't enjoy life, but you can't be a hell raiser either. And so as I was thinking about that this morning, I was listening to Shane Parrish, uh, and James Clear. James Clear was on Shane's podcast, and I don't think he even said it, but I remember it from Atomic Habits. And it's something that always stuck with me, but I got away from it. And it's the, it's the, it's the idea of never miss twice. So that's something that one way to protect your momentum is the concept of never Miss Twice. And this is something that I used to talk to my salespeople about, and I will talk to them about this now because I forgot about it and this is what's good. You know, I record these episodes and then I come back to 'em years later and I'm like, Ugh, something I got away from. So lemme explain What never Miss Twice is when you're trying to get this. This rhythm going Okay. The, the never miss twice is a concept of if, if you, some things pop up, circumstances pop up in a day, okay? And you can't, and you, you miss a workout. Don't, don't miss the second one. Never miss twice. Never go back to back with it. And so because the, the first, the first day is circumstances. Sometimes they're outside of your control. The next day that you miss is a day of it's, it's a choice. The third becomes condemnation and that, and then like then, then what do you do? You go around, you tell everybody, man, you know, I was doing so good. And then. This came up and that becomes the event and that becomes the reason why you can't be successful, blah, blah, blah. And we have that same thing I tell my salespeople, like never miss twice. Meaning there may be days that you can't prospect, there may be days that you're actually having to service a lot of customers, or you got some service heat, or you got some catching up to do or reporting or whatever, and you don't prospect like you normally do, never miss twice. And so. When you, if you miss the second time, what, bro, you're just a basket case. And then the third day you're con, you're not only condemning yourself, but you're also trying to swing for the fences. So this protects the momentum. So, hey things, and it gives you some, some leniency. Okay? Things pop up and you can build in some forgiveness and some grace, I could think is the word I'm, I'm thinking about. And so this will give you some grace to say, okay. This happened sucks. Never missed twice. Okay, now here's, here's the aha moment for me today. Never do it twice. So never miss twice. Protects the momentum that when it comes to a workout, you don't miss the second one. Never do it twice. Gives you the flexibility in life. You're not so rigid. So when you want to have an indulgence, a night on the town with friends, whatever the case may be, don't do it twice. So you do it once, but don't do it the second day. Okay. They, these, these two days can't link together. And so when you, when you don't do it twice, you don't allow that rhythm to catch in because what's, what's sneaky about habits is a lot of times there are the fuse, right? And so there are things that you worked so hard to get away from. And sometimes you kind of drop your guard a little bit. You're like, okay, you know, I, I've been really, I've been a year strict at this. Let me enjoy it. I get it. And there's nothing wrong with that. I don't, I don't think we should run around life being robots. Okay. But also, we can't just be this hell raiser where we just blow the town up all the time either. So this protects your non-negotiables and your non-negotiables. Are things that I gotta get done. Okay? So the non-negotiables, because I always say, and you've heard me say it many times, if you negotiate with yourself, you're dead. Right? And so this is a way to have some flexibility, yet protect the momentum, maintain the momentum, and grow the momentum. But also. Enjoy life as well. So never do it twice. Doesn't allow these things to connect together, because once they do, you get a couple of two or three of these days together, it becomes a lot harder to break. Okay. That's why, you know, you've heard me say two, like justice once isn't a moment. It's a mindset and justice. Once you're, you're, you've gotta be careful of that. I, I, it's not that. You can't enjoy some things. I, you got to. I mean, there, there are, there are people that I've followed on social media, man. Who were like hardcore, rigid and then died of a heart attack, and I'm like, what the hell? Okay. But then there are also people who are just complete hell raisers and they outlive those people. So, you know, I don't, I don't wanna be the hell raiser, but I don't want to be Mr. Robot where I just. Shun my family and friends because, you know, I'm, I'm Mr. Task Master here, and I don't have any flexibility. There's no, there's no color in my life. I wanna enjoy life. Okay? But I don't want to indulge overindulge either. Okay? So this is a way, again, to protect your momentum. Never miss twice. Okay. Circumstances pop up. Don't go back to back. Force yourself, force the action. Get back in there even if you have to, even if it's a little bit slower than it normally is, it's okay. You got it in you. You did miss twice. Okay. Never do it twice. Is. Enjoy it. Enjoy your night on town. Have some drinks, whatever the case may be. Bust up a seafood platter. Order dessert if you want to. Just don't do it the second time in a row, okay? Don't do it. Back to back, and this will keep you going, growing and having fun. Alright? Keep it simple, keep it moving. Never settle. Stay tough. Peace.
