Dissolving Into Awareness: Beyond the 'I' on the Spiritual Path
The spiritual journey's greatest obstacle is our own identification with a separate self that's seeking enlightenment. True seeking means recognizing that what we're looking for is already within us - there has only ever been the Self.
• The journey is circular, bringing us back to what was always present but overlooked
• Self-realization isn't something to be attained but the understanding that only the Self exists
• Body, mind, name and form are merely narratives playing out within awareness
• Happiness arises naturally when we dissolve our identification with a separate self
• Living as the formless means operating from the understanding that you are not the doer
• Even the desire for enlightenment can delay the recognition of what you already are
• True surrender isn't an action but a relaxation into what is already present
• The humility of considering oneself a perpetual seeker remains vital even after profound realizations
• Pure consciousness wouldn't declare itself "enlightened" - that comes from the separate self
• By dissolving all concepts and identifications, we discover our natural state of bliss and contentment

While you're on this spiritual journey, there's always a feeling that there is a me. I am on this journey and I'm on this path. I have to achieve something. I don't know if I can achieve it or not achieve it, but I'm going to go for it, or I may give up it or I may give up. The biggest problem that we have in the spiritual journey is the notion that there is an I that is on the journey. Now, what I mean by that is not necessarily the I of awareness, but the me and mine that's normally associated with the body and the mind. So when we are invested in this body and in this mind, when we identify with it completely, then it's very difficult for us to really rest in awareness, really to be in that boundless, peaceful awareness. If we are to be true seekers, then the whole point of seeking is to actually realize that the one that you're seeking is already within you, that this whole journey is like a full circle and you only realize it's a full circle if you are consciously aware. Consciously and acutely aware, I would say, and acutely aware, I would say. This path is not about getting yourself to enlightenment. It's not about you getting to self-realization or achieving, or attaining self-realization. It's actually realizing that there was only the self to begin with. There was never a me or a mind. There was never a me or a mind. There was never a body and a mind. There was never a name and a form. It was literally just an imagination that was going on. A little narrative, and the narrative isn't bad, it serves a. So I'm not going to condemn the narrative and I'm not going to condemn the imagination. But you see, to truly be a seeker, you really have to allow yourself to remove all aspect of your existence, all aspect of your existence, meaning that you don't seek with memory, you seek with the freshness of the moment, you seek with the understanding of what is here right now. You can be happy right now by simply dissolving. In fact, let's say very simply let yourself dissolve. Let yourself dissolve to awareness, to pure consciousness, to Brahman, to this Nirankar, this pure, formless awareness. Just dissolve yourself away and you see, in this dissolving you're actually solving life's biggest question, life's biggest purpose, and that is to realize who you really are.
Speaker 1:You see, we can even bring up the notion that, oh well, if I'm not the body of mind, then I must be a soul. Well, what is the soul? The soul is none other than God itself. Even if you say it's a part of God, even then that's still God. It's not separate to God, it's still in the oneness of God. So, even when we say there's a part, it's actually misleading somewhat, but necessary also for beginners to understand, and sometimes it's easier to digest, because the whole notion that you know, one is pure awareness, is or one is god, is not so easily uh, it's not so easily accepted or understood, and and the dangerous aspect is that it can become the ego. So let yourself dissolve, don't let there be a notion of yourself.
Speaker 1:And what I mean by this is like yes, in the actions, we, we do remember, we're not the doer. So your awareness, the body is doing, the mind is doing the thinking, you know you not, you're just simply the awareness where all that is arising and you're just simply the witness, consciousness, of that. You're the witness of that. That's it and that is what is meant to live as the formless, and ultimately that's how we are to live. We are to live with that understanding that we are formless, and then anything we say or we do is coming from a place of consciousness, coming from a deeper place. It's not necessarily just something we say on a whim.
Speaker 1:Say on a whim, see, the biggest thing to understand in this journey is that if you still have some sort of desire, even for enlightenment or whatever, or you, you think you can surrender in this moment, and you desire to surrender, see, when you're desiring it's only delaying to be what you are right now. You know a lot of people say that they just surrender to God and let God do everything. But you know we can't actually do that because, you see, the moment we, we say this, we are performing an action. So this whole let yourself dissolve or let yourself surrender is not an action, it's a relaxation, it's just a recognition of what is and what is here right now. And when you speak from that place, when you do, when your actions are done from that place, when your intentions are from that place, then that place is full of peace, calmness, beauty. See, beauty is a big thing, it comes from grace and that is the way you can be a fruitful seeker.
Speaker 1:Now, the reason why I say a seeker is because, even if you find the very thing you're looking for, you're not going to find the very thing you're looking for being a seeker just keeps you humble. Because the moment you say, oh well, I'm enlightened or I'm self-realized, then the question will naturally arise but who is saying that I am self-realized? Because surely will Brahman, or pure consciousness, say, hey, I'm enlightened or hey, I'm self-realized? Like that wouldn't happen, wouldn't happen, that would be weird. Like, think about it logically if you are this pure, formless awareness, how can that ever declare itself as enlightened? Yes, again, for the sake of the world, to understand that things are put into boxes and there are differences, for sure, but ultimately an enlightened person doesn't have to say that. Because, again, let yourself dissolve, let all your concepts dissolve away, let all your desires dissolve away, let all your ambitions, let all your name and form just let it all just dissolve and just dissolve and dissolve, dissolve into awareness, the moment the thought arises that I'm this body, I'm this mind, just dissolve those, that that association, just dissolve it and you can do it. And that is.
Speaker 1:And welcome to the Beardy Mystic Podcast. I'm your host, rahul N Singh, and ultimately that's what I have to say because it's a podcast, but I found the most amount of happiness or happiness arises when one just rests into pure awareness, pure formlessness. And when one does that, there's bliss, there's peace, there's contentment. There's nothing more that you want or desire. And when one does that, there's bliss, there's peace, there's contentment. There's nothing more that you want or desire. You're just complete in this moment and it's only this moment that's really eternal here and it will always be eternal. It will always be timeless, boundless. There's no beginning or end to it. It doesn't start and it doesn't finish. Just understand that. That's what it is. So that's the end of the episode. See you in the next one. Take care, namaste.
