For Christians, our greatest hope comes from the greatest defeat, Jesus the Son of God being handed over to death on a cross – a message which the Apostle Paul describes as “foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God” (1 Cor. 1:18). Christ’s work on the cross stands as an invitation to all those who follow him to take the risk of looking like “fools” so that others might know the transforming love of God.
