We're peeling back the curtain on our personal goal-setting strategies, and trust us, you'll want to take notes. From my practical method of breaking down audacious goals into manageable milestones to Zeke's masterful mental organisation that would put a certain fictional legal mind to shame, we're serving up an abundance of motivational insights to ensure your 2024 is lined with success.

Let's face it, a new year without new goals is like a ledger without numbers—it just doesn't add up! That's why we're bringing our A-game to talk about the nitty-gritty of goal fulfilment. Whether you're aiming to give your savings account a buff, take your business to new heights, or finally commit to those gym sessions, we've got the inspiration and tips you need. Speaker 1:

Welcome back to another episode of the Finance Bible Podcast. Zeke here and your co-host, oscar, but before we get into it, please note that nothing in this podcast should ever be considered as personal financial advice. Of course, if that is what you are seeking, reach out. We'll get you in touch with the correct professionals. Get the job done properly, sit back, relax and enjoy the show. Let's get into it. And happy New Year's. Ah, yes, happy New Year's. Zeke says it with the hands up. He's a happy man. It's a happy time of the year. Hands are up in the sky.

Speaker 1:

2024, we have hit the number I've been waiting for. It's 2024. It is 2024. Hang on a minute. All right, in my head it was 2025. Oh, really. Well, it's good, you've got a year to make up. I don't know what's actually happened there. Maybe I feel like Was it 2024? Yeah, it is. Yeah, it is. That's the first 24. Yeah, that's, it's all right Now. Well, look, you can process that in your own time. The different year yeah, I don't know what's going on there. But 2024, new year, fresh slate, new goals, new opportunities and a new mindset for a lot of people, new loved ones, new year, 2024. Everyone's up and about, everyone's happy. As we said, we hope you're. Christmas was wonderful and new year, new you. It's a regular thing. Now, when I said you, I looked at you but I was talking to the microphone. So oh no, I didn't think you said to me. I just wanted to make sure Everyone get your goals and check if you haven't already. We briefly said it last week Don likes to physically write goals down and then he can tick them off, bang, bang when they're done Short term, medium, long term and you like to write out.

Speaker 1:

Actually, if it is, say, a medium term goal, you like to write down how you get to that right, yeah, how you get to it. Three milestones of no, what do you got to hit before you hit it. So let's just say you want to save $10,000. So number one might be saving 2K. Milestone. Number two might be saving 7K and then number three will be the amount you wish to save. But I think having milestones is important. Like, for example, let's say you have a company, you want to sign up three clients in the next three months. Well, your milestones each month how many clients you sign up? Ideally one a month if you want to hit three. But yeah, having milestones I think is very, very important for myself, but other people don't really care.

Speaker 1:

Other people will find that writing down their goals, like yourself, you're in the head Mate. They're mentally Yours, are stored in aisle 14C and, as I said, my brain's like a Google Drive. It's somewhere in there. If anyone's seen suits with Mike Ross and Harvey Specter, let me just confirm. I think it is called Mike Ross. You're going to make a comparison to me in fictional character. Well, let me just confirm. They're better played by Zac Efron. No, it's Mike Ross. There we are. Yep, mike Ross. So Mike Ross in suits is Well, he got a job at a law firm, but he's not a lawyer, he just has a photographic memory. Oh, I should be a lawyer if I'm not on here and can read things and then all of a sudden, he knows it. So don't get a big head, but I reckon some of your memory in terms of work and goals and things like that remind me of him sometimes. I appreciate it. Is he a superhero in the film? What's going on? Like you're starting. Thanks everybody. Rachel Zane, aka Megan Markle Wow, well, that's a ship.

Speaker 1:

I'll take that.

Speaker 1:

Well, there you go. But yeah, everyone, get your goals in check If you're going. One of the most common ones is going to the gym. Everyone loves it, get there, do it. But what I notice and what Don notices is people who consistently go to the gym is, in that week the gym is absolutely packed. It's Chocoblock. About a week later they're all gone. So just keep with it, keep consistent. Don't worry about what other people in the gym are thinking. Just get in there and do it.

Speaker 1:

Whatever your goal is, whatever the reason that it doesn't come to fruition, just think about that before you go ahead and commit to it. So if give me an example of a goal, I want to pay an extra $2,000 off my home loan. If you want to pay an extra $2,000 off your home loan, think of the reasons that that might fail. So, for example, in the gym one, why might it fail? It might get too hard, you might be tired or you might be embarrassed of what people think. In the home loan scenario, you might not be able to control your spending habits. You might be doing this and you might be committed to certain things. You might need to cancel subscriptions. So think about what could hold you back from that goal and eliminate that barrier before starting that goal, get in front of it, figure it out and get it done.

Speaker 1:

I want this year, for all our listeners, to be the year that you can actually sit back and kick your goals and have them done and help you get closer to reaching financial freedom, because you're now going to fall 12 months. If you're wanting to, for example, get a higher income, well, you have the tips of the train to help you get there. Now is the first day of the year and you have 364 more days to get that sort for yourself, depending on what time you're listening to this. Yeah, it could be 360, it could be 365. Who knows? But the world is your oyster, the year is your oyster, so get in it, get on it and give it a crack. Yeah, we plan to do a little recap this year At the end of the year.

Speaker 1:

Go back and look at how some of our listeners have actually grown over time. If anyone wants to get in touch and let us know where you're starting, what your goals are, flick it to us on an Instagram DM. We will keep it private, obviously, yeah, but it would be good to come back with success stories and perhaps even get you on the podcast to chat to you about what your goals were, how you got to it and how you're feeling now that you've accomplished them or even if you haven't accomplished them, you might be closed too but showing the amount of space that you've grown in the time. But I think that's the realm we'll be going down and the path we'll be going down in the future getting our listeners and clients real life examples, real life success stories, to inspire other listeners that they can do it too. Yeah, although we are the finance bubble podcast, we do notice we tend to vary into other topics like girl setting or just general motivation. Yeah, because we love all that motivational stuff and entrepreneurship and giving it a red hot crack. Because you got a life, you may as well not waste it.

Speaker 1:

Yes, everything that we're talking about will come out over the next 12 months and hopefully we can just come back and everyone's had a great year. Everyone's still healthy and well and, yeah, we'll catch you all next time. We'll catch you then. Have a great start to the year. We hope you enjoyed the episode.
