LFTF Ep 001: Mario Characters That Aren't Mario

Studio Low Five

This episode, Luke and Alex kick off a brand-new segment: Low Five Top Five, where they rank their five favorite whatevers in gaming. First up? Top 5 Mario Characters That Aren’t Mario.

It’s a surprisingly heated—and deeply nostalgic—ride through Nintendo’s Mushroom Kingdom. Expect strong opinions, twisted logic, and more than a few honorable mentions (and dishonorable disses). The lists may be Mario-free, but the stakes are high and the takes are hotter than a fire flower.

This episode is unofficially brought to you in part by crystals. 🔮

LFTF - Mario Characters that aren't Mario

00:00:00 Alex Stahlmann: All right. Uh, now we're recording within Adobe. So why don't you say a couple words and I'll see if it is indeed recording you.

00:00:10 luke: Scooby Dooby Doo,

00:00:12 Alex Stahlmann: Nice.

00:00:12 luke: how are you?

00:00:14 Alex Stahlmann: Uh, good. Good, good, dude. Right on. You ready to rock and roll with this thing?

00:00:19 luke: Yes, sir.

00:00:20 Alex Stahlmann: Alright, cool. Yo, what up? Welcome to another episode of Low five Gaming. We got a special one for you today. You got your host, me, Alex, and my brother, Luke. What up, Luke?

00:00:34 luke: Hello, sir. How you doing?

00:00:35 Alex Stahlmann: Did that feel radio-y? Did that feel like we're on the radio right there? Was that a good radio introduction?

00:00:40 luke: If you want it to be for your ego, yes,

00:00:42 Alex Stahlmann: Hmm.

00:00:42 luke: but I don't feel like you're not shock jocky or zany enough for the radio, so

00:00:46 Alex Stahlmann: Dang.

00:00:46 luke: I'm

00:00:47 Alex Stahlmann: What

00:00:47 luke: gonna need

00:00:47 Alex Stahlmann: about

00:00:47 luke: some

00:00:47 Alex Stahlmann: like late

00:00:47 luke: fart

00:00:48 Alex Stahlmann: night radio?

00:00:48 luke: noises.

00:00:48 Alex Stahlmann: You know, like some like

00:00:50 luke: It's like college radio, you're a sophomore, you have some seasoning to go, that's kind of the

00:00:54 Alex Stahlmann: All

00:00:54 luke: vibe.

00:00:54 Alex Stahlmann: right. Have we been doing this for like three years? I'm not seasoned enough?

00:00:58 luke: I mean, for podcasts, sure, but our intros are always hella awkward. Behind

00:01:02 Alex Stahlmann: Fair.

00:01:02 luke: the scenes, we've often had to do it like three times and it's, it's

00:01:06 Alex Stahlmann: Well,

00:01:06 luke: odd.

00:01:07 Alex Stahlmann: we're not redoing this one. And it's not your typical episode either. This is our inaugural lo-fi top five episode.

00:01:18 luke: How about low fivesicles? Like testicles, but

00:01:21 Alex Stahlmann: Low

00:01:21 luke: they're

00:01:21 Alex Stahlmann: five,

00:01:21 luke: low fives.

00:01:21 Alex Stahlmann: because it's a list. I don't

00:01:23 luke: Uh, sure.

00:01:24 Alex Stahlmann: like it. I

00:01:24 luke: No?

00:01:24 Alex Stahlmann: like low five, top five. I'm

00:01:26 luke: Low

00:01:26 Alex Stahlmann: the marketing

00:01:26 luke: five top

00:01:27 Alex Stahlmann: man

00:01:27 luke: five?

00:01:27 Alex Stahlmann: here. And

00:01:27 luke: Low highs?

00:01:29 Alex Stahlmann: that's what we're doing.

00:01:30 luke: Low

00:01:30 Alex Stahlmann: Low

00:01:30 luke: highs?

00:01:31 Alex Stahlmann: five, top five. LFTF.

00:01:33 luke: Low

00:01:33 Alex Stahlmann: Mm-hmm.

00:01:34 luke: fives, low five top fives.

00:01:35 Alex Stahlmann: Lo-fi's top guys.

00:01:38 luke: Nope, ruined it. Made it all fucking corporate and shit.

00:01:43 Alex Stahlmann: Oh, man. Yeah, but dude, but this is, I'm excited, man. I'm excited. We, uh, we'll get into, uh, we'll still do our, our side question a little later on. Talk about the games we've been playing and whatnot. But the, uh, the main, the beefy part of the episode, the main, the main event is a low five top five. And our subject is the top five Mario characters that aren't Mario.

00:02:06 luke: Which kind of made me laugh because Mario's kind of a boring boner. So, like, it's just all the top five characters. Like, Mario would not have cracked my top five. So,

00:02:16 Alex Stahlmann: Oh, fair enough. But I'm

00:02:16 luke: you know.

00:02:17 Alex Stahlmann: gonna make a couple extra rules to this though, dude. So

00:02:20 luke: I

00:02:20 Alex Stahlmann: it

00:02:20 luke: wondered.

00:02:20 Alex Stahlmann: is a list. It's your top five. So it's like, it's, it's whatever, dude. It's like your, it's subjective. It's your opinion. That's fine. Your opinions aren't always great. So it's whatever, but that's what it is. We'll get to that when we get to that. But, uh, but, you know, like, you have to have a little backing and here's the deal. The rules are this, no Mario, no variations of Mario. So like if you have, I don't know,

00:02:41 luke: Tanuki

00:02:41 Alex Stahlmann: Tanuki Mario.

00:02:42 luke: Mario.

00:02:42 Alex Stahlmann: Yeah,

00:02:42 luke: Yeah, I love Tanuki

00:02:43 Alex Stahlmann: not,

00:02:43 luke: Mario.

00:02:44 Alex Stahlmann: he's dope, but he's not, he's not eligible.

00:02:47 luke: Sure. How

00:02:47 Alex Stahlmann: Right on. Uh, and that goes for any variants of, um, the other characters as well. Uh,

00:02:54 luke: do you feel about Donkey Kong?

00:02:57 Alex Stahlmann: let me talk about Donkey Kong a little bit.

00:02:59 luke: I just mean, is he so much of his own thing that he and his extended universe will be treated as such? Or are you putting them within the Mario canon? Because I understood how you feel about that.

00:03:13 Alex Stahlmann: Uh, he, he would be, Donkey Kong and his crew would be included within the Mario canon.

00:03:18 luke: Okay, I guess he was in the first game. Um, I'm gonna go ahead and say Diddy Kong is off the table.

00:03:24 Alex Stahlmann: Nah, dude.

00:03:25 luke: So just Donkey Kong.

00:03:27 Alex Stahlmann: Diddy plays. Diddy's in.

00:03:29 luke: Is Diddy Kong in a Mario game?

00:03:32 Alex Stahlmann: He's in a Donkey Kong game.

00:03:34 luke: Correct.

00:03:36 Alex Stahlmann: But Donkey Kong spurs for Mario, so I'm gonna allow it.

00:03:39 luke: Fine. Cranky Kong, number one. Get this fucking thing over with then.

00:03:46 Alex Stahlmann: Word. Uh, I think that is the, I think that's the only real rules.

00:03:50 luke: All right.

00:03:51 Alex Stahlmann: No

00:03:51 luke: Uh, do

00:03:51 Alex Stahlmann: Mario's

00:03:52 luke: you

00:03:52 Alex Stahlmann: in

00:03:52 luke: have

00:03:52 Alex Stahlmann: special suits. No

00:03:53 luke: a

00:03:53 Alex Stahlmann: shadow

00:03:53 luke: criteria

00:03:54 Alex Stahlmann: Mario's.

00:03:54 luke: for how you came up with your list? What is your, what's your criteria answer?

00:03:59 Alex Stahlmann: Well,

00:04:00 luke: What's your

00:04:00 Alex Stahlmann: we can

00:04:00 luke: rubric?

00:04:00 Alex Stahlmann: kind of get into our reasoning when we, when we make our picks or when we list off our, our list, but um,

00:04:06 luke: No,

00:04:06 Alex Stahlmann: but

00:04:06 luke: I want to

00:04:07 Alex Stahlmann: yeah.

00:04:07 luke: talk about it right now, dude. Fuck off.

00:04:09 Alex Stahlmann: Fair enough. Well, I have a, I have like a beefy, like, I have a beefy, uh,

00:04:12 luke: A preamble

00:04:13 Alex Stahlmann: honorable,

00:04:13 luke: to your

00:04:13 Alex Stahlmann: I

00:04:13 luke: selection?

00:04:13 Alex Stahlmann: have

00:04:14 luke: Uh.

00:04:14 Alex Stahlmann: a beefy, like, honorable mention list that I'll get, we can get into, like, before we top our, our number ones, maybe. Um.

00:04:19 luke: I also wanted to go one to five. How do you feel about that? Supposed

00:04:22 Alex Stahlmann: You just start

00:04:23 luke: to

00:04:23 Alex Stahlmann: with

00:04:23 luke: five.

00:04:23 Alex Stahlmann: the best and

00:04:24 luke: Yeah,

00:04:24 Alex Stahlmann: then go to,

00:04:24 luke: dude. Yeah,

00:04:25 Alex Stahlmann: I feel

00:04:26 luke: dude.

00:04:26 Alex Stahlmann: silly about that, I don't

00:04:28 luke: Nah,

00:04:28 Alex Stahlmann: know, we could.

00:04:28 luke: not a chance. Not a chance. Let me get the intense feelings out of the way and then I'll just pick the goofy ones.

00:04:37 Alex Stahlmann: No, we'll, we'll go five, five up. Um,

00:04:39 luke: Duh.

00:04:40 Alex Stahlmann: then we'll start with, uh, we'll

00:04:41 luke: Boo.

00:04:41 Alex Stahlmann: do a little coin flip to see who starts first. How about that?

00:04:44 luke: Are we not allowed to pick each other's people? Oh,

00:04:47 Alex Stahlmann: Nah, we can, but

00:04:48 luke: okay.

00:04:48 Alex Stahlmann: you know, it's just kind of for the flow of it and all. Uh, this is a 256 gigabyte SD card that is acting as my corner. For coin flip. Uh,

00:04:58 luke: You're out

00:04:58 Alex Stahlmann: heads,

00:04:58 luke: of control.

00:04:58 Alex Stahlmann: heads being the, well, the, you know, the heads here. People, uh, people listening to podcasts, great format here. And, um,

00:05:04 luke: Hmm.

00:05:05 Alex Stahlmann: you know, there's your head, there's your tail. It's caught in the air. Uh,

00:05:07 luke: Heads.

00:05:08 Alex Stahlmann: winner.

00:05:08 luke: Always heads. Cheater.

00:05:11 Alex Stahlmann: Heads, bruh,

00:05:12 luke: There

00:05:12 Alex Stahlmann: you get

00:05:12 luke: we

00:05:12 Alex Stahlmann: to

00:05:12 luke: go.

00:05:12 Alex Stahlmann: go first. Why don't you, why don't you start us off our inaugural low five, top five list.

00:05:18 luke: First of all, I wanna get through my criteria because since

00:05:20 Alex Stahlmann: Oh

00:05:20 luke: I went

00:05:21 Alex Stahlmann: yeah.

00:05:21 luke: first, I can go through all my criteria first and I'm just, just spread out, dude. I'm gonna take like twenty minutes here. Alright, man. So when I'm thinking about this, uh, first off, let's just be real. These are mascots. These are Disney. I'm gonna go straight up with cuteness. Um, we really gotta grant in cuteness. Now, cuteness is a range, right? I mean, there's the obvious, like, Yoshi. But then there's like, you know, Wario with his portly self and his sick mustache. That's cute in a different way. Kind of like an evil, maniacal cute, but cute

00:05:50 Alex Stahlmann: Great

00:05:50 luke: nevertheless.

00:05:50 Alex Stahlmann: golf outfit

00:05:51 luke: Huh?

00:05:51 Alex Stahlmann: too, bro.

00:05:52 luke: Huh?

00:05:52 Alex Stahlmann: He's got a great golf outfit as well.

00:05:55 luke: Yeah, go Vikings, just generally purple gold, what a bro. Um, second off is funniness. Um, and that seems pretty obvious, but. As you'll get into in our lists, I'm sure, uh, Mario, as the game has progressed, I mean, even from the beginning, they have a lot of quips. Not always the most voice acting outside of just goofy noises, but uh, does this character make me laugh? Which goes back to Mario, boner, not cool, not a good hang, not good with the quips. Alright dude, he's just like there. Whereas all of the people add all of the flavor to his universe. Um, with Chris Pratt being the exception. I actually don't mind him as Mario, but I digress. And then the third and perhaps the most important factor is, um, standalone game.

00:06:43 Alex Stahlmann: Mm-hmm.

00:06:43 luke: Do you have a universe outside of your own? Do you have your own signature titles or at least like standout moments in games, big games? And then I guess like a little bit of a bonus that carries somewhat a weight is, uh, how are you in Mario Kart, Smash Bros, Mario Golf, the extended Mario Olympic universe? Like, are you someone I would pick? Is that all settling well with you?

00:07:06 Alex Stahlmann: I like that. It

00:07:07 luke: Yeah.

00:07:07 Alex Stahlmann: was good. Good job.

00:07:08 luke: Um, thank

00:07:09 Alex Stahlmann: I'm

00:07:09 luke: you.

00:07:09 Alex Stahlmann: glad

00:07:09 luke: Um,

00:07:09 Alex Stahlmann: you put thought into this.

00:07:11 luke: yeah, no, I mean, I really lost some sleep over this last few days. I mean, it's really important. That being said, um, I want to troll you and say it's Funky Kong because I think grumpy old men are hilarious by nature, but that doesn't meet all of my criteria. Uh, it's going to be Donkey Kong at five.

00:07:27 Alex Stahlmann: DK at five.

00:07:28 luke: TK at five.

00:07:29 Alex Stahlmann: Okay.

00:07:29 luke: Um,

00:07:30 Alex Stahlmann: Okay.

00:07:31 luke: I know you have somehow just so many honorable mentions. Um, But if I had to list one, if we were to say Donkey Kong is not included, that was my Yoshi slot.

00:07:44 Alex Stahlmann: Mmm.

00:07:44 luke: So, shouts out to people, um, Actually, don't give your honorable mentions because that ruins some of the, uh, the mystique as to who you're going to pick. So maybe you got to get to those after, dude.

00:07:54 Alex Stahlmann: Honorable mentions we can either throw in before we do our number one or after we do our number ones.

00:07:59 luke: Ah, all right, all right, all right, before. So I'll leave that there. We can leave all the messinesses. You know how this beautiful sausage is made. Uh, DK,

00:08:08 Alex Stahlmann: DK.

00:08:08 luke: hilarious dude, just wearing a tie, his nuts just hanging out after just wearing a tie, that's hilarious.

00:08:15 Alex Stahlmann: That's

00:08:15 luke: Um.

00:08:15 Alex Stahlmann: pretty good.

00:08:16 luke: In different outfits, he's great. Um, I'm gonna cheat and include that he's just got like a cool, like whole family and vibe. You got Funky Kong, who's definitely selling dope. Um, and just surfboarding on things, that's fucking cool. You're smashing crocodiles and just doing a whole lot of gang shit as Donkey Kong, so he's cool. And I like Donkey Kong games. And

00:08:38 Alex Stahlmann: Right on.

00:08:38 luke: Donkey Kong was great in the movie. Seth Rogen, excellent Donkey Kong. I mean... What else can I say? The OG villain turned hero turned hero of his own thing and hasn't been a villain really in forever, so. Uh, excellent in Smash Bros, just whomping dudes in the face. Always

00:08:55 Alex Stahlmann: I do

00:08:55 luke: been

00:08:55 Alex Stahlmann: like

00:08:55 luke: a good

00:08:55 Alex Stahlmann: a heavy.

00:08:55 luke: one. Um, not much for Mario Kart, but I like also, my

00:09:00 Alex Stahlmann: You're

00:09:00 luke: last

00:09:00 Alex Stahlmann: all

00:09:01 luke: thing

00:09:01 Alex Stahlmann: right, Mario

00:09:01 luke: is that

00:09:01 Alex Stahlmann: Kart.

00:09:01 luke: Yeah, I don't usually play as heavies. Um, but in Mario Golf, I like that he just swings with one hand. That's hilarious. So, uh, first selection, Donkey Kong. What

00:09:12 Alex Stahlmann: That's

00:09:12 luke: do you got for number

00:09:12 Alex Stahlmann: a solid

00:09:12 luke: five, sir?

00:09:13 Alex Stahlmann: one, dude.

00:09:13 luke: Yeah.

00:09:13 Alex Stahlmann: I'm surprised you had him so low. I think Donkey Kong is a great pick. Good job.

00:09:17 luke: Yeah, thank you. Thank you.

00:09:19 Alex Stahlmann: Uh,

00:09:19 luke: This

00:09:19 Alex Stahlmann: mine.

00:09:19 luke: is really important stuff, dude, so.

00:09:21 Alex Stahlmann: It is. Uh, and you said that you weren't gonna troll me. I'm gonna semi-troll you and tell you my number five is Luigi.

00:09:29 luke: What a dick.

00:09:31 Alex Stahlmann: And

00:09:32 luke: What a

00:09:32 Alex Stahlmann: Luigi's, Luigi's

00:09:33 luke: dick.

00:09:33 Alex Stahlmann: great, dude, but like, you know, he's number five. That's good, man. Out of all, there's like 300 Mario characters.

00:09:39 luke: Yeah,

00:09:39 Alex Stahlmann: So.

00:09:39 luke: but there's like four main ones, you piece of shit. This is just like

00:09:42 Alex Stahlmann: Yeah,

00:09:43 luke: classic

00:09:43 Alex Stahlmann: and he's number

00:09:43 luke: older

00:09:43 Alex Stahlmann: five.

00:09:43 luke: brother

00:09:44 Alex Stahlmann: He's not

00:09:44 luke: being

00:09:44 Alex Stahlmann: even in the

00:09:44 luke: a

00:09:44 Alex Stahlmann: four.

00:09:44 luke: dick, just

00:09:45 Alex Stahlmann: Nah.

00:09:45 luke: overshadowed by his handsome younger brother, and you're the portly short one, even though that doesn't make sense because you're taller than me, but in spirit, you're my portly short one. Older brother, but fine. They're twins, by the way.

00:09:57 Alex Stahlmann: Poorly short. Dude, I'm 6'6". Hey,

00:10:00 luke: You're like 6'4 for like thirty years of your life, and then all of a sudden you're like, you know, I should add another inch to be extra cool, so...

00:10:07 Alex Stahlmann: man, keep growing. It's whatever.

00:10:09 luke: Not where it matters. Continue.

00:10:11 Alex Stahlmann: Oh,

00:10:11 luke: Yeah.

00:10:12 Alex Stahlmann: oh.

00:10:12 luke: Bazing. I'm sorry. I'm just a little, a little offended about Luigi.

00:10:16 Alex Stahlmann: Luigi's my five dude. That's pretty good. Pretty good. Like I said, the 300 bar characters, he's up there number five, but here's the deal. I have like Luigi, you've claimed Luigi and I'm a, I'm a good big brother. So I've, I've given you Luigi,

00:10:30 luke: And

00:10:30 Alex Stahlmann: uh, over

00:10:30 luke: a shitty

00:10:30 Alex Stahlmann: the

00:10:31 luke: older

00:10:31 Alex Stahlmann: years.

00:10:31 luke: brother who's never been second person, second place, second controller. So, like, you've never played as Luigi. You've

00:10:37 Alex Stahlmann: Well,

00:10:37 luke: always forced

00:10:38 Alex Stahlmann: here's

00:10:38 luke: it

00:10:38 Alex Stahlmann: the

00:10:38 luke: upon

00:10:38 Alex Stahlmann: deal

00:10:38 luke: others.

00:10:38 Alex Stahlmann: though, dude, Luigi, I used to have so much, I still have Luigi love, but like Luigi

00:10:42 luke: Yeah. Yeah.

00:10:42 Alex Stahlmann: was my guy because we didn't get, you were, I mean, I'm, I'm older than you are obviously, but

00:10:47 luke: Immensely.

00:10:48 Alex Stahlmann: uh, we, so like you were, how old would you say? Let's see, when we got the sixty-four is probably the first system that like makes sense. So that would have been, how old were you when we got the 64? If I was like probably 12-ish.

00:11:05 luke: That'd make me six. Mm-hmm.

00:11:06 Alex Stahlmann: Six, so, so dude, like, so yeah, your whole life you've been playing Luigi, but here's the deal,

00:11:11 luke: Mm-hmm.

00:11:11 Alex Stahlmann: like, when I, from my six all the way to twelve for six years, my very foundational, like, go over to homies' houses, play their games, I was always Luigi, because

00:11:19 luke: Yeah.

00:11:20 Alex Stahlmann: that's just how it goes.

00:11:20 luke: Just

00:11:21 Alex Stahlmann: So

00:11:21 luke: developed

00:11:21 Alex Stahlmann: Luigi,

00:11:21 luke: main player energy since then.

00:11:23 Alex Stahlmann: dude,

00:11:23 luke: Continue.

00:11:23 Alex Stahlmann: big, big, well, yeah, of course, the big bro.

00:11:28 luke: Okay.

00:11:29 Alex Stahlmann: And I got, I do got the years on you. Obviously the gaming landscape has leveled off. Maybe you've, maybe you've surpassed my abilities except for in 2k, which we may talk about later.

00:11:39 luke: Beat me like once.

00:11:40 Alex Stahlmann: But

00:11:41 luke: thirty

00:11:41 Alex Stahlmann: yeah,

00:11:41 luke: year

00:11:41 Alex Stahlmann: dude,

00:11:41 luke: span.

00:11:41 Alex Stahlmann: so like, I mean, I, I mean, like, Luigi got a special spot in my heart, dude, because it took a long time to, uh, to crack the video games into the household, so like, Luigi was my guy. Like, if I was, if I was picking, like, the, the, You know, whoever's household we were at, they'd always go with Mario, so I'd go Luigi. Luigi's got some cool energy, man. He's basically a Mario clone in the early games, but green. Green, cool-ass color. Green was my favorite color for

00:12:03 luke: Tall

00:12:03 Alex Stahlmann: a long time.

00:12:03 luke: jump. Wiggly

00:12:05 Alex Stahlmann: Dude,

00:12:05 luke: legs. That's

00:12:06 Alex Stahlmann: Mario

00:12:06 luke: funny. Come

00:12:06 Alex Stahlmann: two Super

00:12:07 luke: on.

00:12:07 Alex Stahlmann: Mario two for

00:12:08 luke: Yeah.

00:12:09 Alex Stahlmann: the Nintendo. Dude, Luigi does that fucking like floaty jump

00:12:13 luke: Mm-hmm.

00:12:13 Alex Stahlmann: thing. It's

00:12:13 luke: Mm-hmm. Everybody

00:12:14 Alex Stahlmann: dope.

00:12:14 luke: knows you can jump higher if you continue to kick your legs.

00:12:16 Alex Stahlmann: I guess it's, yeah, dude,

00:12:17 luke: These

00:12:17 Alex Stahlmann: I guess that's

00:12:18 luke: are

00:12:18 Alex Stahlmann: in

00:12:18 luke: physics,

00:12:18 Alex Stahlmann: Smash as

00:12:18 luke: dude.

00:12:18 Alex Stahlmann: well for

00:12:19 luke: Yeah.

00:12:19 Alex Stahlmann: the folks that like aren't out here playing this.

00:12:22 luke: Yeah.

00:12:22 Alex Stahlmann: But yeah, dude, Luigi's a solid one. I will say that, like, the reason that he bumped down to five, he kind of, like, I don't know, man. Like, Luigi got cool Luigi energy, but like, his game's proper. Like, why is he such a wimp?

00:12:34 luke: You're out of control.

00:12:36 Alex Stahlmann: Dude, like, Louisa Manchin and stuff, why is he so scared? Why is he being such a little, why is he being such a little scaredy

00:12:41 luke: He's

00:12:41 Alex Stahlmann: pants?

00:12:41 luke: the hero, dude.

00:12:42 Alex Stahlmann: I know he's the hero, but he's a little scaredy pants, like, accidental hero.

00:12:46 luke: Not accidental, he perseveres.

00:12:48 Alex Stahlmann: Heh

00:12:48 luke: Okay.

00:12:49 Alex Stahlmann: heh heh.

00:12:49 luke: Okay. It's your opinion. You're allowed.

00:12:52 Alex Stahlmann: Number

00:12:52 luke: Guess it wouldn't be

00:12:52 Alex Stahlmann: five,

00:12:52 luke: any fun

00:12:53 Alex Stahlmann: Luigi.

00:12:53 luke: if we agreed. Yeah. Okay. Um,

00:12:56 Alex Stahlmann: What

00:12:56 luke: my number

00:12:56 Alex Stahlmann: do you got?

00:12:56 luke: four,

00:12:56 Alex Stahlmann: Number four.

00:12:57 luke: Peach. Um, cause I'm

00:12:59 Alex Stahlmann: Okay.

00:12:59 luke: a feminist. Um,

00:13:01 Alex Stahlmann: Right

00:13:01 luke: you

00:13:01 Alex Stahlmann: on.

00:13:01 luke: know, probably could have had her below Donkey Kong. They're pretty similar. You get the pink in there, dude. You get the floaty dress deal where,

00:13:08 Alex Stahlmann: Yeah.

00:13:09 luke: um, Kind of helps you, uh, when you're not feeling, grinding real hard in the various games she's in. Uh, Super Smash Bros, she's actually, like, nasty. Like, real good. Uh, she's got

00:13:19 Alex Stahlmann: It's

00:13:19 luke: her

00:13:19 Alex Stahlmann: good

00:13:19 luke: own

00:13:19 Alex Stahlmann: in

00:13:19 luke: game

00:13:19 Alex Stahlmann: cart

00:13:19 luke: now.

00:13:19 Alex Stahlmann: too.

00:13:20 luke: Haven't played it. What's up?

00:13:21 Alex Stahlmann: It's good in cart too.

00:13:23 luke: Yeah, and Mario Golf, she's always like super accurate. I forgot Mario Tennis, she's actually pretty nasty in Mario Tennis, I'm a big fan of her in Mario Tennis.

00:13:29 Alex Stahlmann: Yeah, dude, Peach brings good, uh, she's good shit.

00:13:33 luke: Cuteness, like, for sure. Like, little, you know, princess vibe. The wife always plays with her when we play games like Mario Party. So, pretty solid there. Uh,

00:13:41 Alex Stahlmann: Mm-hmm.

00:13:42 luke: funniness, all of the personality came from the movie, to be frank. Um, and then there's some sassy quips here and there in the different games. Um, but definitely they made her, uh, Anna Joy Taylor, is it?

00:13:53 Alex Stahlmann: I believe so.

00:13:54 luke: Um, they made her a pretty big badass.

00:13:55 Alex Stahlmann: Uh,

00:13:56 luke: The

00:13:56 Alex Stahlmann: yeah,

00:13:56 luke: movie

00:13:56 Alex Stahlmann: maybe.

00:13:56 luke: definitely, uh, boosted the coolness. Um, can't once again say for the own game, but in the extended Mario universe of games, she's usually a threat to deal with, so fuck with it.

00:14:08 Alex Stahlmann: I can dig it, dude.

00:14:09 luke: Yeah.

00:14:10 Alex Stahlmann: I will say that, I mean, her character arc, I feel like it's gotten better over time. I feel like the Princess in Distress, like,

00:14:17 luke: Uh huh.

00:14:17 Alex Stahlmann: You know, that they've, they finally, finally slowly made their way past that a bit. It still happens. It's still a trope, but,

00:14:23 luke: Hmm. Yeah,

00:14:24 Alex Stahlmann: um,

00:14:24 luke: but

00:14:24 Alex Stahlmann: she kind of holds her own

00:14:25 luke: at least

00:14:25 Alex Stahlmann: and,

00:14:25 luke: they make fun of the trope as they do it.

00:14:27 Alex Stahlmann: and I may talk a little bit more about that, about that later. We'll see.

00:14:31 luke: When

00:14:31 Alex Stahlmann: But that's a solid

00:14:32 luke: Bowser's

00:14:32 Alex Stahlmann: pick, dude.

00:14:32 luke: your number one, yeah, continue.

00:14:35 Alex Stahlmann: Um, let me see. So that's, you got, you got Peach at four. My number four is my man Wario.

00:14:43 luke: Nice. I

00:14:44 Alex Stahlmann: Mm-hmm. Wario's

00:14:45 luke: feel

00:14:46 Alex Stahlmann: a

00:14:46 luke: like

00:14:46 Alex Stahlmann: great

00:14:46 luke: I

00:14:46 Alex Stahlmann: character.

00:14:46 luke: slighted

00:14:46 Alex Stahlmann: Great

00:14:47 luke: Mario,

00:14:47 Alex Stahlmann: enemy.

00:14:47 luke: Wario. Feel kind of bad. You like his weird games, I bet, huh?

00:14:51 Alex Stahlmann: I sure do, dude.

00:14:52 luke: No.

00:14:52 Alex Stahlmann: So that's a,

00:14:52 luke: No.

00:14:52 Alex Stahlmann: that's a true reason why he cracked his list. Uh, shouts out to Waluigi, but Waluigi just doesn't have his own game, man. He's just in there to be Wario's, like, doubles partner. You

00:15:06 luke: Yeah.

00:15:06 Alex Stahlmann: know, uh,

00:15:07 luke: Yeah.

00:15:08 Alex Stahlmann: bless the internet. I know the internet and I, I like Waluigi too, but like when it comes down to it, I just couldn't make him crack the list. He doesn't got enough going on. And Wario does, dude. Wario's like, he's a good bad guy. He's got his own games, so you could see, like, what would that even, what is that? Are you an antagonist? He's like the protagonist of the Wario games

00:15:25 luke: Mm-hmm.

00:15:25 Alex Stahlmann: because you're playing as him,

00:15:26 luke: Mm-hmm.

00:15:26 Alex Stahlmann: but he's like, he's the hero, I guess, at the same time. But, uh, but yeah, dude, he's out there trying to collect his coin. Respect. Trying to take over castles. Respect.

00:15:36 luke: Kind of sweet evil

00:15:37 Alex Stahlmann: Uh,

00:15:37 luke: guy mustache. Gotta

00:15:38 Alex Stahlmann: Dude,

00:15:39 luke: respect

00:15:39 Alex Stahlmann: he does

00:15:39 luke: that.

00:15:39 Alex Stahlmann: the charge

00:15:39 luke: Mm-hmm.

00:15:40 Alex Stahlmann: thing. He's got like, he got the power up where he gets the horns. Like,

00:15:43 luke: Lots

00:15:43 Alex Stahlmann: dude, a lot of

00:15:44 luke: of

00:15:44 Alex Stahlmann: cool

00:15:44 luke: fart

00:15:44 Alex Stahlmann: shit

00:15:44 luke: jokes

00:15:44 Alex Stahlmann: going on.

00:15:45 luke: on a motorcycle.

00:15:46 Alex Stahlmann: Dude, for real. I will say, you ever play any of the Wario, WarioWare games?

00:15:49 luke: No, I never had like a DS or a 3DS or.

00:15:53 Alex Stahlmann: They got them on the Switch now, two of them.

00:15:56 luke: Yeah, I

00:15:57 Alex Stahlmann: But

00:15:57 luke: just

00:15:57 Alex Stahlmann: that's

00:15:57 luke: wasn't buying $60 minigame games

00:15:59 Alex Stahlmann: okay.

00:16:00 luke: too

00:16:00 Alex Stahlmann: 100%, dude.

00:16:00 luke: many times.

00:16:01 Alex Stahlmann: People love them. People love

00:16:02 luke: Yes.

00:16:02 Alex Stahlmann: them. Like for the Game Boy Advance,

00:16:03 luke: I'd

00:16:04 Alex Stahlmann: the DS,

00:16:04 luke: mess around

00:16:04 Alex Stahlmann: all that kind

00:16:05 luke: with

00:16:05 Alex Stahlmann: of

00:16:05 luke: them

00:16:05 Alex Stahlmann: stuff.

00:16:05 luke: if I had it, but I just

00:16:06 Alex Stahlmann: I

00:16:06 luke: don't

00:16:06 Alex Stahlmann: did

00:16:06 luke: have it.

00:16:07 Alex Stahlmann: scoop the Switch, one of the Switch ones for cheap on a sale or whatever. But that's just the thing is like, people do love it, like the WarioWare stuff so much and like, you know, respect. I think they're okay. Like, I've never like burned a whole bunch of time and It is kind of like Mario Party. Like, I feel like it's the, I don't know, man. This is like, at least in my household, he doesn't have the right vibe to be like, hey, let's play WarioWare. Like, if we're gonna play, if I'm gonna play a game with the wifey, it's like, we'll probably play Mario Party or Or Kart or something like that. Why are you aware for whatever reason not as intriguing? It's kinda like the mini games of Mario Party on crack.

00:16:51 luke: They're just like little minute long, yeah, like crazy little deals. It's almost like. It's a genre of its own, really.

00:16:58 Alex Stahlmann: Indeed.

00:16:58 luke: Yeah.

00:16:59 Alex Stahlmann: But I respect it, dude. I respect

00:17:00 luke: Yeah.

00:17:00 Alex Stahlmann: Mario and he's my number four. I said it earlier when you mentioned him, dude. He's got, uh, or wait, was it? Yeah. You mentioned Mario about the, his, we were talking about his, his golf outfit. Pretty solid.

00:17:10 luke: Yeah, I mean, he's a fat, goofy dude with a super evil, awesome mustache who farts and rides a bitchin' motorcycle. I mean, it's kinda hard to beat that overall

00:17:18 Alex Stahlmann: Dude,

00:17:19 luke: aesthetic.

00:17:19 Alex Stahlmann: I forgot about the motorcycle.

00:17:20 luke: Yeah.

00:17:20 Alex Stahlmann: Motorcycle dope too.

00:17:21 luke: Yeah, he's kind of, his games come through in his Smash Bros persona, too. So,

00:17:27 Alex Stahlmann: Mm-hmm.

00:17:27 luke: like, his gameplay is, like, kind of chaotic, if you ask me, in, like, a cool

00:17:31 Alex Stahlmann: He's

00:17:32 luke: way.

00:17:32 Alex Stahlmann: another heavy. Dude, I love playing

00:17:33 luke: Mm-hmm.

00:17:33 Alex Stahlmann: with heavies. I'll,

00:17:34 luke: Mm-hmm.

00:17:34 Alex Stahlmann: I'll mess with, I mean, almost all the time. Smash, I'm gonna play with a heavy. Wario's one of my guys. Uh, I like DK, I like Bowser, those are all good Smash players for me.

00:17:43 luke: Plus

00:17:43 Alex Stahlmann: And,

00:17:43 luke: just like a good wah,

00:17:45 Alex Stahlmann: yeah.

00:17:45 luke: like who doesn't like a good wah, so.

00:17:47 Alex Stahlmann: Nah, for sure. And uh, I don't think, I don't know if we've ever had like a proper, like he's supposed to be, aside from Smash and then obviously like your tennis and all the sports stuff, like he's clearly like The yin and the yang to Mario. Like, I mean, it's an

00:18:02 luke: Like

00:18:02 Alex Stahlmann: upside

00:18:02 luke: bizarro

00:18:03 Alex Stahlmann: down

00:18:03 luke: Mario.

00:18:03 Alex Stahlmann: M, the W, the Bizarro Mario

00:18:05 luke: Yeah.

00:18:05 Alex Stahlmann: for sure. Uh, but like, I feel like it's low-hanging fruit. Like, have they ever faced off in a platformer in like a true... Like, in a true, like,

00:18:13 luke: Yeah,

00:18:14 Alex Stahlmann: Mario

00:18:14 luke: your six

00:18:14 Alex Stahlmann: vs.

00:18:15 luke: coins,

00:18:15 Alex Stahlmann: Wario?

00:18:15 luke: Dean?

00:18:17 Alex Stahlmann: Oh yeah, six coins, that's right. But he's...

00:18:19 luke: He's like the main antagonist. Like, you fuck

00:18:21 Alex Stahlmann: Yeah,

00:18:21 luke: up his castle and

00:18:22 Alex Stahlmann: you're

00:18:22 luke: you go fight

00:18:23 Alex Stahlmann: right,

00:18:23 luke: him,

00:18:23 Alex Stahlmann: dude.

00:18:23 luke: don't you?

00:18:23 Alex Stahlmann: I

00:18:24 luke: So,

00:18:24 Alex Stahlmann: love that

00:18:24 luke: yeah.

00:18:24 Alex Stahlmann: game.

00:18:24 luke: Yeah,

00:18:24 Alex Stahlmann: And he's tough.

00:18:25 luke: it's like your game, dude. The fuck? There

00:18:28 Alex Stahlmann: He's tough. That's probably another reason why he's up on number four, bro. All

00:18:31 luke: we go. Yeah, hell yeah.

00:18:32 Alex Stahlmann: right. What do you got for three?

00:18:34 luke: King Bowser, dude. Um...

00:18:37 Alex Stahlmann: Bowser. Nice.

00:18:38 luke: Pretty easy argument to make him tops. They have made him super cool over the year. Casting Jack Black as him was like an instant like, oh, that's super fun. Peaches, peaches, peaches, peaches, peaches. Tons of fun. I was Bowser for Halloween this year. That was tight, dude. Totally matters. Forgot that blind ranking item, but that matters, dude. Um, I also love that he is a father to a little shithead kid.

00:19:07 Alex Stahlmann: Kep, multiple kids apparently.

00:19:09 luke: Oh, really? I thought Bowser Jr. was just his kid, but everybody's

00:19:13 Alex Stahlmann: What's

00:19:13 luke: just

00:19:13 Alex Stahlmann: all

00:19:13 luke: like.

00:19:14 Alex Stahlmann: the other Koopa deals like? All the little Kooplings or

00:19:17 luke: Might

00:19:17 Alex Stahlmann: whatever they're called?

00:19:18 luke: have

00:19:18 Alex Stahlmann: I

00:19:18 luke: to look into that, but Bowser Jr.,

00:19:19 Alex Stahlmann: think

00:19:19 luke: uh.

00:19:20 Alex Stahlmann: Bowser's spreading his seed, bro. I think he's out there.

00:19:23 luke: Hell yeah.

00:19:25 Alex Stahlmann: Anthony Edwards up in this

00:19:26 luke: Oh,

00:19:26 Alex Stahlmann: bitch.

00:19:27 luke: Jesus. But yes, my favorite is in the newest Paper Mario game. There was just like some jokes. about bowser being like about being a dad and shit and it just geeked me the fuck out and it was just really funny like making fun of his kid with like I don't know. He's just making fun of Bowser Jr. in some pretty hilarious ways. So, uh, he's got a cool look to him. Uh, it's a different type of cute. Uh, my children say Bousy instead

00:19:56 Alex Stahlmann: Nice.

00:19:56 luke: of Bowser and that's fucking adorable. Uh, shooting fireballs, dude. Formidable enemy. Uh, always been really cool boss fights with Bowser. So long, gay Bowser. Um, iconic. Um, gay Bowser is a king, obviously, so. Did I miss anything about Bowser other than just being like a super cool design, hilarious? Um, I guess he hasn't had his own game, but you have been able to play as him like in Mario RPGs, is that correct?

00:20:27 Alex Stahlmann: I think so,

00:20:27 luke: Has

00:20:27 Alex Stahlmann: yeah.

00:20:28 luke: he ever been a playable character?

00:20:29 Alex Stahlmann: I've

00:20:29 luke: So that's pretty

00:20:30 Alex Stahlmann: never played

00:20:30 luke: cool.

00:20:30 Alex Stahlmann: all the way through a Mario RPG.

00:20:31 luke: Yeah. Um, and like in Paper Mario, he's freaking hilarious. So like, just love. They've just really like put a lot of Put a lot of growth into, like, comedic. Like, he's not much of, like, a big scary enemy for the most part in games. He's mostly just, like, this big bumbling goof and I love all that. So,

00:20:51 Alex Stahlmann: I'm

00:20:51 luke: hell

00:20:51 Alex Stahlmann: here

00:20:51 luke: yeah.

00:20:51 Alex Stahlmann: for Bowser. You know I love Bowser.

00:20:53 luke: Yeah, Pousey.

00:20:55 Alex Stahlmann: Uh, I like it. I like it, dude. So that was number three. You got DK, Peach, Bowser. I've got Luigi, Wario, my number three. D.K.

00:21:05 luke: Hmm.

00:21:05 Alex Stahlmann: Donkey Kong.

00:21:07 luke: How did I not mention the rap when giving him his proper time? I guess we had to leave some meat on the bone, but that rap's

00:21:13 Alex Stahlmann: Yes,

00:21:13 luke: iconic,

00:21:14 Alex Stahlmann: sir.

00:21:14 luke: dude.

00:21:14 Alex Stahlmann: Dude, for sure. I mean, DK, I thought about it, I was like, maybe I do Funky Karn because he's cool, right? Like,

00:21:19 luke: Let's

00:21:19 Alex Stahlmann: this airport

00:21:20 luke: just,

00:21:20 Alex Stahlmann: guy probably

00:21:20 luke: yeah.

00:21:21 Alex Stahlmann: does drugs, like, whatever.

00:21:22 luke: Definitely is selling them, dude, in that shack. Are you

00:21:24 Alex Stahlmann: For

00:21:24 luke: fucking kidding

00:21:25 Alex Stahlmann: sure.

00:21:25 luke: me, dude?

00:21:25 Alex Stahlmann: But then I was like, but then I was like, I don't know though. Like he kind of just lives in that space

00:21:29 luke: Some

00:21:29 Alex Stahlmann: and like,

00:21:29 luke: fermented

00:21:29 Alex Stahlmann: do you,

00:21:30 luke: banana at least, man.

00:21:32 Alex Stahlmann: For sure, dude. Uh, but DK, like, I like, if you look at it, dude, I love his story arc. I love that he, like, he's out here pulling a bowser, stealing peach, uh, Like, throwing a bunch of barrels and fireballs and shit at Mario while he tries to go save Peach.

00:21:45 luke: Yeah.

00:21:45 Alex Stahlmann: Like, that was the original game, right? So Donkey Kong, you got Mario going to save Peach from DK. He's a baddie. And then, over time, Like, they introduce them into the Mario world via Donkey Kong Country or whatever.

00:21:58 luke: Gets to shoot peanut guns.

00:22:01 Alex Stahlmann: Totally, yeah,

00:22:02 luke: That's

00:22:02 Alex Stahlmann: for sure.

00:22:02 luke: funny. Rail

00:22:03 Alex Stahlmann: Dude,

00:22:03 luke: cart

00:22:04 Alex Stahlmann: rides

00:22:04 luke: levels,

00:22:04 Alex Stahlmann: with

00:22:04 luke: dude.

00:22:04 Alex Stahlmann: rhinoceros and shit. Like, dude,

00:22:05 luke: Yeah.

00:22:06 Alex Stahlmann: look, dude's tight. He's

00:22:07 luke: One

00:22:07 Alex Stahlmann: got a little

00:22:07 luke: of the...

00:22:07 Alex Stahlmann: homie. Like, Diddy didn't make my list. Spoiler for my honorable mentions.

00:22:12 luke: Yeah.

00:22:12 Alex Stahlmann: But like, Diddy's cool too. And I think like as a, as a kid, like I definitely loved Diddy more, but it's that, it's that evolution that I was leaning on earlier

00:22:22 luke: Did

00:22:22 Alex Stahlmann: or starting

00:22:23 luke: you

00:22:23 Alex Stahlmann: to

00:22:23 luke: play

00:22:23 Alex Stahlmann: speak to

00:22:23 luke: Diddy

00:22:23 Alex Stahlmann: earlier.

00:22:23 luke: Kong Racing? Maybe that would have affected it. Isn't that supposed to be really good?

00:22:27 Alex Stahlmann: People love Diddy Kong Racing. I've always just been kind of a kart guy, uh, cause I didn't, I've never owned Diddy Kong Racing and

00:22:33 luke: Yeah.

00:22:33 Alex Stahlmann: like, uh, neither did my homies. We all just played Mario Kart. People that had Diddy Kong Racing stand by it and love it so much, but uh, But yeah, no, like, Diddy was like, it was just a two-player thing, man. So like, again, when I was playing Donkey Kong, you had homies' houses, you pick up the second controller, you can control Diddy, I think. Um, and so that was one of the reasons why I was like, did he be cool? But like, I started to think about it and over time, like more, just DK for me, dude. He's got like that, that from a bad guy to a good guy. Uh, I'm, I'm here for the Seth Rogen interpretation of, of DK. Like, uh, I'm, you know, even the whole, like, um, little refresh of the visual look too. Uh,

00:23:10 luke: Yeah.

00:23:11 Alex Stahlmann: I like it. I like it. I like his character. I think it's fun. Uh,

00:23:14 luke: Iconic soundtrack.

00:23:14 Alex Stahlmann: dude. I got a soundtrack and I tell you what, dude, if you're playing I'll fuck with DK in Kart, I'll fuck with DK in any of the sports games. Uh, Smash for sure. He's uh, like a semi-main of mine. Pretty much all the heavies I mess with. Uh, except for, uh, what's, what's DK's main bad guy? The big, uh, crocodile dude?

00:23:36 luke: King K. Rool.

00:23:37 Alex Stahlmann: Yeah,

00:23:37 luke: I love King K.

00:23:37 Alex Stahlmann: K.

00:23:37 luke: Rool.

00:23:37 Alex Stahlmann: Rool. He's cool, but like, I, I'm not really great at his moveset, but uh, but he

00:23:42 luke: He

00:23:42 Alex Stahlmann: is fun

00:23:42 luke: wasn't

00:23:42 Alex Stahlmann: too,

00:23:42 luke: my

00:23:42 Alex Stahlmann: as

00:23:43 luke: main

00:23:43 Alex Stahlmann: far

00:23:43 luke: in

00:23:43 Alex Stahlmann: as

00:23:43 luke: the

00:23:43 Alex Stahlmann: heavies.

00:23:43 luke: newest game.

00:23:44 Alex Stahlmann: Nice,

00:23:45 luke: That's

00:23:45 Alex Stahlmann: nice.

00:23:45 luke: hilarious, yeah.

00:23:46 Alex Stahlmann: Yeah, but DK, man, and DK also, like, how many ridiculous cool peripherals they made for him via the, like, GameCube

00:23:54 luke: The

00:23:55 Alex Stahlmann: Wii

00:23:55 luke: bongo

00:23:55 Alex Stahlmann: era.

00:23:55 luke: drums. I

00:23:56 Alex Stahlmann: Dude, he's got bongo drums. That's

00:23:58 luke: guess

00:23:58 Alex Stahlmann: dope.

00:23:58 luke: at the end of the day, though, um, he's just a monkey.

00:24:02 Alex Stahlmann: I'm all right with that. Monkeys, no.

00:24:04 luke: Yeah, but like, we

00:24:05 Alex Stahlmann: How

00:24:06 luke: got

00:24:06 Alex Stahlmann: many

00:24:06 luke: like

00:24:06 Alex Stahlmann: podcasters to take on 1DK? 100 podcasters, 1DK?

00:24:11 luke: Definitely gonna take more. Uh, with the barrels he's throwing, dude, just

00:24:15 Alex Stahlmann: Mm-hmm.

00:24:15 luke: think of how many he could snipe out before he even got close. So, probably at least 200. Um, yeah, he's just a monkey in a world full of dinosaurs and walking mushrooms, so.

00:24:26 Alex Stahlmann: True.

00:24:26 luke: Gotta, gotta peg them down a few, dude.

00:24:29 Alex Stahlmann: I like how he's like, kind of like a, like a rebellious little angsty badass in, in the movie as well.

00:24:36 luke: Kind of a whiny hoe at the same time.

00:24:38 Alex Stahlmann: Yeah, kind of just works for me.

00:24:40 luke: Yeah, I like his little arc when there's some clear romantic tension between Mario and Peach and he's just a tool about it. Love that.

00:24:48 Alex Stahlmann: Yeah,

00:24:49 luke: Great,

00:24:49 Alex Stahlmann: yeah.

00:24:49 luke: great timing.

00:24:50 Alex Stahlmann: So that's my number three, man.

00:24:52 luke: Alright, here's the spiciest one of I think both of our lists. Dude, my number two. You wanna guess it?

00:24:59 Alex Stahlmann: Uh, let's see. You got DK Peach, Bowser, Toad.

00:25:04 luke: Dick. Captain Toad. Fucking love Captain Toad, Treasure Tracker. I have such a weird, irrational love for that fucking game. Uh,

00:25:13 Alex Stahlmann: Nice,

00:25:13 luke: Captain

00:25:14 Alex Stahlmann: nice.

00:25:14 luke: Toad, all the variations of Toads, uh, they hit the cuteness for sure. That hit the funniness way harder than you'd think. Hilarious little quips out of Toad's going back forever. Uh, Captain Toad, what an adorable little outfit. What the fuck? That's awesome. Just

00:25:29 Alex Stahlmann: The, like,

00:25:30 luke: an adventurous

00:25:30 Alex Stahlmann: uh,

00:25:31 luke: little

00:25:31 Alex Stahlmann: Indiana

00:25:31 luke: cheeky bastard.

00:25:31 Alex Stahlmann: Jones thing going

00:25:32 luke: Yeah,

00:25:32 Alex Stahlmann: on?

00:25:32 luke: dude, whatever it is, it's just tight. Um,

00:25:34 Alex Stahlmann: Mm-hmm.

00:25:35 luke: I love that game. I adore that game. I love, I'm going to blank on it because I'm on a mic, but if this is a 3D land or one of the games is where they introduce that the little toad sections are not like a shitty little break from the action. They're like a tight little treat.

00:25:49 Alex Stahlmann: Yep.

00:25:49 luke: So, uh, super underrated. I guess you have to say that you don't get to play as Toad in a lot of games, and when they do, it's just base Toad or Toadette, and they're not... The most exciting, but they're usually fast, so it's kind of a fun, light gameplay, so that's tight. Um, massively underrated Toad Treasure Tracker. What a, just a delightful little game. Probably the game I've spent the least amount of time in that I've thought the most about. That's

00:26:15 Alex Stahlmann: Nice.

00:26:15 luke: a weird distinction.

00:26:17 Alex Stahlmann: It's a cool game for sure. And Toad is a great character, Captain Toad specifically. Great

00:26:21 luke: Yeah.

00:26:22 Alex Stahlmann: little character.

00:26:22 luke: Yeah.

00:26:23 Alex Stahlmann: So would you consider Captain Toad to be the one on the cart in Mario Kart or this Toad or are you going to kind of call them both? I mean, if you go back to my rules, dude, I was, I was saying that like the, the, the outfit sets don't change the character. So like,

00:26:36 luke: Yeah,

00:26:36 Alex Stahlmann: I'm

00:26:36 luke: but

00:26:36 Alex Stahlmann: going

00:26:36 luke: Toad

00:26:36 Alex Stahlmann: to consider

00:26:37 luke: is like

00:26:37 Alex Stahlmann: a

00:26:37 luke: a

00:26:37 Alex Stahlmann: captain.

00:26:37 luke: species

00:26:39 Alex Stahlmann: Yeah,

00:26:39 luke: and sometimes

00:26:39 Alex Stahlmann: but captain. Okay.

00:26:40 luke: Toad is like a main character so Captain Toad is his own thing so you can't really

00:26:46 Alex Stahlmann: But

00:26:46 luke: count him in

00:26:46 Alex Stahlmann: isn't

00:26:46 luke: the games.

00:26:47 Alex Stahlmann: Captain Coat, isn't Captain Coat, isn't Captain Toad just like the Toad though?

00:26:51 luke: It's a toad.

00:26:53 Alex Stahlmann: But isn't, isn't it the Toad, like the coolest one?

00:26:57 luke: The coolest one, yes, but like the toad from like sixty-four probably

00:27:03 Alex Stahlmann: Okay.

00:27:03 luke: not, no. And

00:27:04 Alex Stahlmann: So we're specifically

00:27:05 luke: uh,

00:27:05 Alex Stahlmann: talking about Captain Toad has an appearance in Treasure Trekker.

00:27:09 luke: Captain Toad's game is Treasure Tracker.

00:27:12 Alex Stahlmann: Okay, cool. Yeah,

00:27:13 luke: And then

00:27:13 Alex Stahlmann: yeah, yeah.

00:27:13 luke: he's in, I want to say he's in Odyssey. You run into him and you find him in like weird ass places and he's like, whoa, here's the moon you were looking for. I found it over here. So

00:27:23 Alex Stahlmann: Nice.

00:27:23 luke: like, he is his own, he's not an outfit, he is a character, Captain Toad.

00:27:28 Alex Stahlmann: I

00:27:28 luke: Um, there's

00:27:28 Alex Stahlmann: can dig

00:27:28 luke: also

00:27:29 Alex Stahlmann: it.

00:27:29 luke: Toadette, whatever,

00:27:30 Alex Stahlmann: Yep.

00:27:30 luke: fine. I don't know how the hair works that she gets pigtails of mushrooms, but I guess that's for scientists to tell us.

00:27:37 Alex Stahlmann: Indeed.

00:27:39 luke: You weren't supposed to guess toad. God, I guess I have such an obvious hard on for toad, dude. Damn.

00:27:45 Alex Stahlmann: Ah, so that was your number two. My number two, my boy Yoshi.

00:27:51 luke: Species or the Yoshi.

00:27:54 Alex Stahlmann: A little bit of both, I guess. I mean, the Yoshi is what I'm going with.

00:27:58 luke: Mm-hmm.

00:27:58 Alex Stahlmann: But like, you know, red Yoshi, yellow Yoshi, whatever Yoshi, they're all type. But Yoshi, Yoshai, I don't know. All the Yoshai. Dude.

00:28:04 luke: Not a lot of personality there, so very strong on the cuteness, um.

00:28:09 Alex Stahlmann: A hundred percent. Dude, like the,

00:28:10 luke: The

00:28:11 Alex Stahlmann: uh,

00:28:11 luke: own

00:28:11 Alex Stahlmann: I've,

00:28:11 luke: games, do you like those though?

00:28:13 Alex Stahlmann: yeah. Like,

00:28:14 luke: Okay.

00:28:14 Alex Stahlmann: um,

00:28:16 luke: Wooly,

00:28:16 Alex Stahlmann: uh, what are the,

00:28:16 luke: the

00:28:17 Alex Stahlmann: the,

00:28:17 luke: aesthetic is super cool. The crafted world, the wooly one.

00:28:19 Alex Stahlmann: Yeah, so like, I've

00:28:21 luke: Yoshi's

00:28:21 Alex Stahlmann: got Craftable World,

00:28:21 luke: Island.

00:28:21 Alex Stahlmann: I've played that quite a bit. It's like a pretty, like, it's an easier platformer

00:28:25 luke: Yeah.

00:28:25 Alex Stahlmann: for sure, but it's like, I like that low barrier entry. I love that it's like, I mean, if that is the type of game that, like, I'm super stoked to eventually play with my son when he's a little bit older,

00:28:36 luke: Mm-hmm.

00:28:36 Alex Stahlmann: you know, that kind of deal,

00:28:36 luke: Mm-hmm.

00:28:37 Alex Stahlmann: like, kind of get him into the platform and give him, like, a really good two-player, like, Nintendo got it down on, like, The marijuana of video games, dude. Like, the entry drug.

00:28:46 luke: Sure.

00:28:49 Alex Stahlmann: But Yoshi, dude, but also like, he just like, elevated, so like, I think what really, so, so Yoshi, there's a few reasons, uh, but I think what really elevates Yoshi for me is not his standalone games, like Yoshi Cookie and stuff, it's okay, like for, for, um. Nintendo

00:29:03 luke: Mm-hmm.

00:29:03 Alex Stahlmann: and Game Boy, that kind of stuff. There's some really cool Yoshi games for the Game Boy Advance. I wanna say it's like Super Mario Advance four is like a Yoshi thing or something. But

00:29:12 luke: Yeah.

00:29:12 Alex Stahlmann: that one's solid. And then, but then for Super Mario World,

00:29:18 luke: Mm-hmm.

00:29:19 Alex Stahlmann: when

00:29:19 luke: Mm-hmm.

00:29:19 Alex Stahlmann: you actually get to like, that's like, I feel like even though Yoshi was introduced earlier via some of the things I just mentioned, like Super Mario World, Where you get to, you get the, free the Yoshis, ride the Yoshis, spit, fire, fly, all that stuff. It's such like an awesome, like, power-up companion to Mario.

00:29:37 luke: It's

00:29:37 Alex Stahlmann: Um,

00:29:37 luke: like a mech in a Mario game, but it's Yoshi.

00:29:40 Alex Stahlmann: Totally.

00:29:40 luke: Yeah.

00:29:41 Alex Stahlmann: I can dig it, dude. And Yoshi, like, pretty solid in all those spin-offs and all the sports games. Like, you know, he's a mid, like, middle, like, middleweight and uh, so well-balanced, I would say. I like to play with him in golf. Uh, I'll, I'll use them in cart from time to time for sure.

00:29:57 luke: Mm-hmm.

00:29:57 Alex Stahlmann: Um,

00:29:58 luke: It's

00:29:58 Alex Stahlmann: and

00:29:58 luke: a popular

00:29:59 Alex Stahlmann: I like

00:29:59 luke: pick,

00:29:59 Alex Stahlmann: that

00:29:59 luke: especially

00:29:59 Alex Stahlmann: jump, the

00:30:00 luke: in the

00:30:00 Alex Stahlmann: high

00:30:00 luke: old

00:30:00 Alex Stahlmann: jump,

00:30:00 luke: games.

00:30:00 Alex Stahlmann: dude.

00:30:01 luke: Yeah.

00:30:01 Alex Stahlmann: Just like all the, just like the abilities that it gives to Mario. Like it

00:30:04 luke: Pooping

00:30:04 Alex Stahlmann: just, and

00:30:05 luke: your

00:30:05 Alex Stahlmann: that's

00:30:05 luke: friends

00:30:05 Alex Stahlmann: the cuteness,

00:30:06 luke: off the

00:30:06 Alex Stahlmann: dude.

00:30:06 luke: edge in, um, Smash Bros, where

00:30:09 Alex Stahlmann: Yeah.

00:30:10 luke: you poop them into an egg.

00:30:11 Alex Stahlmann: Yeah,

00:30:11 luke: That's pretty iconic.

00:30:11 Alex Stahlmann: for sure.

00:30:12 luke: Yeah.

00:30:12 Alex Stahlmann: But then there's like the straight up cuteness though, dude. He's a dinosaur, but he's like the cutest little dinosaur. Um. And uh, yeah, it does it for me. I wish I had so many memes, dude. It's like a regret of mine. Not a real regret because like if I really wanted to, I'd just go and buy it. But like, I don't have the, the woolly or like whatever the, the yarn Yoshi. And that thing is, do you have that one?

00:30:38 luke: You know, I did. I don't know if I still do between the dog and moving.

00:30:42 Alex Stahlmann: Yep, yep. That was tight though. I like that one. It's a little bit bigger. It's like fun. I kind of

00:30:45 luke: It

00:30:45 Alex Stahlmann: wish

00:30:46 luke: doesn't

00:30:46 Alex Stahlmann: I had

00:30:46 luke: have

00:30:46 Alex Stahlmann: it.

00:30:46 luke: like the bass either.

00:30:47 Alex Stahlmann: Right.

00:30:47 luke: It's just like, yeah.

00:30:49 Alex Stahlmann: Yep.

00:30:50 luke: Um, Yoshi was my first cutoff. I crossed his name off and put DK and honestly,

00:30:56 Alex Stahlmann: Dude, you were gonna name your children Yoshi.

00:30:59 luke: Yeah, I did want to name when there was just believed to be one child. I was fighting pretty hard to have it named Yoshi. Um, I did not win that argument and I was never gonna. Uh, yeah. At the end of the day, yo, she's just mad cute and fun

00:31:15 Alex Stahlmann: Right.

00:31:15 luke: to play with, but like, no...

00:31:17 Alex Stahlmann: Good sounds, too.

00:31:18 luke: Great.

00:31:18 Alex Stahlmann: Like, kicking out cute, fun sounds.

00:31:19 luke: Great sounds, but like not much of a main character and no personality because it's like a dog. It's like a dinosaur

00:31:26 Alex Stahlmann: That's

00:31:26 luke: dog.

00:31:26 Alex Stahlmann: probably why I like them, though. Dogs are dope.

00:31:29 luke: Love me a dog. Love me a dog. But I think if I had to pick a five, it would have been Wario and not Yoshi still.

00:31:37 Alex Stahlmann: Mm.

00:31:37 luke: Which is crazy because I used to probably main Yoshi in Mario Kart. It was like probably one of my first mains as a child. Like you'd fight for Yoshi as little kids. Um, and I do love the different colors of Yoshi. Lots of fun. Next movie is clearly going to be pretty Yoshi-heavy, so that's exciting.

00:31:54 Alex Stahlmann: But that's

00:31:56 luke: Well...

00:31:57 Alex Stahlmann: my guy. Number two, what do you got for, you want to do, you got any additional, uh, honorable mentions you want to spit out before you do one? Mm-hmm.

00:32:05 luke: Yeah, King Bomb-Om has a really cool mustache that reminds me of Uncle Greg. So, uh,

00:32:11 Alex Stahlmann: Nice.

00:32:12 luke: that just needs to be mentioned. Uh, but that's it. Boo

00:32:15 Alex Stahlmann: Cool.

00:32:15 luke: is fine. Uh, I don't know what the deal, I haven't played the Galaxy games, I guess, so I don't know what the deal with Rosalina is. I definitely don't know what the deal with Pauline is. Um, she's just a lady, just an Italian lady.

00:32:29 Alex Stahlmann: She'd be singing real nice though.

00:32:31 luke: I guess.

00:32:32 Alex Stahlmann: Or is that, is that a different character

00:32:33 luke: No,

00:32:34 Alex Stahlmann: in, uh,

00:32:34 luke: that's,

00:32:34 Alex Stahlmann: okay.

00:32:34 luke: that's definitely Pauline

00:32:35 Alex Stahlmann: Okay.

00:32:36 luke: in Odyssey. And I'm just like, all right, just uh. New York Italian singing lady. All right. In a dress. I had a student in Minecraft club who was, uh, Trying to think of his disability, but he was very obsessed with Pauline and like when you, when he thought you were looking away, he'd Google Pauline and take like little screenshots and like zoom in on her face, but definitely just her titties a bunch. And, uh, it was so funny. I won't say the kid's name. We're just going to say like, it's Steve. It is like, Hey Steve, what you doing over there? And he'd be like, Nothing. Let's

00:33:11 Alex Stahlmann: That's

00:33:11 luke: get

00:33:11 Alex Stahlmann: great.

00:33:11 luke: off those pictures of Pauline, dude. And it was, it was really, really funny, dude. It got a little weird once or twice, but it was mostly cute and hilarious.

00:33:20 Alex Stahlmann: That's amazing.

00:33:21 luke: Uh, yeah. Okay. Yeah. Um, number one though. Oh, you have like your four honorable mentions.

00:33:26 Alex Stahlmann: I'll do them before I, I can, I can kick them. You want me to, I'll just kick them on

00:33:29 luke: Kick

00:33:29 Alex Stahlmann: now.

00:33:30 luke: them

00:33:30 Alex Stahlmann: Uh,

00:33:30 luke: now, dude.

00:33:30 Alex Stahlmann: I don't want much. I have the two categories of honorable mentions, uh, main character energy. Toad, so Captain Toad as well, uh, he was on the, right on the cusp, I was like, you know, a solid character, kind of annoying voice, but whatever, what are you gonna

00:33:42 luke: Yeah,

00:33:43 Alex Stahlmann: do?

00:33:43 luke: it's kind

00:33:43 Alex Stahlmann: Uh, that's

00:33:43 luke: of,

00:33:43 Alex Stahlmann: also

00:33:43 luke: yeah.

00:33:43 Alex Stahlmann: part of his charm.

00:33:44 luke: Mm-hmm, mm-hmm.

00:33:45 Alex Stahlmann: Uh, Diddy Kong, I spoke to Diddy Kong a little bit earlier. That was an honorable mention of mine. Peach, another honorable mention. Uh, I like Peach, dude. Like, I like playing with her in the games and stuff. I'm glad she finally got her own mainline game. I haven't played it, unfortunately. Um, I haven't heard too much about it to be honest. I haven't been tapped into it too heavily. I did hear it's like, okay. Um, but I don't think it's like for the, you know, I'm a grown ass man. I don't think it was made for, for grown ass men, you know,

00:34:08 luke: Heard it was made for theater kids.

00:34:10 Alex Stahlmann: I think that's all right though. That's cool.

00:34:12 luke: Mm-hmm.

00:34:12 Alex Stahlmann: Um,

00:34:12 luke: Didn't mean it was burned. Like, literally seems

00:34:14 Alex Stahlmann: Yeah.

00:34:14 luke: very theater kid heavy. Oh.

00:34:16 Alex Stahlmann: Word, word. Uh, there's things about Peach that, like, I don't know why she, like, two-timing Bowser and Mario, though. Like, that kind of, I'm a little confused at what's going on in that situation.

00:34:25 luke: What

00:34:25 Alex Stahlmann: But

00:34:25 luke: game

00:34:25 Alex Stahlmann: what

00:34:25 luke: would

00:34:25 Alex Stahlmann: are

00:34:25 luke: that

00:34:25 Alex Stahlmann: you gonna

00:34:26 luke: be?

00:34:27 Alex Stahlmann: do? Like, Mario Odyssey? Like...

00:34:29 luke: She's pretty not about being kidnapped. She just, you know, wasn't just gonna be Mario's reward. She's her own woman, you know? So,

00:34:35 Alex Stahlmann: Off

00:34:36 luke: I'm

00:34:36 Alex Stahlmann: the

00:34:36 luke: a

00:34:36 Alex Stahlmann: fair.

00:34:36 luke: feminist. I would

00:34:37 Alex Stahlmann: Give

00:34:37 luke: get it. You wouldn't.

00:34:37 Alex Stahlmann: her some more points then. Um, just, yeah, so Peach. There's a lot of good things about Peach. I think that, like, my knocks against Peach are not against Peach. It's against Nintendo. Ha, ha,

00:34:48 luke: Yeah,

00:34:48 Alex Stahlmann: ha, ha, ha.

00:34:49 luke: I'd just say like New Peach too. And

00:34:51 Alex Stahlmann: New pages

00:34:52 luke: uh,

00:34:52 Alex Stahlmann: tied.

00:34:52 luke: but she's been cool to play with ever since like Mario two So that's worth mentioning.

00:34:56 Alex Stahlmann: Agreed. Agreed

00:34:57 luke: Yeah.

00:34:57 Alex Stahlmann: 100% with the float.

00:34:59 luke: Get

00:34:59 Alex Stahlmann: Uh,

00:34:59 luke: to float.

00:35:00 Alex Stahlmann: and then I got like a, I got a laundry list of baddies that like are all cool, but because they don't have like main character energy and they're just like, you know, I was like, I don't know if I can have these crack the list. Uh, Uh, but I'm gonna start with Bullet Bill. The huge, fucking

00:35:15 luke: Just

00:35:15 Alex Stahlmann: dope-ass

00:35:15 luke: the big bullet.

00:35:16 Alex Stahlmann: dude. Big, big-ass Bullet, man. And it's

00:35:18 luke: Where's

00:35:18 Alex Stahlmann: dope. Like,

00:35:19 luke: Chain Chomp?

00:35:19 Alex Stahlmann: Bullet

00:35:19 luke: You

00:35:19 Alex Stahlmann: Bill.

00:35:20 luke: like dogs, dude. Where's Chain Chomp at, dude?

00:35:22 Alex Stahlmann: Chain Chomp is on my list. Like, Chain Chomp, I got Bullet Bill, Birdo, you know Birdo?

00:35:27 luke: Oh, yeah, I was gonna put Birdo in and do some weird sex jokes, so that's a missed opportunity. That's on me.

00:35:32 Alex Stahlmann: Bullet

00:35:32 luke: What

00:35:32 Alex Stahlmann: Bill, I gotta

00:35:33 luke: that

00:35:33 Alex Stahlmann: put in

00:35:33 luke: hole

00:35:33 Alex Stahlmann: that one

00:35:33 luke: do, though, Birdo.

00:35:34 Alex Stahlmann: Dude, Bullet Bill, Bullet Bill's honorable mention for the fact that it's just a cool baddie.

00:35:40 luke: The

00:35:40 Alex Stahlmann: And

00:35:41 luke: wife

00:35:41 Alex Stahlmann: then

00:35:41 luke: didn't

00:35:41 Alex Stahlmann: two.

00:35:41 luke: like my Birdo joke.

00:35:44 Alex Stahlmann: So he's a cool baddie. Uh, and then he's also like, when you're really getting fucking hosed in, uh, Mario Kart and you get the, you get the bullet bill upgrade

00:35:52 luke: Shoot.

00:35:52 Alex Stahlmann: and you can just shoot back.

00:35:53 luke: Good

00:35:54 Alex Stahlmann: Dude,

00:35:54 luke: point.

00:35:54 Alex Stahlmann: solid. Uh, Birdo. Back to Birdo. Your wife didn't like the Birdo joke.

00:35:58 luke: No.

00:35:59 Alex Stahlmann: I like that. That's funny to me. Um. But Birdo's, dude, Birdo's type for like a few reasons, but like, there was something, I have like in my, in the, playing Super Mario, or not Super, yeah, playing Mario Brothers two or whatever, uh, For the NES, when you get to Birdo, it's not like a difficult character or anything. But it was like, that game is just so weird and different. And it happens pretty quickly where you, where the Birdo's like shooting out the eggs

00:36:22 luke: Mm-hmm.

00:36:22 Alex Stahlmann: and you gotta jump out the eggs,

00:36:23 luke: Mm-hmm.

00:36:23 Alex Stahlmann: shoot it back. There's

00:36:24 luke: It's weird.

00:36:24 Alex Stahlmann: just something about that. It's just like a weird thing. And as a kid, I was like, this is crazy.

00:36:28 luke: They've

00:36:28 Alex Stahlmann: Like, what's

00:36:28 luke: also

00:36:28 Alex Stahlmann: going on with this

00:36:29 luke: added

00:36:29 Alex Stahlmann: game? Right

00:36:29 luke: weird details like Birdo's like genderless and asexual. So like what the fuck's going on there?

00:36:34 Alex Stahlmann: on.

00:36:35 luke: Like Nintendo's like, I don't know, man.

00:36:38 Alex Stahlmann: For

00:36:38 luke: Uh, they

00:36:38 Alex Stahlmann: sure.

00:36:39 luke: shoot their own eggs and they hatch from

00:36:40 Alex Stahlmann: That's

00:36:40 luke: the eggs. Just it's Birdo. Like, Birdo's just like someone was allowed to cook and think of the goofiest thing and that

00:36:46 Alex Stahlmann: it.

00:36:46 luke: Birdo came out.

00:36:47 Alex Stahlmann: Indeed. Boo. Boo's another one on

00:36:49 luke: Mm,

00:36:50 Alex Stahlmann: my honorable

00:36:50 luke: King

00:36:50 Alex Stahlmann: mention

00:36:50 luke: Boo.

00:36:50 Alex Stahlmann: list. Another baddie. Uh, all the boos really, but King Boo be the baddest boo, I guess.

00:36:55 luke: Mm.

00:36:55 Alex Stahlmann: At the crown. Uh, Chain Chomp also on my list. Uh, the big, the big dog Chain Chompa thing

00:37:01 luke: Where

00:37:02 Alex Stahlmann: also

00:37:02 luke: are you

00:37:02 Alex Stahlmann: has

00:37:02 luke: with

00:37:02 Alex Stahlmann: an appearance

00:37:02 luke: racial

00:37:02 Alex Stahlmann: in

00:37:03 luke: slur

00:37:03 Alex Stahlmann: Lynx.

00:37:03 luke: mushrooms though? Come on, dude.

00:37:04 Alex Stahlmann: Dude, Koomba's on my list too. The Koombas are like, I don't know, man. It's an iconic baddie. Like, and Hammer Bros.

00:37:12 luke: Hammer

00:37:12 Alex Stahlmann: I got

00:37:13 luke: Bros.

00:37:13 Alex Stahlmann: Hammer Bros

00:37:13 luke: As

00:37:14 Alex Stahlmann: on the

00:37:14 luke: a kid,

00:37:14 Alex Stahlmann: list.

00:37:14 luke: I fucking hated those. Tough,

00:37:15 Alex Stahlmann: Dude,

00:37:15 luke: yeah.

00:37:16 Alex Stahlmann: tough. They're

00:37:16 luke: Turtle

00:37:16 Alex Stahlmann: a tough baddie

00:37:17 luke: with,

00:37:17 Alex Stahlmann: and they

00:37:17 luke: uh,

00:37:17 Alex Stahlmann: look

00:37:17 luke: musher,

00:37:17 Alex Stahlmann: kind of cool.

00:37:18 luke: or turtle with hammer. Pretty cool

00:37:19 Alex Stahlmann: And

00:37:20 luke: idea.

00:37:20 Alex Stahlmann: then the

00:37:20 luke: And

00:37:20 Alex Stahlmann: last

00:37:20 luke: sport

00:37:20 Alex Stahlmann: one, kind

00:37:20 luke: helmet.

00:37:21 Alex Stahlmann: of vanilla. Last one, kind of vanilla, but just a Koopa.

00:37:23 luke: Okay.

00:37:24 Alex Stahlmann: Again, little turtles, uh, but still, like, Koopas are, I don't know, something cool about a

00:37:28 luke: You

00:37:28 Alex Stahlmann: Koopa.

-redacted-

00:38:54 luke: If you're going to name everybody, we have to address how goofy as shit

00:38:57 Alex Stahlmann: Dude,

00:38:57 luke: that is.

00:38:58 Alex Stahlmann: you say name every baddie, but the thing is, like, that's a full-on list of baddies, but there are like 300 Mario characters, so that's the cream of the crop on the baddies in my opinion.

00:39:10 luke: All

00:39:10 Alex Stahlmann: You got

00:39:10 luke: right.

00:39:10 Alex Stahlmann: other things. You got the skeleton Koopas. You got like

00:39:13 luke: Hmm.

00:39:13 Alex Stahlmann: a whole bunch of other stuff, but they're not on my honorable mention

00:39:14 luke: Sure.

00:39:14 Alex Stahlmann: list. F that.

00:39:15 luke: All right. So now it's time. I got a cape for my boy, uh, as low five Luigi. Um, As the man, the second place, or not second place, but second player, uh, Luigi is king. I am so disrespected by you putting him at number five. I am irate. I swear you just did that to upset me.

00:39:33 Alex Stahlmann: I did it because

00:39:34 luke: Um.

00:39:34 Alex Stahlmann: I knew it'd be funny if I put it at five, but it also made sense. Uh,

00:39:38 luke: Uh.

00:39:39 Alex Stahlmann: and

00:39:40 luke: At

00:39:40 Alex Stahlmann: I

00:39:40 luke: least I

00:39:41 Alex Stahlmann: had

00:39:41 luke: had

00:39:41 Alex Stahlmann: a feeling

00:39:41 luke: respect

00:39:41 Alex Stahlmann: he'd

00:39:41 luke: and

00:39:41 Alex Stahlmann: be

00:39:41 luke: put

00:39:41 Alex Stahlmann: your number

00:39:42 luke: your favorite

00:39:42 Alex Stahlmann: one.

00:39:42 luke: at three. Um, so, first off, uh, has his own distinction from Mario. Green is a cooler color than red. Tall versus short. But...

00:39:53 Alex Stahlmann: Mm-hmm.

00:39:55 luke: His jumping thing is cool in the games. I like to play with them, but his standalone games, More consistent than Treasure Tracker, obviously, because there's more of them. Uh, but Luigi's Mansion, one of the most gorgeous games on the Switch and like legit really cool environmental game. Like, just super cool. And the

00:40:16 Alex Stahlmann: Fair.

00:40:16 luke: whole cowardly thing is just kind of the funny goofies. Three, yeah. He's brave. He always comes through. He just doesn't want to.

00:40:24 Alex Stahlmann: Fair.

00:40:25 luke: He's just a big scaredy cat put in the most ridiculous situations possible. And then as the comedic foil, I think he's just tops. Uh, if you've played any of the RPG games, uh, specifically thousand year door, he's like always off on his own side adventures. And he's always like, oh my God, dude, you wouldn't believe what I've been getting into. And he's like, One step ahead slash behind you the whole time. Like just getting into trouble and it's just like hilarious comedic foil. So, uh, he's cute. He's funny. His own games. Fucking slap. And he's just the, he's the twin brother. I have twins, but he's also like Loki, little brother, second player, doesn't mind, just wants to gas up his big bro. Um, Luigi's just awesome, dude. He's the best.

00:41:09 Alex Stahlmann: I can dig it.

00:41:10 luke: Yeah.

00:41:11 Alex Stahlmann: I got respect for Luigi.

00:41:11 luke: I have a Luigi tattoo on my inner thigh.

00:41:15 Alex Stahlmann: Nice.

00:41:15 luke: My balls kind of hit it. No, I'm just playing.

00:41:19 Alex Stahlmann: It's got a little weird.

00:41:20 luke: What if I did have that and I just never told you?

00:41:24 Alex Stahlmann: I mean, cool. It's choice.

00:41:29 luke: It's a choice.

00:41:32 Alex Stahlmann: All right. My number one, bro.

00:41:34 luke: Mm.

00:41:35 Alex Stahlmann: I got that Luigi love, but he came in at five.

00:41:37 luke: Mm.

00:41:37 Alex Stahlmann: My number one goes to my boy, Bowser.

00:41:40 luke: Yeah.

00:41:41 Alex Stahlmann: You knew it was coming.

00:41:42 luke: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.

00:41:43 Alex Stahlmann: Do

00:41:44 luke: Because

00:41:44 Alex Stahlmann: I even speak to it? Like, Bowser's king. King Bowser, man.

00:41:49 luke: Is there anything I didn't mention that you were just like, man, you're not even putting respect on Bowser's name right now?

00:41:55 Alex Stahlmann: Dude, I think the, I like, have you seen, like, the silly, like, internet, like, conspiracy theories about, like, the Bowser, Mario Trupple, and all that stuff? I just think that's hilarious.

00:42:08 luke: No, that's great.

00:42:09 Alex Stahlmann: Yeah, that's just funny to me. Uh, but I would say he's just like this, he's just like the perfect baddie, you know, because he's not, he's like bad, but he's not evil. You know, he's like, he's kind of a Thor to Mario's side. Like, he's in this, I mean, that kind of depends on the scenario, I guess,

00:42:27 luke: Depends

00:42:28 Alex Stahlmann: but.

00:42:28 luke: how you feel about fucking genocide.

00:42:31 Alex Stahlmann: Fair enough. Fair enough. But, uh, in, in terms of the Mario universe though, you know, he's like, uh, I like, well, early, you know, I've been mentioning, I like to play my, I like to main heavies and things like smash. Uh, I'll even mess with Bowser in card even though I usually go for more of like a middleweight character. Um, but he's gonna be fun once you start, once you start getting that speed up.

00:42:53 luke: Was I supposed to have muted my mic in the Google chat too?

00:42:58 Alex Stahlmann: Uh, no. Ah,

00:42:59 luke: Okay, you're not just gonna have wrecked audio.

00:43:02 Alex Stahlmann: it'll be fine. If it's been muted all the time and doesn't work as a backup, but

00:43:06 luke: No, it hasn't been. I was

00:43:08 Alex Stahlmann: yeah,

00:43:08 luke: just really

00:43:08 Alex Stahlmann: no,

00:43:08 luke: afraid

00:43:08 Alex Stahlmann: that's good.

00:43:09 luke: you're going to have like an echo when you listen to it. And I was like, oh, no.

00:43:12 Alex Stahlmann: Nah, I think it'll be okay.

00:43:13 luke: Cool. All right. Yeah.

00:43:15 Alex Stahlmann: But yeah, no, Bowser's like, dude, he's just, he's the man. Like, he's, uh, he's Mario's number one, number one enemy.

00:43:23 luke: Caefi,

00:43:23 Alex Stahlmann: Dude,

00:43:24 luke: Eddie.

00:43:24 Alex Stahlmann: the Jack Black, like, Jack Black, like, elevated the shit out of Bowser as well. Like, I was already into Bowser. Like, you brought up, via some of the other characters, just how funny he is and like, In like, the Mario RPGs, the Paper Marios. Like, he's just like this, especially the Paper Marios, dude. Like, I really like his presence in the Paper Marios. He's like, kind of like this, I don't know, just like

00:43:45 luke: Big

00:43:45 Alex Stahlmann: a whiny, like,

00:43:45 luke: whiny brat. Yeah, it's pretty

00:43:46 Alex Stahlmann: Yeah,

00:43:47 luke: funny.

00:43:47 Alex Stahlmann: it's just funny.

00:43:48 luke: Uh, his outfit in Mario Golf, dude, Guy Fieri Bowser.

00:43:50 Alex Stahlmann: Dude, killer. Uh, huge fan of that. Um, he's my main in Mario Golf for sure. Um,

00:43:59 luke: Yeah,

00:43:59 Alex Stahlmann: he's

00:44:00 luke: it's

00:44:00 Alex Stahlmann: also

00:44:00 luke: a fun

00:44:00 Alex Stahlmann: good in Mario

00:44:00 luke: one.

00:44:00 Alex Stahlmann: Tennis. Dude, so it's uh, it's Bowser. King Bowser, dude. He's also got a mess of kids. I think that's hilarious. At least one you say, but I don't know. I think all those other ones might be his children as well.

00:44:12 luke: Fair.

00:44:14 Alex Stahlmann: Um, and he, I will say the one knocking is positive. He's still, he's still a gang. He's still number one, but he, he does need to lay off peach a little bit and like clearly not working out for

00:44:22 luke: He's

00:44:22 Alex Stahlmann: him.

00:44:22 luke: a little obsessive.

00:44:23 Alex Stahlmann: Yeah, it's like, come on, bro. Um, but I would, I would say too that like, I already was into, I was already into Bowser. And I think with the Mario movie, dude, Jack Black, like, I've always been a fan of Jack Black, too, and like, he's like, become such this big thing that like, it's borderline, like, you feel a little hipster, you're like, I don't like Jack Black because he's too cool, but it's like, nah, dude, the dude's just too cool.

00:44:43 luke: Never wavered on my love for Jack Black.

00:44:45 Alex Stahlmann: Same, same. So,

00:44:46 luke: Never

00:44:47 Alex Stahlmann: but I

00:44:47 luke: wavered.

00:44:47 Alex Stahlmann: mean, that's what I'm saying, but he's gotten so big, especially with the Minecraft movie now. Um,

00:44:50 luke: Yeah,

00:44:51 Alex Stahlmann: but

00:44:51 luke: people

00:44:51 Alex Stahlmann: you know,

00:44:51 luke: find

00:44:51 Alex Stahlmann: I'm

00:44:51 luke: that

00:44:51 Alex Stahlmann: here

00:44:51 luke: annoying,

00:44:51 Alex Stahlmann: for it, dude.

00:44:52 luke: but I

00:44:52 Alex Stahlmann: I'm

00:44:52 luke: just won't.

00:44:52 Alex Stahlmann: here for that energy.

00:44:53 luke: Yeah, it's sometimes people need to be annoying for the kids.

00:44:57 Alex Stahlmann: I can dig it, dude. I think he's a great Bowser. I look forward to him continuing to do Bowser, hopefully. Um, but yeah, Bowser.

00:45:05 luke: He's

00:45:05 Alex Stahlmann: Perfect

00:45:05 luke: the next,

00:45:05 Alex Stahlmann: batty.

00:45:06 luke: he's gonna be Arthur Morgan, didn't you know? Mm-hmm.

00:45:09 Alex Stahlmann: Jack Black. No, not.

00:45:13 luke: Funny, though.

00:45:14 Alex Stahlmann: Yeah,

00:45:15 luke: He could be that old drunk guy. What

00:45:18 Alex Stahlmann: for sure.

00:45:18 luke: was his name?

00:45:20 Alex Stahlmann: Let's list, man. So I've got, I've got my number, uh, My number five, Luigi, four Wario, DK, Yoshi, Bowser.

00:45:31 luke: D.K. Peach, Bowser, Captain Toad, Luigi,

00:45:34 Alex Stahlmann: Nice.

00:45:35 luke: my king. Mm-hmm.

00:45:37 Alex Stahlmann: Right on. I can dig it.

00:45:38 luke: Mm-hmm.

00:45:39 Alex Stahlmann: Now what we gotta do is we gotta get that mess of, we gotta like set up a Super Smash tournament and have the computers just play each other with our, with our pools and see who wins.

00:45:49 luke: It's

00:45:50 Alex Stahlmann: Ha ha

00:45:50 luke: too bad there's

00:45:51 Alex Stahlmann: ha.

00:45:51 luke: no toad. A

00:45:52 Alex Stahlmann: Oh yeah, that's right. I guess

00:45:53 luke: disrespect.

00:45:53 Alex Stahlmann: you, I guess

00:45:54 luke: Yeah,

00:45:54 Alex Stahlmann: you're at a handicap, bro.

00:45:56 luke: I know. I'll have to have two Luigis.

00:45:59 Alex Stahlmann: Well, cool. That's a fun list, man. Let's take a little break. Come back with our Unsanctioned Sponsor.

00:46:06 luke: You got one, dude? I think I did the last one. Could be wrong.

00:46:15 Alex Stahlmann: No, but I can think of one. Perhaps. You fuck with crystals, dude?

00:46:38 luke: No, not at all. Hate them.

00:46:41 Alex Stahlmann: Hate them?

00:46:41 luke: Hate

00:46:42 Alex Stahlmann: Oh,

00:46:42 luke: them.

00:46:42 Alex Stahlmann: dude, you're gonna hate this then. Because this month we are unofficially brought to you in part by crystals.

00:46:49 luke: This guy goes to California and he comes back at Crystal, bro, what's happening, dude?

00:46:53 Alex Stahlmann: Dude,

00:46:53 luke: You weren't even

00:46:53 Alex Stahlmann: I

00:46:54 luke: there

00:46:54 Alex Stahlmann: am for

00:46:54 luke: that

00:46:54 Alex Stahlmann: sure.

00:46:54 luke: long. Goes to Joshua Tree and he comes back and he's like, have you heard about Crystal's brother? What's happening here?

00:46:59 Alex Stahlmann: A hundred percent. Dude, I recently, not exactly. Um. I wouldn't say it's because of Joshua Tree, but I was like, I went down the rabbit hole. One of my buddies is really into a certain, like, stone crystal thing, but like,

00:47:13 luke: Steven?

00:47:13 Alex Stahlmann: I've never, I never, nah, it's a different dude than Tom. Uh-huh.

00:47:16 luke: You have multiple friends I could assume would be into crystals? Continue.

00:47:22 Alex Stahlmann: But anyways, uh, when he talks about this certain like crystal or like, you know, uh, we won't, it's called a mold of bite, I believe. And then, you know, For those listening, you can look it up if you want, but Moldavite, like, basically has this energy to it that's supposed to be really, like, life-shifting, but it becomes, it has, like, a duality to it. So, like, good things can come from Moldavite, and it can be really, like, uh, Like crazy

00:47:46 luke: It's

00:47:46 Alex Stahlmann: upheavaling

00:47:46 luke: the Mario

00:47:47 Alex Stahlmann: change.

00:47:47 luke: Wario of crystals, dude.

00:47:48 Alex Stahlmann: Kind of, bro, kind of. So, but here's the deal, though, is, like, really bad things can happen, like, because of this energy as well. So that's, like, I just don't want to, like, I'm not, like, I'm not, like, falling in on the crystal, like, boo-woo stuff, but, like, here's the deal. I grew up Catholic, so, like, you know, like, I obviously

00:48:02 luke: The

00:48:02 Alex Stahlmann: believe in

00:48:03 luke: Pope's

00:48:03 Alex Stahlmann: some crazy

00:48:03 luke: a Midwesterner

00:48:03 Alex Stahlmann: things. Dude,

00:48:04 luke: finally and you're gonna talk to me about fucking crystals.

00:48:08 Alex Stahlmann: there's a thing though, is like, I'm not like, I don't like believe in ghosts and I don't believe in like that kind of stuff, but like kinda,

00:48:15 luke: So

00:48:15 Alex Stahlmann: you

00:48:15 luke: do you have

00:48:16 Alex Stahlmann: know

00:48:16 luke: any

00:48:16 Alex Stahlmann: what I

00:48:16 luke: Moldavite,

00:48:16 Alex Stahlmann: mean?

00:48:17 luke: dude? Do I have

00:48:17 Alex Stahlmann: I

00:48:17 luke: to...

00:48:18 Alex Stahlmann: don't have any Moldavite. So I bring up Moldavite because it has this like, it has this potential for like this upheaval that it can cause like to be negative. Um, and like, I don't, I'm not here for that, dude. Like, I don't wanna bring anything into my house that could potentially bring negative energy to my life. Like, that's the exact opposite of what I'm looking for. Um, but I've been getting back into and maybe the true say unsafe and sponsor of this should be meditation and journaling,

00:48:43 luke: I'm into

00:48:43 Alex Stahlmann: but

00:48:43 luke: those.

00:48:43 Alex Stahlmann: that's not

00:48:44 luke: Why

00:48:44 Alex Stahlmann: fun, but

00:48:44 luke: couldn't it have

00:48:45 Alex Stahlmann: that's.

00:48:45 luke: just been that?

00:48:46 Alex Stahlmann: That's not fun at all. Uh, but I've been trying to, I've been trying to do daily journals and trying to meditate. It's been really great for my, like. My mental health and like just kind of like getting, um, I don't know, my, my work day going and just getting like kind of on track and like in a, in a good, you know, a good, like creative space. Right. Um, and a good, just like good workflow. Uh, but here's the deal, like I'm also like, um, I'll relate this slightly to video games. You're not gonna catch me out here having a bunch of fun times buying a bunch of digital games. Yes, I buy digital games, of course. I got a whole mess of them.

00:49:20 luke: Yeah,

00:49:20 Alex Stahlmann: But

00:49:20 luke: yeah,

00:49:20 Alex Stahlmann: I prefer

00:49:21 luke: yeah.

00:49:21 Alex Stahlmann: to have You know, a shelf with all my Switch games on it. I prefer to buy physical. So I've been kind of bummed when I hear about like all these third party Nintendo Switch two games coming with their physical copy and just being like basically download keys. Uh, that's just whack. But that's

00:49:39 luke: That

00:49:39 Alex Stahlmann: neither

00:49:39 luke: is a big

00:49:39 Alex Stahlmann: here nor

00:49:40 luke: blow.

00:49:40 Alex Stahlmann: there

00:49:40 luke: I

00:49:40 Alex Stahlmann: because

00:49:40 luke: also,

00:49:40 Alex Stahlmann: we are not being

00:49:41 luke: yeah.

00:49:41 Alex Stahlmann: unsanctioned sponsored by Nintendo. But

00:49:44 luke: Yeah,

00:49:44 Alex Stahlmann: uh,

00:49:44 luke: they don't

00:49:44 Alex Stahlmann: but

00:49:44 luke: have the

00:49:45 Alex Stahlmann: anyways.

00:49:45 luke: budget, dude. Haven't

00:49:46 Alex Stahlmann: Eh.

00:49:46 luke: you heard? They

00:49:47 Alex Stahlmann: What's that? Yeah,

00:49:48 luke: don't have the budget,

00:49:49 Alex Stahlmann: fuck.

00:49:49 luke: dude, haven't you heard?

00:49:51 Alex Stahlmann: To, to, uh, to sponsor us. Yeah, I know. Oh, 100%.

00:49:55 luke: Just making fun of them for charging insane amounts and then not even having physical games anymore for their clearly dedicated stupid fanboy base. I bought all these physical games on the Switch, so they would have had me, but if I get a Switch two I'm going all digital.

00:50:10 Alex Stahlmann: Ah, word. Ah, I will, I'll do first

00:50:12 luke: Just.

00:50:13 Alex Stahlmann: party physical still. As long as the

00:50:14 luke: Even

00:50:14 Alex Stahlmann: game, as

00:50:15 luke: if it's just

00:50:15 Alex Stahlmann: long

00:50:15 luke: a

00:50:15 Alex Stahlmann: as

00:50:15 luke: code,

00:50:15 Alex Stahlmann: there's a download

00:50:16 luke: dude?

00:50:16 Alex Stahlmann: on it. What?

00:50:17 luke: Even

00:50:17 Alex Stahlmann: No,

00:50:18 luke: if it's

00:50:18 Alex Stahlmann: if

00:50:18 luke: just

00:50:18 Alex Stahlmann: there's

00:50:18 luke: a

00:50:18 Alex Stahlmann: just

00:50:18 luke: code?

00:50:18 Alex Stahlmann: a code, I'm not going to

00:50:19 luke: Yeah.

00:50:19 Alex Stahlmann: do it.

00:50:20 luke: Seems

00:50:20 Alex Stahlmann: But, uh,

00:50:20 luke: like that's

00:50:21 Alex Stahlmann: but that's

00:50:21 luke: the future.

00:50:21 Alex Stahlmann: neither here nor there because I want to talk to you about citrine, dude. So I've got my, I got myself some citrine, which is a crystal.

00:50:26 luke: Do you have a

00:50:26 Alex Stahlmann: Um.

00:50:26 luke: second follow-up Crisco mention?

00:50:29 Alex Stahlmann: Yeah, dude, the reason that I wanted to get, the reason I brought up Moldavite is to tell you how I like started the rabbit hole of thinking about this stuff. Because,

00:50:36 luke: Who are

00:50:37 Alex Stahlmann: and the reason

00:50:37 luke: you, man?

00:50:37 Alex Stahlmann: that I bring up the physical stuff It's because I've been doing this meditating and I've been doing the journaling and I wanted to give like, I wanted to like the meditating thing could be a little like. It, it, it bugs me sometimes cause I'm like when I'm just like breathing and like, I don't know. And I get, that's part of it. It's part of

00:50:54 luke: too

00:50:54 Alex Stahlmann: the practice.

00:50:54 luke: chaotic of a brain or something.

00:50:56 Alex Stahlmann: Maybe. It's been getting better. It's a thing that you got to do over time. It's just practice or whatever, you know,

00:51:01 luke: For sure.

00:51:02 Alex Stahlmann: but like to, to give myself intention, I was like, well, it might be nice to have something physical that I can like give myself intention to this meditation. Hence the crystals. Right. And I wanted to bring some of that, uh, I wanted to start to channel some of that energy into a physical aspect, hence the crystals, right? So, like, I found citrine, and citrine's cool because it has all that positive energy that is like, yeah, dude, I don't know if this woo-woo shit works, but I'm cool with having some citrine in my room, in my office, and like, Moldavite kind of scares me a little bit.

00:51:33 luke: I mean, all those powerful entities, you know. Oh,

00:51:38 Alex Stahlmann: Indeed. So,

00:51:38 luke: boy.

00:51:39 Alex Stahlmann: like, but Citrine is cool, man, because it, like, it brings, it's supposed to bring abundance. It's supposed to bring creativity. It's supposed to do all these things. And I'm like, here's the deal. I didn't, like, buy Citrine and expect to, like, I have all this shit just happen. Like that's not my, that's not how this thing

00:51:53 luke: You

00:51:53 Alex Stahlmann: works.

00:51:53 luke: drinking unpasteurized raw milk too, my dude? What's going on in here,

00:51:57 Alex Stahlmann: But

00:51:57 luke: dude?

00:51:57 Alex Stahlmann: it's for sure. But uh, but what I like about it is like it gives me a physical like manifestation of what What I'm trying to project into my meditation, right? So the whole idea with why I've been meditating is like, okay, I want to like be better about my creative work. I want to be more like better about procrastination. I want to be better about these things. Which is fine. But now I have like a little physical reminder because I got a little citrine on my ledge that like charges in the sun because that's important too. But dude, so I'd be, so I, you know, but, uh, and then I can hold it too. I can hold it when I meditate and it gives me, I'm able to, I'm able to,

00:52:38 luke: Does

00:52:38 Alex Stahlmann: uh,

00:52:38 luke: it

00:52:38 Alex Stahlmann: you

00:52:38 luke: regrow

00:52:38 Alex Stahlmann: know, have a little

00:52:39 luke: hair?

00:52:39 Alex Stahlmann: mantra.

00:52:39 luke: I'm asking for a friend, dude.

00:52:41 Alex Stahlmann: Maybe you'd probably find some crystals for that,

00:52:43 luke: What's

00:52:43 Alex Stahlmann: but

00:52:43 luke: up,

00:52:43 Alex Stahlmann: I'm

00:52:44 luke: dude?

00:52:44 Alex Stahlmann: not here for that, dude. I'm not here for the full-on crystal game. I'm just here for like, if it has a woo-woo side effects, like if whatever, it's got a little magic to it, like, cool. Like, that's a nice little byproduct. Uh, but for me, it gives me a physical and that's why I brought up the video game thing. Um, you know, cause I'm just the type of person that likes to have like that physical presence of something. Uh, and then for this, like adding it to my meditation, it's nice cause it's been able to, uh, give me a little bit of a, like, uh, more intention to my meditation or whatever. And more directions, so. And you know, if all of a sudden, like, I become the most creative, powerful man of abundance in the world, it's probably because of the citrine on my windowsill.

00:53:19 luke: Wow, I've, you know, you've leveled up.

00:53:25 Alex Stahlmann: Bet you didn't expect that. That

00:53:27 luke: Nope.

00:53:27 Alex Stahlmann: was a hard sponsor to bring in.

00:53:28 luke: Nope.

00:53:29 Alex Stahlmann: But, uh,

00:53:29 luke: That

00:53:29 Alex Stahlmann: you know, like

00:53:30 luke: took some

00:53:30 Alex Stahlmann: I

00:53:30 luke: time.

00:53:30 Alex Stahlmann: said,

00:53:30 luke: Okay.

00:53:30 Alex Stahlmann: here for it, here for it. Not taking any of their money because they're, they're, you know, it's a rock. But what are you going to do?

00:53:37 luke: The Rock makes a lot of money.

00:53:39 Alex Stahlmann: I mean... This is like the wrestler dude.

00:53:44 luke: Yeah,

00:53:45 Alex Stahlmann: Get the fuck out

00:53:45 luke: this

00:53:45 Alex Stahlmann: of here.

00:53:46 luke: is bad. If you're talking about crystals, I can't give you dad jokes.

00:53:49 Alex Stahlmann: You

00:53:49 luke: Get

00:53:49 Alex Stahlmann: sure can.

00:53:50 luke: the fuck

00:53:50 Alex Stahlmann: All

00:53:50 luke: out of here.

00:53:50 Alex Stahlmann: right.

00:53:51 luke: Crystal meth.

00:53:52 Alex Stahlmann: Let's.

00:53:52 luke: Brought to you by crystal meth.

00:53:54 Alex Stahlmann: All right.

00:53:54 luke: Hell's the only crystal.

00:53:59 Alex Stahlmann: You've been side question, bro?

00:54:01 luke: Yeah, um, just the chronicles of one particularly not great gamer playing Elden Ring. And I think right after we last talked, um, I... I wouldn't call it a breakthrough. I just realized how like playing with uh, summons works and um, have just now immersed myself in the great debate between the sweatiest community of all time and that's saying something I've been a part of or at least Uh, lurked in a lot of sweaty communities, but. Online speaking, uh, you can get summons and so many people are like so puritanical about summons and then specifically within summons, you can have a mimic. It's you summon yourself. It's a mimic of you, right?

00:54:43 Alex Stahlmann: Oh, wow. Okay.

00:54:44 luke: And then you level them up. So there's this, uh, dual gargoyle boss fight that was just this biggest roadblock for me for the longest time. Like I almost quit the game because I like went to three different areas. And I kept hitting these different roadblocks and I was so frustrated. I gave it a few days. I came back. I got through the other stuff, but I could not beat. The, um, gargoyles. And one, they're a bitch. Two, they're a bitch. Three, there's two of them and it's just so annoying. And they're like super aggro. They have this wide area poison attack. Uh, trust me, I've found every piece of literature. Talking about how shitty this fight is because I was just sad and I was looking it up trying to figure out how to do it. And long story short is that I'm like a dex arcane Bleed build, which is whatever, right? It's a play style, but that's really bad against these guys. So I made

00:55:32 Alex Stahlmann: Yeah.

00:55:32 luke: it like extra tough and I did the mimic and I just like wiped the floor with them. And I told my homie at school who's my little eighth grade nerd who tells me how to do stuff and we talk about the game and it's almost like he learned that his heroes are all garbage when I told him I used a mimic. He was so bummed. It

00:55:51 Alex Stahlmann: Oh,

00:55:51 luke: was,

00:55:51 Alex Stahlmann: no.

00:55:51 luke: it was hilarious. And I was like, what dude? So like, that's just, it ended up being fun to argue about. And then I saw like all these arguments online afterwards about like, I wasn't looking for it. It's just, you know, sometimes when something's been. Brought

00:56:05 Alex Stahlmann: The

00:56:05 luke: to your

00:56:05 Alex Stahlmann: universe

00:56:05 luke: attention.

00:56:06 Alex Stahlmann: had

00:56:06 luke: You,

00:56:06 Alex Stahlmann: to tell

00:56:06 luke: you

00:56:06 Alex Stahlmann: you that

00:56:06 luke: start to see it more, you know,

00:56:08 Alex Stahlmann: you're a loser.

00:56:08 luke: but I saw, I saw people arguing about it and they're like, the game is built with these. Therefore the game is technically balanced for you to use. Summons. And they're like, if you refuse to use the things the games give you, you were playing on a modified difficulty. And then people get all mad about that. So, uh. It's the weirdest game ever. I think I'm very solidly, I'm gonna give it, I'm gonna cheat. I'm gonna give it a 9.5 or a 4.75 if you like to use your five scale. Cause I love it. I think about it a lot. I've had some of the coolest encounters and the coolest enemies and some of the coolest fights and the coolest feelings. But a game you can't pause needs to be dinged somewhere.

00:56:51 Alex Stahlmann: Hmm.

00:56:51 luke: And no quest log or anything to keep track of what the hell's going on ever without using the internet forty times just needs to be dinged somehow. So, small, stupid shit like that stacks up to me. But other than that, dude, like, the legacy dungeons and the environmental, like, just, like, vibes of that game are so cool. Like, the art's crazy and the different things you run into all the time. I like frequently dork out about how cool something is. So, uh, it's taking me forever. I would have beaten most other games, but this game is just hard as balls and I can't. Play it for too many hours in a row because it just gets too frustrating.

00:57:28 Alex Stahlmann: Sure.

00:57:29 luke: Um, but then I'm thinking it's pretty cool that I picked up Doom Eternal.

00:57:35 Alex Stahlmann: Mm-hmm.

00:57:36 luke: And that is a nice little palette cleanser. Uh, I wouldn't call it easy. And I'm sure as I get into the game, maybe I'll run into a roadblock and it won't be a fun trades-offsies vibe because that'll just turn difficult on me, but... For right now, I just like run and gun and listening to metal music. Just ripping demons apart, dude.

00:57:54 Alex Stahlmann: Right on. Doom is too. Doom is cool. I guess I'm not surprised. I'm glad, I guess, that you are continuing your Elden Ring journey. I've fallen off. I haven't gotten back.

00:58:07 luke: It's so good, dude. It's like Zelda. I keep coming back to that. It's

00:58:11 Alex Stahlmann: Dude.

00:58:11 luke: like Zelda. It's like some of the best stuff of Zelda and Skyrim put together and a lot

00:58:15 Alex Stahlmann: Right

00:58:15 luke: of the stuff

00:58:16 Alex Stahlmann: on.

00:58:16 luke: I don't like about those games taken away and then its own

00:58:19 Alex Stahlmann: Nice.

00:58:19 luke: weird Elden Ringy shit. Or I should say from softy shit. Kind of thrown in there. So it's sick, dude.

00:58:26 Alex Stahlmann: Yeah, I've just, I've just fallen off like I'm in a, I'm in a weird gaming rut almost. It's like, uh, the, it's really hard for me to, to go full sand on anything that like commands that kind of time.

00:58:38 luke: Yeah, I've been watching TV shows and reading books and stuff so it's been a little bit of a little bit and then NBA playoffs for both of us as far as like if you only got so many times to video game

00:58:50 Alex Stahlmann: Dude, a

00:58:51 luke: And

00:58:51 Alex Stahlmann: hundred

00:58:51 luke: if

00:58:51 Alex Stahlmann: percent.

00:58:51 luke: you're watching playoff games, that's going to rip away a lot of those hours. It's a good vibe, but

00:58:56 Alex Stahlmann: Yeah,

00:58:56 luke: you get the point.

00:58:57 Alex Stahlmann: NBA playoffs have been a major side quest for me this past month. I've been all in, obviously, on the Timberwolves, watching all those games. I've even watched a handful of like the, uh, the Knicks Celtics series. I like catching some of the Pacers Cavaliers, which, um, I mean, it won't be a spoiler to anybody listening to this on the 15th, but they just won the series. The, uh, the Pacers did.

00:59:19 luke: Oh, it is now.

00:59:20 Alex Stahlmann: Yep, so they just went up 4-1.

00:59:22 luke: Okay.

00:59:23 Alex Stahlmann: Over the Cavaliers, which is a bit of an upset, um. But, you know, that happens. This is the NBA.

00:59:30 luke: Mm hmm. Mm hmm.

00:59:31 Alex Stahlmann: And it's also the playoffs, you know,

00:59:33 luke: Injuries

00:59:33 Alex Stahlmann: for those that

00:59:34 luke: too.

00:59:34 Alex Stahlmann: are keyed in. The injuries, too. Yeah, I know a lot of people are upset. And I mean, I'm upset, too, that Steph got hurt on the first game against the Timberwolves. But, um. I don't know. You look through history, dude, and that happens. Uh, it's, it's not, it's not ideal. Um, sounds like, uh, uh, you know, for the Celtics, Tatum pulled a, or tore his Achilles, which is, which is not great.

00:59:56 luke: I

00:59:57 Alex Stahlmann: Um,

00:59:57 luke: think that's like the worst

00:59:57 Alex Stahlmann: yeah.

00:59:58 luke: injury in sports to this

00:59:59 Alex Stahlmann: Dude,

00:59:59 luke: day.

01:00:00 Alex Stahlmann: he's going to be down, down enough for a long time. That's a big bummer, big setback for the, we'll

01:00:03 luke: I used

01:00:04 Alex Stahlmann: see.

01:00:04 luke: to

01:00:04 Alex Stahlmann: I

01:00:04 luke: end

01:00:04 Alex Stahlmann: mean,

01:00:04 luke: careers

01:00:04 Alex Stahlmann: dude,

01:00:05 luke: back in the day.

01:00:06 Alex Stahlmann: for

01:00:07 luke: Not

01:00:07 Alex Stahlmann: sure.

01:00:07 luke: anymore,

01:00:07 Alex Stahlmann: Um,

01:00:08 luke: but it

01:00:09 Alex Stahlmann: So

01:00:09 luke: did.

01:00:09 Alex Stahlmann: he'll be out for probably a good chunk of the beginning of the season, I bet, if not the whole season

01:00:12 luke: He'll

01:00:13 Alex Stahlmann: next year,

01:00:13 luke: be out

01:00:13 Alex Stahlmann: which

01:00:13 luke: all

01:00:13 Alex Stahlmann: sucks.

01:00:13 luke: of next year. There's,

01:00:15 Alex Stahlmann: Hey, Willie.

01:00:15 luke: yeah,

01:00:15 Alex Stahlmann: Oof.

01:00:15 luke: it's a year-long deal.

01:00:17 Alex Stahlmann: Yeah, that's tough, dude.

01:00:18 luke: To

01:00:18 Alex Stahlmann: Um,

01:00:19 luke: be good.

01:00:19 Alex Stahlmann: they got a good team otherwise, like, I mean, like, but he is kinda, I mean, he is, he's a big deal with, for them.

01:00:24 luke: Fun

01:00:24 Alex Stahlmann: But, uh,

01:00:25 luke: fact,

01:00:25 Alex Stahlmann: it's crazy,

01:00:25 luke: do you want

01:00:25 Alex Stahlmann: dude,

01:00:25 luke: to know

01:00:25 Alex Stahlmann: like.

01:00:25 luke: how much their team's going to cost together as currently constructed next year?

01:00:30 Alex Stahlmann: Sorry if you know.

01:00:31 luke: $500 million, so that'll be a different team next year.

01:00:34 Alex Stahlmann: Word.

01:00:35 luke: That's

01:00:35 Alex Stahlmann: Word.

01:00:35 luke: insane. It's

01:00:36 Alex Stahlmann: That

01:00:36 luke: the highest,

01:00:36 Alex Stahlmann: is

01:00:36 luke: like,

01:00:36 Alex Stahlmann: wild.

01:00:37 luke: yeah, with the luxury tax and all that, they're a $500 million team next year, so they will be different.

01:00:42 Alex Stahlmann: Yeah, they probably could, uh, justify that if they got another chip, but it doesn't look like that's gonna happen. I think the Knicks are gonna pull ahead. I mean, they already

01:00:50 luke: Yeah,

01:00:50 Alex Stahlmann: have up 3-1.

01:00:51 luke: they will.

01:00:52 Alex Stahlmann: Yeah. Uh, but it's been fun, dude. The Timberwolves been scrappy. Um, it's always, you know how it goes. You're, you're a fan as well. So it's like, it's always a very anxiety inducing, like what's going on? Why are you playing so sloppy? Well, we've been

01:01:04 luke: Officially

01:01:04 Alex Stahlmann: doing it.

01:01:05 luke: the golden era of Timberwolves basketball. Metrically

01:01:07 Alex Stahlmann: Sure

01:01:07 luke: speaking,

01:01:07 Alex Stahlmann: is.

01:01:08 luke: we've only won two other playoff series ever before last year, so combined this

01:01:13 Alex Stahlmann: Yep.

01:01:13 luke: year and last year, that's the longest. Successful streak of all time that we've ever had. So

01:01:17 Alex Stahlmann: Yes,

01:01:18 luke: this is truly

01:01:18 Alex Stahlmann: sir.

01:01:18 luke: the golden era of 30-ish years of Timberwolves basketball. This is it, Doc.

01:01:24 Alex Stahlmann: It's fun. A lot of people getting on the ant train, dude. Uh, he's such

01:01:27 luke: Yeah,

01:01:27 Alex Stahlmann: a fun character to

01:01:28 luke: it's

01:01:28 Alex Stahlmann: like,

01:01:28 luke: true.

01:01:29 Alex Stahlmann: uh, to watch play. And then it's like his, his personality is just like, it's, it's, it's wild, dude. And it's like, it's, I'm so glad that he did the Olympics last year, dude,

01:01:37 luke: Mm-hmm.

01:01:37 Alex Stahlmann: because I think that's what put him over the top.

01:01:38 luke: Mm-hmm.

01:01:39 Alex Stahlmann: Like, it definitely pushed him to become a three-point shooter, hanging out with Steph, hanging out with LeBron, even when they lost to uh, when LeBron lost to uh, the Timberwolves, LeBron and Luke and everybody else, the Lakers, I guess. Uh, you know, LeBron comes up and he was like, take the next, you know, bring it to the next level, dude. He's like, all the, all the old heads, like, want to see this, all the, like, players, the OGs, like, want to see this boy succeed. And that's exciting. Especially as a, as a Minnesota

01:02:02 luke: How

01:02:02 Alex Stahlmann: fan.

01:02:03 luke: do you think the NBA feels about their potentials for the finals being Denver, Minnesota, Oklahoma City, Indianapolis?

01:02:16 Alex Stahlmann: Dude, hilarious.

01:02:17 luke: Before the Cleveland getting knocked out, but that just adds to

01:02:22 Alex Stahlmann: Yeah.

01:02:22 luke: it like Cleveland. So it's like, You, especially if the Knicks don't make it, you will hear people complaining about the finals not being entertaining because people don't like the big cities. But if you like ball, these are all cool teams.

01:02:35 Alex Stahlmann: Dude, 100%. I'm into it, dude. All those Midwest teams, I love it. I mean, we're from the Midwest, so there's that. But, um, you know, that's a lot of basketball to be watching. I keying pretty hard on the Timberwolves games, but some of those other, like, some of the other stuff, like, I'll go in and out. Um, and I'm playing a lot of, uh, like Mario Golf on the 3D of golf games, dude. Golf games have been fun

01:02:54 luke: Hmm.

01:02:54 Alex Stahlmann: because I tried to do like a couple RPGs. Like I was, uh, cause I was really like, had a good run on Final Fantasy for a while. I was doing Pokemon. I've talked about those on the pod. Uh, those are still fun to fire up and like edge up a little bit more or whatever. But dude, the golf games are great. I've been playing, uh, Hot Shots, like Hot Shots Golf on the PSP.

01:03:12 luke: Hell yeah.

01:03:13 Alex Stahlmann: Uh, Super Mario Golf on the, the 3DS. And it's just so nice to do a little handheld golf because it's, it's, you can just like, you know, commercial, which like, dude,

01:03:21 luke: Arcady

01:03:21 Alex Stahlmann: commercials, ugh.

01:03:22 luke: style golf is

01:03:23 Alex Stahlmann: Mm-hmm.

01:03:24 luke: unmatched in video games. It's

01:03:25 Alex Stahlmann: It's

01:03:25 luke: so

01:03:25 Alex Stahlmann: great.

01:03:25 luke: good. Yeah.

01:03:26 Alex Stahlmann: It's great. Uh, and I love that you're not like on a timer or anything either. So like, you know, you, you take your shot, like game comes back on, you just set it down. Pick it back up when uh, when you know, either a slow part of the game or um, or if you're on a commercial break or some shit, just like, it's been a nice companion.

01:03:44 luke: Hell yeah. You should play,

01:03:45 Alex Stahlmann: Yeah.

01:03:46 luke: say, Slay the Spire.

01:03:47 Alex Stahlmann: Slay would be good too, that's not a bad idea, I did think about that the other day, that's another one, another good pick up and play while you're watching some other stuff. Otherwise, dude, it's been like, you know, it's uh, it's basically, I mean, it's still officially spring, but summertime, feeling like summertime here in Minnie. Uh, doing yard work, hanging out in the backyard and stuff, it's great. Uh, you know, just being a dad, dude, I'm uh, Elton's at an age now where it's just like, I mean, it's always fun, but um, he's got his personality, he's running around doing his stuff, and it's just like, it's a cool, cool pocket to be in, dude, it's funny. I'm definitely living my old man life these days, you know, like fucking yard work, watching basketball, you know, my kid, like

01:04:27 luke: The old

01:04:28 Alex Stahlmann: just

01:04:28 luke: man

01:04:28 Alex Stahlmann: loving

01:04:28 luke: that

01:04:28 Alex Stahlmann: it.

01:04:28 luke: returns to his den to look at his basketball trading card shrine. There

01:04:34 Alex Stahlmann: Oh, dude, I got that shit too. I got the, I got my Timberwolves trying for the playoffs rocking. I like picked

01:04:38 luke: we

01:04:38 Alex Stahlmann: out

01:04:39 luke: go.

01:04:39 Alex Stahlmann: a bunch of that. I got the whole lineup, dude. I showed you that video. I got the whole, the whole lineup.

01:04:43 luke: Elton, you must not touch these cards. They are not for play.

01:04:47 Alex Stahlmann: Get

01:04:47 luke: You're

01:04:47 Alex Stahlmann: out of here. Well,

01:04:48 luke: the

01:04:48 Alex Stahlmann: yeah,

01:04:48 luke: Lego

01:04:48 Alex Stahlmann: dude,

01:04:48 luke: dad,

01:04:48 Alex Stahlmann: he's.

01:04:49 luke: dude. You're the Lego movie

01:04:50 Alex Stahlmann: Get

01:04:50 luke: dad.

01:04:50 Alex Stahlmann: the fuck

01:04:50 luke: I'm

01:04:50 Alex Stahlmann: out of here. Elton's

01:04:51 luke: trolling.

01:04:51 Alex Stahlmann: like, he's like nineteen eighteen months

01:04:53 luke: I'm

01:04:53 Alex Stahlmann: old. Like,

01:04:53 luke: trolling.

01:04:53 Alex Stahlmann: of course he's not gonna be messing with my cards. Uh, someday we'll do it all. I didn't even say this during the Mario stuff, but yeah, Elton says Mario. Mario.

01:05:01 luke: Mm-hmm.

01:05:01 Alex Stahlmann: He goes, Mario, or whatever.

01:05:03 luke: Wow.

01:05:04 Alex Stahlmann: It's so

01:05:05 luke: Ouija.

01:05:05 Alex Stahlmann: funny, he tries real hard. But he's got, uh, he's got some, like, Mario, like, he's got, like, a Mario Kart pajamas. He knows

01:05:11 luke: Hell yeah.

01:05:12 Alex Stahlmann: them, dude. And I've got, like, the Amiibos out, and he'll come into my office, and he'll, like, point at the Dr. Mario would be like, Mario.

01:05:17 luke: That's

01:05:18 Alex Stahlmann: Uh,

01:05:18 luke: what I'm talking about. Mario's a good recognizable character for kids. Uh, have you watched the movie with him? That was like the first movie the boys ever watched.

01:05:26 Alex Stahlmann: We haven't, he watches a lot of Toy Story um, when we do watch a movie, it's usually one of the Toy Story movies. We started the Mario movie, but because it like, It, like, has kind of an intense beginning scene. It's not, like, super

01:05:39 luke: Bowser,

01:05:40 Alex Stahlmann: intense

01:05:40 luke: your

01:05:40 Alex Stahlmann: as

01:05:40 luke: guy,

01:05:40 Alex Stahlmann: an adult.

01:05:41 luke: murdering.

01:05:41 Alex Stahlmann: But my boy Bowser coming in strong, you know, taking

01:05:44 luke: Yeah.

01:05:44 Alex Stahlmann: over that castle. Uh, so, so my wife, he was like, this is too violent. We gotta stop. And I'm like, whatever. Just

01:05:49 luke: Ah,

01:05:50 Alex Stahlmann: watch Toy Story.

01:05:51 luke: it'll be alright.

01:05:51 Alex Stahlmann: It's a, it's okay. You gotta pick your battles. You know what I'm saying?

01:05:54 luke: No doubt. No doubt.

01:05:56 Alex Stahlmann: So it's like, whatever, we'll just do something else. It's fine. Um, but yeah, no, he has not, he has not yet. So I'm excited to watch that with him. I'm trying to think, I know there's some other games in side quests. I mean, little, little spurts

01:06:08 luke: You

01:06:08 Alex Stahlmann: here and there.

01:06:09 luke: got Star Wars Outlaws probably at least an hour in there,

01:06:11 Alex Stahlmann: Ah,

01:06:11 luke: yeah.

01:06:12 Alex Stahlmann: that's true. I, I, I did get a nice chunk of Outlaws in, dude. Uh, that's a cool game, man. I didn't, like, totally pay attention to the discourse on, like, why people are shitting on it so much, but I had, uh, like I was telling you, like, at the beginning of, of, uh, SideQuest here, I've been in, like, a bit of a gaming rut. Uh, just like nothing really like had its hooks in me. And then I, you know, I've been tinkering and playing around with like my PS3 and like some retro stuff and had a lot in my Wii and stuff. Like was really having a fun time dabbling just in old games. And I fired up, I think it was Brotherhood. Um, for the PS3. And like,

01:06:43 luke: Ask

01:06:43 Alex Stahlmann: dude, there's something

01:06:43 luke: Creed.

01:06:43 Alex Stahlmann: about that.

01:06:44 luke: Yeah. Okay.

01:06:45 Alex Stahlmann: Yeah. Um, so like the, uh, like there's just something about that old format of Assassin's Creed that it was like, I was like, this is tight. This is really like, I'm enjoying this quite a bit. But then like a couple of nights, you know, I got a good, you know, like a couple of hours into that. And then a couple of nights later, I was like, well, I got Mirage. Why don't I like check out Mirage again now that I've had a little bit of this flavor? So I started messing around with Mirage and I was having a good time with it, but it wasn't like, and it was like, you know, I think, um, it didn't like have its hooks in me. Like I didn't really care where the story was going with Mirage, if that makes sense.

01:07:20 luke: Yeah.

01:07:21 Alex Stahlmann: And then, uh, but then I got, and then, uh, you know, I got my deco deals thing set up and all of a sudden Star Wars Outlaws went on a super sale for like twenty bucks or something. And I was like, I'm going to send it to finally. So I got it. Physical copy, dude. First time I bought a physical copy of anything, the disc was corrupt. I mean the physical, I buy physical all the time. First time I've ever bought physical and it didn't work.

01:07:43 luke: For which game?

01:07:45 Alex Stahlmann: Outlaws. So I bought Outlaws because it went on super

01:07:47 luke: Oh.

01:07:47 Alex Stahlmann: sale. Yeah,

01:07:48 luke: That's

01:07:48 Alex Stahlmann: but um, I

01:07:49 luke: weird as

01:07:49 Alex Stahlmann: know

01:07:50 luke: hell.

01:07:50 Alex Stahlmann: I'm kind of all over the place because what I'm driving towards here is I ended up returning it and getting another copy. But I put it in and I was playing it and I was like, dude, this is like Assassin's Creed Star Wars. This is kind of dope.

01:08:00 luke: What I heard was that it was really cool is like the environments, like there's like, like someone pointed to like a furry wall, which like. just like the textures and the level of

01:08:09 Alex Stahlmann: Yeah,

01:08:09 luke: care to like

01:08:10 Alex Stahlmann: it's

01:08:10 luke: that

01:08:10 Alex Stahlmann: pretty.

01:08:10 luke: kind of 70s techno aesthetic

01:08:14 Alex Stahlmann: Mm-hmm.

01:08:14 luke: or whatever they call it 70s space aesthetic is is cool so that interested me but Running around Baghdad, dude, in Assassin's Creed Mirage. Next time I see you, you should bring that over. If you don't plan on playing, I might give it a stab.

01:08:27 Alex Stahlmann: Theology bar for sure, it's beautiful.

01:08:28 luke: Yeah,

01:08:29 Alex Stahlmann: Um,

01:08:29 luke: I

01:08:29 Alex Stahlmann: it's

01:08:29 luke: don't care

01:08:30 Alex Stahlmann: a fun

01:08:30 luke: about

01:08:30 Alex Stahlmann: game

01:08:30 luke: the story

01:08:30 Alex Stahlmann: and it was

01:08:30 luke: either.

01:08:30 Alex Stahlmann: like,

01:08:31 luke: I just want to do a historical murder simulator.

01:08:34 Alex Stahlmann: fair enough. Dude, and uh, that's kind of what the Star Wars thing is too and I started playing that and then And then, uh, then the, then the playoffs started heating up a little bit. So I was like, all right, I guess I'm not doing

01:08:45 luke: Just

01:08:45 Alex Stahlmann: all

01:08:45 luke: back

01:08:45 Alex Stahlmann: my game.

01:08:46 luke: out,

01:08:46 Alex Stahlmann: I'll be playing

01:08:46 luke: dude.

01:08:46 Alex Stahlmann: some golf,

01:08:46 luke: I feel that. Slay

01:08:48 Alex Stahlmann: but,

01:08:48 luke: the spire.

01:08:49 Alex Stahlmann: uh, but yeah,

01:08:49 luke: Try her out.

01:08:50 Alex Stahlmann: God, I know slay, but that's,

01:08:52 luke: I

01:08:52 Alex Stahlmann: I'll

01:08:52 luke: want you

01:08:53 Alex Stahlmann: get

01:08:53 luke: to try

01:08:53 Alex Stahlmann: into the

01:08:53 luke: to,

01:08:53 Alex Stahlmann: rotation.

01:08:54 luke: yeah. I can't wait for the second one to come out.

01:08:57 Alex Stahlmann: Right on. Well, that's been a fun one, man. Fun to do the first low five top five. Solid list out of you. Solid side question. Thanks y'all for listening. Until

01:09:08 luke: Go, Luigi.

01:09:08 Alex Stahlmann: next time. Woohoo!

01:09:12 luke: Wahoo! That's

01:09:14 Alex Stahlmann: Peace.

01:09:14 luke: Mario, but you get the bit.

01:09:16 Alex Stahlmann: All right, cool.
