We finish chapter 10 of the Book of John. It's a few months later after Jesus's encounter with the religious leaders after He healed the man born blind. Jesus is back in Jerusalem during the Feast of Dedication. While Jesus is at the Jewish Temple, some of the religious leaders surround Him. They have stones ready to stone Jesus. They dare Jesus to say He is the Messiah so they can stone Him to death. Jesus tells them He has already told them that He is the Messiah, and Jesus goes a step further and tells them He gives eternal life to His believers. He also tells the religious leaders that He and God the Father are One.
