DARRIAN FEARON (host):  How's everyone doing? You know, it's your favorite podcast, Five of the Falcon. I'm your host, Darrian Fearon, but you already knew that. Hey, and today I'm joined by a special guest. Why don't you go ahead and introduce yourself, my friend?

[ Five With theme fades out ]

JACOB STEVENS:  It's Jacob Stevens. I'm a game design student in my sophomore year. I like to do a bunch of stuff with art. Make music sometimes. I draw a lot. 3D model. I try to do that, I  dabble in just about everything.

DARRIAN: Jack of all trades. You ain’t tell me about the music part. When'd you start that music?

JACOB: I've been doing it probably a little over a year now. I've been taking classes here. I got a whole set up. It's awesome.

DARRIAN: Grammy coming soon?

JACOB: Yeah yeah.

DARRIAN: All right, tell us about your career here at FSU, man. What type of stuff have you dabbled in and gotten yourself situated with?

JACOB:  I mean, other than gen eds, I got a lot of game classes. I was doing some, right now I got like an art class going on. It's pretty cool. We just built ⁓ 3D environments, made like a pirate ship. That was cool. I took some writing classes for like games, like writing like game stories and stuff, because it's a lot different from, ⁓ from like general writing. And then also like some programming classes and stuff. You need that.

DARRIAN: Yeah, of course. Yeah, I walked by the little game area that has all like the arcades and stuff there. Is that like stuff that you guys do, and then like everything in that area?

JACOB: Yeah, the little arcade right outside of the game labs is a – it's all student-made stuff.

DARRIAN: All student made.  You think of anything, any titles for anything that you've?

JACOB: Kind of like a million things.

DARRIAN: You got a million things at the moment. My boy flexing on y'all.

JACOB: I got like docs upon docs of ideas.

DARRIAN: Docs and Docs, bro. Can you give us a little insight into one?

JACOB: Yeah, so I mean this is a cool idea I had um, it's kind of like a rhythm RPG game.

DARRIAN:  Rhythm RPG game.

JACOB: Like it's very ambitious – but each like fight in the game, I guess, would have its own pattern and like a little song you'd have to learn.  AndI feel like something like that could be really cool.

DARRIAN: That’s fire. You thinking of a title?

JACOB: Right now I think it is World Flow.

DARRIAN: World Flow, aye man, y'all here first do not even try and steal my boy’s stuff, we will sue you guys okay, don't even try it.

World Flow, coming, what year?

JACOB:  I’ll try before like 2030.

DARRIAN: Before 2030.  2030?   I thought you might say like 2027. It's an ambitious project. All right, that's what's up.

JACOB:  No, no, no, because I need like a team for that.

DARRIAN: It's a, it's an ambitious project.  Facts, aye man, you need any sort of voice actors. You know where to find me. That's besides the point.

Why Fitchburg State like what's your what what's your sense of belonging here? What made you choose this place?

JACOB: Well, I heard they had a pretty good game design like – classes, which they do that I've been liking it so far a lot of good professors. And yeah, I mean, know, it's a good school. They got some good stuff here.

DARRIAN: Hey man, Fitchburg State made the cut y'all for the future world flow game designer, Jacob Stevens, man. And regarding your accomplishments in creating games and stuff, what do you think the grandest one you've had so far is? What's the thing that just tips the peak of the peak for Jacob Stevens? What's something that you just gonna put on your resume and have everyone be like, “Oh my gosh, he did that?”

JACOB: Right now, I got a lot of cool like designs I've done for like objects in games. It's probably the most I've done so far. I got a nice amount of stuff to show off. If I were to ever try to get a job or something.

DARRIAN: Is there any way for the people to access that sort of stuff?

JACOB: I do have an Instagram I haven't posted on in a while, but it's an art Instagram. StripeMan805. All one thing. No spaces.

DARRIAN:  StripeMan805, you already know. Check it out. Y'all gotta invest in it. So once all these projects start rolling out, y'all be the first ones to find out since you already invested in it. That's what's up, man.

JACOB: All right.

DARRIAN: And in what ways have you grown or transformed during your time?  From, you know, little baby Jacob Stevens at freshman year to grown man Jacob Stevens at sophomore year. In what ways have you grown, dude?

JACOB: I mean, in general, I've gotten a lot better. I feel lot more confident in it than I did like when I first started here, definitely.

I've gotten some great tips from teachers and stuff. The whole music thing, you know, that's all new past year or two. And also just like, you know, I've got a cool like group of friends too, like, you know, it's all nice. chilling, chilling. Got a place to live, you know. Can ask for more. Couldn’t ask for more.

DARRIAN:  I respect it, bro, I respect it! You keep it nice and tidy, bro. Besides, you know, your beard has also grown massively.

JACOB: Yeah, I'm due for haircut.

[ laughs ]

DARRIAN: It’s nice though, you know? It makes you look like a ⁓ dad of like three or something like that, which is good, man. Hey, man, thank you guys so much for tuning in. We gonna wrap this up soon. Again, I'm your host Darian Fearon. This has been my lovely guest, Jacob Stevens.
