Welcome to the Bestseller Secrets Podcast, where business owners learn how to use a book to grow their income and their impact. I'm your host, Rob Kosberg, and today I am going to talk to you about how I use my book. If you're watching on video right there behind me, publish Promote profit to earn over $3.1 million in the last 24 months alone and know primary that was not from royalties. I'm going to give you the five steps that we use on a continual basis every day, day in and day out, to attract clients into my business. Bestseller Publishing. First and foremost publishmophit is a Wall Street Journal best selling book. Obviously, I poured my heart and soul into it and tried to give the best content available for my potential clients. However, the 75,000 or so sales that we've gotten over the last four years of its existence is not where our income primarily comes from. There are five things that we do on a day in and a day out basis to continue to attract clients into bestseller publishing. Using my Wall Street Journal bestseller number one, I advertise my book on social media every single day. So, yes, I use paid advertising on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube. We're starting on TikTok and looking at a couple of other places, but primarily Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. And I spend money every single day to sell a digital copy of the book for $4.95. Now, step number two is where we go into earning a little bit more than $4.95. But it's important to understand, if someone purchased my book on Amazon, they would actually be spending anywhere from eleven to as much as $20 for Publish Promote Profit. Here's the issue, though. I don't get a single one of those email addresses or customer leads and information. What I get instead is the royalties, which is great, but what's more valuable is actually knowing who is purchasing my book. I want the customer rather than the customer going to Amazon. So we actually compete against Amazon by offering the book at a discount. Besides that, when we offer the book, we give a number of bonuses that add up to hundreds of dollars of additional bonuses just to entice that person to purchase the book, download it for $4.95. So that's step number one. We will often spend as much as $50 or $60 to make a 4.95 cent sale. And no, we don't make it up on volume because that's obviously a big spread. So what then do we do? Well, the first thing we do once somebody puts their information in, puts their credit card in purchases for $4.95, is we offer them additional courses that may be of interest. Perhaps they want the audiobook. Perhaps they want my six part series on how to launch and profit from their best selling book. Perhaps they want my Kickstarter course, where we taught how one of our clients used Kickstarter to earn over $50,000 before her book was ever done. Perhaps they want to be a part of Bestseller Publishing University, which gives them a year of coaching and live group calls with me and my team. And any one of these could range from as low as $17 all the way up to $297. So by offering these additional courses, which not everyone takes, but a percentage of people do, we now raise our average order value from only $4.95 all the way up to 50 60. And sometimes people will spend as much as $400 when they only initially were going to buy a 4.95 cent book. Now, that's step number two. From there, what do we do? Well, I am building my list and my following. One of the things that I talk about on a regular basis is traditional publishing always wants you to have a big platform in place, a large social media following, a large email list, before they will ever offer you some type of book deal. I tell people, look, you don't need that. In fact, you can use your book to grow your list and grow your following. And this is exactly what we've done. So we continue to build my list and build my following while people are actually buying the book. And in fact, we have over 100,000 people have joined our email list from these various promotions that we do and have been doing for year in and year out. So if you don't have any list, don't worry about it. If you don't have any following, don't worry about it. You can actually use your book to build that list and build that following. So now somebody's come in, they've seen my ad on social media, they've put their information in, they bought the book for $4.95. They have perhaps bought an additional course of interest, maybe Kickstarter or the Audiobook or something. They've been added to my list. They've joined my following. Now what do we do? Well, we know that many of those people have been wanting to write a book for a long time. So we ask them, would you like a free coaching call with an author development coach? On that coaching call, we even line out what we're going to do. We're going to talk to you about what your goals are. We're going to talk to you about whether or not you're stuck and can get unstuck with just some of the teachings in the book or the various courses of interest. And that's, of course, step number four. When they have that call, we are serving, we are giving, we are helping. And then step number five, some of those people we're going to actually offer and say, would you like us to do this for you? And our done for you services can range from as low as $3,000 all the way up to hundreds of thousands of dollars. If somebody wants a guaranteed Wall Street Journal or needs our enhanced ghost writing program or simply hands over their content for their podcast and says, create a book. So somebody that might start as just a 4.95 cent purchaser of a book can end up spending 50, 6100 thousand dollars with us. Because they say, I've been wanting to write a book for a long time. I'm tired of waiting. Will you do it for me? Now, obviously, that's not everybody, but we don't need it to be everybody. That might only be two, three, four, 5% of the people that actually buy, but that's fine because I get to serve all these people, tens of thousands of them, who have purchased and downloaded my book by just having great content at a discount. And then there are those, that small percentage that raise their hand and say, you know what, Rob, I see that you're the expert. I trust you. I like the way that you've written. I like what you say.
