And hey, I am glad you're here. Please like and subscribe so that this gets out to more people. Today we're going to talk about the biblical way to pray that nobody told you about. Now, we are going to cover the biblical way to pray according to the scriptures. And you might think that, oh, this is mundane. I already know how to pray. But you've got to listen to this because this is something that I was taught from a child, from when I first went to church, and it really, really stayed with me. So this is important. And this is important to understand because so many times in this Christian world and these Christian streets out there, as somebody I know says, it's not safe. And people have different ideas about prayer. There are so many facets to prayer. But today we're going to focus in on a couple of things that are really important. If you stick with me after we get through the biblical understanding, I'm going to give you a definition of prayer that's going to help you so much in your daily life, you won't even believe it. Okay? So let's start by learning the scriptural way that Jesus taught his disciples to pray. And these are the actual like scriptures that teach us to pray how we should address the Father, how we should pray when we speak to him. This is very important because we want our prayers to be answered and we want to follow what Jesus said to do. So, first of all, Jesus himself taught us to pray to the Father. You must understand how important this is, because the Father is the one to whom Jesus intercedes for us and is standing before the Father, interceding before us for us. And he says, You can come boldly to the throne of grace because of Jesus' blood and work on the cross. All right? Jesus directly instructed his followers to pray to the Father. If you look in Matthew 6, 9, you will find it says, Pray like this, our Father in heaven, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Now you know this is the Lord's prayer, but we're going to take that verse and just help you understand that Jesus said, Pray like this, our Father who art in heaven, and then continue on with your prayer. Okay. In that day, it says, You will ask nothing of me. So we don't pray directly to Jesus, although we can, but in this instance, Jesus says, in that day, meaning after the resurrection, when the fulfillment of being you can receive from Jesus and have a personal relationship with him, you can talk to Jesus all you want. There's nothing wrong with it. But when you pray, when you you're saying prayers and you're asking God, the Father, for an answer or for a specific thing, you want to pray to the Father. Now God hears all prayers, but this is the biblical way. In John 16, 23, it says, In that day you will ask nothing of me, but whatever you ask of the Father, in my name, he will give it to you. So you see, there's power and authority in praying in the name of Jesus to the Father. So this is a clear pattern that Jesus taught his disciples. Number two, I talked about this briefly in point one, but I want to want you to understand that Jesus is the mediator between God and us, and between us, okay? He's the mediator between the two of us. And because of sin, humanity cannot approach God directly on his own. But Jesus bridges that gap, okay? For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, and that man is Christ Jesus. This is 1 Timothy 2, 5. So for through him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit. Here again we see the Trinity, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit acting together. So we pray because that Jesus is the mediator and because his name holds weight with the Father when we're in consecrated prayer or sincere prayer or just talking in prayer, just talking to God, because, and we're gonna get into that, but through him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit who is the Holy Spirit, and that's Ephesians 2.18. We come to the Father through Jesus, and just as a bonus to this, because Jesus said what about himself? I am the way, the truth, and the life, and no one comes to the Father but by me, meaning Jesus. So that just solidifies this point and helps us understand that Jesus is the mediator, and by praying in his name to God the Father, we have access and he hears our prayers. Now, Jesus gave us authority, as we've discussed already, to use his name. Praying in the name of Jesus just isn't a phrase, it's operating under his authority because when we walk into relationship with Jesus and we walk with him every day, it says we walk with him, we have fellowship one with another. Come into the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus covers us and cleanses us from all sin, which allows us to come before the Father with boldness, because now we are cleansed. Our sin doesn't get in the way. Okay. So whatever you it says in John 14, 13, and 14, it says, Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do. So that means that through the Father, through asking the Father in Jesus' name, Jesus will perform that in your life through the Holy Spirit. So if you ask in my name, you will receive John 16, 24. So his name carries authority, access, and alignment with his will. Okay, this is very important. Now, Jesus is our high priest who gives us bold access. Okay, as I said, you can become you can come boldly to the throne of grace. All right, because Christ's sacrifice, we can approach God confidently. That means boldly, as I said. Let us then have confidence to draw near to the throne of grace, Hebrews 4, 14 through 16. We have confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus, Hebrews 10, 19. We don't come on our own merit, we come because of the finished work of the cross. Now, again, I'm gonna give you a definition of prayer at the end of here. If you like what you're hearing so far, don't forget to like and subscribe. And just note we are at the end going to talk about a definition of prayer that I had from a child that helped me make it through all of this because this is kind of theological, this is right doctrine, this is scripture, this is how we pray in the biblical way, okay, to the father in the name of Jesus, and then we receive through the Holy Spirit. Okay, praying this way glorifies the Father, all right, which is very important through the Son because everything we do is through Jesus. The order reflects God's design and brings him glory so that the father may be glorified in the son. John 14, 13. Prayer is not a request, okay, but it can be, and I'll show you that in a minute. It's about honoring God's relationship structure. Okay, we have God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit. We speak to God the Father through God the Son in his name, and we receive from the Holy Spirit. This is a simple summary, and as I just went through that, that's exactly what we do. Now, I also want to bring to you this definition that I told you about that I received from a child. Okay. I want you to know that if you're new to prayer and you're listening to this video, it's very important that you get these basics down. It's kind of like the ball player that's out on the field. He has to learn the basics, okay? When he stands out there and he's ready for the ball to be hit, he has to be on his toes and ready for it to come in. He has to be ready in the outfield, he has to have his head up and be looking and listening for the crack of the bat and the ball maybe coming towards him. You have to have all these basics down, the swing of the bat and how to properly turn your hands over. All these things that I just did in this and use this analogy, okay, that's very important. But this definition of prayer is basically this: you are in a relationship with Jesus Christ. That relationship makes you go to heaven because it is what Jesus requires. Being born again means you confess with your mouth and believe with your heart that God raised him from the dead. Now that is a pattern of prayer. You pray your salvation prayer. When you come to the Father, you come to him, you believe in your heart, and you confess with your mouth. Prayer is no different when you come to pray for things, you come to God because you believe that he will do what he said he would do, and you confess with your mouth the prayer that you are praying, and you bring it forth. Now, the question is the definition here is you are speaking to God. And guess what? God speaks to you because here's what goes on prayer is two-way, this is the definition, two-way communication with the Father in heaven through Jesus in the power of the Holy Spirit. You only have to remember that. God hears your external prayers when you pray outwardly with your mouth and you speak them, okay? Anything you want to say to God, there's nothing that is off limits. God is a big God, He's an infinite God that exists out of time, space, and matter. And He can handle whatever you bring His way. So if you are mad about something, if you're upset about something, if you don't like how things are going, you can bring that before Him and you can tell Him exactly how you feel. But you need to do it as we talked about the biblical pattern and use the name of Jesus in the authority and walk in that. Now, little caveat to that: God hears both external prayer and internal prayer. I do not know how many times I have prayed internally and had God answer my prayer. I just said something like, God, I really don't like this situation. Please change this. And in my heart, I couldn't speak out loud, but inside, inside I was praying. See, God is an infinite God. He's everywhere, He's omnipresent, He's all powerful, and He knows your heart. But He wants you to share your heart with Him because of that relationship. Now, if you can't open your mouth in a public setting to share your heart, and internally you're praying to God, there is nothing wrong with that. There is no scripture in the Bible that tells you you can't pray like that. And this is what prayer truly, truly the bottom where the rubber meets the road is because you're in relationship with the Father through the Son in the Holy Spirit. And you can pray directly to God from your inside and your outside. And that has helped me and carried me through so many battles, so many things, I can't even begin to tell you. Now, I want to give you one example, and this is one example of prayer, and I want to call it two-way conversation. Okay. Now, you might not be at this point in your walk, and I don't want you to feel that way. I don't want you to feel like, oh, you know, this guy here, he can he hears God and all this stuff. Now, wait a minute. You hear God too, because you're his sheep, right? You know Jesus as your savior, and the Bible says, My sheep hear my voice, and they know my voice, and they will not follow a stranger's voice. So therefore, Jesus speaks to all his children, he even speaks to those who aren't his children sometimes. They give it and they hear it and they do it, and they don't even realize that they're hearing God. But in our case, as Christians, as believers, as born-again, spirit-filled Christian believers, we hear the voice of God when we pray. We should expect a reply. We should respect, we should expect an answer. We should expect these things to come to us. Okay. So one time I was um going to, I had to take my son to the hospital. He was this is normal. He was going for his therapy. And as I pulled up in the valet section, there was this woman in front of me, and she was taking a terribly long time. And I got kind of frustrated and agitated. And I said, Lord, you know, I was kind of praying in my heart. I wasn't speaking out loud. I just was saying in my heart, oh Lord, you know, I gotta get to my appointment, and this woman won't get out of my way. I mean, she's taking a good old time, and uh and I was going on and on and kind of complaining, and I was kind of angry, and I heard the voice of the Holy Spirit say, I don't want you to be angry with this woman because I want you to pray for her. And I said, Lord, you know I have to get to my appointment. I said, I won't think I'm gonna have time to pray for her. So I I'll tell you what, Lord, if this is what you want, and it's just you, you set it up for me. Because see, you gotta test, you gotta test the spirits, and so I wanted to know. I was pretty sure it was God. I I know his voice, I've been listening to God for a long time. So I but I still I always you know dip my foot in the water, you know, and I says to Jesus, I said, Okay, I said, if you want me to pray for this person, then I'm gonna just hang on, and I and now you set me up. You you you set it up, Lord. You you put her in my path so that I can pray for her, okay? All right, now she finally moved. We got in, we got our appointment, we made it on time, thank you, Jesus. So we get up to this appointment, right? And I said, after we got through with everything, I'm bringing my son back out from his appointment. Now, our appointment took about two hours, okay, because my son's therapy procedure took about two hours. And we came back downstairs to get our car. Now, there's a little lobby area where you walk into to wait for your vehicle. So I came out, I checked out, I got my bellet ticket, and I pulled up into that little area where you wait for your vehicle. And guess who walks up right next to me? This woman. Now I had gotten a good look at her because she was agitating me a bit more. I'm like, I'm looking at it all, like, hey, you're there. And I said, I looked at her and I go, and I thought to myself, I just looked there and I said, God, you set me up. So I turned to the lady and I said, Hey, how are you doing? You know, and I got out of the conversation with her, and I basically told her, I said, Hey, I want to tell you the story. And I kind of told her what happened. I said, God wants me to pray for you. Would you be open to that? And she's like, Yes. And so, in the middle of that little waiting area, right there with my son, I'm holding a wheelchair, he's in the wheelchair, and I'm right next to her. I obeyed the Lord and I prayed for her healing, and I'm not sure if she got healed or whatever, but the point was I was obedient to what he says. So the last caveat in all of this is prayer is two-way communication. You should expect to hear back. And when you do, and God tells you to do something, do it. Be obedient, and you'll be blessed. So, I want you to understand how important it is to have a simple, straightforward definition of prayer, and yet follow the scriptures on how you're supposed to pray is according to God's word and the way Jesus taught his disciples. And if you do these things, you're gonna see your prayers answered every single day, whether you pray them out of your mouth or out of your heart. I really hope you've enjoyed this, and I would like to pray with you right now. Now, here's one more thing that you this is just a little added bonus, okay? If you pray with me today now, I'm gonna lead you in a prayer. There is nothing wrong with being led in a prayer. If you trust or if you know the person who is praying, and you know me through this video, you've heard what I've said, and we're gonna pray properly, like we just did, and we're gonna just pray and ask God to help us get this prayer down, this right way of praying. And when I say right way, I mean we're gonna help him have him help us pray according to the scriptures. So if you haven't been following this, maybe you've been in a church where they taught you to pray out of a book, and there's nothing wrong with written prayers, but we really need to make sure that you get into the relationship that you have with the Father through the Son in the power of the Holy Spirit. So I want you to pray with me this prayer to ask God to bring this understanding, this revelation, and this teaching, and make it strong in you so that you can walk into it. Watch the video again if you want, and you can go through all the scriptures, write them down, look them up, and all that. Okay, let's pray. Father, in the name of Jesus, just like we said, by the power of the Holy Spirit, I ask you to uh teach me, train me, guide me, direct me, help me to pray as you would have me pray for whatever my needs are, according to your scriptures. And I know if I confess with my mouth and believe with my heart that which I'm saying according to the will that you laid out in your scriptures, which is your will, I know that I will have the petitions of my heart. And I thank you, Lord, for the scripture, I thank you, Father, for your promises, and I stand on them and I believe them, and I receive that right now, Lord. In the name of Jesus, we pray according to how you taught your disciples to pray. Amen. Check out some of my other videos, and also I've written a book that will help you greatly.
