hey guys welcome back to the Beyond hope
0:12
project podcast my name is Jason Tharp I
0:15
am the champion of Hope and that is our
0:18
focus of this podcast is to have an
0:20
impact on you we're going to present
0:21
some ideas here things that I've used in
0:23
my own personal life that have helped me
0:25
overcome things like being obese being a
0:29
self-hatred uh grade four brain cancer
0:32
and still being a Survivor all those
0:34
things that I've been able to uncover
0:35
through my of my story through uh this
0:37
process of Hope um you can take it or
0:39
leave it how you choose to use it is
0:41
totally up to you but I do encourage you
0:43
to take in its information see how it
0:45
applies to your life and if it does add
0:47
a little value to you just share it let
0:49
everybody know that what's going on with
0:50
it and all that good stuff like that
0:53
what I want to address in this episode
0:55
is this idea of trying to cl to climb
0:57
the ladder of self Evolution and how
1:03
often what we're doing is we're climbing
1:04
with a string tied to ourselves that an
1:06
old version of us is pulling on and each
1:09
rung that we try to climb up this ladder
1:11
ends up feeling like we're pulling
1:13
ourselves back because there's some
1:15
things that are in our story that we
1:17
have left
1:18
unaddressed a lot of times we think that
1:20
if we can cut things off or we can just
1:22
avoid these things that that solv the
1:24
problem but the truth is what that
1:25
really does is it just adds a temporary
1:27
fix to what is really the root of the
1:31
cause of the issue and I have some ideas
1:33
that I would like to share through this
1:35
process that I've been able to cover
1:37
Through My Own Story that I hope that uh
1:39
you can use so let's just Dive Right In
1:41
so one of the first things is it's a
1:43
crazy Balancing Act to go from a future
1:46
version that you want to be and the past
1:49
version because what happens is you have
1:50
to unlearn habits that have gotten you
1:52
to where you are right now and a lot of
1:54
times those habits when we want to
1:56
especially evolve and we are tired of
1:59
maybe things not going our way those
2:01
habits are so ingrained with us that we
2:03
look at any sort of future thing as that
2:06
person as that lens so we have the habit
2:09
of being somebody that says I can't do
2:11
this thing but instead what we need to
2:13
adopt is a habit of well if maybe I
2:16
can't do it right now how can I do it
2:17
and taking those actions to step towards
2:19
that little bit I think the balance
2:21
comes in between being nice enough to
2:23
yourself to say like you know I'm going
2:24
to try this but I might not get it right
2:26
or being also brave enough to celebrate
2:29
when things do go right because you
2:31
might be somebody like me that was a big
2:33
huge
2:43
self-help is like just stepping up and
2:46
being brave like stepping up to the
2:49
plate so to speak where you're like I'm
2:51
going I'm willing to swing and maybe
2:53
miss this time because maybe next time
2:56
I'm going to actually hit something
2:57
right and I'm going to hit the ball and
2:58
it's going to go out of the park and I'm
2:59
going to have a home run for myself and
3:01
and things are really going to start to
3:02
change but if we never just just face
3:06
The Bravery of stepping up and admitting
3:09
that we need to change something about
3:10
ourselves nothing will ever change what
3:13
we we do a lot of times I think is we
3:15
look over our shoulder walking forward
3:18
we're looking over our shoulder
3:19
everything that we've been through been
3:22
as and don't want to be anymore but
3:26
walking towards a future that we're
3:28
trying to build with all of the
3:30
knowledge that is things that are behind
3:32
us versus actually looking at what were
3:34
the lessons from those how I can apply
3:35
them to this moment and at the same time
3:38
let's not shoot too far ahead into the
3:40
future and try to build a reality that
3:43
um you're just not ready for and a lot
3:45
of times I think that's where people
3:46
feel this this feeling of being stuck
3:49
it's that we're living way in the past
3:52
and we're living way into the future
3:55
that you're missing like what the power
3:56
of right now can do for you as you're
3:59
climbing and sometimes it's just as
4:01
simple as taking a pause like what
4:02
lessons trying to you know happen here
4:05
what what is all this stuff that's
4:06
happening what can I actually learn from
4:08
this and how can I apply it and this is
4:11
where hope comes into play you know
4:13
using hope as a step because you know
4:15
hope as we Define it you know in normal
4:19
terms I think we all can say hope and
4:20
everybody gets it but how we Define it
4:22
here on Beyond hope project is it's a
4:24
starting point it's a impact point and
4:27
then it's also the Catal it'll help you
4:30
find your path back when you feel like
4:32
hope is gone because ultimately what's
4:34
going to happen is you're going to have
4:35
to take a step forward hope will do
4:36
nothing for you if you don't move um
4:39
it's a great way to motivate you to step
4:41
into whatever it might be that you're
4:44
trying to to do but here's the catch you
4:47
might want to go out and let's say um
4:49
write books you're going to write your
4:51
first one and I can tell you right now
4:52
it's not going to be good um unless
4:54
you're lucky and you just hit a home run
4:56
out of the gate but most of the time
4:57
it's not going to be good and that hope
5:00
though in there wasn't you failing what
5:02
what actually was was you trying and
5:04
then your next one's get a little better
5:05
and your next one's getting a little
5:06
better the problem is is that I think
5:08
what we do is we'll start and then we'll
5:10
stop and we'll think that well that one
5:12
time it didn't work so therefore it must
5:14
not be what it's supposed to be and this
5:17
is where hope service again because at
5:20
some point if you pay attention what'll
5:22
happen is you might be taking a shower
5:24
you might be driving in the car in there
5:25
Quiet Moments the idea will pop up in
5:27
your head of what you could have done
5:29
different in that that book let's just
5:31
keep using that example that would have
5:33
made it better and then you'll revisit
5:35
it again and that's finding your path
5:37
back on there and it's a series of these
5:39
things as you start to climb this ladder
5:41
the problem is if we're anchoring
5:42
ourselves in a past belief system that
5:44
is no longer serving us what we're
5:46
actually doing is undoing everything
5:47
that forward progress we're doing and we
5:49
wonder why we're feeling unfulfilled and
5:51
we're feeling stuck and not able to uh
5:56
see this and you know along the way what
5:58
we have to do is embrace the change of
6:00
the whole thing like be cool with things
6:02
changing things evolving not always
6:04
staying the same as we start to open up
6:08
the idea of us being this new version
6:13
you have to realize that you're going to
6:15
change people around you are going to
6:18
change you might have people that seem
6:20
super close say stuff to you that's
6:21
going to really be like how could they
6:23
say that to me it's got nothing to do
6:26
with you and everything to do with them
6:29
because what happens is is when you you
6:30
start to change you're not only changing
6:33
your world you're changing the world of
6:34
other people around you and if somebody
6:36
is around you a lot and they know you
6:40
this certain way it is hard for them
6:43
because they are wrapped up in their own
6:44
climate of their ladder for them to see
6:47
what their life looks like with you as
6:49
that version rather than you just moving
6:52
forward a lot of times what we'll do is
6:53
we'll just completely stop what we're
6:55
doing for me it was a big one was
6:57
uprooting I would I would start and I
6:58
would lay out all these ideas and then I
7:00
felt like um the change would happen and
7:05
because it was outside of my realm of
7:07
being able to think about it in that way
7:09
I would completely start going on
7:11
uprooting pulling all the the things
7:13
that were sprouting up because it felt
7:15
like it wasn't what it was supposed to
7:16
be instead of embracing the fact that
7:18
like no this is just my new normal like
7:20
this just happens to be what I'm doing
7:22
now and that was um a huge huge eye
7:26
opening thing for me especially as it
7:28
came through going through
7:29
uh the brain cancer stuff and and
7:31
figuring out that those types of things
7:33
it was this idea of it's possible this
7:36
is was the hope it is possible because
7:39
it's out there there was plenty of
7:40
information saying it was possible for
7:42
somebody to get past this thing and have
7:45
longevity um just because somebody else
7:47
was telling me one thing didn't mean
7:49
that that had to be my future um but it
7:52
was the idea that if I want to be that
7:55
I'm going to have to learn how to
7:57
embrace change I'm G to have to
7:59
completely change everything that I'm
8:01
doing and then start to accept that
8:04
along that way I'm going to be changing
8:06
a lot and that means that there's going
8:08
to be people that I lose along the way
8:11
and those people that you lose along the
8:12
way I didn't cut them out it's just
8:15
because I came became complete with it I
8:17
came complete with the idea that like
8:20
this is just where the story ends in
8:22
this part but now we're writing the new
8:24
part and that is where like you know
8:27
having love for yourself and just
8:30
understanding that there is infinite
8:32
possibilities in your life um so many
8:36
people will want to tell you what you
8:38
can and can't accomplish but the problem
8:41
is is that that's coming from their
8:43
perspective it's coming from all of
8:46
their views their all of their beliefs
8:47
all of their things that they've been
8:49
through in life but it's not coming from
8:51
the most important person in your story
8:54
which is you you know when you walk up
8:57
to this ladder of evolution it looks
9:00
bright and shiny and full of Hope but
9:03
the truth is is as you start to climb
9:05
it's going to start to get pretty dark
9:07
and I think those dark moments what they
9:09
actually are is the old version of us
9:13
saying goodbye and it's hard
9:16
to let go of that because it's unknown
9:21
and it's also fear and in that
9:24
fear stories start you start to tell
9:28
yourself stories that maybe I'm not
9:30
supposed to have this or maybe that's
9:33
reserved for other people or you know
9:37
maybe they're right I am going to not be
9:38
here anymore and you start to let
9:41
entertain things that you know isn't
9:44
true but if you aren't careful enough
9:46
what you're going to find is that you
9:47
will make those things true for you
9:50
whether you like it or not see we have
9:52
the ability to shape our reality but if
9:55
we love oursel to do the hard work to
9:57
understand that everything that is in
9:59
you that you are afraid of is typically
10:03
hiding all the things that will bring
10:05
you everything you're looking for it's
10:08
really hard to see that when you're
10:12
constantly tethering yourself to a past
10:15
that is no longer
10:16
real and if you can learn how to let go
10:19
of that and understand that each climb
10:23
up is a new version of you saying
10:26
hello not a version of you saying you
10:29
don't
10:30
deserve I think what you'll start to see
10:32
is that this Evolution brings on a whole
10:35
flood of things into your life that one
10:38
day you're going to look at and go like
10:39
I don't know how I got there and more
10:40
importantly you're going to find that
10:41
there were so many people watching that
10:43
you thought you didn't matter but
10:46
they've been watching and been rooting
10:47
you on and are going to celebrate you
10:51
and they're going to make you feel more
10:53
welcome and loved than you ever thought
10:56
but it all starts with you the easiest
10:58
way to get over this stuff is to find
11:00
the closest mirror look at it stop
11:03
blaming everybody else for the reason
11:05
why you're climb up your ladder so hard
11:07
and just look yourself in the eyes and
11:09
realize that like you're the person to
11:11
blame all the stuff that we're assigning
11:14
things to are
11:16
self-inflicted you can change in an
11:19
instant if you start to understand that
11:21
like just because everybody else says
11:23
all this stuff that doesn't mean it has
11:24
to be me but through hope figuring out a
11:28
starting point going out and trying it
11:31
and then when you ultimately something
11:33
happens and you have to figure out a way
11:35
back loving yourself enough to try again
11:39
and be open to the idea that there may
11:42
be more to it than you think and what
11:45
your idea of what an amazing moment
11:49
would
11:50
be might only be the tip of the iceburg
11:53
so why limit yourself
11:55
to what infinite possibil ilities there
11:59
are to go down to like just a few I
12:02
think uh if you start to embrace that
12:04
you'll find that life is waiting for you
12:08
and there are so many people waiting for
12:10
you and you are a Creator and able to do
12:14
things that are going to leave other
12:16
people in and they're going to wonder
12:18
how you got there and even some of them
12:21
are going to regret the fact that
12:22
they're no longer a part of it and
12:24
that's not called Revenge that's just
12:26
calling being you and that's the most
12:29
important part so guys uh that's what I
12:32
got on that that idea for you today um I
12:34
hope that this idea of what hope can be
12:37
and how it can serve you how loving
12:40
yourself uh is so important I know it's
12:43
cheesy and all that crap like that and
12:46
people will wear t-shirts and all this
12:48
junk and I'm sure I don't even know what
12:50
one I have on I probably got one on I
12:51
say it too
12:53
but what you're projecting out in the
12:55
world is what you get back you know so
12:57
hope and being consistent with it and
12:59
just keep showing up for yourself and
13:01
what will happen and eventually you'll
13:02
feel empowered and that's how we start
13:04
to win this game that's how we start to
13:06
create the life that we want instead of
13:08
avoiding all this stuff making up
13:10
stories and blaming everybody else for
13:11
all those things and if we could start
13:13
to do that this is how you start to turn
13:16
what others will say in imp possible
13:18
into possible in your world and it's
13:21
just through that process so if you got
13:23
something out of this do me a favor
13:24
share it with somebody let somebody else
13:26
know it exist um we're Tor around this
13:29
idea of doing a question and answer
13:31
stuff you know uh if you could do me a
13:32
favor like send some messages back uh
13:35
make some comments like what kind of
13:36
things would you like to hear about um
13:38
is this a good idea is a bad idea like I
13:39
think the easiest way to figure that out
13:41
is just ask you um so if you're if
13:43
you're somebody that listens to this a
13:44
lot um please just shoot us a message um
13:48
let me know what you think beyondo
13:49
pro.com it's pretty simple um you know
13:53
or my name I I don't I couldn't make it
13:55
any easier um I tried but I was as easy
13:57
as I get um but if you could do me a
14:00
favor and just share this let people
14:01
know that it exist this is how we're
14:03
going to start this hope Revolution that
14:05
will start to help people find that they
14:07
aren't alone and that you can do things
14:09
that other people think that you can't
14:12
um and you're not crazy um you're doing
14:14
a good job of Being Human and sometimes
14:16
uh it's just hard and I'm sorry that you
14:18
go through hard times but uh it's normal
14:21
there's nothing wrong with you hope this
14:23
helps all
14:27
right
14:33
