0:10
hey guys welcome back to the Beyond hope
0:12
project podcast my name is Jason Tharp I
0:15
am your resident champion of Hope here
0:18
to deliver another impactful podcast to
0:21
you that will hopefully resonate with
0:24
you and provide you with that spark to
0:25
get started uh or maybe you're out on
0:28
this path and you feel like you might
0:30
have lost your way maybe some of the
0:32
words in here will help guide you back
0:33
to there and that is the goal of this
0:35
podcast before we dive too far in
0:37
there's a couple things I want to remind
0:38
you of we have a beyondo project
0:40
newsletter it's at Beyond hop
0:41
project.com the newsletter link you can
0:45
click on it scroll on the bottom sign up
0:46
uh it's a guaranteed under two minutes
0:48
read we don't sell you anything it's
0:49
just free stuff I draw a weekly comic in
0:52
there too that you can save to your
0:53
phone or whatever uh just to little
0:56
spark a little ideas for you as you
0:58
start to navigate through this crazy
1:00
thing called life and the other part is
1:02
uh need your help help spreading the
1:03
love and the uh hope so you're you're
1:07
listening to this right now take a
1:09
second and hit those five stars share it
1:12
let people know about it um tag friends
1:16
like any way that you can help spread
1:18
this word I would really appreciate it
1:20
because we have a huge Mission here
1:22
which is to reach lots of people with uh
1:23
hope and show them that what's they may
1:26
predict as impossible in their life is
1:29
quite
1:31
possible and that's where I want to
1:32
start out this this podcast with today
1:35
is this idea that what power we actually
1:37
hold in somebody else's story um and
1:40
this is probably going to be more
1:42
directed towards uh leaders people in a
1:45
leadership role maybe you're a coach
1:46
maybe you're a a team manager or uh just
1:50
a thought leader but also at the same
1:52
time you're also a leader of yourself so
1:54
in a lot of ways this is a multifaceted
1:57
and what I'm hoping to be able to
1:58
encapsulate this all into is a way way
2:00
for you to look at it and how it would
2:03
affect you and help you adopt it in sort
2:06
of way into your life and that's the
2:08
main goal of this this one in
2:10
particular so one thing I've been
2:13
thinking about a lot lately is the role
2:17
the story that is told about me from
2:20
other people or the story that other
2:22
people that have interacted through my
2:24
life um what they what part what role
2:28
they play I guess I should say
2:30
because I think a lot of times what we
2:31
don't realize is that we can either be a
2:34
part of somebody's story that turns into
2:35
something really special because we were
2:37
part of it or we can be the Catalyst for
2:41
somebody's story to Blossom because we
2:44
were part of it not in a good way and I
2:48
think that what we we tend to do is we
2:52
come
2:53
into interactions with others especially
2:56
as a leader with a limiting belief of
2:59
stuff
3:00
and what I want to call this on to is
3:02
kind of like what how the the first
3:04
doctor I dealt with dealt with
3:06
diagnosing me they had no clue who I was
3:10
they knew zero about my background they
3:12
knew zero about what I've overcome they
3:14
knew zero about who I was but they knew
3:17
a lot about one subject which is what
3:19
they deal with every day that's not the
3:21
discount that they don't know what
3:22
they're talking about but there's a huge
3:24
factor that Miss it's missing in that
3:27
it's perspective it's being able to take
3:29
yourself out and look in somebody else's
3:30
shoes especially when you're dropping
3:32
some sort of thing or you are in a
3:34
position that you really hold a lot of
3:37
weight in somebody's future decisions
3:40
because maybe they're turning to you
3:41
because you're an expert in something or
3:42
they're coming to you because you they
3:44
perceive you as the gatekeeper to their
3:46
dreams which by the way you're not so if
3:49
you're tripping on yourself thinking
3:50
that you're somehow are some sort of
3:52
Savior for someone you're not you're not
3:54
a guru you're just a human going through
3:56
experiences and your experiences just
3:58
happen to be further along than the
4:00
people that are looking to you for
4:03
guidance but what you have is the
4:05
ability to affect their story to take
4:08
the moment to sit down and listen to
4:10
this person and to hear what they're
4:13
actually trying to do use your expertise
4:16
to help them get to where they want to
4:18
go don't give them some sort of false
4:20
belief or keep dangling carrots in front
4:22
of their face telling them that if we
4:23
just get to this next thing then that
4:25
will be the parts also don't kick their
4:28
knees out to tell them that they can't
4:29
do something or that they don't know how
4:31
to do it because you can't think in a
4:34
way that they do sometimes what you feel
4:37
is normal is completely weird to
4:38
somebody else and what is weird to you
4:40
is completely normal to somebody else
4:43
but what you have is information that
4:45
could help them get to where they want
4:46
to go and if you would help them you
4:48
would actually learn something from them
4:49
in return that would also help you along
4:53
your journey because the thing is is
4:55
we're all intersecting stories we're all
4:58
living in each other's dreams these
5:01
realities that we're building as we
5:02
start to go through life are dictated
5:04
through us through our perceptions of
5:06
what we see in the world if you want to
5:08
change the way that you see the world
5:09
then change the things you
5:11
do if you want to stay the same stay the
5:14
same nobody's really going to care
5:16
either way but don't spend so much time
5:19
thinking that you hold the power over
5:21
everybody else's worlds because all that
5:24
happens is is we're just crisscrossing
5:26
story
5:27
lines what is happening your dream is
5:30
different than mine but we might
5:32
interact for a second and I can help add
5:34
to your dream by a word or a look or a
5:37
glance or simply by just saying hi
5:40
because for so many of us we're going
5:41
through life invisible too afraid to ask
5:43
for help we'll put her head down in the
5:46
sand because it's much easier if they
5:47
can't see me for me then to not put
5:50
myself out there because that's
5:52
scary because I think I can get overcome
5:55
this stuff but I'm too afraid to tell
5:56
their people what I want to do because
5:58
what if I don't then they're going to
5:59
judge me and they're going to worry that
6:03
if they associate with me that they
6:05
somehow look
6:07
bad and I think so many of us go through
6:09
life this way thinking that somebody is
6:13
holding the key we look for those blame
6:15
points to say that this this didn't
6:17
happen because of that this or the other
6:19
when the truth is is if you ever want to
6:21
figure out who's the one to blame just
6:23
go find the near or
6:25
smear stop thinking that somebody that
6:27
is working with you or for you or as
6:29
part of your group is somehow not valid
6:33
enough for you to show them
6:36
hope and this goes for yourself too it
6:38
goes for the idea that you can give
6:40
yourself the hope that you can actually
6:42
make it to the other side of this
6:44
problem because you figured out a path
6:48
instead of thinking that your path is
6:50
the only way and everything that you
6:53
have in your head is the only
6:55
way be open to the fact that somebody
6:58
you just met might actually know more
7:00
than you because what they're bringing
7:02
to the table is themselves you could be
7:05
part of this great story you know the
7:07
first doctor that told me I would be
7:09
dead in seven months will never be part
7:12
of my story they will always be the
7:15
Catalyst that got me started now that's
7:18
not to say that that's a bad thing and I
7:20
certainly think that I have un willingly
7:24
or or willingly or you know thinking I
7:27
was doing the right thing played that
7:29
exact same role in other people's
7:31
worlds but most of the time it was
7:34
because my living belief was so small
7:36
that I could not see a different way my
7:38
intentions weren't to hurt somebody any
7:40
more than I think that maybe that
7:42
doctor's intentions weren't to hurt
7:44
me but what they did not do is they
7:47
didn't take a second to realize that the
7:49
power that they hold in my story when I
7:53
was struggling to figure a way out of
7:55
this big dark cave and figure out how to
7:57
be somebody that survives us stuff they
8:00
had the ability to hand me a torch that
8:02
would have lit up the path for me to
8:04
step forward but instead what they did
8:07
was they threw a boulder in it just
8:09
because they took all their
8:11
assumptions that was all past
8:14
experiences and never bothered to ask
8:16
simple questions like what can I do how
8:18
can I be part of this person's thing
8:20
maybe I might actually learn something
8:22
from this patient now I have these great
8:24
doctors around me who we have these
8:26
great conversations about life and how
8:28
you can change certain things how
8:30
reality might change as we start to see
8:32
what we can believe and how our
8:34
confidence grows when we start to look
8:36
to a different way other than the way
8:38
that we draw limits
8:40
on but at the end of the day all they
8:43
are
8:44
co-pilots we are the only ones steering
8:47
this ship yes there are many other
8:49
people steering ships around us but as
8:51
we crisscross all we're doing is
8:52
Criss-Cross in somebody else's
8:56
dream we can choose to make some of
8:58
their dreams are reality that's up to us
9:01
or we can just keep
9:02
moving you know I think that so often we
9:05
think that we're alone but the truth is
9:08
as a whole we are much stronger if we
9:11
start to understand that our worlds
9:13
matter that you matter that everybody
9:17
around us is doing their best to try to
9:19
survive and if we start to realize that
9:23
we have a lot of power in helping
9:25
somebody else shape that
9:27
story you'll find that you will find a
9:31
path for you that will continue to
9:34
unfold even when you're failing even
9:36
when you feel like you lost it it'll
9:38
keep showing up for you because that's
9:40
what you're meant to do is be a positive
9:43
force in this world you're a Creator the
9:46
world that you want to create is waiting
9:48
for you to create it it's just up to you
9:50
when you want to begin so as you start
9:53
sharing your story and being a leader
9:55
for not only yourself but for others
9:59
understand that self leadership isn't
10:00
about just you it's about how your
10:03
actions actually have an effect on
10:06
others around you so learn how to lead
10:08
yourself better and you'll be amazed on
10:10
what happens with the people around you
10:12
how they almost Elevate because
10:15
you think that you're doing something
10:17
different but all you're doing is
10:19
actually just being present and showing
10:21
up and listening and not doing
10:24
everything for everybody else give
10:26
people a chance you might find in giving
10:28
the chance that that person might teach
10:30
you something that you never thought was
10:32
possible and to me this is what hope is
10:35
about it's starting that ignition for
10:37
somebody else walking a path and when
10:40
somebody Falls helping them back up
10:42
figuring out a way to connect the dots
10:44
between their dream and yours it doesn't
10:47
mean you have to carry them forever but
10:49
it does mean that you are part of their
10:51
story The Good Parts the parts that you
10:54
can look back on and say like man I'm
10:56
really glad that I was part of that you
10:58
know they're doing great stuff instead
11:01
of I was the reason why that happened
11:04
knowing that you might be the only one
11:06
that knows
11:07
that um but still it's not the kind of
11:12
ending that you want to have you don't
11:14
want your story to end in a bad way that
11:17
no longer affects others in a good way I
11:21
think I think by and large we all really
11:23
want to help each other along the path
11:25
figure out how life unfolds and to help
11:27
them grow and the only way to do that is
11:31
to get over
11:32
yourself yes you might be in a good
11:35
position to help others but if you're
11:37
only out to cause harm you're not
11:39
helping anybody including
11:41
yourself maybe you need to find the PATH
11:44
maybe somebody else that you look down
11:46
on is walking a very path that you need
11:49
to be on maybe you should just pay
11:51
attention as they cross over into your
11:53
dream and then they can help you create
11:55
your
11:57
reality so yeah that's that's that's all
11:59
I got for you guys
12:01
um that felt really good I'm G to be
12:03
honest it felt really good to kind of to
12:06
say that because I it's something I've
12:07
been struggling with a little bit lately
12:09
in a lot of the stuff that I've been
12:10
working on writing books and stuff like
12:12
that but uh yeah I want you guys to do
12:14
me a huge favor go to beyondo
12:16

12:25

12:41
crisscross I need your help in sharing
12:42
this and spreading around so guys until
12:45
I see you next time uh congratulations
12:47
on making this far in life it's not easy
12:49
being a human uh we all make mistakes
12:51
and if you're giving yourself a hard
12:53
time because you've maybe Fallen a
12:55
couple times lately realized that you
12:57
can't get back up and can change and it
13:00
doesn't take a huge huge Catalyst for it
13:02
you can change right now by just
13:04
choosing a different path and I hope
13:07
this helps power
