every time I'm worried or angry or

0:02

frustrated or offended it's instant and

0:05

obvious I'm just going to work on not

0:07

being that way and getting back to

0:09

Center so that I can enjoy the

0:11

omniscient all powerful and all knowing

0:14

uh that I'm part and parcel to and I'm

0:16

going to stop trying to discover

0:19

sometimes something that's uh incapable

0:21

of discovering uh instead I'm just going

0:24

to go with the obvious in the instant my

0:26

reaction to fear and dissipate the

0:29

amount of time I SP in the reaction to

0:30

fear and so for me that practice has

0:34

evolved where I have this uh attraction

0:38

you can call it I also have a perception

0:41

I also have a responsibility equating up

0:44

into a an accountability in my life to

0:47

be in control of it by being in control

0:49

of the amount of time that I spend

0:51

reacting to fear and I spend less time

0:54

reacting to fear than most human beings

0:56

therefore I have more information more

0:59

energy more light more lessons and more

1:01

love than most

1:09

[Music]

1:12

people hey guys welcome to the beyond

1:15

help project podcast my name is Jason

1:17

Tharp and I am extremely excited to

1:20

invite this next guest on uh who's going

1:22

to drop some knowledge on you guys that

1:24

are really going to help uh have an

1:25

impact and bring hope to your life uh in

1:27

all forms and uh that is uh David

1:30

Meltzer um if you don't know who he is

1:32

uh you should you know look him up uh

1:34

you can pretty much find him everywhere

1:37

um and you know I will say before we

1:39

jump in here I just want to uh just say

1:41

one thing about David thei um other than

1:44

being a guy from Ohio which is amazing

1:46

is that I've sat with Dave um in three

1:50

four different occasions and unlike a

1:53

lot of other online people personalities

1:55

that I have met this dude is 100%

1:58

genuine all the time and um even when

2:02

people aren't around all it so to me

2:04

this is like this is pure knowledge pure

2:07

like love pure all of these things that

2:10

we're all looking for in life and I just

2:11

really hope that you guys all listen to

2:13

what uh Dave has to uh to say about all

2:15

this stuff because I think it's going to

2:16

be pretty amazing so David thank you so

2:18

much for taking some time out to join us

2:20

here um how's life

2:23

going it's going extremely well I would

2:25

say is amazing as an understatement uh I

2:29

am on Quest and understanding through my

2:33

core values and it just goes through

2:36

different seasons of Enlightenment when

2:38

I say Enlightenment I'm talking about uh

2:40

being consistent in paying attention and

2:43

giving attention to what I want to learn

2:45

and uh that consistency allows for the

2:48

peeling of different layers of awareness

2:52

epidermis uh and I have learned through

2:55

even since I saw you last how important

2:58

it is to be annoying to to myself um

3:01

it's easy to be annoying to other with

3:03

the qualities and characteristics that

3:05

I'm going to discuss of how I'm annoying

3:08

to myself but there's two things that

3:10

really stand out uh since we saw each

3:12

other last that have marketly made a

3:15

difference in peeling away the epidermis

3:18

of awareness and one is a quest that

3:20

I've been on which is to be honest uh to

3:24

myself but without being hard on myself

3:29

and I've never put those two together

3:31

before that I've always been on a quest

3:33

to be as honest as I can and in radical

3:36

humility realizing that within the

3:38

context of human nature I'm a liar

3:40

cheater manipulator over seller and

3:42

backend seller at a Quantum level so I

3:44

really have to work at it uh but I never

3:47

realized that what comes along with

3:50

being honest with ourselves is being

3:52

hard on ourselves and we can counteract

3:55

all the goodness that's created by being

3:57

honest with ourselves if we don't

4:00

utilize forgiveness alongside the

4:02

gratitude that it takes to be honest

4:04

with ourselves in order to effectuate

4:06

more ease and implementing that honesty

4:10

and then the second thing which you know

4:12

is a love language of yours and mine uh

4:15

which is you have to be repetitive with

4:18

yourself uh and so don't give yourself

4:20

too much credit uh that you're going to

4:23

learn the first time you got to

4:25

keep reading something a hundred times

4:27

in a row I've done for example nine

4:30

years of reading the cor of Miracles

4:32

every day or Napoleon Hill or Dr Wayne

4:35

Dy or several of my favorites now I'm

4:37

also added Walter Isaacson in there so

4:40

uh I'm here to help people be annoying

4:43

to themselves to be honest with

4:45

themselves but not hard on themselves

4:47

and be repetitive which is super

4:49

annoying as well yeah well you know

4:52

that's a great segue because I think you

4:53

kind of answered the question but I also

4:54

I want to I want to dig a little further

4:56

than that so how I Define hope is an

4:58

impact point so it's the point to get

4:59

just started and it also is when you

5:01

start down that path and you ultimately

5:02

fail hope is the way that helps you back

5:05

there so I I Define a little different

5:06

than what the traditional way is so the

5:08

question is is like if you could go back

5:10

in time at any point in your life and

5:11

give yourself hope with that definition

5:14

like what would that look like and how

5:16

like what piece of advice would you give

5:18

that that moment to what you know now

5:21

uh

5:23

yeah I I think it would happen when my

5:26

wife uh told me she was leaving me um

5:31

I think it would have helped me to

5:33

understand uh hope as you define it um

5:37

and also the advice I would have given

5:39

myself uh not just to take stock in who

5:42

I was and what I wanted to become which

5:44

was the advice my wife gave me that

5:47

ultimately saved my life and saved my

5:49

marriage uh but it's ask for help um I

5:54

think within the context of Hope is

5:57

faith faith that there's an all- knowing

6:00

and omniscient more than enough of

6:02

everything for everyone and until we

6:06

have that hope or faith that there's

6:08

more than enough of every for everyone

6:11

we'll never feel comfortable that asking

6:14

for help is a action or an activity of

6:18

value ad that it's not a negotiation or

6:20

a trade when we ask for help and the

6:24

fastest and easiest way to get to where

6:25

we want to be and utilize that hope and

6:28

utilize that faith

6:30

is to Simply identify uh who it is that

6:33

holds the directions to where we want to

6:35

be and ask them to help us and that

6:39

would be for me the moment that I needed

6:41

the most hope and the most Faith uh the

6:44

moment in which I wish I would have

6:47

clicked on what I believe today 17 years

6:50

later is to find people like you to

6:53

surround myself people like you that sit

6:55

in a situation according to a topic a

6:58

subject matter expertise that I want to

7:01

be good at and ask them for help yeah I

7:04

think that's wonderful and it's it's a

7:06

great Segway I I was um recently uh last

7:10

week I was in New York and I was at a a

7:13

I don't know it was supposed to be a

7:15

conference but it was like one of those

7:16

things where people give you like two

7:17

cents of value and try to get you to go

7:20

you know to their site and luckily where

7:22

I I really had that moment of asking for

7:24

help and it was that it was that same

7:26

shift for me in my head I I said why am

7:28

I sitting in this thing when I already

7:30

probably have the answers I need in my

7:32

circle and I've always struggled with

7:34

asking for help and so I literally was

7:37

like I texted a couple people that I

7:38

knew and I leaned over to the person

7:40

that was there and I said I've got what

7:42

I needed out here I left I went to the

7:43

hotel got in the subway got to my car

7:45

and drove and drove back home and it was

7:48

crazy liberating for me because and

7:51

scary at the same time asking for help

7:54

because it is that unknown and you put a

7:55

label on it like oh they're going to

7:57

judge me or whatever so if there are

7:59

some people out there listening to this

8:00

that are they're struggling with this

8:02

idea of help like being somebody that is

8:04

you know Successful by all means

8:06

everybody would look at and go like man

8:08

how how do people get over that

8:09

intimidation factor of asking somebody

8:12

that is in that field for help like

8:14

what's your best approach to getting to

8:16

somebody in that

8:18

manner well what a terrific question

8:21

because I think there's some missing

8:23

elements in hope uh and faith that the

8:27

more more we give the more we receive

8:29

and uh you and I have spoken in the past

8:32

about the skills or the nuances that are

8:35

not taught about implementing the more

8:38

we give the more we receive and so what

8:41

I think really helps people is to

8:43

identify those skills uh in the values

8:46

that uh Empower those skills so for me

8:49

from the research that I've done in a

8:51

religious philosophical theoretical and

8:53

spiritual sense is that let's start with

8:57

what the historical texts are are really

8:59

referring to which is uh in the context

9:02

of asking for help the more we give help

9:06

the more we're

9:07

given and so what skill do we utilize in

9:12

order to elevate our awareness to all

9:14

that we're given when we're giving help

9:16

to everyone and so what I want to do is

9:18

empower the nicest kindest most generous

9:21

people the people that give help to

9:23

everybody uh the empowerment of

9:26

understanding if you're that person if

9:29

you're mom or a teacher or a first

9:32

responder or United States veteran

9:35

people like these people who give a 100%

9:38

uh help to

9:40

everybody uh go ahead and realize that

9:43

through

9:44

gratitude through your capability of

9:46

finding the light the love and the

9:48

lessons in your giving you will be given

9:51

even more and when you realize what

9:55

you're given when you elevate that

9:56

awareness through gratitude of what

9:58

you're given and I want you to remind

10:01

remember and recollect what you're a

10:03

part of a unified abundant more than

10:06

enough system of more than enough of

10:08

everything for everyone and remind

10:10

yourself that you're

10:12

worthy of everything you're

10:15

given and therefore you will receive it

10:18

when you realize the value add of

10:21

receiving it and your worth of receiving

10:24

all that you're given and then beyond

10:27

that in this value value ad system not

10:30

the Zero Sum game that most people live

10:32

in trading and negotiating giving and

10:34

receiving and expectation of the more I

10:36

give I more I receive you will be very

10:39

confident to know that upon awareness of

10:43

all that we're given and worthiness of

10:45

receiving it comes the power of asking

10:48

for more and so instead of giving

10:51

everything and feeling shameful about

10:54

receiving even more than everything we

10:56

now we give more we're given more

10:59

we're worthy of receiving more and we're

11:02

confident of asking for more than more

11:04

now we're giving more than more giv more

11:07

than more receiving more than more and

11:09

again asking for more than more than

11:11

more and you see that everyone that

11:14

endear this philosophy will end up with

11:17

more than enough of everything for

11:19

everyone and for me that's where the

11:23

Nuance the skill set of gratitude to

11:26

find the light the love and the lessons

11:27

and everything that we give helps to

11:30

facilitate not only the worthiness of

11:32

receiving it but also the understanding

11:35

of abundance the value ad of asking for

11:38

more yeah and I think that's one of the

11:41

the greatest things about like when I

11:42

was in uh around you watching setting

11:45

back and observing is that this natural

11:47

like um magnetic thing that people have

11:50

around you and and you you project that

11:54

back like you get you literally give

11:56

back the exact same thing and people are

11:58

kind of drawn to that sort of sort of

11:59

thing you know I'm just curious like was

12:01

this something that did it come out of

12:03

that moment with your wife or was this

12:05

something that has kind of always been

12:07

when you were little you felt this but

12:09

then you kind of suppressed it but was

12:10

there a catalyst that brought that out

12:12

of you like where where did you unearth

12:14

that ability to do

12:16

that it's a paradigm shift so I think

12:19

all of us in varying degrees at a

12:21

Quantum level which is a genetic and

12:24

energetic inheritance uh at a Quantum

12:27

level we feel that throughout our lives

12:31

now we all interfere with it in varying

12:33

degrees and varying levels and we're

12:37

most of us fall into the Trap as I did

12:40

of trying to distinguish and I know you

12:42

did this too Jason to distinguish the

12:45

traumas uh whether it be past life

12:47

traumas or childhood traumas or normal

12:50

life traumas of almost dying or you know

12:54

all the different things that have

12:55

happened to all of us right instead of

12:58

exploring in uh every day utilizing the

13:03

majority of our time trying to explore

13:06

what we actually are afraid of from

13:08

those traumas or the uh effect of those

13:12

traumas I've come up with a simple

13:14

paradigm shift in solution that says

13:17

there's an instant and obvious way to

13:20

clear that interference or dissipate or

13:23

dissolve that interference and it's the

13:25

instant and obvious is the reaction to

13:28

fear regardless of what fear is and why

13:31

fear is so instead of saying you know I

13:33

was molested when I was nine therefore

13:36

I'm super angry at everybody and

13:38

everything and when I'm put into this

13:40

situation it evokes that anger and

13:43

therefore I'm going to spend days weeks

13:44

months and years accelerating in the

13:47

wrong direction or interfering with my

13:49

higher self or this feeling that you

13:51

said did I have at a young age I simply

13:54

say I'm angry or I'm offended or

13:58

separative inferior Superior anxious

14:00

frustrated guilty resentful worried any

14:03

of these feelings and I say to myself hm

14:06

this is an instant

14:08

feeling uh it's obvious that I'm pissed

14:11

off I really don't give a what

14:14

childhood trauma caused the fear that's

14:16

creating this interference of my higher

14:18

self so now I get completely logical and

14:22

pragmatic and say every time I'm worried

14:24

or angry or frustrated or offended it's

14:28

instant and obvious I'm just going to

14:29

work on not being that way and getting

14:31

back to Center so that I can enjoy the

14:34

omniscient all powerful and all knowing

14:36

uh that I'm part and parcel to and I'm

14:39

going to stop trying to discover

14:42

sometimes something that's uh incapable

14:44

of discovering uh instead I'm just going

14:47

to go with the obvious in the instant my

14:49

reaction to fear and dissipate the

14:51

amount of time I spend in the reaction

14:53

to fear and so for me that practice has

14:57

evolved where I have have this uh

15:00

attraction you can call it I also have a

15:03

perception I also have a responsibility

15:06

equating up into a an accountability in

15:09

my life to be in control of it by being

15:12

in control of the amount of time that I

15:14

spend reacting to fear and I spend less

15:16

time reacting to fear than most human

15:18

beings therefore I have more information

15:21

more energy more light more lessons and

15:24

more love than most people that's great

15:27

and I think everybody needs to rewind

15:29

and listen to that again you know and

15:31

and understand you know what Dave's

15:32

putting out there is is exactly that

15:34

like your your reliving past that was

15:37

already predicted bringing it to the

15:39

Future and you're expecting to get

15:40

further and you're you're not you're

15:42

just going to keep churning in your same

15:43

crap and uh that's just that's just

15:45

solid awesome advice um I know we're

15:48

getting close to time but I do have one

15:49

last question for you so um I'm just

15:52

curious what was the best piece of

15:54

advice that you never listened to

15:57

whether it was your own or somebody

16:01

else's yeah um I know this is going to

16:04

be silly no but it is the best piece of

16:08

advice it's

16:10

uh that you don't know what you don't

16:13

know and it was pertaining to me telling

16:16

my father uh that I never would gain

16:19

weight uh I I had difficulty gaining

16:22

weight um and so I I had to eat at

16:25

midnight when I played football in

16:26

college I uh had had a diet up until

16:30

recently of five or 6,000 calories a day

16:32

and I couldn't understand uh why I

16:34

started gaining weight but I just didn't

16:37

listen to my dad when he said look you

16:40

need to have control of your diet

16:43

because eventually you will gain weight

16:46

and what the lesson was that I just

16:48

didn't listen to and it applied to being

16:50

a father it applied to getting married

16:52

it applied to gaining weight and it

16:54

applies to other things that can't be

16:56

explained until you get to experience it

16:58

s and the lesson is hey buddy you don't

17:02

know what you don't know and where it

17:04

became most dangerous was with the

17:07

people that I love the most uh because

17:11

if you don't admit you don't know what

17:13

you don't know the advice that you're

17:15

going to give to the people that you

17:17

love the most because you will be more

17:20

afraid for those people than you are for

17:22

yourself is going to be really shitty

17:24

advice because it's going to be based

17:26

out of fear and until you reach a level

17:29

of radical humility with your children

17:31

and your friends and your family that

17:33

you love more than you may even love

17:37

yourself that you love them and care

17:38

about them until you realize you don't

17:41

know what you don't know and from that

17:43

position of radical humility give advice

17:46

with the ignorance humility not the

17:49

ignorant arrogance of fear telling our

17:51

children you got to go to college you

17:53

got to get this job you got to PR no

17:55

I don't know uh but what I can

17:59

share with you is the experiences I've

18:01

had and the lessons that I've derived

18:03

from those experiences so that maybe you

18:06

can make better choices by learning from

18:08

the dummy tax that I have paid from not

18:12

knowing what I don't know and I wish I

18:14

would have taken that advice from my

18:16

father uh that hey buddy you don't know

18:18

what you don't know uh I would have

18:21

saved myself uh a lot of years of

18:23

unhealthy eating uh and gaining weight

18:27

that I now at 56 by have under control

18:30

because I realize uh whether it becomes

18:33

to diet or parenting or marriage I just

18:36

don't know what I don't know and until I

18:38

experience it nobody can explain it to

18:40

me they can share their experiences in

18:43

their lessons but they can't explain to

18:45

me what it's like to be married what

18:46

it's like to have kids what it's like to

18:49

get older and lose your metabolism these

18:51

are things that you just don't know and

18:54

that's the lesson I'd love to share with

18:56

everyone that's wonderful man you know

18:58

Dave just want to just take a moment and

19:00

just you know just tell you thank you

19:02

for what you're doing I mean I really

19:03

appreciate the fact that you know I know

19:05

you're out there you're making TV shows

19:07

you're you're you're doing these meetups

19:09

you're you're out there inspiring people

19:12

to see the best of themselves and I

19:14

think that what goes along with that is

19:17

just the genuine caring for another

19:20

human being and I just uh I know you

19:22

probably hear it a lot but I just want

19:23

to like say for me to you like how much

19:25

I appreciate that you're doing a hell of

19:27

a job of being a human um I know it's

19:29

not easy and some days even those of us

19:31

that feel like people think we have it

19:33

all together we have those rough days

19:34

too um and how normal it is to have

19:37

those days and I think um I just want to

19:40

just make sure that uh you're well aware

19:42

of that even on those days where you

19:44

feel like people aren't paying attention

19:46

um they are and you're doing an awesome

19:48

job and uh I just really uh celebrate

19:50

you and thank you for the impact you're

19:52

having and the hope that you're

19:53

providing to everybody else and uh I I

19:56

truly look forward to all the stuff in

19:57

the future

19:59

yeah yeah I appreciate that and if I can

20:02

I I would love as you know to offer your

20:04

community my book sure I sign my book I

20:08

I I pay for the book I pay for shipping

20:10

uh there's absolutely no cost at all uh

20:13

if everyone would just email me directly

20:16

I do answer my own emails very cryptic

20:19

or templated uh if it's like hey I want

20:21

a book I have a templated response uh to

20:24

give you that but I do look at it I know

20:26

who you are and I read your message is

20:29

uh so if you can email me and put it in

20:31

the notes David dz.com David dz.com uh I

20:37

will tell you that that message from you

20:40

is well received because uh and I might

20:43

choke up talking about it but this was a

20:45

morning for me uh as I have my TV show

20:48

and I'm doing a Meetup and a meetings

20:51

and you know I have the VIP dinners and

20:54

then I'm going to Limitless with my lead

20:56

and quick and goggin and you know a full

20:59

Delta Center of people uh that a

21:03

relative close to me is having a surgery

21:06

uh on Friday and you talk about it's uh

21:11

not easy sometimes yeah uh making those

21:14

commitments and then having uh to

21:17

prioritize and and I had to have a

21:20

conversation with myself about hey I'm G

21:24

to cancel everything if you need me and

21:27

that's a difficult uh thing about

21:30

believing uh in doing good and being

21:33

there and prioritizing the right people

21:36

and you know need needless to say uh I

21:39

uh am grateful that the person uh

21:42

received my offer uh to cancel

21:44

everything and to be with them uh during

21:46

their surgery and uh I think they value

21:49

my mission over me being there and and

21:53

that was Unconditional by them but it's

21:55

not easy sometimes and you know there's

21:58

a lot people that may not see the

22:00

sincerity and 10% of the people are

22:02

going to hate you no matter what and uh

22:04

that's a great Epiphany to have because

22:07

they don't bother me anymore because I

22:08

know it's just math yeah uh but I

22:11

appreciate the recognition of that I I I

22:14

I do my best I learn lessons and I have

22:16

fun and I want other people to do the

22:18

same but sometimes it's hard and this

22:20

was one of those mornings that it was

22:22

hard so to uh hear you uh acknowledge

22:27

that means a lot to me me and that's why

22:29

you and I resonate with one another and

22:30

you're part of my neighborhood and I'll

22:32

come back whenever you need me and I'll

22:34

keep inviting you not obligating you to

22:35

come visit me we're going to be in tons

22:38

22:39

22:41
