SPEAKER_00:

Welcome to the Ladder Roofing Mastermind, a podcast that highlights roofing success through systems. I am your host, Emily Moe. And our topic today is randomness. It's been about two months since our last podcast episode, and a lot has been going on behind the scenes during that time. There is a statistic that most new podcasts do not make it past the seven-episode mark, mainly because people fall off of their consistency and the work that it takes to really put it on. So knowing that our last podcast fell around that mark, I have been, well, beating myself up most. And the attitude has not been one of quitting or stopping the podcast. I just had some operational things that needed to be dealt with and took a pause. We're just going to call it a pause and we're moving on from there. But I just wanted to record this episode to discuss what to do when this happens. In my life, anyway, this happens or has happened many times. I have an idea. So if it's something that I feel like I don't trust myself to carry forward indefinitely, oftentimes I won't even start because I I don't want to feel that disappointment in myself. Maybe you can relate. I think I am not alone in this mental place, right? So that being said, what have I done when I've fallen off course? My lower, lesser, weaker self typically will be very uh critical and mean to me until my smarter, stronger, better self kicks that version of the teeth and just says, just hush, just hush. There is a lot that we all are doing on a daily basis. I am no exception to that. Recognizing instead of looking, always looking forward, um, which a lot of entrepreneurs are doing constantly, looking forward at what the goal is, what where I want to be, where I'm going, what I need to do, all the pieces that need to fall into place. It can become very overwhelming. And that's okay. Right? I mean, this is overwhelming. There's a lot to do, even if you're not an entrepreneur and just, you know, raising your family or working a job or whatever that might look like, there's a lot to do every day. And so recognizing where we've been instead of all the things I'm not doing today to get to that wonderful goal that I have. It's not that we should stop pursuing the thing that we're looking for, but maybe when these moments occur, the tool that we should access is a reflection of how much better, bigger, stronger, whatever the adjective should be that is relevant to the situation, how much growth has occurred since I started, or since last year, or since last week, or since yesterday. I can tell you in very recent history, just this week, I had a crazy epiphany on Sunday, something in my personal life that has been weighing on this household for probably two years. I've been praying for a solution. I've been hoping that other people will solve it. I've been asking God what I can do to solve it. And I did not give up hope, but I wasn't seeing what I was looking for. And it happened on Sunday, just like that, like a just a download from above solution to the problem. And guess what? The problem was me. It was my attitude, it was my self-righteousness, it was all those things. And it was one of those times that honestly, this might have been, I don't know if it was the first time, but it's the first time that I've probably acknowledged it to the level that it deserved. God literally reached into my brain and flipped a switch that had needed to be flipped for some time, and it finally happened. So I literally am a different person than I was when I woke up Sunday morning, and today is Tuesday morning. So change can happen fast. We can shift perspectives at any time. Oftentimes we have total control over that. My coach Rob Cressy, who will be a guest on the podcast in the near future, has done a tremendous job of just working with me on my tools, the toolbox of what to do when this happens, what to do when that happens. Because being prepared is most of the battle. When we feel unequipped to handle something or not sure even how to combat the things that we do to ourselves in our own heads, that's scary. And so having the right tools is obviously of vital importance. Uh, any contractor knows that you've got to show up on the job site with the right tools, otherwise, you're gonna waste a lot of time and energy. And the same exact same thing is true in life. So I am just dropping in here to say the podcast is not dead. We are still working on content and we're gonna pick up the flow again very soon. But also wanted to encourage you that if you are facing something that you've told yourself you're going to do or you're really working towards and you hit a snag, it doesn't go the way you thought for a week. Don't let that kick you off course forever. I think it's natural for us to go through the self-critical stage of beating ourselves up for this thing even occurring. So I'm not going to say don't do that, because in my experience, it's just like the next, the next inevitable piece of that journey. But try to shrink that dispersion, as Ed Milette says, make it a smaller window of time rather than spending a year wallowing about it. Take a day, take two days, take a week, and then get back up and keep focusing. As far as tools that can be used to help you with this, number one, prayer. Like I just said a minute ago, God literally answered uh a very important prayer that has been asked numerous times, and the timing was right in his eyes, and and so he he he is working in me to fix that. But outside of that, there are things you can do yourself that also are helpful. One is just daily declarations. Who is it that you want to be? And you already have all those pieces inside of you already, anyway, to get there. So remind yourself of that. I am a confident business owner, I am a serving member of my community, I am strong, I am smart, I am all the things, I'm an excellent mother, I'm a wonderful spouse, I'm whatever. Um, saying those things out loud is reaffirming and helps to remind yourself of the power that you have. So anyway, I will obviously keep this short. I just wanted to hop in and um give you a little something today. I hope it's helpful. And um we will get back to just doing regular, good, business growing content in the very near future. I'm very excited about that. If we aren't friends yet on social media, please let's change that. Find me on Facebook. You can search Emily.mo1981. I'm Emily Mo on Facebook and Instagram. Instagram is Emily Moe underscore CFO. The ladder roofing business team is here to help you redesign your roofing business to be more profitable and lead your market. We do that through helping you build the right systems, which the great thing about systems is when they are in place, it doesn't matter how you're feeling, because the system is going to operate. It will help you build a stronger team, it will help make sure that you have cash where you need it, when you need it. Your jobs will become more profitable, your spouse will become happier with you, you will have a more fulfilling life outside of work and within the organization that you are building. So if you are interested and serious about growing something, give us a shout. We want to help you. We seriously strive to be our client's business BFF, and we want you to be part of that experience. We only take one contractor per market, which means you're going to get our undivided attention and we can help you lead that market and help your community. Because every conversation I've ever had with a friend or family member about finding good contractors, it is a struggle. And so if you can become the leader in your market that not only benefits you, your team, your families, everyone that's involved or touches that organization, but your community as a whole is stronger and it gives you more opportunity to find other places to serve in that community. So I am a huge believer in these systems, not just because I'm a numbers and accounting nerd, which I am, but I love communities and they need us. They need us. So if you are already willing to step into that and be a business owner, you are so much more equipped and ready to step into other opportunities to serve. That's where my heart is, and that's what I want to help people do. So please reach out to us. And until next time, peace and profit.
