SPEAKER_01Hi, everybody, and welcome back to the Allopecia Angel Podcast. I'm your host, Johanna Dolman. Today we are going to be talking about shortcuts, but about a bunch of other things too. First, though, I wanted to remind you that this week we are having our three-part series free training that starts and continues this week. And so I want to make sure that you are registered and ready to go because I am there. Meet me in the Facebook group, and we will be having our live training there. And this way you can ask questions and you can see exactly how healing and reversing alopecia, hair loss, and so many other situations can be helped naturally and effectively personalized to you. So I can't wait to show you that. And much more about today's podcast episode is really about shortcuts. And I know we all want a quick fix. And when it comes to our own situation, when it comes to really anything, there is no such thing as a quick fix, especially if it requires effort. You know, many times I like to think about my master's degree, or I like to think about college, or I like to think about getting pregnant or healing my hair loss. None of these quick fixes were actually solutions. And it doesn't matter how many practitioners I saw, it doesn't matter how many doctors I went to, how many dermatologists I saw, how many different countries and states where I saw the different practitioners, none of them had quick fixes. And on top of it, none of them had anything to give me for as a remedy, as a solution or as a result, or anything that would guarantee that my hair would grow back. If you know my story, you know that I had allop sturiata for many years and healed it naturally and effectively. And here I am 10 years post. And I've been in remission since, even after pregnancy, even after COVID, even after stressful times, moving to three different countries in a year and a half span, moving and uprooting my family from the US to Europe, from Europe to Japan and back to the US. So life happens and we can control our hair and we can have the hair growth and we can go back into remission and we can put alopecia hair loss in the past and not fear it anymore. But what I'm driving home today is the topic of shortcuts because there's different levels of shortcuts. First, there's in the beginning, right, for anyone with hair loss, you're thinking of the pill, the serum, the shampoo, the monoxidil, the one thing that will like lead me to full hair growth. Those shortcuts eventually either don't work, backfire. And in my case, you know, you kept on buying things to see if they worked, and none of it did. So on top of it, there's an expense on time and on money. And of course, then you lose hope and you get disappointed and all the things in terms of this focus of getting your hair back. But if you think about it, a lot of times things take time. A lot of times the right way of doing things is not a shortcut. And so I want to say this both for the viewers, but then also for my clients, because sometimes it takes a minute for people to see the value in doing things the right way. There is a right way and there is a wrong way of doing things. And in everything that I do, I always try to lean in towards the right way. What is the right way that's not gonna just give me results now, but then also for the future, right? So, for example, if I was trying to lose 50 pounds as I did after postpartum, after having my first baby at 40, I gained 50 pounds. I had a 10-pound baby. And so then what happens? There's a wrong way of losing weight, and there's a right way of losing weight. The wrong way of losing weight could be binge diets, could be ozempic, could be medications, could be so many things, you know, not eating, but all these things would have consequences, right? There's always a cause and effect to things. And in trying to lose weight, 50 pounds especially, the wrong way, there's a whole host of ways. But what happens there? You potentially you're malnourished, you're not being able to focus, you know, you're already sleep deprived with the newborn. So potentially you're also feeling weaker. There's just so many things that could happen with the bad approach to losing weight. And on top of it, if you do OZMPEG and the Wagovi and all these other shortcuts, you are gonna find hair loss, you are gonna find side effects, you are gonna have potentially negative risks to all of it. So, what was my the right way? The right way was I hired a personal trainer and I went to the gym. And I went to the gym six days a week and I did this for six months, and of course, I had stellar, died in lifestyle, and lo and behold, the weight went away. So I lost the 50 pounds, I was back to my fighting weight and pre-pregnancy, and this was the best way because this way I didn't have hair shed, I didn't have saggy skin, I built muscle, I built strength, more importantly, and I became stronger, right? Because having a 10-pound baby, you know, all the strength of lifting the baby up and carrying it, it's a lot. It quickly turned into 20 pounds and then 30, you know, and so on and so forth. So mom has to have that strength to lift them up and to do the things. And so there was a right way of doing this and it worked. And it doesn't just work for me, it works for anyone who wants to do things the right way. The same thing happens when we are looking at hair loss. There's a right way of doing things that will give you results, not just for today, but for the rest of your life. This is where alopecia angel comes into play. This is where you can see the results, not just in me, but also my clients. You can go back into my YouTube, into my podcast, and see the many client testimonies that I have where we interview them, let's say at the beginning, when they're first seeing hair growth, and then three years later, where they've continued to see full hair growth and they continue to live their brilliant lives. And so this is what I'm talking about. Like for me, it's it's past the 10-year mark where I've been in remission, alopecia has never come back. And there's a right way of doing things, and there's also a wrong way. And we all have a choice. We all have a choice and give it into temptation, just like if you're trying to lose weight, give it into the cupcake, give it into Thanksgiving dinner, whatever it is. But there's also the repercussions of that. And sometimes shortcuts can be easily dismissed, and you can work on that on Monday morning and maybe do a little more weightlifting or whatever it is, and that extra cheat meal that you had can go away. But when it comes to hair growth and hair loss, again, there's a right way and there's a wrong way. And I will tell you that if you continue to have hair loss, if you continue to have issues and it hasn't stopped, you've been doing things the wrong way. And you've been on a path, on a journey of doing things the wrong way. And this is something that I struggled with myself, but I also see my clients struggle with. And it's constant, right? You keep on stumbling over the same issues over and over and over again, and you're not getting anywhere. The other aspect of shortcuts that I wanted to bring up today is that sometimes we think doing things on a cost-conscious, cheaper way of doing things is better. And I will say that many times investing the right way is the best way. Meaning there are areas where you can lower your pricing, and there are areas where you can save money. And I teach you all this inside the Hair and Heel program. But what I'm trying to say is like there's areas that you can't cheap on. You can't go cheap on. For example, testing. You can't go for a lower end test. Why? Because you're gonna get bad results, it's subpar testing, it's not giving you the full picture, and on top of it, then you're not gonna have the correct protocol and you could be missing something. And so this is what I'm talking about. It's like I've heard it from many people, new clients, old clients, where they've done testing before coming to me, and they're like, well, I've already done this test, I've already done that test, and I've already done this and I've already done that. But it's not all the same. Just like cars, shoes, and handbags, it's not all the same. There are certain calibers and standards for quality. And the same thing goes for testing, the same thing goes for supplements, the same thing goes for products, the same thing goes for so many things. You can't compare apples to oranges and try to get apples when you won't get apples. You're just gonna get a combination of a fruit salad between the apple and the orange. Or in this case, with hair loss and hair growth, you're going to be chasing your tail, thinking you've done everything when in reality you really haven't. You've cut corners, really, trying to go for the cheaper test, or you've cut corners trying to do things in a very cost-conscious budget way, and it bites you in, it bites you in the rear end at the long end of it. And I have so many examples in my head. So, for example, I have a client and she wanted to do testing and see her regular doctor. And the thing is, it's her regular doctor, doesn't have the same mindset, doesn't have the same approach, doesn't have the same tools, doesn't have the same possibilities or capabilities, and doesn't even have the same test. And so sometimes when you want to see your own practitioner, there's still not a good resource. And so this is part of the problem why we're in this vicious cycle of being and having hair loss on a continuous basis without any resolution. And it's because we're doing things the wrong way, knowingly or unknowingly. And so this is where you need to find the path, the strategic path, the right way of doing things. So you save time, you save money, and you understand that shortcuts are only gonna bite you in the butt later on. And you understand that shortcuts are actually gonna take you on a longer route versus getting straight to the results. And that's what shortcuts have taught me, not just in healing alopecia, not just in healing myself, but in healing others, but then also even for graduate school, even for getting pregnant, even for car maintenance. If you think about car maintenance, something as simple, like we all have a car, we all understand that you have to get an oil change after 3,000 miles, we all understand that you have to maintain a car a certain way. And it doesn't matter whether it's a Ferrari or a Ford or a Toyota, they all require some sort of maintenance and maybe more in the Ferrari and maybe less in the Toyota, but they all require some level of maintenance. There alone, if you try to cut corners just in the oil change or just in the tires, you will see a huge decline in how you can operate the car. Am I right? And if you continue to cut corners in the quality of product, let's say in oil or in gas or in anything else, tires, for example, which would include safety, it would have a trickle effect into other areas. For example, if I got cheaper tires or tires that were not as great as they should be, then I would have to maybe replace them sooner. So that's more money out of pocket. And potentially they would be more dangerous, or maybe they were recalled and I didn't know it. You know, there's just so many factors that you'd have to look into. And so I hope this is making sense in where I'm going because a lot of times I'm seeing where people want to take shortcuts and people want to make things cheaper, cheaper, cheaper, cheaper, cheaper. But look at where we are today. Everything is made in China, and not everything made in China is good quality, right? And there's a lot of things that are made in China and you're suspicious about. And they have, let's say, they're contaminated with so many things. And so no longer is cheaper better. And I'm telling you that when it comes to your health, when it comes to your safety, when it comes to the right way of doing things for long-term results, for long-term health, for long-term zero risk, for long-term benefit, you want to do things the right way. And this includes going for your hair growth. Your hair growth deserves, you deserve doing things the right way. And so this is what I teach, this is how I live, and this is what I provide in terms of services for my clients. And you can see their results. You can see that the path that they're taking, that they're choosing to take, let me just add that, that they're choosing to take, because we all have a choice. Like if I went bald tomorrow, I could choose medications, I could choose monoxidil, I could choose a wig, I can choose so many different things. But I chose to heal naturally. And so moving into that direction of not just choosing naturally, but choosing the right way of doing things, not cutting corners, I think is a huge takeaway right here, right now. Because in a fast fashion, fast way of doing things, the here and now, the instant gratification, can you see improvement with hair loss in less than six weeks? Yes. Can you see hair growth in less than eight weeks? Absolutely. And what does that take? Well, that takes a normal, a normal amount of factors. It takes an evaluation, it takes effort, it takes following a certain path, it takes many things. I explained it all in the free training. So if you want to dive deeper with me, come to the free training. We continue this week. We have two more days of the free training on Tuesday and Thursday. So come join me. And you will see that this is the right way of doing things. And how do I know it's the right way? Well, it's because I've been doing this for 10 years, over 10 years now, actually. And I've helped thousands of families, men, women, and children all over the world in over 68 countries. And more than that is that they have results. These aren't AI pictures, these aren't AI videos, these are true videos, testimonials. These are people's journeys, people's intimate vulnerabilities of having hair loss, of having a second, third autoimmune disease, of having so many different situations coming from different countries and cultures and backgrounds, and they're all healing and they're all seeing hair growth and they're all seeing progress. And so, this is what I'm saying. There's a right way of doing things and there's a wrong way. And so maybe in your mind you're thinking, well, how many of those relapse? How many of those do this? How many of those do that? Those are all good questions. And so come to the training, come ask your questions, and let's talk about it. Because at the same time, just like keeping those 50 pounds off, that's up to me. That's not up to my personal trainer. My personal trainer shows me, guides me, shows me exactly what I need to do and keeps me accountable. And much like that same support system, that's what I have here too. I am that personal trainer, but the person who's gonna do the push-ups, hyperbole, right? This is an analogy. Who's gonna do the sit-ups, who's gonna run on the treadmill and lift the weights is you. Or in this case, it was me. I'm the one who did all that, not my trainer. My trainer was already fit and ripped. He didn't need any more muscle action, but he continues to work out. And it's up to me to not only lose the weight, which I did, but to keep it off. And in this case, when you heal your hair loss, it's also up to you to keep the hair growth and to continue the hair growth. And in my case, I've continued the hair growth. I'm over the age of 45 and I grow an inch of hair a month. And I track this with my gray hairs and my roots because I have to see the hair salon, the hairstylist, Lauren, thank you so much, for all that you do on a regular basis. And so this is the thing is that age is not a situation, race is not an issue or a hindrance. It's not, you know, how long you've had it or what type of hair loss. It's just really about putting the work in. If you think about a master's degree, you can't graduate and get that certificate or the diploma until you do the work, you pass the test, and you graduate, right? If I didn't do all the work, you don't graduate. Same thing here. You need to do the work and then you graduate. So there's no shortcuts to that because if you were caught cheating, for example, you would not graduate. And if you weren't cheating, at some point, maybe you really needed that information later on in life and you wouldn't have the knowledge for it. So one way or another, it would come back to haunt you. And so this is what I'm saying is like you can't have shortcuts. You have to look at this like, I'm gonna do this and I'm gonna do this once and do this the right way. And I will tell you, after my own journey, after seeing so many different providers, practitioners in different countries and states, I knew there was a way to heal. I knew there was a right way to do things, and I knew I was gonna figure it out. And I knew that if I just kept going, this would happen. And it did. And it didn't just happen for me, it happened for thousands of others. And so this is what I'm saying is that think about how you normally do things. If you normally think that, oh, I'm gonna try to cut across and take a shortcut here and take another shortcut there, at the end of it, who are you hurting? You're only hurting yourself one way or another, whether that's not graduating and getting your master's or getting your degree, or maybe not seeing the full fruition of the hair growth, or anything else that you want to work for and strive for. And I will say there is a plan, there is a way, and it's laid out for you. Once we start working together, you will see that it's laid out for you and it's just following the steps, following the steps for you day by day, week by week. And this is where the magic happens. Because had I not gone to the gym on a consistent basis, I wouldn't have lost the weight, especially in six months' time, which is actually almost a record if you think about it. Six months, 50 pounds. That's that's pretty stellar. You know, it took me nine months to gain those 50. And so it took me six months to lose it all. Once I got serious about it, right? I would say the first three months, I was still in the postpartum glow and glory and not really thinking about anything. But then after those three months, I was like, all right, now it's time to get serious. And you decide when you want to get serious about your hair growth. You decide when you're ready for that next step, when you're ready for results, when you're ready to do things the right way. I will say a lot of us are stuck primarily because of these shortcuts, primarily because of not doing things the right way. Most of you know what I mean when I'm talking about shortcuts. You think it's gonna be a quick pill off the shelf, or you think it's gonna be the latest serum or the shampoo or this anything else that's latest and greatest, whether it's a laser cap, peptides, or anything else. Think about that twice because it sounds like a shortcut. And if you truly have autoimmune alopecia, scarring alopecia, female pattern baldness type of alopecia, telogen of fluvium, diffuse, postpartum, just incessant shedding that hasn't stopped for months and years, it's not gonna get fixed with just one laser cap, with one peptide, with one this, with one that. It won't. Think about it. If it took you so many years of having hair loss to finally like try to find something, the right way of doing things, you're not gonna find the magic pill or the magic serum or the magic shampoo, and then have everything be resolved once since you've been, you know, dealing with this for months and years or decades. And so think about that. That the logic in and of itself doesn't add up. There is a right way of doing things. And this is the way that I am trying to show you this week with the free training. So please continue. Register if you haven't, it's never too late. Register and let's get going on that free training so I can show you all these steps. I can show you what works. I can show you how this happens, how the magic happens, because I think that's the bigger part of it. And shortcuts are something that innately we all want to do. Even, for example, I have an older home. I think it's as old as I am, if not older. And with an older home, you have maintenance. And then you can think, oh, I'm just going to do like a lipstick job and just take care of it that way. Or you can think, well, no, I want this to be done right the first time. So I don't have to pay double later on for somebody to redo it because the first person just did a cheap job. And so you got to think of it this way too. Do I want things done the right way? Or do I want things done just in a very cheaply inexpensive way so that it's fixed today within the first 24 hours, but then maybe later down the road, I'm not thinking about. So, for example, another example I can give you is that I have these skylights that were in my bathrooms and they were old, very old, over 30 years old. And, you know, the people and companies that came out to look at them, they're said, they don't even make these products anymore. That's how old this stuff is. It was like dingy yellow. It wasn't even white anymore. And so we needed to replace them because you could see that there could be a possible leak from the roof. There could be a possible issues later on. You want to avoid. In my case, I wanted to avoid the leaks, if there was any leaks, any damage, right? Not just to the ceiling, but then also to the roofing and anything else that was there. And so doing things done right saves you time and money down the road. And I think that is the moral of the story here is that when you do things done right the first time, you get the results you are looking for. And I think that is the beauty of working with somebody who can show you that there are results to be had. I think that's one of the biggest obstacles here is a believing that you can have the results you're looking for, but B, understanding that it's not going to be in just one pill. It's not going to be with just a couple diet changes. It's going to be more because you've been dealing with this for months, years, and decades. And so potentially there's more work to do. Understand that the right way is going to look a little different for everybody. But at the same time, the benefits, the long-term benefits, the long-term longevity to that is priceless, is absolutely priceless. I mean, I sit here before you telling you about this. And if you're watching on YouTube, you can see like how thick and dense my hair is. And it's something that I gotta tell you, now, today, in my mid-40s, it's so much better than it was in my 20s. So much better, especially my late 20s. My late 20s is when I started seeing like a nosedive of sorts in hair growth and stagnation and bad haircuts and all the things. But all in all, no shortcut is worth it because at the end of it, it will just come back to haunt you. So that is the podcast episode for this week, is to forewarn you that if you are continue to think and live in this shortcut way of doing things or in this, let's do the cheaper option or the cheapest option, then you're really not going to get the full results that you are wanting or deserving. And I think that's the biggest thing here is that you want hair growth just like I wanted it, and you deserve it just like I deserved it. And really, there's really one way of doing things. It's the right way. And the right way may take a little longer. It may be more comprehensive, but it's going to give you the full results. And a lot of times when we want the shortcuts, it doesn't render and it fires back, it backfires, and it doesn't lend itself to giving us the full results, which continuously keeps us in a state of vicious cycles, not getting to root causes and disappointments, frustration, and just being very skeptical of anything else that could be coming our way as a possibility for healing. So that is my podcast episode for this week. I hope you understand where I'm coming from because shortcuts are not the way of doing things. It's really black and white is the way I see it. You know, we all have a choice. You either choose or you don't choose. You choose to go the right way or you don't. You choose to go the wrong way, and there's consequences. There's consequences to either, both. I think that's something that all parents teach right away, right? Consequences to our decisions and it shows for it. And so this is where I'm very extremely results-oriented. And that's my hope and goal for you and for anyone else listening to this, is that you get your full hair growth because you can. Not because I say, but because I know you can. Whether you have scarring, postpartum, autoimmune, totalis, universalis, areiata, it doesn't matter. You can get full hair growth. But it's up to you. Please join me in the free training. I look forward to talking to you next week. Thank you so much. Take care.
