Can Sex Make You Smarter?
Welcome to the Friday mini episode of America’s number one sex podcast Dr. Sex Fairy. I am Dr. Kanwal Bawa, America’s favorite sex doctor and I am here to transform your life. Our Tuesday episodes are longer, and even include a review of the week. Make sure you follow this podcast for incredible information, and answers to questions you didn’t even know you had. Also watch out for our new Tuesday episodes to find out how you can win a free phone call with me.
Our topic today is an interesting one. Sex helps reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety. It lowers blood pressure. It is good for the heart. It helps you sleep better. Regular sex can even reduce the risk of prostate cancer. But can sex actually make you smarter? It turns out that yes, it can. In Episode 87 titled “How Many Calories Does Sex Burn?” I discussed that moderately strenuous sex is comparable to the calories burnt during a brisk 20-minute walk.
It is a well-known fact that exercise can boost brain function and reduce the risk of dementia. According to a study published in the journal Preventive Medicine in 2020, inactive adults have double the risk of cognitive or brain function decline than active adults. Sex brings on the sweat when done right and can certainly count as exercise. A study released in 2010 found that sexual activity even increases cell production in the hippocampus part of the brain.
I am not saying that regular sexual activity can prevent cognitive decline in human beings as they age. What I am saying is that it can significantly slow that process, and that it certainly helps with memory.
Make sure you listen to Episode 87 titled “How Many Calories Does Sex Burn?” and Episode 70 titled “12 Reasons Why You Need More Sex,” for more information.
If you partner needs some inspiration to start having more sex with you, text them a link to this episode right away! If your partner and you already have an active sex life, send them a link anyway as a virtual high five.
Until next time.
