Our focus today is Why You Should Have More Sex. Not only is this episode packed with life-altering information for your partner and you, it also tells you why having great sex, and a lot of it, can make you healthier and more fulfilled.

1.       Let's first discuss the virtuous cycle of sex and libido. Sex isn't just pleasurable. It enhances your health. Regular sexual activity boosts libido, creating a positive cycle of increased desire and satisfaction. It’s like a feedback loop; the more you engage in sex, the more your body craves it.

2.       Practice makes perfect. More sex makes you better at sex. Sexual proficiency, like any skill, improves with practice. Regular intimacy helps you understand and respond to your partner's needs better, making the sexual experience more fulfilling for both.

3.       Sex can even make you look younger! Sex increases blood flow, which can help nourish skin cells, leading to healthier skin and a more youthful appearance.

4.       Sex impacts bladder control. Regular sex strengthens the pelvic floor muscles, which can improve bladder control, which is especially beneficial for women after childbirth.

5.       Sex lowers the risk of type 2 diabetes. Regular sexual activity has been linked to better regulation of insulin and reduced risk of developing type 2 diabetes. It is a form of physical exercise that helps regulate blood sugar levels.

6.       Sex can improve your immunity. A fascinating study from Wilkes University found that sexually active students had higher levels of IgA, a key infection-fighting substance, than those less active. This suggests that moderate sexual activity can bolster your immune system.

7.       Sex can make your heart healthier. According to a 2010 study in the American Journal of Cardiology, men engaging in sex 2-3 times per week showed a notable decrease in heart-related issues. This shows a direct link between sexual activity and improved cardiac health.

8.       Sex improves your quality of sleep. I have previously discussed the crucial link between sex and sleep. More sex helps you sleep better, and better sleep gives you the desire for sex and the ability to perform better.

9.       Sex can help regulate your blood pressure naturally. Multiple studies support the idea that sex can lower blood pressure, reducing the risk of heart disease and stroke. This benefit alone underscores the importance of a regular sex life.

10.   Sex will reduce your stress level. The release of Dopamine and Oxytocin post-sex reduces cortisol levels, lowering stress, anxiety, and depression.

11.   Sex is Nature’s analgesic. Endorphins released during sexual activity act as natural painkillers. They can significantly reduce discomfort from headaches, arthritis, or menstrual cramps, demonstrating sex's role in holistic pain management.

12.   Sex can help in cancer prevention. Yes, you heard me right. Research in the Journal of American Medicine links frequent ejaculation (21+ times a month) to reduced prostate cancer risk. You should share this episode with your partner so that they can hear me say this!

13.   Sex can help you burn calories. Sexual activity is a form of physical exercise contributing to overall fitness. It is a fun, intimate way to maintain physical health alongside traditional exercise. Don't want to get out of bed to exercise? Well, then roll over and get your exercise in bed.

14.   Sex can make you smarter. Regular sex isn't just good for the body; it benefits the brain too. Studies suggest that it can improve cognitive function and even promote the growth of new brain cells.

15.   Sex will bring you closer to your partner. After all, frequent sex fosters happiness and strengthens relationships. Studies, including a 2016 one from the University of Toronto, show a direct correlation between sexual frequency and relationship satisfaction.

These are just 15 of many reasons why you should be having more sex. Other episodes of the Dr. Sex Fairy Podcast help you gain the tools on how to get this job done right, so do check them out.
